Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Antonio's is great. To me it is an Elkhart institution. It's also one of the only Italian restaurants in Elkhart that hasn't moved into a strip mall. The pizzas are awesome here and remind me of what pizzas in the Tuscany region of Italy taste like. I've never had a bad meal here and the service is always good. They make you feel like family. Dinner can be a bit slow, but hey, that is the Italian pace. If you haven't tried Antonio's, it's worth a trip, even from South Bend. Prices are competetive. P.S. Try the Tony Russo Special

Very good stuffed pizza...service could be better and wine selection is poor.

Order pizza with thin crust. Standard crust is way too much dough. Chicken Rosemary and veal Marsala are delicious. Dessert is "eh" and service can be slow. I look past that and consider this one of the best for Elkhart.

Ate here this past weekend. It was a beautiful restaurant! There was a lot of staff so I never sat without a refill! Definitely a plus. The odd part was I couldn't really tell what the ordering process was because we ordered our app but we couldn't figure out when they were going to take our order. We finally just told thm we were trying to order. But it would have been nice to order all at once because we ordered a pizza so it took a little bit. Pizza was great!

This place is the real deal. Family run, and real Italian, (not Eye-talian like so many are). Like in the summer they put fresh herbs from their garden in the salads like they would in the old country. They are famous for their pizza, even competed in Italy! I like the simple stuff like chicken tortellini soup, or the house salad which has salami and good cheeses. Get there early, or call for a reservation. It gets really busy!

First time visitor to Antonio's..we will be back..The stuffed breadsticks were very good..We also enjoyed the complimentary bread, which appeared to be homemade and very fresh. Based on recommendations here, we ordered the Tony Russo Pizza, and were not disappointed. The Tiramisu is also homemade and a great way to cap off the meal. Prices were very reasonable..The waitress spoke very highly of the Rosemary Chicken, which we plan to order on our next visit. We ate outside..which was nice and a little less hectic..

Great Italian spot! We started off with the stuffed mushrooms and they were tasty! My dad and brother split the pizza, I snagged a slice as well, it was very good. Super thin crust (the way to go) with plenty of toppings and cheese. I had the Chicken Scarpariello, and it was delicious. Although, adding more Ravioli would be nice ;) My mom had the sphaghetti and meatballs, and that was tasty as well. The only downfall was we received our meals before our salads. My mom just boxed hers to go and I had my alongside my meal, but it would have been nice to enjoy before the meal. Definitely check them out!

This is our go-to place for celebrating events and achievements. Sometimes the kitchen is easily overwhelmed and slow. The lobster ravioli filling is just stock flavored something. Wish I could intervene on that. But love the flourishes on the dishes, atmosphere and service. Taste is great, Always order calamari. Was there for Father's Day and it was full. RSVP! Husband supports the award winning Marg. pizza but thought it had a white sauce... I reminded him he thought that before... It was still simple, pure and healthy if sans cheese.

Always enjoy our trips to Antonio's. The staff is great and the food is wonderful. We frequently get carryout as well. Great local place.

Good food. Great calamari! Quant but loud. Kid's menu a bit limited.

Antonio's is a popular restaurant here. The owners are amazing. The food is great Italian and the service is equally good. They do get super busy on weekends, but still very good!

Great! Tony Russo Pizza is delicious - cooked perfectly and tastes nothing like a greasy Domino's pizza. It was light and very good. Complimentary Rosemary bread is fresh and really good. The Traditional Antipasto is also yummy and my kids gobbled it up. Our food came out quickly and everyone just seemed happy to be there. Staff was so friendly to our entire family. The ambiance is cute and the place is clean. Check this place out - it's another great local treasure.

This review is based on one visit on a Saturday night. The restaurant is a nice place with a good, dark atmosphere. It is kind of loud (or at least was the night I was there) and not the place I'd go for an intimate dinner. It was great, though, for me and a couple friends to go and enjoy conversation over dinner. The food we had was very good. As noted by an earlier reviewer, the Tony Russo pizza is a must. If this was a pizza joint that served only that pizza I'd give it five stars. We also had the arugula salad. This was interesting in that it was a very good salad with lots of yummy goodies, but underwhelmed me as an arugula salad (that is, not as much arugula as I wanted). Also, way too much dressing / oil. (This became a theme.) The waitress asked if we also wanted our dinner salads (I figured I was paying for it so why not). This was basically just romaine lettuce with a couple cucumbers sitting in a lake of olive oil. Way too much oil. Did you notice I haven't mentioned bread? That's because I had to ask for it at least three times, and it finally came after our entrees; it was very ordinary bread. I had veal rosemary, which was wonderfully cooked and came in a slightly lemony and very rosemary-y cream sauce -- a delightful entree. My friends had gnocchi was vodka sauce (rather good, but again, too much oil in the sauce) and lasagna. The lasagna was good, but the sauce was perhaps a bit too bright. After our plates were all cleared away the excess of oil was obvious because the table liner and cloth were soaked in it. It was gross. On the whole, the food here was rather good, especially my veal rosemary and the pizza. Our service, though, was rather poor. Things came in the wrong sequence, the bread issue, our server never checked on the entrees, and so forth. Also, when our bills came they did not have our before dinner drinks on them and, deciding to be honest, we alerted the server. She actually acted sort of irritated that we were making her do more work in altering the bills. No thank you or anything. I am willing to come here again and see if the service is better, but if it isn't I'll probably just stick to carry-out pizza and salad in the future. Which is a shame, because that veal rosemary was so good.

Wow has this place improved over the years! I will happily dine here for Italian any time. Food is good, service charming and I always leave content and full!
(4)Brad S.
I was amazed at how good the food was. Such a good place to eat

There's only one reason this place gets four stars: the Tony Russo Pizza. The appetizer size is just $5.99 and is a wondrous and divine meal unto itself: olive oil, fresh basil and oregano, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, chicken, feta, and parmesan on the most delicious crust ever. I dream of this pizza. It's unnaturally good. Service and atmosphere are nothing special; it can get a little crowded and the tables are kind of close together. The pasta is fairly pedestrian and the desserts are just okay. But go for the Tony Russo pizza and you'll thank me later.

We visited Antonio's about a month ago and ordered a salad and pizza to share between 3 people. The salad was on the menu as a meal for one person, but was large enough for 3 of us to split. It could have used a little more meat and cheese on it though. The pizza was excellent. We were all very pleased with the thin crust. You aren't overwhelmed by the dough and you get a better taste of all the toppings, sauce and cheese. We arrived at about 5:30 and sat in the bar area. Although, technically, our waiter was the bartender, everyone seemed to work together when they started getting busy. We didn't have to wait for drink refills or more bread or our meal. I would suggest going early rather than later. It gets pretty crowded after 6 or 6:30.

antonios italian stallion pizza is the best deep dish i have found in elkhart, my wife and i have eaten here many times and tried various menu items but always return to the stallion. for a good appetizer the calamari is also tender and plentiful. when i first started going there 5 yrs ago the diavalo sauce was fantastic but over the past couple years something has changed and i don't recommend it anymore

to everyone out there, don't listen to Vincent G on this restaurant. You can't judge this place if you've only been there once. it is amazing! I would recommend the four cheese spinach ravioli and the Rosemary pizza! I've gone there all throughout my life and it is so good! go there. You won't regret it!
(5)MK S.
Haven't had a bad meal here yet! Reasonable prices, good service, great food. They were very accomodating when we had a large group for a birthday party but had separate checks.

AMAZING! Sever Haley was adorable and knowledgeable. We had the eggplant salad which was OUTSTANDING, lobster bisque, chicken marsala and seafood ravioli. Salted caramel gelato. Will be back for pizza very soon. Loved !!1

The only thing you need to know about Antonio's is that they have the best Deep Dish Pizza on the planet. After 16 years of working in Chicago a couple times per week, I've enjoyed practically all of the deep dish in & around Chicago. Nothing compares to Antonio's. And, visitors to my shop *from* Chicago confirm this repeatedly, as many have been made believers & come back to Elkhart now requesting that we go to Antonio's for dinner. It's THAT good.

Always delicious. My go-to for Lobster Bisque. Also the pizza is our favorite. Never disappointed when we visit.

Went here for out Valentine's dinner. All in all it was ok. Ambience is nice. Food is good to above average. Service was stellar. What kept them from getting a 5 star rating was the stingy approach to drinks and deserts. $9.00 for a specialty bar drink that yielded a 1oz drink. Seriously? That was a real disappointment folks. Price that at $6.00 and it's acceptable. Then the waitstaffer brought a desert tray. Of course I had the Tierra Messu. The slice on the tray was about a 3 x 4" slice. What showed up was a 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 slice. These are nit picky items. However, it tells me when the waitstaffer spent 80% of her sales approach on these items. Stay away for the specialty drinks. Unless they show you an example and your happy with it. Same for desert. Get a real example. Not the tray. We ended up with a $110.00. So it is pricey.

Pizza is amazing. Would love to see them tackle new Italian. The food is reliably delish. Good service.

We had two salads; tomato and cucumber salad, and kale salad. Both were very fresh and delicious . Josie had Chicken Marsala and I had sausage ravioli with Bolognese sauce. So good!!!
(4)Tara M.
Authentic one of a kind restaurant. As Italian as it gets. If you are going through the area, make an effort to drive a little out of your way and experience the place. First class service & food. Full bar.
(5)Sherry H.
My fave local Italian. My reliable order is lays gnocchi and a glass of wine. Also amazing pizza, dine in or carry out.
(5)Bethany S.
Another staple in town. Yes, when they are busy, you may have to be patient....just like every place. This place is classic and family owned. So support a family and eat at this great place!
(5)Matt K.
Food was pretty good Italian nothing spectacular but I would've gone back. HOWEVER, I keep all my receipts.. and check my charges and the waitress there added on extra to her tip on both my check and my friends. Will not go back ever again. And if you do I would recommend paying cash because these people cannot be trusted.
(1)Andrew L.
We had a reservation for 5:30 and did not get seated until 6:05. That's ridiculous. I'll give it two stars because the food was good
(2)Mike M.
In town for business and decided to try. Service was ok, as mentioned in other reviews you have to ask for bread. I had the Calamari which was slightly undercooked, breading was soft and soggy. The Tomato Basil soup was very good. The salad was just a few pieces of lettuce with half a cherry tomato. The Chicken Marsala was the big letdown. The chicken breast was rubbery and very chewy. I would not come back.
(2)Michael S.
Been going to the family restaurant for over 20 years. They do get extremely busy on the weekends which can hinder the professional service they strive for. This is only during the rush. As everyone has mentioned earlier the Tony Russo is great for people who like that type of pizza, for traditionalist the thin is not soupy and you enjoy the toppings. The hand toss has crust on the ends and thin crust towards the middle. The thick....well I never had or wanted that type, but people who do, love it. Love the pizza so much, many times get half baked pizzas and take back to FL. PLUS, MOST IMPORTANTLY, any problems, they strive to make right! One of the few, original Elkhart Pizza places left!
(4)Sam H.
Went there once it was was very good haven't been there in long time but I don't know why I haven't comeback it's good though
(5)Jon C.
Pizza pizza pizza pizza!!! I can't legitimately review anything but the pizza because it's the only thing I've had. We visit Elkhart a few times a year and we always make it a point to get Antonio's Pizza. I have never found this style of Pizza outside of this area, and compared to davinci's, Bruno's, etc - Antonio's is by far the best. Amazing quality ingredients, perfect and consistent execution.
