Great lunch stop. Had the haminator - best ham and witch I have had in a long time. Prices for lunch are reasonable, staff very friendly. Found it because of yelp - glad we stopped. If I lived nearby this would be a regular lunch stop.

I reserve my 5 star reviews for a place that has great Customer Service along with a superb product. Most places end up with a 3 or a 4 because they miss the mark on something, but Foodies is definitely fitting of the 5 star rating. I read a review raving about Foodies yesterday and since I was going to be in the area to stop at Dessert Menu, I knew I had to check it out. I wasn't sure what to expect from the outside, but this place is so retro chic inside. I absolutely loved everything about it and almost felt like I was not cool enough to be here. When you walk in, there's a small little market that carries different kinds of cocoa, homemade candy/snacks, coffee, rubs, dips, and they even have a section with craft beer. I ended up buying a bag of Labriola Pretzel rolls because I absolutely love pretzel rolls and they'll make for great sandwiches to bring to work. I was considering buying a few other things, but I decided to opt for a quick lunch instead. I ordered the 1/2 soup or salad plus a 1/2 sandwich. I went with the Diner style Tuna Melt and the Chili. They had a huge selection of soups and it was near impossible to pick. The other ones that I considered were: Steak and Ale, Broccoli Cheddar and Loaded Potato. I should have just ordered a cup of all of them being the huge soup lover that I am. It only took a few minutes and then my meal was being brought out to me. The chili was a little thicker than how I like my chili--I normally like a lot more broth--but this was some of the best chili I've had in awhile. It had just the right amount of spice, tomatoes, beans and meat to make it fantastic. The tuna sandwich was really good too, but I should have ordered something more unique for my experience. You can never go wrong with a tuna melt, but I can also make a pretty mean one at home so next time I will go with a Reuben or one of their paninis. My favorite part about the whole dining experience though was the amazing customer service. Everyone here that I encountered was overly friendly--not in that fake sort of way--but in the "we really care about what you think and we'll go out of our way to make sure you're happy." They were absolutely fantastic. The lady taking orders told me I could try anything I wanted, so I should have taken her up on that offer to try all of those soups. She was so sweet and I'm not sure if she was the owner or just a really good employee but she made my whole lunch A+.

Hello Illinois-ians! Foodies is a Super place to stop for lunch that's juuuuuuuuust over the border! Super cute, kinda diner feel, friendly staff and great daily specials. You order at the counter and take a table. Service was fast.....the Adult Grilled Cheese is AMAZING and I've never had a soup I didn't love. A little tough to spot, it's tucked behind another restaurant on Route 30, but do find it and stop next time you cross the border!!

Was at this establishment June 2 & 5. Where I gave you a great review before, sadly I have to downgrade. In the last 2 instances, I ordered the spinach salad. It was so abundant before, is now a paltry serving. I could understand if you lowered the prices and made this a smaller serving size but you've actually done the opposite!!

In addition, their Steak & Ale soup was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Seriously! I tried their cold peach soup which I really enjoyed too. Had to drag my parents here because I loved it so much. They had a Ruben and a ham sandwich that was remarkable. Mmm mmm mm.

I just had lunch here for the first time: I was rushing around, wanted food that was nutritious & fit my Meatless Mondays plan. The women working at the counter were friendly & made great suggestions & even gave me some samples of sides. I went with a roasted veggie soup and a ratatouille sandwich that were ridiculously good. I saw at least ten other menu items ( both meat & no-meat) that I will try. A great local business that strives to offer fresh, delicious, homemade food-- I will definitely go back to eat myself stupid.

Straight away we were greeted with friendliness and enthusiasm. That, combined with the atmosphere/decor of the place had me feeling like this would be a good experience - and it was. I ordered the "traffic stopping tuna" sandwich with the fire roasted veggie soup and a side of the apple Waldorf salad. All three were homemade, fresh and delicious!

My wife and I stopped for the first time today. I was very impressed with the food. I had a Cuban sandwich and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. My wife had the farmers market panini and an apple salad. Food was great. We did a have a bit of a wait but food was really fresh and hot when we got it. Definitely we will return.

Great food and deserts. You can't go wrong with their sandwiches. And I love their meaty chili. Only recommendation, stay open later than 7pm.

Yesterday was my first time at Foodie's and I will definitely be back! The food is fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The service was fast and friendly. Excellent Steak & Ale soup and the (extremely fresh) Spinach Salad with hot bacon dressing was outstanding! My friend had the Traffic Stoppin' Tuna Salad Sandwich and some Broccoli Cheese soup and RAVED about it! Great place for gift buying, too. And don't forget to treat yourself to some wonderful baked goods! I just wish I lived across the street from Foodie's so I could go there everyday!

Friendly service, nice atmosphere, great sandwiches, delicious soup. My only complaint is the to go soup is too expensive, over six bucks. It's good but not that good.

I was in the area for work and stopped in for lunch. It is a really cute place inside, kind of a quirky, old school feel. I had a steak and ale soup with half a beefy squeeze pachinko. Both were delicious! The soup was a delicious creamy concoction, with lots of steak and potatoes. I don't know why I ordered it when it was 90 degrees outside, but am so glad I did. The sandwich was delicious. I tend to be overly critical of sandwich bread, but this was soft, white, delicious white bread, and toasted just how I like it. I also got coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. I overheard that the cookie recipe has been perfected over the last 20 years. And it was pretty great. Not humongous, but a good size, thick, and chewy. My only complaint was they only had small individual creams. It was real half and half, but I prefer a the full thermos, I am weird I know.

GROWNUP GRILLED CHEESE. You MUST try it! It was so good, I almost cried. I think it's on sourdough and there's like three kinds of cheese on it. I don't know, it was so melty and delicious and went great with their tomato basil soup. My other favorite is the Asian chicken wrap. Yum!

My friend and I are eating our way through the menu. Every sandwich is better than the last one! I also recommend the pita chips with red pepper dippy as a side! So yummy! There is nothing ordinary or just ok about the food at Foodies. Exceptionally extraordinary and amazingly delicious!!

Big fan! Not only for the food (Hamminator- do I need to say more?) but for the cute things I can find every time I am there. They have a great sandwich/salad/soup menu- with something for everyone. The staff is friendly and helpful, putting this place up on my top five to visit.

I came here last week for the first time with two friends. We all had the turkey panini with the butternut squash soup. It was all good! It looks like a good place for breakfast, too. The place is really cute, with a retro flair. They have a little market with sauces and things. (I didn't spend much time looking, to be honest.) They are very sweet and helpful! I'll try it again soon.

Great little sandwich & soup shoppe. Also, haven't had pretzel bread since Epcot. Win! There's a small market shop inside as well, and they host classes like wine and beer tasting.

This place is great! Awesome atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff and more importantly great food. I just discovered their craft beer area with some interesting picks so I will definitely be partaking in that the next time I am here!

Went for lunch today and it was fantastic! I had the roasted vegetable soup and spinach salad with hot (yes!) hot bacon dressing, delicious! Others in our group, there were 5 and 1 child enjoyed the Steak-n-Ale soup, grown up grilled cheese, roast beef and turkey sandwiches. The apple salad side also very good! For dessert we ate up all the chocolate cupcakes they had...and the cupcakes were very very good too! There was plenty of room for us, even as busy as the cafe was today at lunchtime and the staff was awesome! To top it off, I found a specialty beer in their marketplace that I'd been looking for around town for almost a whole year! Boulevard Pale Ale out of Kansas City, MO. I bought two 6 packs for 9.99 each. The owner/operator said he would be happy to get me more, or any other I might be interested in. Great place!

We had an enjoyable dinner here. They have a nice selection with some great soups. I tried the turkey on the pretzel bun and the butternut squash soup - and loved both of them. Had an amazing brownie for dessert.

Great food! I've never had anything bad from this restaurant. The employees are very nice. During one visit, the woman at the cash register let us sample different things before we decided on what to order. No other place does that! The food always seems to be fresh. Such a great place!

Have been back since last visit. Enjoyed an awesome "fresh" turkey panini ( came with a small side - Cole Slaw ( other options were available !! ) . of course the Steak and Ale soup was fantastic. Also, the Fire Roasted Vegtable soup was delicious! Great food, cozy atmosphere.

The cafe is cute inside with Route 66 decor and a little shop with spices and such. There was an older crowd (65+) when I went for lunch. The Cobb salad was ok (mostly lettuce) but very small, more like a side salad. I expected more for $5.75. I am picky with my salalds and like some substance to it. You will not be full if you order a salad, just a heads up. The pretzel bread is good. Since they are just starting out, I might try it again in a few months. The place was packed. The owner seemed like she was trying very hard to make sure everything was ok, nice lady. I truly hope they increase their portion sizes on the salads, since most people who order a salad for lunch or dinner want to be full after eating it if its your entree! My friend said the soup was a bit watery as well. I was hungry when I left... I think this place can make it though if they thicken up the soups a bit and beef up the salads.

Stopped in for lunch today! I though this was a really great little place, wish Dyer, IN was a more common visit for me so that I could try more on the menu. Would consider going out of my way to give this place another try someday. First impression, adorable decor, very comfortable diner feel, and incredibly friendly waitstaff greeted me right away! I had the italian sandwich on sundried tomato focaccia bread (can't remember what it was called) with the apple waldorf salad as a side. Really enjoyed my meal! The sandwich was loaded up with meat and a delicious sauce, the bread was so soft and fresh I could have eaten just that all day long! The salad was crisp, tart, and delicious, went perfectly with the meal. Even the pickle on the side seemed somehow extra-ordinary! This place really focuses on all the details and makes great food! I hope I get a chance to come back!

Awesome food. The steak and ale is to die for!!! Get there early when they serve this soup because it's the first to go. I work in Dyer so eating here happens 3-4 times a month and still have yet to get anything but great meal here. Service is nice and fast too.

Great sandwiches and the pitas and dip were excellent! My son even enjoyed his PB&J. We can't wait to go back to try something new. The menu was endless.

Had lunch today and I'm glad we stopped. The food was fantastic; the staff as well. I was happy because it was on the quiet side which made the visit even better for me and my service dog. Which they had no problem that she was there. I'd go back but I'm stuffed. Have to wait. I would highly recommend this very clean and Veteran friendly restaurant.

Love this place! Awesome sandwiches. Salads. Their pita chips and dip... The bestest ever!!!! All kinds of soups on rotation. Homemade. This week: pumpkin apple, steak and ale (so good!), butternut squash, tomato basil... All tasty and perfect for this November weather. Definitely worth a try and worth repeating!

I drive past Foodie's every day; I'm so glad I finally stopped in. Super cute little cafe with a nice selection of tasty homemade food. Panera-like menu (sandwiches, salads, soups) with better prices. The adult grilled cheese and tomato soup were the perfect fare for a crisp fall day. Plenty of items on the menu that I look forward to going back to try. Very friendly and attentive service. Their catering menu looks appealing for a business lunch or a nice change of pace for a casual home gathering. A great local place with a personal touch.
