Finding a Sushi place in Columbus in its entirety is a surprising idea! But anyways, a decent sushi place. Staff is super friendly and the chef who makes the Sushi is very friendly and engaging as well. The fishes seemed to be fresh and the rolls were pretty decent. So if you are in Columbus and want to have decent sushi I think this could be your place. We also had soup to start off and it was pretty good as well. Happy sushi eating!

Just had some awesome General Tso's Chicken and was very impressed. Definitely not what I was expecting though - it was chicken with some broccoli, was expecting red peppers and onions with my chicken but I might not have read the full description. There wasn't much broccoli but a huge amount of chicken. Combined with the rice, it was more than enough for one adult male in one sitting! Definitely will come back for this dish - it might take me a bit to venture away from it!

Food is good, real Chinese style, great taste, I love it! And waitress is also delightful, but the only thing Is that it's a little bit over priced there. Will go there again for sure, but could not be as usual as I thought considering the price.
(4)Stephanie G.
Their prices are a lot higher than some other chinese places in town and their food tastes the same. Sometimes the waitresses get confused when we order and they arent sure of what we want. Just okay, maybe itll get better and i can update this review. We'll see .

Ru Yi has the best General Tso's chicken in town. It's hands down my favorite. I love that it's not over run with peppers, and that paired with brown rice is definitely something to write home about. They also have some delicious sushi, and the best California roll of any sushi restaurant in Columbus. The presentation of the sushi is also great, which is always a plus. We keep going back with no plans to stop!

My favorite asian restaurant in Columbus. Their sushi is fresh and delicious every day... which is really a pleasant surprise because that's not even the case in the Indianapolis restaurants. The food is good, staff is courteous, the manager is personable, and the prices are reasonable. Sushi can be pricy for a la carte options, but overall I'm glad I don't have to drive to Indianapolis to get above-average Japanese food.

I found myself in Columbus, starving and looking for dinner at 9:30 on a weeknight (damn you, delayed flights!). My choices were the typical fast foods joints or chain restaurants, until I spotted Ru Yi. I walked in expecting to be turned away, since it was so close to their closing time, but I was able to place an order to go without a problem. I couldn't order sushi because they were already cleaning everything up, so I got the wonton soup and chicken pad thai for around $11 total, a steal for someone used to Northeast prices. The soup's broth was a little strong but had good flavor, and the wontons were juicy. My only issue was that they were a bit doughy and hard to cut into pieces with just my wimpy plastic spoon. The pad thai was HUGE, easily enough for 3 meals for me and I hated having to throw out my leftovers when I left the next day. Despite the size, I would say about 90% of the bowl was noodles, and I would have loved more chicken, nuts and other toppings. Overall, though, the food was pretty darn tasty and way better than I usually get on a business trip. I probably won't be returning to Columbus any time soon, but if I was, I wouldn't hesitate to go here again.

Some of the best Asian food I've ever had in Indiana by far! I've never had anything that I wasn't absolutely pleased with here. The shrimp lo mein is the best my husband and I have ever had! Since having had the shrimp lo mein at Ru Yi, no other shrimp lo mein tastes good anymore. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Columbus or traveling down I-65 and needing a place to eat. They also do very well on take-out orders and always use nice, neat, leak-proof packaging. It's worth the drive from Indianapolis to eat here!
(5)Rick K.
It was a cause for celebration when this Asian restaurant opened on the west side of Columbus! Until Ru Yi, Asian cravings required a long ride for locals. I must admit I was a little scared when I first walked into this restaurant and saw the Chinese, Thai, and Japanese fair. I was skeptical that they could do a good job with all three cuisines. Well, I was wrong to doubt this. I've had entrees of all three cuisines and they do a great job with all three. My favorites are the hot and sour soup (fantastic!) and the Hunan Beef. The sushi is also excellent. Carry out is fast and accurate. This is a well managed family restaurant. It is a great addition to the west side of Columbus and is located close to Interstate 65.

Coming fr Chicago for a weekend getaway...this is d only restaurant in Columbus that serves Asian fusion cuisine.nice ambience, good food especially for sushi lovers ,friendly staff &quick service.
(4)Chad P.
Good sushi... great deal on the 2-3 roll specials... great box lunches. Very good hot tea (Jasmine or Olong). Staff very nice. We use their take-out often and they are always fast.
(4)Chris R.
Love it!! We get Chinese take out and dine in for Japanese rolls. Great service, nice people!! Never had a bad meal here!!! I love the decor for such a small place it's nice!!
(5)Renee K.
Food is good. They are very stingy with rice. It's extra when you ask for more. Come on, rice is cheap.
(3)Pam C.
My favorite Asian food in Columbus. Super friendly staff. Good sushi, Chinese, and Thai food. My favorite is the basil chicken plus edamame. Great lunch specials, too. Plus they have a selection of Japanese beer. Love this place!
(5)K B.
Ate here twice. First time would rate as a 4 and second time a 2. So average rating of a 3. First visit my husband and I both had nice stir fry dishes, which were very tasty, well spiced and fresh. Sevice was prompt. Second visit was on a very crowded Thursday night. Seemed to be some confusion as to which server was to wait on us. Ordered the Thai salmon. Did not like the sauce at all -- seemed to be a watered down ketchup. There was a hair in my husbands dishr. I will give it another try but will choose a non-busy night.
(3)Roderic R.
Absolutely love it. Great atmosphere, decorations, and food. Great curry. Superb General Tso. Excellent, creamy, and sweet crab Rangoon.

Being situated in the crappy town of Columbus, Indiana, I didn't have high hopes for this place. But dang, they manged to not live up to those expectations. I got miso soup, a green salad, and a dynamite roll. The miso soup was so strong. I don't think they cooked the seaweed at all, as it smelled and tasted very, very strongly of fish. The green salad was decent. The dressing was good. But how do you manage to screw up a dynamite roll? It was falling apart and the salmon was cold. My boyfriend got tom uum soup and basil fried rice with shrimp. I'm not sure what that soup was, but it was definitely not tom yum. It was thick and tasted of shrimp, even though it was ordered with tofu. The basil fried rice was just ok. It wasn't thai basil fried rice, but it was edible. Won't go back here. Ever. I just gave it two stars for the salad.
(2)Todd S.
Having tried this place 3 times now, the best thing I can say is that the food is hot. The servers are pushy, the food over priced, and the food quality is dismal. General Tso's chicken is chunks of chicken leftovers, breaded, fried, and tossed in a ho-hum sauce. House special soup for 2? Yeah...2 bowls of corn starch for my wife and I with a shrimp: $7.25. Really?!?! Shrimp Pad Thai: tiny shrimp, noodles, onions, tossed in more ho-hum sauce with some bean sprouts on the side. Oh, and some smashed peanuts on the top. Pretty abysmal. My money is best spent elsewhere and I think yours is, too.
(1)Amanda F.
Great spring rolls and sushi is ok. Tables are alright, however there aren't any booths so I wasn't as comfortable as I would have like to have been. Service was good, but the ambiance was lacking.
(3)Tim M.
has gone downhill. Took 30 minutes to be greeted by a waitress. Waitress did not know the menu. By the time we got our appetizer my son was fast asleep and they still brought his food. Only received one refill of drinks and good was just ok. Don't think I will ever go back.

While Ru Yi's sushi may be good, the customer service is horrible. My boyfriend and I ordered a Jobu Roll, Hawaiian Roll, and Mob Lobster Roll-upwards of 50 dollars in sushi. Upon arriving home with our order, we realized that none of the rolls were correct. We immediately called the restaurant and were told to identify what rolls we had. It is not the customers role to identify a wrong order. We brought the rolls into the restaurant and were called liars despite the fact that the hostess could not identify the rolls correctly. When we noted that there were things missing from each of the rolls, he dismissed this and continued to tell us we were wrong. As compensation, we were told we would get 10% off of our next order. They did not offer to remake our sushi or to rectify the situation. When we demanded that we get our money back, he gave us our money back for the 3 rolls (not our full order). I have been a loyal patron of Ru Yi since I moved to Columbus and will never visit the establishment again.

One of the nicest places to eat in Columbus, IN. If you like sushi and are in the Columbus area, this should definitely be a consideration. The place is clean with little decoration. Lights aren't overly bright. A simple, pleasant atmosphere. My only complaint is the servers were overly helpful. Three different servers stopped at our table to see if we were ready to order. We politely responded that we needed a little more time but it wasn't long before the next person would stop and ask. Many different people stopped to take our order, deliver drinks or food and just to check on us. So the service is great, maybe even too helpful. We had a variety of sushi as well as the curry chicken. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The curry chicken was a nice combination of vegetables and meat, not too heavy on either. The curry sauce tasted really good, a nice spicy kick. The sushi was great. I have to be in the mood for sushi, its not something I eat much of. My wife is close to being a connoisseur, she could probably eat nothing but. We both left full and pleased. Prices are what I'd expected, $10-20 a person. They have a variety of sushi, both in types and quantities...platters sized from a few varieties for a couple up to huge platters for parties. Overall, a nice place to get fresh Asian cuisine.
(4)Jess B.
I concur with all the positive reviews. I have eaten at this place four times now, and I haven't been disappointed yet. Their sushi rolls are fresh and tasty...far better than most places you're going to find in Indiana, much less dinky-poop Columbus. I've also had their yellow curry chicken which was quite good (the curry was not too watery and not too thick...perfect). I have to say, I have had a hard time tracking down good places to eat while living in Columbus but this was one of the few I managed to find. Word of advice: the lunch time menu is significantly cheaper though the dinner menu has much more variety (especially if you want special sushi rolls). It's worth it to try this place out.
(4)Abby D.
Ru-yi - a great place for sushi. The best in Columbus...by far. We get their Chinese cuisine occasionally as well. Always happy with their service. The only hiccup is their carry-out - twice we've had a couple of items missing from our order (egg rolls, etc.) Not a HUGE deal - but they could work on that aspect. Otherwise, GREAT!
(5)Isaiah C.
After having tried every Sushi restaurant in Columbus, I have decided this is one of the best ones you can find in this region of Indiana. The staff is always friendly and they have very reasonable prices. Even if you don't like Sushi, Their other Asian dishes are delicious. Try the Bourbon Chicken, It is awesome!
(5)Wesley W.
I can't see how this restaurant gets bad reviews. It is by far the best Chinese restaurant in Columbus. I've been here four times and gotten a different entree and sushi roll each time. No problems at all with anything. The service was prompt, the food is always excellent. As far as complaining about how the place is decorated come on people.
(5)karen e.
The service was poor. Couldn't get a waiter and then had 3 different people help us. The primary one didn't speak English that well. A lot of folks around us got the wrong food & we did too. Hopefully they will get it worked out. They seem nice but unorganized. Food was average strip mall Asian. I'm from Chicagoland so we have a lot of choices. This wouldn't be one we would go to as there are better options near us.
(3)Matthew R.
I have been eating at Ru Yi for years and am a very big fan. They have great prices, great atmosphere, and a great menu. I have never been disappointed with any meal I have had there. That being said, it doesn't have the same glitz as Taku or the quirkyness of Hisui (not a bad thing, just an observation). The owner is always there and the wait staff are always very friendly. Ru Yi can't be beat if you're looking for a safe bet, pleasant experience.
(4)Rahul N.
Sushi 3/5 (as good as it can get in south central indiana) Vegetarian dishes 4/5 (ask for vegetables in garlic sauce, it's not on menu) Chinese menu items 5/5 (you need to ask for it, hotpot is a must have) Chicken varieties 4/5 Service 2/5. No server seem to past for more than couple of months. Extremely slow, and only restaurant in the world where server who doesn't understand order becomes confrontational.
(4)Shawna F.
It's alright. The service was average. If you want sushi this is acceptable but not the best or worth me going back. I had the black dragon, snow mountain, volcano, Philly and some sake.
(3)Timothy M.
I ordered the beef pad thai for carryout as a walk-in customer. I was very hungry, but found it challenging to finish the whole bowl due to a heaping portion. However, I kept piling it in due to how great it tasted. The beef was tender and noodles perfect. I'm getting hungry just talking about it! Will definitely be back to try the sushi!
(4)Nicholas S.
Nothing they serve is particularly good. The curry is extremely bland, even when I ask for extra seasoning. The sushi is mushy and sloppily assembled, and sushi with fried elements have way too much breading and thus grease. A couple of the teriyaki dishes are serviceable, but nothing sets them apart from a frozen dinner of the same ingredients.
(2)Kylie H.
We were impressed with this restaurant! Our dinner was great and so was the service. We had the jobu roll, steamed dumplings and general tso's chicken. The general tso's was awesome! Spicy and flavorful. All three were very good and the atmosphere was nice as well. Kind of quiet for us, but it was nice. We will definitely be coming back!

Downward Spiral - hope they can regain what they used to be. I used to come to Ru Yi on a consistent basis because you could get Americanized Chinese cuisine with decent sushi for a fair price. What I encountered the last time was a manager who was begrudgingly wanting to correct an order that our table had made. A group of four of us went for lunch. I ordered off the "secret" Chinese menu which has both words and photographs for what one might ask for so you can easily point out what you might like. Upon delivery of our meals, we received different food and then were informed that there was no brown rice (wish I knew that at the time we ordered!). The manager/owner came over to our table, a younger Asian man who seemed highly inconvenienced by our request to correct the order. This was his suggestion: "I mean, I guess we can fix it but you'll have to wait ANOTHER 25 minutes for your order." No kidding. I'd rather wait and get what I asked for rather than eat something we didn't order. To be clear, this wasn't a language barrier issue. I think what ended up happening is that we received another table's order. They were simple things like Chicken with Broccoli or General Tso's chicken.... not what we ordered. We also had a native Chinese speaker in our party which surprised the manager when he found out one in our party spoke Mandarin. We'll be back but next time we'll just leave to go to Jimmy John's next door if our order is incorrect.
(3)Rick W.
The avocado salad was just ok, not the best needed a little dressing. The crab rangoon was good. Pad Thai and the dumplings were great. Overall good meal. Would go back if in the area.
(3)Rahul K.
Good portions, Varied spice level, Decent Chinese food! General Tso's chicken with chicken fried rice was delightful.
(4)Suresh S.
I like it bcz we were here by 2 afternoon and it was not busy . I loved my samadam beer . Food was awesome and service is k too. I like happy smiling service but I can understand bcz of different country ppl and body language. Over all we all had gud lunch .
(5)Kati H.
Horrible service! Do not eat there if you have a shellfish allergy, I made it known when we ordered our carryout, and when we got home, there was Shrimp in my food. We called the manager right away and it seemed to pain him to apologize, nothing was offered to fix the issue, a supreme disappointment especially for what you pay!
(1)Marcia M.
Ru Yi was a nice alternative to hitting up a chain during our roadtrip to Indy yet I still left feeling perplexed... So you have tofu available. Why are you not able to substitute another protein (chicken) for tofu in a dish? For example, our waitress had a hard time grasping our orders and I think I threw her for the ultimate loop (really??) when I asked if they could substitute tofu in the General Tso Chicken. She looked confused and told me no. As a professional vegan, I have NEVER had any dining establishment deny this request if they have tofu on their menu. I didn't want to be a pest nor create and uncomfortable moment so I just ordered the Teriyaki Tofu as she suggested but knew that thus request was easy peasy.... Besides that, the food was tasty and the restaurant was quite nice especially for something that is right off the freeway. It is highly unlikely that I will dine her again but that's just due to location but Ru Yi seems to offer a nice selection of Asian cuisine including an extensive sushi menu. Just don't ask for anything that is not printed "as is" on the menu!
(3)Lillian W.
Passing through town. Ran across this restaurant and took a chance. Wicked clean. Polite waitress. Good food.

As I am coming from another state, this restaurant is on of my choices for lunch or dinner. I would stay this restaurant is not the best Asian place in US but it is acceptable. Good customer service! I would recommend Thai Curry if you like spicy.
(3)Chris Y.
Generally a Japanese place with some Chinese and Thai menu items. I usually come for lunch and get the bento box with a salad, couple of dumplings, teriyaki chicken, and a few california rolls. Everything is decent, but nothing here sings. Most recently my chicken was tough, the salad was overdressed, and the california roll was a little mushy. Will I go back? Yes, but not often. Many things seem to often need a little more care. I feel like they try to do too much.

Food is good. They are very stingy with rice. It's extra when you ask for more. Come on, rice is cheap.
