I ordered my wedding cake from them. The cake itself was delicious and I gave the cake decorator ideas about what I liked and let her design it and she did a great job. They are the cheapest for wedding cakes that I found and it looked just as good that would have came from Designer Deserts but tasted way better! It is a small shop and I had difficulty with communication but will still order any cakes I need from them.

I've ordered from Chesterton Cake Shoppe many times over the years. I've selected cookies, bars and cupcakes from the case and also special ordered birthday cakes. Everything I've ever gotten from there is very yummy. If you let them, they will guide you with your cake selections to help maximize flavor -- and they have many choices and combinations for flavors of both cake, fillings and frostings. They are expensive (hence 4 stars instead of 5), but admittedly, no more expensive than some of the other "designer" bakeries in the area. And, honestly, I think these owners are much nicer and down to earth and appreciate their customers.

This place is great. I can't count how many times we have gone out of our way to order cakes from here. We have never had a bad experience and they always turn out amazing. More recently, we had them make an Elmo cake for a relative's birthday. They did a fantastic job of decorating the cake and incorporating the stuffed Elmo into the design. The cakes have always been moist and flavorful. The staff there has always been kind to us and had the cakes ready when they said they would. Aside from their cakes, they also offer good cupcakes to choose from. They are decently priced and also taste great. However, my favorite treat from here is the peanut butter bars that they have. They remind me of the ones I used to get as a kid. However, they keep refusing to give me the recipe so I don't have to drive two hours to get them but they sure are worth it when I'm in the area. My only complaint about this bakery is with their fondant. It could stand to be better. It tends to be a bit too hard and lacks flavor. If they could incorporate some of the better fondant that we've had at places around Indy, their cakes would be superb. In all, their cakes are great. I would highly recommend coming here to sample their cupcakes or peanut butter bars and would suggest considering having them make a cake for your next event.

I was completely underwhelmed by this "upscale" bakery. My friend is getting married next month, and she invited me to be part of her cake-tasting entourage. We sampled 4 different kinds of cupcakes and browsed the scrapbooks of possible options for decoration and display (time to update...the scrapbook with blurry photos was not impressive). The cupcakes were dry and not very flavorful. The four types of icing pretty much tasted the same. The woman behind the register (owner? manager? she didn't introduce herself) was not as helpful or accommodating as I expected. Customer service was not her strong suit, and when someone is about to plop down $400 at your establishment, it matters. The bride decided to pay a friend to make the cupcakes instead. I've tasted her friend's delightful desserts and can safely say she made the right decision.

I've had cake from Chesterton Cake Shoppe on several occasions. Once at a wedding, and we sometimes order their cakes for birthdays. The people at the shop are very nice and accommodating. The cake is moist and has a great texture. But the icing is not very good at all in my opinion. I feel like it tastes kind of gritty and cheap. I would expect better from a place that specializes in cakes.

My husband and I greatly enjoyed working with this shop for our wedding. Our cake was fantastic! The most difficult decision was picking which flavor to use! Between meeting them at a bridal expo, our tasting, and purchasing some of their cupcakes, we tried all of the flavor options. We couldn't decide which one we wanted! We ended up picking two flavors, one for each tier! Our guests raved about our cake and several people asked to take some home! The staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and easy to work with. They provided us with some take home boxes as well! Chesterton Cake Shoppe was very accommodating and flexible to our busy schedules. The price was fair and I thought the delivery fee was extremely reasonable for the distance! (wedding was in Hobart). We had previously contacted a few other shops in the northwest Indiana area and were very disappointed. I am so happy that we found this place!
