This place is the bomb. Made fresh everyday, Yats has unbelievable food. Get there early because I've heard once one of the items is gone, it's done for the day. My favorite is the Mock Shoe but you really can't go wrong with any of the mains. A half and half plate is a great way to try a few things. (Samples are also free) And don't even get me started on the bread they serve. Amazing!! Love the food, staff and location.

Never fails to please the craving for comfort creole food. Half drunken chicken (Rosemary heaven) and half spinach mushroom - delicious with just enough heat.

As a former resident of New Orleans, I was supremely stoked - and surprised - when Yats opened in Indy. Doubled down on that when the Carmel location opened, in addition to the original location, near my work! Six years after moving out of the area, I found myself back in Indy/Carmel for the weekend. On my Yelp app looking for locally owned eats for dinner, I saw Yats! The lightbulb when off! Of course! YATS! How could I have forgotten? The best Cajun food outside of New Orleans. We were in the car within one minute. Yats is a locally owned fast casual option where you order from the daily offerings. The charm of the chalk board is part of the vibe here. Create your plate and take a seat; your food will be delivered. You can taste a sample! On this outing, I had a child in tow for her first time at Yats. I told the guy behind the counter that junior does not like spicy food - well seasoned yes, but not hot. He pleasantly served up a sample with a smile. And he even allowed the lil lady a second sample when I thought she should compare and not just take the very first thing. As a result, she ended up with a half and half of Chili Cheese Etoufee with Crawfish AND Red Beans with Sausage. YATS IS kid friendly if you have kids that behave in a quieter environment. This is a place where you hear people's conversations and they hear yours, so crabby or loud kids would not be advisable for dine in. Carry out, yes. I always get Chicken Creole. Still as saucily delicious in 2015 as it was years ago. It's a tomato based mild winner that I can never turn down! The bread is as crunchy with the weird orange butter as it ever was. Not life changing but worth getting a double order of. I'd like to thank the gentleman working last Saturday night for getting us on the extra bread, and being very welcoming to someone new to this type of cooking. For $10 per person (with a beverage) you'll almost teleport to the Crescent City herself! Take your kids, take your coworkers, take anyone you can whether they have had this cuisine before or not. Yats service aims to please. Food made with love. Reasonable prices. Plentiful portions. Plenty of parking. Handicap accessible! Need one of ya'll up in my city Yats!

Yats, Yats serves tasty vats, Vats of eats, salty and sweet. Listen to the staff, and pile on the toppings, Even when you're full, you probably won't be a stopping, From the BnB to the drunk chicken, Yats' offerings are so vast, your heart may start to quicken. So order up a big plate and start digging in, Yats is full of all sorts of win.

To the friendly chap behind the counter at Yats who told me the Maque Choux was not spicy: YES IT IS SPICY! Not spicy-spicy, but spicy enough that I was grateful that I had ordered extra bread to cut some of the spice. Someone else tasted my dish and, without prompting, said, "Dang, yours is spicy." See? Spicy! Anyway, we also ordered the chili cheese étouffée, but we were not aware that it doesn't automatically come with cheese, sour cream and onions (you order those separately for 25 cents each). That was kind of a bummer. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. This was our first time eating Cajun / creole food, so we didn't know what to expect, but we will probably be back to try other things on the menu. I did get a sample of their peanut butter pie, and wooooo -- that's some good stuff! Next time I'll have to get a slice.

It took me awhile to venture over to Yats, considering all the locations in the central Indiana area. Yelpers rave about the quick, cheap, delicious eats - so much so that it's a Yelp top 50 restaurant in Indiana! Hence, I went in with high expectations. It was good, but I wasn't blown away like I thought I would be. This Yats is a bit bigger than I was expecting with a spacious entrance / ordering area. They've also got a nice (but small) patio area. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was ready in under 5 minutes. I opted for the half and half BNB (corn, beans, peppers) and white chili with chicken. Each dish comes on a bed of rice and bread w/ seasoning as a side. First off - this place, you get bang for your buck! The half and half is $6.75 and I couldn't finish my plate! I liked the chicken chili but it had a tad bit too much of a kick for me (I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy eats) and the BNB was good but not OMG delish. The bread was good, too, but it wasn't as life changing as some people make it sound (I've heard some call it "crack bread"). What turned this would-be 3 star review into 4 was the peanut butter pie. Sinful! Oreo (?) crust, with light and fluffy (but rich) peanut butter filling, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate. WOW. What a way to cap off a meal! Other notes: ample street parking and large lot out back, but they share it w/ many other popular businesses so it can get crowded quick! Also, Yats food really isn't the most photogenic (except for the peanut butter pie!) but don't be turned off by the sloppy-looking mess!

Yats is the kind of establishment that Indy needs for new residents to automatically think they're gonna be OK in this city they've never been to before. For longtime residents like me, we need it also to thrive, as it has, to inspire other food innovators will step up and take a risk on elevating the once-bland food preferences here. I'll be the millionth person to vote for getting extra bread. But get some to take home, put salami in the middle and bake it for a few minutes in the oven.

It wouldn't be fair to compare the offerings at Yats to Cajun food in Louisiana or even Texas, but for Cajun / Creole fare in Indiana, it is pretty good. Set up like a fast food restaurant, you seat yourself, place your order and pay at the counter, and they bring your food out on disposable plates. The crawfish chili cheese etouffee was tasty and had a nice kick, but there were literally three pieces of crawfish in it. The chicken maque choux was nice and creamy, but was a tad too sweet. The menu is updated daily on a chalk board, and the service is cordial. A perfectly A-OK experience that I wouldn't mind repeating if I were in the area again.

Love YATS! Never disappointed having lunch or dinner here. Love the bread and Maux Church (sp?).

Gosh I FINALLY ate at Yats a few weeks ago and dang that place is delicious. And, I'll tell you what, unbelievably friendly. I love the the fact that you can sample each stew they have a cookin' so when it's your first time you get an all around feel for what they have to offer. The bread is something to die for... ordering extra is usually a must. I love how it is all about the basics at Yats. Nothing too fancy as the food is everything and speaks for itself. Bring on the plastic cutlery, styrofoam plates, and mardi gras beads. Wonderful concept, exceptional food, and an all around fantastic experience.

  • Ron R.

Pretty sure I've reviewed other Yats, and the food is consistent across all of them. This one caters a lot to business professionals as it is near the business area of Carmel. Avoid this place directly at Noon or else face having nowhere to sit and waiting in a long line. That being said, the food is amazing and I love it each time I go. In my opinion, this is the best place to grab some quick Cajun food in Indianapolis (other than Papa Roux which has Po'Boys on lock)

  • Carie W.

I really love the food here. As I've gotten older, I find my body does not always love the food here. I indulge a few times a year to keep my brain from obsessing on their Chicken Maque Choux and/or Chili Cheese Etoufee. I do so with apologies to my stomach beforehand. Why do I choose to put myself into an uncomfortable tummy situation? Because it's super yummy, that's why! It's good food that is fast, friendly service, and seriously cheap. What's not to love?? If you're a carboholic like me, get an extra order of the bread and don't be surprised by the electric orange butter garlic concoction on top. Take a bite - you won't regret it.

  • T.j. K.

Like pretty much everyone else I feel that Yats is outstanding. Good and service are always top notch. Getting the 1/2 and 1/2 with pretty much any two entree choices, bread and a drink for under ten bucks is about a good of a deal as you can get.

  • Michael K.

Crazy good cajan food. Free tastes if can't make up your mind. Don't go for atmosphere there is none. Just great food. Shat

True, authentic Cajun food in the heart of Carmel, Indiana of all places! You order either a full plate, or a half and half plate of whatever is listed on the daily menu. Everything is served on a bed of white rice, and everything is delicious. You have a side array of sauces and seasonings to add to your food, and the entire meal shouldn't cost you more than $10. I ordered the half and half plate of Black Beans and Chorizo plus the Chili-Cheese Etouffee with Crawfish. The Black Beans were simple with a very meaty taste, while the Chili-Cheese Etouffee was obviously a lot sweeter. My boyfriend's half and half plate had the Maque Choux and another option with chicken in it.

  • Peter S.

This place rocks. Perfect spot for a lunch with your buddies. Don't expect anything fancy, they pour everything into the food... you will be eating with plastic forks and knives.

I've been hearing about this place ever since I moved here 3 years ago and always thought, 'What's the big deal?' Well, I quickly found out. Came here on a work meeting the other day and met the manager of this location. Nice people! I had the Drunken Chicken and a few bites of their Jambalaya. My favorite part of the meal? THE BREAD! I have no clue what kind of sorcery is spread on that bread that comes with every plate, but I will say that I could have eaten just that bread and given this place 5 stars. The place is fun with beads strewn about. I probably wouldn't do lunch here again because afterwards I felt so full, but for me it makes for a better dinner. Definitely trying again!

  • Emily Elizabeth K.

I love Yats. Love love love. I will always come here for Mushroom Étouffée or the B&B, which is black beans and sweet corn in a sweet sauce. Oh my god, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! Garlic bread is delicious. Everyone who works here is sexy. Enough said.

  • Stacie H.

My husband is from Louisiana. I lived there 3 years. We like Yats. Some of the items are similar to the southwestern Cajun cuisine he grew up on. Not everything in LA is something that is served with rice, but the food is great. Hubby loves the chili cheese étouffée. I love the BnB. We like other things too, but those are our favs... I can't end this without mentioning the chicken mosque chorus. That's really good too!

  • Jacklyn A.

I had no idea what to expect when we walked by. This place is amazing! The host gave us a samples to pick out our favorites. They were all delicious and I'm usually not in to spicy food! I would recommend this place to anyone! Along with the cute space and excellent service the prices were very inexpensive! Two of us ate for $17 and had left overs!

Happy that there's a Carmel location! Having toured the better part of Indiana's Yats locations, its nice having one close. Atmosphere service food all the same excellent quality I've come to expect from any of the locations. Have a new favorite with the maque choux

  • Billy P.

First time to try the chicken and chorizo etouffe. Awesome. But, then I expected it to be. So good!! Everything always is. My son had the White Chili with Chicken. He doused it with Uncle Easy's Chipotle saice. Great addition to the sauce collection!

  • Mina P.

I love this place. When I need a pick me up, Yats is the place. The Carmel location is no exception. The staff is always awesome and they recognize me every time I go in. The chilli cheese crawfish etouffee is hard to resist getting every time. However the carribian jerk is fast becoming a household favorite as well. Really, I don't think you can go wrong here. Everything is delicious and the price is just right. Get it in bulk to take home. You won't regret it. I think I need to go get some right now. Writing this review is making me hungry.

Still giving it 5 stars after trying the "Mock Shoe", White Chicken, Black Bean, and Crawfish Chili Cheese. I love the garlic bread as well.

I have no problem admitting that I eat here about twice a week...sometimes more if someone else wants to go. Always great food and excellent service. The staff are incredible! Drunk chicken is my absolute favorite. If you're unsure about something, just ask. You can sample everything before ordering!

Finding myself in Carmel for a day of meetings, I suddenly realized that I'd completely forgotten about lunch A quick poll of my colleagues came up with one resounding recommendation - Yats. A quick drive over led me into this very small restaurant led to some confusion. It looked primarily focussed on take-away, and I wondered how good the food could be by 3PM. Not to worry, because the changing daily menu didn't let me down. I sampled the curry mushroom etouffee w/chicken, which was absolutely jumping with a melange of flavours. When I ordered it, a small addition of cheese and sour cream rounded it out into a creamy goodness over the bed of white rice. It was well worth the little bit of residual heartburn from the curry, and I would definitely look to come back next time I'm in Carmel.

Yats is always consistent regardless of which location you visit. The service is faster than Jimmy John's commercials, always hot, and staff that must be handpicked because they are ALWAYS nice at any location! As with all of the Yats, their always busy, parking can be an issue at prime times, but the warm atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices outweighs those minor issues. I tried something I hadn't had before which was the Maque choux. It has caramelized onions, plain etouffe, chicken, peppers and with a touch of hot sauces, absolutely first-rate. Our other order was the Red Beans and Sausage and of course, delicious. Don't forget to try one of the hot sauces sitting on counter next to the soda fountain. Hubby found a new one he really enjoyed, sorry forgot the name, but give 'um a squeeze.

  • Keith S.

Great creole served on rice. Yats has generous portions but not a huge selection. I had 5 choices including 4 chicken and 1 crawfish dish. Everything I have seen is served in a sauce over rice. Various degrees of heat, I used the powdered creole seasoning to kick it up a notch. Seating is simple with plasticware and self-serve drinks. Reasonably priced and easy to relax and enjoy a quiet dinner or lunch. Lots of seating but very busy at lunchtime. A big yum on this one.

  • Terrence C.

I tried Yats for my first time, the guy let me sample the jambaly to see if it was too spicy. I thought that was helpful and it was perfect! Loved the lunch and the price was great. I would recommend this for lunch or dinner.

  • Ann Y.

Yats, the food good dreams are made of! We haven't lived in Indy since 2010, but I still crave chicken creole. My hubs feels the same way about chili cheese étouffée. We were in town and had to stop by for lunch. The chicken creole was just as delicious as I remember. Hubs actually went with half chili cheese étouffée and half chorizo étouffée. He finished his plate in less than 5 minutes! I'm fairly certain I could drink a cup of the butter concoction that's spread all over the bread. Yup. Tasty.

  • Stella Z.

I'm not sure why this place is so highly rated....perhaps because the restaurant choices are limited? The food is just average, and it is like predominately rice, bread, and sauce. Good luck finding any protein In your meal.

  • Carolyn W.

I rarely write a review that is Meh. The service at the Carmel Yats is always good. When I found a big hair in my etouffe, they gave me a new lunch and a card for a free meal. I totally appreciate that. Generally, though, I'm not terribly excited about Yats. The flavor is fine, but I prefer to go somewhere else.

    (2)
  • Daniel M.

If you like Creole food and a nice modern place to hangout, a Yats is just for you. The portions are fairly well sized, and you don't have to worry about leaving hungry after receiving a meal at any of their locations. The price is also pretty good aswell, cheaper than most locations that serve lunch.

    (5)
  • Anica L.

Best Cajun food! The price is great too. I love the drunk chicken and who doesn't love the bread!

  • Steven T.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Hamilton County. It's a casual dining experience with a simple menu and amazing food. The staff is always friendly and generous and all of these things are reasons why I am there at least once a week. Do yourself a favor and eat there today.

    (5)
  • Michael T.

Seriously stop reading this and go eat here. Words can't describe it. One of the best.

  • JR N.

I could write a novel about how great Yats is as a whole and this location as well. They have great food and their staff is fantastic. They always recognize me and are very welcoming and nice. I do not know a single person who does not like Yats. The food is great, but the people and the setting is what makes it. It isn't your normal fast food joint or typical restaurant, which I love, and their prices can't be beat for the quality meal you get every time. I come to Yats on a weekly basis and it never gets old. Any skeptical friend or family member I have brought to Yats has fallen in love with this place and I think anyone willing to try a dish here will too.

    (5)
  • Leslie L.

Amazing food every time I go! The staff is always friendly and helpful with customers. I recommend the white chili w/ chicken or the red bean chili w/ sausage but everything is worth a try.Their peanutbutter pie is a nice ending to a meal at YATS!

  • Andrea Y.

Dang! That was tasty! Still hovering over my half and half Chicken Creole (I think) and Spinach & Mushroom. Super, super nice guy at the counter, gave me samples to help me choose, and friendly faces behind the window where my food came out (fast!). The guy at the counter mentioned how they supply their bread and I was just like, uh-huh, ok, uh-huh... Barely looked at it, in full focus on the "real food"... Until I took a heavenly bite. This is bread living out its full potential. My first time here, and I don't live close, but I absolutely hope to be back.

I do like Yatz . . .overall. Its a good place. They have really cool food and a nice little setup. you basically get your choice of what I would call. . .stew-oups. All of these are served over rice and with a pretty damn yummy bread. overall I would give YATZ a 4-star. . .but the drama that went on there, and the fact they weren't prepared to manage it. . .annoyed me. I show up, and the guy is talking on the phone. Obviously with an irate customer. No one else is around to help. . so I wait there in a empty restaurant for . . maybe 5-10 minutes before he finishes up. I understand you have an irate customer. . .but why make two customers. I was about 2 minutes from just walking out. he said sorry. . .but thats about that You have to be staffed correctly. . . or handle these things correctly. I'll return to Yatz next time i'm in town. . . and hopefully I won't be impacted by the ill planned drama I hit when I stopped by.

Tasty food. Newbie friendly - you will be provided a sample upon request. Flavors range from sweet to spicy. Staff is very friendly and your food is served within 5 minutes.

  • Tabitha T.

I wasn't sure what to expect walking in, but the food was awesome!! I loved that you can get half of two portions that way you are not feeling like you missed out on anything. The drunk chicken was great, had intense flavors, and was a great surprise for being so far from Louisiana.

i am out of town for work and figured i would give this a shot. Wow, i will be back! food is excellent and not overly spiced, great value, friendly staff. you will not go wrong picking this spot!

  • Kevin H.

My favorite lunch spot in Carmel by far! I go there at least 3 times a week, and it never gets old. The food is fantastic. The inside is super cool and always has a great vibe. The staff at this location is second to none. They're always so nice, and genuinely care about the customer experience.

    (5)
  • Denise L.

I adore the drunk chicken. Like literally give this to me for my last dinner. The food is made to order so expect to wait. I attempted to call my order in, but unfortunately the girl who answered the phone couldn't comprehend that concept. I got a sample of the Chipotle alexio (while I waited for my food to be prepared) it wasn't really spicy for me personally it tasted as if it had a cream base & a nice helping of cheese. It lacked the burn I occasionally desire in spicy food.

  • Andrew J.

These guys have great service. The food is out to you almost as quickly as you can fill up your drink cups. This place is very casual. Great spot to go after a bender or while out shopping around 96th street. They do an amazing job with what we call "slop on top," which is basically stews, etoufees and soups put on top of rice. I've been an avid supporter of all their Northside locations. This is a great spot for a quick meal. Not my thing, but they have a ton of vegetarian options as well.

    (4)
  • Grant K.

Food is very tasty, but the reason I'm leaving a review is because every single time I've gone recently I've been really impressed by their staff. Since their menu rotates I keep asking how this or that dish is, and they always offer me a sample. They're very laid back, personable, never rush me to order, and at least once they've thrown in extra bread for no apparent reason. I can get down with that kind of treatment for $7. It may just be Yats, but I think they're second only to Zacky's Hot Dogs in my mental list of Most Genuinely Nice Restaurant Staffs.

  • Kristin F.

I have been eating Yats since 2005, and it just just as fabulous today as it was then! I used to go to the location in Broadripple, but now, thanks to the Carmel location, it is even more convenient. I am not a huge fan of spicy food, so I stick with the spinach and mushroom etuffee and the Maque Choux. Both are phenomenal, and they are even great mixed. Definitely one of my favorites!!

This place is awesome. Hot good food that is priced perfectly. The people who work here are nice. What else do you want??

  • Sarah C.

I guess I just don't see what all the fuss is about with Yats. Every time I've had it, it's "ok", nothing amazing. I like cajun/creole food, so it's not that I dislike this type of cuisine. I just think it's overrated. I think they could provide some better to go packaging for this type of food, it's always a mess. Even dining it, this type of food on a foam plate just seems cheap. And the bread always seem stale to me.

    (2)
  • John P.

Food is great, you know this. It's Yat's. A staple of Indy. What is even BETTER (and goes largely unappreciated I'm sure) is the fact that they don't try and be a sportsbar like every other restaurant in the country. NO TVs, no blasting music, no feel of a Sports-themed Cracker Barrel. Never change. Please. It's nice to eat a great, simple meal in peace. But bring hush puppies and I'd be in here every week.

  • Joel M.

Yats has done a good job at reproducing the same vibe, ambiance, and quality of food at all of their restaurants. This location is no exception and ,if anything, has a slight advantage over the 96th spot because of the sheer size of the place. What can I say about Yats that hasn't been said in other reviews (mine or others)? The food is unique, delicious, relatively cheap, and they have a counter-top full of hot sauces. The menu changes on a daily basis but they always have the mainstays (Etoufee, Gumbo, Jambalaya, etc.). Service is simple and quick, and the place has a very local/Cajun feel. My only complaint about Yats is the incredibly full feeling I get after overeating their delicious food.

    (5)
  • Chris S.

This place is awesome. I still don't understand how Cajun food is so popular in this neck of the woods. Yats always has something veggo friendly apparently. I had a spinach and mushrooms stew of some sort. Cash only, which is kind of a bummer unless you prepare for it. There are others in the area, but since I don't live here I will give this 5 stars until I can compare it to something else.

I went to the Greenwood Yats many years ago when I lived on the south side of Indianapolis, but don't remember it at all. Since moving to the north side, I've realized there's basically a Yats everywhere, from Fishers to Broad Ripple. Due to the pure convenience of having a Yats only a few minutes away (and my love for rice and beans), I simply had to try it. I ordered carry out from Yats, but did not pick it up and therefore cannot remark on the ambience of the place. The menu for today for Carmel's location was not up, so I called in to ask what food they had today. The guy on the phone seemed very hurried and I could barely understand him, so I just asked what vegetarian options they had (they had two options, but I decided on the B&B as opposed to the spinach and mushroom étouffée). Despite how busy the man who helped me on the phone seemed to be, he didn't act put upon and I figured he must just be in the middle of a lunch rush. This was not the case though, as apparently there were only a few other people in the restaurant at the time that my food was picked up. So, I'm not quite sure what the hurry actually was. The food itself met my expectations. It's very hearty, filling, flavorful, and fresh. The portions are pretty generous. I got a full dish of the B&B and only ate about half of the main part (not the bread), but was completely full. The bread comes with every dish as a side and is the perfect example of a baguette. It's chewy on the outside, soft on the inside, and almost sweet (in a very subtle way). It's basted with the most delicious orange colored butter and herbs. My only complaint is that they were a bit too stingy with the butter for my liking, and didn't even cover half of either half of the baguette piece. The B&B is served with a bed of rice (as I believe all of their dishes are). The rice was soft and plain, pretty standard but good. The B&B is basically roasted corn, peppers, and black beans on a bed of rice. The corn, black beans, and peppers have a great roasted flavor, aren't mushy whatsoever, and have that same subtle sweetness! The vegetables are paired with a sauce that adds to the robust flavors, but I couldn't quite get a feel for what it tasted like because there wasn't much of it. Overall, Yats is a great place for a good and filling meal. The prices seem pretty fair and only a tiny bit too steep, due to how much food you're getting. Nothing is outstanding at Yats from what I've had so far, but it's good, simple food. I will definitely be going back and grabbing a slice of the famous peanut butter pie to try!

I went here with my friends and was sorely disappointed. Our food was nothing but differently-coloured slime and was served on foam plates. Disgusting. Would definitely not go back, not with 50 meters of the place.

I LOVE YATS!!! it never fails to make me happy! I def would classify it as slop on rice though.. hahha and not authentic cajun..but still quite tasty!

I loved the food here. Has a great vibe and the service is absolutely amazing. If I had to describe the food, its more like a great comfort meal type place. Easily a favorite and very much worth checking out. Nothing fancy, it's just plain ole good food for great prices. I highly recommend.

Yum-o! This was my first experience with Yats and it definitely lived up to the hype. My friend had been telling me for years that I needed to eat here and I finally got my chance at the new Carmel location. We stopped in last Friday and I was amazed! The B&B is to die for! I also had the chicken creole which was just as good. Food was incredible and service was perfect. I will definitely be making more trips to this wonderful restaurant!

I'm not a frequent reviewer but this place needs recognition. Everything on the menu is unique, amazing and full of flavor and spices! You can sample anything and it's all good. Been here 5 times now and tried 5 different plates and have loved them all.

Love Yats! I prefer the BnB but also got the Drunk Chicken the other day and it was amazing! The staff at the Carmel location is so friendly

If you like spicy cajun food and great value, Yats is the place for you. The Carmel location is about the same as the others from what I can tell. Big portions, cheap, and fast. My favorites are the spinach etoufee and lots of garlic bread.

First time here. I have enjoyed Gumbo-a-go-go for Cajun lunch in the past, but happened to be in this neighborhood and Yelpers raved about Yats, so here we are. I had the Red Beans (and rice) with smoked Sausage, she had Chili Cheese Etoufee with crayfish. Both the dishes were flavorful and generously portioned. I would get that Etoufee again for sure. The service is fast and friendly especially considering that it was the heart of the lunch hour - if you are in a hurry this is a good place to go. The place is nice and clean, but very basic, with Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, but I am sure that keeps the prices lower, and it doesn't bother me. I will be back next time I am in the area!

I really love Yats so when one opened up north near the workplace of the man I was super excited. How often do we head there for a quick dinner after work on Fridays? So often. Yes they are crowded and parking is difficult on Friday nights. But they are so quick and tasty. they are worth it. At Lunchtime this place is a no brainer. Super fast, super hearty, super good! Way better than grabbing fast food on our way to our Friday night adventure. V = they always have at least one option. At most places I would complain about being left with one option but the BnB and Spianch Etoffe are so good I can never decide between them anyhow. GF = just say no bread and ask the guy to make sure your selection isn't thickened with a rue or anything. You really don't miss out when going GF at Yats.

Love the focused menu. I've been there a few times. The gumbo was excellent. The Chipotle Alexio was great. The Ettoufee was really good. I will be back. The guys that work there love what they do and it shows. Wish they had better drink options and didn't use so much Styrofoam.

Just going to write a quick review. I've been to Yats a million different times at many different locations around the Indy area, and it is consistently delicious. I wouldn't give it 5 stars if I didn't mean it. I love this place and everything about it. It is a MUST try for anyone in or visiting the Indy area.

Finally! Yats in my belly! I couldn't have been happier with my first Yats experience. It was the perfect local Cajun creole foodstuffs that helped make the best work lunch outing known to man. The Carmel location is very nice and looks quite new. I ordered the half/half plate with one delicious side consisting of the out-of-this-world drunk chicken and the other delicious half consisting of chili cheese etouffee with crawfish. This food was incredible: the perfect blend of creole spicy and quality flavor. This Indiana version of Louisiana cookin' left me wanting more, endless amounts of more. Even though the food itself is already spicy, Yats offers a plethora of hot sauces to try out on your order. Each plate comes with a slice of crispy, tough yet not too tough, bread to accompany the cuisine. If you're feeling really adventurous, you can get dessert, more specifically, homemade peanut butter cream pie. I'm truly looking forward to going back to Yats, Carmel location, or any location!

Awesome food! Been here a few times. I've tried several of their dishes and love them all. Not the healthiest of foods, but definitely good for the soul. Friendly staff.

Food was great. Service was quick. BUT the amount of styrofoam made me cringe. EVERYTHING was served in styrofoam. They really need to get dishes or use recycled/ recyclable materials. Unacceptable.

If it did not serve on plastic plates and uri sales this would get another star. For what it is, great chili cheese shrimp étouffée and drunken chicken dishes. All serves over rice and very fast.

Great ambiance, food, and staff. Everything on the menu is delicious. Crawfish etouffe is most popular and for good reason. Cheesy, plump crawfish, perfect spices and a variety of hot sauce to jazz it up a level if you wish. But if you want to venture outside of the box try half orders. Mushroom etouffe, red beans and rice, white chile are my favorites. Xtra bread is recommended to finish the leftover sauce. Broad Ripple is cash only but other locations accept credit cards. All locations are excellent!!

Walked in and was quickly greeted by a very helpful employee that was more than interested in going through the menu with us. Had the chili cheese etouffe and it was great. Eats are cheap and tasty, menu changes a bit day to day. Plenty of parking behind the building if you can't find a spot on the street.

Amazing! As I write this review my taste buds are being treated to some amazing Chili Cheese Etoufee with Crawfish and Black Chili. Both amazing, just like all dishes here. Good food, portions, and price. The staff is always so friendly and the service is quick.

The bottom line is this place makes my favorite food in Indianapolis and it's a great deal. This location has only been open since May, so as of today it is still the newest. The employees recognize my name and always ask how my job is going, and seem to be genuinely good guys. I recommend all of the locations, but customer service for me will always remain paramount. Truly one of the best that Indianapolis has to offer!

Yats has done it again! It was great to find this new location, because it was convenient to our Wednesday night church plans. Though the decor and feel are a little more upscale than our usual 96th street fave, the delicious food, friendly service, and great prices are exactly the same. Their plans for regional domination are nearly complete, and I am a willing acolyte.

My sister and 4 kids went to a neighboring restaurant, something named Pickle in the same building as YATS. Unfortunately we had a "not so pleasant" server. We left with "to go drinks". One of the kids dropped their drink out in the parking lot in front of YATS. I was looking for a trash can when this young gentleman taking a break said, "I'll take that for you." my daughter is crying for a new drink. YATS employee who took my trash stops and says " what was she drinking." We told him, and with a blink of the eye, the young man came out and gave her a free "to go drink". That being said....I will never go to that Pickle restaurant again. YATS in Carmel is now my favorite place. If my kids are happy, mama's happy. We will now make this are new stop. CUSTOMER SERVICE means everything.

Average but worth a try if you just have to have something that has cajun/creole-like characteristics.

Great value. Great Cajun food. A new perfect lunch spot across from Meijer. I had a split plate: part vegetarian, part red beans with sausage. For $7.25 including tax it was a steal. Quck service. Nice restaurant although without the funkiness of the Mass Ave and College Ave locations (ok this is Carmel so what was I expecting). Recommended!

I love this place. My favorite is the Maque Choux. I also have to agree with most peoples choice of the Chili Cheese Etouffee. Look forward to coming back after each visit.

Great food at great prices! Can't go wrong whether it's étouffée, beans n sausage, drunk chic, or one of the varieties of choux. Every day a new menu, so there's loads of deliciousness awaiting. Can't wait til the brownies and peanut butter pie arrive, along with outdoor furniture. FINALLY YATS IN CARMEL!!!
