I usually save Yelp for the Mom and Pops but this place deserves this review. If you're like me - you've been disappointed for some time by the limited finger licking good chicken offerings on the north side. And having emigrated from the deep south, as well as having spent time finding good soul food in Detroit 20+ yrs ago, I can say - without reservation, this place is putting out some good chicken. Not as good as pan fried, but the spicy has a nice zip to it. Someone used "decadent" earlier here - fair enough, I concur. My spicy 3 piece lunch combo w/ mac n cheese was very good. I'll skip the mac and go with the fries next time - my buddy got the cajun fries - HUGE portion! 5 stars for a casual dining chain place. Yep. Now I need a nap.

This location is very disappointing. It starts with poor management and gets worse. I had a free 2 piece chicken offer they refused to acknowledge. There was no expiration on it and I earned it for doing their survey! They even got us to purchase a drink req'd with this offer we didn't need! They are obnoxious in the restaurant too. They are true hourlys and don't offer helpful suggestions. The sauces are limited in options too.

If I could give this place ZERO stars it still would be to much credit. The General Manager Darrion Brown was rude, unprofessional, arrogant and a total jerk. For a company to even hire this pompous idiot is beyond me. My community Popeye's would not get my business until this non customer service "manager" has been removed. Phone call placed waiting to be returned next letter to corporate I want be done until he's GONE!

It's a good thing KFC now has a competition in Carmel. Their chicken is pretty good for the price you pay. The biscuits are good and so are the fries. I'm not saying their chicken is as good as Roscoe's but it's decent for a fast food. They need to improve their sauces though. The condiments are blah in my opinion. My hubby and I tried each and every single one and wasn't really amazed or anything. Also, they need to have more legit "southern" desserts.

I read posts about the poor service and management at this location when I came on Yelp to complain. It pissed me off reading the reviews that commented on you only get good service if your black! I'm black and not hard on the eyes yet I still have received poor service. Get off your racist horses Carmelites! I've gone to this location about 4 times cause, you know, I'm black and we love our fried chicken. First 2 I only got the chicken and it was good. Next two I got sides and they are terrible! WTH do they do to them poor green beans. Mushy corn on the cob, to much dill in the cole slaw. Dried out jambalaya and macaroni and cheese. Today again they messed up the order, family 8 pack chicken and ordered 3 sides. Green beans, mac and cheese, jambalaya. They messed up the order so we had to go inside. Large mac and cheese was half full and dried out. The green beans were half full too. Then they gave us 2 large, 3/4 full of cole slaw and jambalaya. So we had 4 containers of almost full slaw and rice. AND THEY FORGOT THE DAMN BISCUITS! I new we should have checked better but I was ready to go and only wanted the chicken and biscuits anyway. The only reason I will ever go back is for just the chicken. But they need to get their employees in check first.

Service was OK. Place was clean. However, I was the only customer at 11:00am. Kind of odd. I ordered the Chicken Po Boy and mashed potatoes. They got the order wrong and had to redo it. It came out and everything looked fresh. However, I bit into my Chicken Po Boy and it was not spicy. I ordered it spicy with no mayo. It had mayo and no spice....hmmmm. I didn't feel like waiting again so I ate it. Was still pretty tasty. The mashed potatoes were very good. I will give this place a 2nd chance, as even with my order wrong twice, it was overall a decent experience. One final note I walked into the restroom to go to the bathroom and an employee was in there changing smoking marijuana. Class act place.

The staff was lethargic They counter guys told us the chicken had only been out for 5 min. So, it had been sitting there for at least 5 min. The restaurant had 1 family in the dining room and one older couple in the dining room. So why there was 5 lbs of chocked pre cooked sitting there is a head scratcher. When we did get the food it tasted like it had been sitting there a while...not good. We walked by 5-6 dirty tables before we found one that was cleaned. Nothing major just crumbs...you could tell someone ate there. It was our first time...don't think we will return. Seems like the dining room was an after thought...and needed cleaned.

First time visit to a Popeyes. Chicken was OK but staff and service were horrible. The guy taking our order was half asleep and not listening at all. I asked for a #3 with fries and a medium dink and he asked if I wanted fries and what size drink. Every word out of his mouth was mumbled. Never again.

Food came out hot and the kitchen seemed to be very good. However took almost 20 minutes to get through line at lunch. Cash register and expediter were struggling greatly. Seemed to lack good leadership. Not worth it if you are on a time crunch. Staff also not friendly unless you are black.

Oh, it is nice that Popeye's in Carmel vs, in the midst of Indy. I really like their spicy fried chicken. The fries and biscuits are great too. I don't care so much for their Cajun (dirty) rice. I like their soda fountain machine with probably over a 100 drink options. Diagonal parking on the west side and parallel parking on the east side of their building.

I don't do too many fast food reviews, boring. I had some business in Noblesville and came home thru Carmel to PU some kind of carry-out. Remembered hearing this place had opened, so we tried. Nothing to write home about. Chicken was a little spicy for me & I usually like spicy. I think we got ripped off because they gave us extra legs & no wings, without asking. -that means bucket of dark meat. The breasts seemed to have more breading & less meat than their competitors. (If because less hormones that's OK, but I doubt that). The mac & cheese was OK, but rather tasteless until I took it up a notch at home. I have to say I liked their biscuits, though I usually try not to eat white flour. They were crisp on the outside, not all soft like KFC. Hubster said, Honey I like your chicken & biscuits so much better. Really sweet, but whose frying chicken & making homemade biscuits on a Wednesday night??

Our visit to Popeyes was kind of a mixed bag. Hits...the Spicy Chicken and the biscuit were both very, VERY good. Yum!! Misses...the Cajun Fries were cold, and not spicy at all. They may as well call them bland fries. Service was good, not great. Still, we'll go give them another try.

As a loyal Popeye's customer, I was very excited Popeye's was coming to Carmel, and across the street from my office none the less. The new restaurant is beautiful and the staff is working hard to keep up the new restaurant feel of great customer service and even better food. I'm a 5 piece spicy strips, mashed % gravy kind of guy and have yet to have a strip not worthy of eating. and don't forget about those butter soaked biscuits!

I am a lifelong Popeyes fan from travels to the south and also the merilville IN location. I was very happy to see a new location in Carmel however having just eaten there I am very disappointed. I ordered the 3 piece combo with red beans and rice for a side. They gave me the meal straight away and obviously the chicken had been sitting a while because it was just warm. The 3 wings were very small, also I would have liked to have had a wing or breast. There was hardly any meat on the wings. The red beans and rice was very good however having hardly any chicken I was still hungry and ordered some fries which were stale and barely warm. Also a Customer came in from the drive through after eating 10 minutes for her order. Again very disappointed I hope they get their act together.

The wife and I checked out the new Popeyes in Carmel yesterday. First of all, they yell at you when you walk in the door. I personally hate that, but it's not that big of a deal. My wife wanted grilled chicken and discovered they don't carry that on the menu. yikes! The kid taking the order suggested Naked chicken strips. They were still deep fried, but had a pretty good seasoning on them. My popcorn shrimp was ok, not great, but just ok. They tasted like they had been cooked two hours ago and had been sitting in a warming try since then. Same thing for the French fries. They were a LONG way from being fresh. I doubt if we'll go back.

I hate to say it, but this location is very disappointing. The food quality is fine. The service is absolutely horrendous. Three times I bought food through the drive thru, and every single time the order was wrong. The first two times I didn't realize it until I got home. The third time I checked the order before I left, and they gave me the wrong side. I had to drive around again to get it fixed, and waited forever at the window for them to acknowledge me. Then when I got home I discovered that they gave me mild chicken rather than the spicy I ordered. I'm done.

Some of the new restaurant rush has subsided and you can now get your order very quickly. The chicken was juicy, red beans and rice were delicious, lots of sauce options for dippers and even the iced tea was good (which is a plus because fast food iced tea is usually horrible). It is a welcomed addition to Carmel and KFC is in serious trouble here. It is well priced, clean and the staff was friendly. I WILL BE BACK!

I really hate to do this... I really do. It breaks my little chicken loving heart. This location is the worst Popeye's I have ever been to. The service is terrible, the employees were grabbing fries and snacking on them, they were yelling at each other and calling names in front of customers and they are slooooooooooow. We waited about 10 minutes for cold chicken and rock hard, cold fries. I didn't complain while I was there because they had enough going on so I hopped online to express my dissapointing experience to corporate. It has now been two weeks and I didn't even get an "I'm sorry, come back and we will do better." That's all I want, admit you screwed up and that you value me as a customer. I visit the location at 86th and Michigan often since it is close to my office and they do a great job! Carmel location needs to clean house and start over... I will be staying far far away from that location which is a shame because it's so darn close to my house!

The quick summary after three visits: Decent food, poor service We have tried the Carmel Popeye's three times now. I had never been to a Popeye's before, so I have no other Popeye's to compare it to. I used to be a KFC fan, but I feel their food quality has dropped over the years. I like Zaxby's (another fast food chicken restaurant), but there aren't any Zaxby's in Indy (just one in southern Indiana and numerous southern states). So I was glad to have a new option for quick chicken in the Carmel area. The food is pretty good for fast food. Our family orders the chicken tenders and chicken nuggets. No complaints there. The fries are pretty good as well (with generous portions). We absolutely love the biscuits -- they are better than KFC's biscuits. The mac-n-cheese is pretty bland. Our family loves the Coke Freestyle machine for drinks, so we were glad to see it at Popeye's. The kids menu is not on the regular menu board. It's on a digital sign on a side wall near the cash registers, but it's a rotating digital sign so you have to wait for it to get to the screen with the kids menu and read it quickly before it goes to the next screen. I recall how crowded the restaurant appeared when it first opened in Fall 2013. We didn't try it until recently. We have now been there three times, and all three times the restaurant was practically empty, and I am guessing it's because of the poor service we have witnessed all three times we have been there. Over the course of three visits, we have witnessed numerous service issues. One customer had a large order and had to wait an unusually long time for his order to be ready, and then it wasn't right, and he had to wait a terribly long time for the corrected order to be ready, then he left with his order, and came back later reporting that he had missing items from his order, and then he had to wait even more. Another customer ordered something, it was rung up (I saw the order on the register because I was behind him), waited for it, then was told they don't serve that item any more and hadn't served it for months. He was very upset. Why would that item still had been on the register if they didn't carry it anymore, and why didn't the employee know they didn't have it? Multiple times we saw employees bringing out orders to drive-through customers (leading me to question the drive-through operational efficiency), and at least once I saw a drive-through customer come in because her order was wrong. On two of our visits, a lot of time had passed and our food still wasn't ready, and when I checked on the order, it turned out the order wasn't submitted to the kitchen so it was never in the queue. One visit it took 30 minutes to get our food, which is unacceptable for a fast food restaurant. We did get a nice apology from one of the managers, which was appreciated. The young employees do not seem well trained at all, so I blame the ultimate service failures on the local management and training. I would give them a better rating if the service was better. Because we like the food, we will go back, and hopefully we will see improvements the next time we go.

Popeyes is finally in Carmel, and it's packed. There's a cop car out front with its flashers on, either acting as a beacon for fried chicken lovers or as a warning for fried chicken lovers not from 46033 or 46032 to get their Popeyes fried chicken and then get the F out of Carmel afterwards. Anyways... You know what Popeyes is. You love it for the decadent, greasy, artery-clogging, tasty fried chicken. And this Popeyes doesn't disappoint. Now Carmelites don't have to travel to the old locations (since closed) by 38th Street. Strangely, having to risk my life for that sweet, sweet fried chicken added to its desirability. But I'll get by.

This place is kind of hit and miss sometimes cause depending ln the you order the chicken can either be fresh or old and not tasty. Nevertheless, popeyes chicken (spicy) is the bomb. Blows kfc out the water. So if you like spicy and want one of the best fried chicken. Popeyes wont disappoint. The thighs and drumsticks are certainly the best and most flavorful parts so go for those for ultimate greasy spicy heaven :) Tony

Its all in the attitude - as a first time customer I did not appreciate the attitude of the drive through attendant. If you hate your job quit - don't represent your company to a customer with a crappy attitude. We were under impressed. Charged for unrequested "upsize" of the diet sodas, advertised special sauce for promoted menu item unavailable - no explanation and more attitude when asked about it. Food is decent - but we may not go back. And a note to reviewer Chantelle - the issue of race was raised in an Indy residents review - not one from Carmel. I understand the anger but place blame where it is due.

I'm done with this location. Worst service even with their drive through. Almost every time I've been here, they have messed up something in my order. Seems like no one working there cares about cleanliness either, because my drink cup was covered in a sticky red goop, outside the cup and inside the rim too. I like Popeyes, but this place has angered me for the last time. Im out!

Seems like no one working there cares about cleanliness either, because my drink cup was covered in a sticky red goop, outside the cup and inside the rim too. I like Popeyes, but this place has angered me for the last time. Im out!
