The first Mellow Mushroom my family stumbled upon was in Asheville, NC.... and well instantly fell in love. It was a few years later when I realized it was a franchise, and I was ecstatic to know there was one in Carmel. This location is very clean and friendly. Love trying the different unusual pizzas and the crust is as good as it gets! My personal favorite is the Barbecue chicken, delightful! The only downside is sometimes found in the ambience. They have a bar area but I feel as though it's hard to separate the family-friendly area.

Hard to review MM. Always feel like the place has a bit of an identity crisis. Hippy-drug art on the wall, healthy and vegan and gluten free options, family friendly, with a bar? Pizzas here are original, with tons of vegetarian and vegan options. Ingredients are fresh, crust is different than other pizza places' (thick, buttery, chewy). MM can even make a gluten free pie. Oh yeah, the bruschetta is awesome - perfectly ripe tomatoes with zippy basil. So why 3 stars? Despite not being busy, the pizza each time we've gone takes close to an hour from ordering to serving. Servers aren't attentive and you end up feeling forgotten about. For the price of the pizza, the service kinda sucks in general. Though the crust is good, if I'm paying 25 bucks for a pizza, I want less dough and more toppings/sauce. I'd say MM is worth it if you are in the area. Or if you are seeking a unique veggie pizza (portabellas, artichokes, tofu, red potatoes, vegan cheese). Otherwise...it's just OK and not worth the drive.

Visited late on a Friday night. We enjoyed the outdoor patio seating. The menu variety allowed us to tailor our dinner to accommodate the table's wishes. They offer a gluten free menu which we did not try but if the quality matches the rest of the dishes then it should be delicious. We ordered a medium pizza that had feta, banana peppers, pepperoni, and olives. The pizza was quality from the perfect crust to the fresh ingredients. It is not the usual doughy crust but still a nice texture and thick enough to hold the cheese. The flavors stood well individually and the pizza wasn't soggy or oily. We ordered to split between 3 adults and it was just the right size. Our friend ordered a hoagy which was huge and he gave it the thumbs up. The sprouts were a nice addition :) They also serve beer which is good to know for an adult evening. Overall, we really enjoyed our first visit and will be back!

I lived in Tempe, Arizona for 6 years and LOVED the Mellow Mushroom on Mill Ave. When I found out there was one in Carmel, I was worried it would disappoint. Disappointing is the last word I would use to describe my experience here. It lived up to the standard set by the Tempe location and then some. Love the decorations. I recommend the Parmesan Garlic Pretzels and Beer Cheese as well as the pizza. This place is SO TASTY and reasonably priced. The service was fast and the servers were friendly.

Great pizza, excellent customer service. Had the Magical Mystery pizza-it was delicious!! Preferred it over the Philosopher. I have also been to an out of state location of this restaurant and had a great experience.

The food is to die for. Plus the decorations are super radical.

Mellow Mushroom is my favorite pizza place in Carmel. If it was up to me, my office would always order their pizza from here instead of Bellacino's. I love the hippie vibe inside the restaurant. There's a huge mural on the wall depicting psychedelic 60s music and culture which is entertaining to look at while eating. Unfortunately it's a draw for families with loud and annoying children, but that's not something I can change. I'd say that's the only real drawback I've encountered. My step-mom is gluten free, so I tried some of the gluten free pizza and I weirdly liked it a lot. Don't knock it until you try it. They also have a lot of options for veggie pizzas, which is a huge plus for me. And it's all very reasonably priced with great service. Win!

This is some good pizza fo sho! My friend told me there must be something in the crust, and I agree; it's addicting! Not literally, of course. Hehe. I tried the Funky Q Chicken pizza and LOVED it. They got the Magical Mystery Tour and Hawaiian and were equally pleased with their picks. If you're with the kids, then you can take them over to watch their pizza being made. You can watch them toss the dough and everything. Wicked cool, man!

This is not your New York pizza. This is your amazing, fresh, artisan pizza. I knew that MM was good when I tried it years ago, but recently I went with friends. I was worried that it might have slid in quality, but NOT SO! We got a house (?) pizza for the adults and sausage for the kids, and all was eaten, down to the crumbs. The kids got to look at the Mushroom Bus, which made them happy, and I also liked the music, classic rock. The service was quick and very pleasant, the tables clean, the pizza piping hot, and the flavors delicious. The crust was good. For a New Yorker, that's saying something. It's a great place for pretty much any pizza fan.

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite pizza places! The generous toppings and variety of options is part of what makes their pizza great, but what really makes it is the crust. I love getting the pretzel appetizer which is just their pizza crust in the form of pretzels with a couple dipping sauces. Heaven!

Ordered carry out. Pizza was yummy. Bit pricey which would stop us from ordering there often. $40 bucks for two pizzas is kinda crazy but we did enjoy it.

This place really did not do it for me. I thought the food was bland and yucky at BEST. Nothing tastes at all homemade about anything here. Staff was friendly, let me sit on the patio with my dog. That part was nice.

Mellow Mushroom is just about our favourite pizza joint in the area. Great service and great pizzas. Love the Kosmic Karma and the Might Meaty. Good pretzels, too. Always glad to visit.

Thanks so much for your gluten free pizza. I know it's kind of a fad diet right now, but not for me. I have to eat gluten free. That's why it's so great to find someone who will sell a great pizza I can eat. By the way, your pizza tastes fantastic!

I came into the Mellow Mushroom with high hopes, since I've grown accustomed to some great craft pizza joints here in the northern Indy suburbs of Carmel and Westfield. Despite all the funky decor and theming, I was a little disappointed at the quality of the pizza. Certainly not bad, but nothing stood out. Unfortunately, I just don't think it can compete with the likes of Crust, Pizzology and the other top-tier boutique pizza restaurants. Maybe they're not trying to be top-tier, which I can understand. Service was poor, however. We were in a party of 6, and everyone's drinks ran dry multiple times. Our server disappeared for 10-15 minutes at a time, which is never good. I'll probably give them another try, but so far there isn't much positive to say.

Finally! We've finally found a decent pizza place on the Northside. Mellow Mushroom's pepperoni pizza is almost exactly what I want when I want "pizza": chewy crust with just a hint of crisp at the ends (NOT CRISPY-CRISPY crust), tangy sauce, stringy cheese (and lots of it), and pepperoni that you can easily peel off. The slices are huge, which is fine by me. A large is just shy of $20, which is awesome.

Great staff! Super amazing place for a pizza joint ! ( wasn't on my top list to visit ) but they defiantly proved me wrong ! Hands down best pizza in town!

Is it more expensive than a lot of pizza joints? Yep. Is it worth it? No question, in my book. The pizza is always hot and fresh, with plentiful toppings. My go-to is the Mighty Meaty. My wife is a bit more adventurous, and she often opts for one of their artisan pizzas. Add to that a decent selection of local and regional beers, and stellar service every time we've gone there, we think it's worth the higher price for the higher quality food and service. We're regulars.

Yum! My friend and I were fairly hangry and MM was the closest place and neither of us had ever been. Very chill pizza place - was nice that there's an adult area [bar] and a family area. There were a fair # of kids there but we didn't hear it thanks to the separation. It was fairly dead and a non-busy time for food, so we go our food fairly quickly. Pretzel sticks + beer cheese AND marinara = uhhh-mazing. The beer cheese alone was tasty! Both of us got calzones which appeared very huge- we thought we'd be able to conquer them entirely, but that wasn't the case. Don't let your eyes fool you. My leftovers made for a great lunch. Overall - great place, now I know what the Lafayette people clamour for. The girl did mix up our bills & charge my friend's amount on my credit card and vice versa but it didn't really matter since we both spent the same amt roughly.

We enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere and fresh from the oven pretzels appetizer. We mistakenly thought they were pretzel bites so we ordered the full size order of 7 pieces. Wow, no the 7 piece appetizer was 7 full size pretzels! There is a great variety of toppings to choose from and they also offer dairy free cheese which is a great option for lactose intolerant kids. On the downside the toppings were a bit on the skimpy side and the pizza was just okay. Not amazing, but all around a solid option for a casual family friendly pizza place.

After raving recommendations from my co-workers, I thought I'd go out of my way after work to get this "awesome" pizza at Mellow Mushroom. Initial thought as I picked up my pizza at the counter. I can imagine a hipster in super-flared bell-bottoms walking in bare-footed with hairy armpits, stoned, hallucinating at the thoughts of flower-power, peace-signs, and magic mushrooms. Ok...well...that doesn't fit my self-description. Har har. I really wanted to love the pizza, but I was sorely disappointed. I didn't see what was so special between Mellow's vs. other pizza joints (unless you spiked it with some magic mushrooms maybe). If I went to Papa Johns, Donatos, Pizza Hut...I could get boxes and more boxes of pizzas for $30. Nothing to rave about, just a mediocre pizza with no pizzazz. Credits to the ultra-fresh ingredients, but the pizza dough was just too chewy for my liking and it reheated to a soggy-mess in the oven. Perhaps if I ate in next time, I'd be able to enjoy it fresh in this cool-vibed atmosphere.

This was the first visit to the Mellow Mushroom. I was pleased with the extensive menu choices. Not just your average pizza. Our pizza came out slightly wrong, but the waitress was quick to spot it, and get a new one in right away. We ended up with a ton of leftovers due to the extra pizza, which I will gladly consume! The pizza was really good! I also noticed a "frequent diner" discount on my bill (which I'm obviously not, yet) which was maybe for the mix-up? In any event, the pizza was great, the service nice and attentive, and it ended up being super cheap. We'll be back.

Frankly I am surprised to give such a high rating but I will explain I arrived with four kids and was told they were short staffed and it would be a minute to be seated I went to the bar to get a beer and upon return the kids all had drinks provided by the host so far so good we were seated but didn't see a waitress for over 20 minutes and not until I asked they completely forgot god news is we had several friends there and were in conversations we finally ordered and when the food arrived it was good as usual and enjoyed by all our server was very apologetic the entire time and I was comped my beer and we received a coupon for the next visit frankly it was a horrible start but the staff was genuinely concerned once aware food was great and we will go again because they made things right one note to management - schedule wait staff more effectively

Pizza chain based in Atlanta, one I am familiar with and enjoy very much. New York Style pizza, very fresh ingredients. I love their pizza, thin, chewy large slices. Good salads, like their hummus appetizer. Excellent selection of craft beers too. Not big on the location, good staff, its clean but lacks any atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the pizza. Went in for an afternoon snack. A 10" small pizza and a drink was under $14. Dough was good, and the toppings were tasty. It was worth it. I'll be back to try and larger pizza and a beer some night soon.

11 July 15 my wife and I were in the area Carmel area and a couple of my friends were talking this place up. Since we were in the area I asked the wife if she would like to go. We walked in the place wasn't too busy. Hostess greeted us and said we could sit anywhere. So we sat down and looked over the menu chatted it up and before we knew it 15 mins has past and no waiter/waitress to help us. Once again the place wasn't packed. Finally a waiter comes and asks if anyone has helped us. We stated no and proceeded to order our drinks, appetizer, and medium size pizza. Appetizer and drinks came out and shortly after the pizza. We had the Maui Wowie pizza and appetizer were awesome! Unfortunately we couldn't say the same about our waiter. After the pizza came out we didn't see our waiter until we were almost finished with our meals. Had to motion for him to come over so we could get a refill of our drinks.

Below average experience. $41 for two pizzas. The crust was a chewy doughy one that took over the experience. Doable if u have something to dip it in. Otherwise, it just goes to waste. Sauce, cheese, toppings all below average. The search continues.

Fabulous pizza. crazy fun environment. I wouldn't waste my time on the pretzels...they're just basic breadsticks folded into the pretzel shape. We took 2 small children and had a great time--not too fancy, family friendly. Pizza was a tad on the expessive side, but well worth it! They have an impressive "on tap" list, including daily specials. We'll definitely go back!

Wow. Something is wrong. Not the Mellow I have gone too before, admittedly awhile ago. Arrived via Groupon on Friday night. 8:30 ish. Saw lots of dirty tables but tole it was a 10-15 min wait. Was more like 20. Ordered pizza and soup for me. About 20 min later some gloppy, grainy, very lukewarm stuff called mushroom soup arrived. Horrible! Immediately put to side. Waited for pizza and waited. Had to keep nibbling on soup cuz I was starving by now. Pizza came. Expecting my Mystic and 1/2 redskin potato pie to be piping hot. Was lukewarm. How does that happen?!? Flavor good but slices all over the place. One piece was 1/2 dough & 1/2 toppings. Had to ask for some tomato sauce to at least use the dough to fill my hunger. Bought 2 Groupon so have to go back. Stay tuned.

This is one of my new favorite restaurants, even though it's about 30 minutes from my house. Since becoming vegan, I mourned the loss of good pizza. I even tried cheese-less pizza, and it just wasn't the same. I mean, pizza without cheese? Crazy talk! I heard that Mellow Mushroom has vegan dough and can make any pizza vegan, so we decided to take the drive out there. While browsing the menu, I realized that they also add Daiya mozz shreds to any pizza and wanted to jump for joy. I got the Holy Shitake pizza, with vegan cheeze and I fell in love with pizza all over again. Mellow Mushroom is definitely on my list of places to frequent when I'm sick of slaving over vegan eats in the kitchen. When we went the first time, we were a little thrown off by the overwhelmingly amount of kids there since we weren't really expecting it on our date night. It's definitely a place to bring kids, and the second time we came, we brought my boyfriend'y 6 year old son and he loved it!

I really love the Zen-ness about this place. The staff are very friendly and funny. The place reminds me of the 60's (I think that's the idea). Sandwiches - way cool they have tempeh and tofu sandwiches among their big selection. They are delicious. Pizza - Wow, I was surprised. It was delicious. Six of us ordered a different pizza per couple - 3 different pizzas - all wonderful, hot and so good I couldn't believe it. Now I'm a regular and will be as long as they're open. Great food, great atmosphere and they won't make you break the bank.

The food was great - the service was average at best. The pretzels are a must. Chesse and marinara are a must. The pizza and atmosphere were great , the only disappointment was having to wave at or wait on our server for drinks.

Here is an awesome pizza shop. I have only been there a few times, but I love it everytime I go. The food is great and the staff is as well. The inside of the shop has a very neat decor, not your regular pizza place. Stop by and check it out, it's worth it!

The main thing wrong with this small chain, for me, is the over-the-top hippie decor. There's a tie-dyed VW bus in the dining room, a ceiling-high mushroom just inside the door, and goofy cartoony pizza-re-themed paintings. I think kids enjoy it though, and it emphasizes the casual vibe in there. They have a really nice selection of draft beer (8?), most of it from craft breweries. In Indy the local feature is Upland but different areas will have different selections. When we were there they had Guinness, Sam Adams, Upland Wheat, 2 different Bell's, Magic Hat #9, maybe Blue Moon, and at least one other. Our server was nice, friendly, and quick. We had the meatball app to start. A slice of fresh mozzarella was the "cream filling" between each half of 3 good-sized meatballs, which were served lollipop style on a bed of tasty marinara, topped with fresh Parmesan curls and shreds of fresh basil. Yum! I would've preferred the meatballs slightly hotter-I think the cheese cooled them down some. We decided to go with the 10" Hot Potato Pie for $10.99. My partner usually doesn't want to try "weirdly sauced" pizza-any sauce that isn't tomato doesn't belong in his opinion, so it took some convincing. The pizza was fantastic! Mellow Mushroom uses a slightly sweet whole wheat dough-it walks the line between soft and chewy very well. Hot Potato Pie is garlic & olive oil, sliced potatoes, bacon, 2 kinds of cheese, onions, a little zesty ranch, a bit of sour cream on each slice, and a sprinkle of chives. You can watch the cooks hand-stretch the dough and actually see into most of the kitchen. The pizza was delicious and the toppings were applied with care evenly over the pie and none of his onions strayed over onto my half. I recommend this place, either for families or adults dining without kids. If you don't want to sit around the noise of children, there is a well-separated bar area.

This place is strange. Its kinda got the feel of a la Bambas meets Fantasia....the Disney Movie not American Idol contestant. Gigantic fiberglass mushrooms, trippy murals, and I seem to remember the front of an VW bus....this place has to owned by some former dead heads. Game on! The food was different too. The crust was dense and dark. I can easily say I've never had crust like this at a pizzeria. It looked healthy like maybe they used whole wheat flour. The toppings were more familiar. We ordered The Mad Italian:Pepperoni, Banana Peppers, Feta. It was a greasy little number that was satisfying but not earth shattering. Service was very polite and accommodating.

What a delicious pizza restaurant! Very unique, too. The inside is decorated beautifully and the food was amazing. We went here on a group work lunch and I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. The service, atmosphere, food, and interior were all perfect. I ordered the small, 10-inch Magical Mystery Tour pizza, which was perfectly sized and tasted spectacular. This pizza consisted of a pesto base with button and Portobello mushrooms, feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach, jalapenos, on a brown pesto crust. It was delicious and spicy. After about the second piece, I started to feel the heat. The crushed red pepper probably didn't help either. My coworkers ordered combinations of avocado hoagies with seasoned avocado, onions, Provolone, mayo, lettuce, Roma tomatoes, topped with sprouts, and a house calzone. They also have a great lunch special that includes a drink, two slices of pizza, and a salad of your choice. To start the meal, we ordered the pretzel appetizer, and they were unbelievable. They were big, doughy, and delicious, and came with your choice of garlic butter, marinara sauce, or cheese sauce. There are six of these big pretzels. What I found really interesting about this pizzeria is that they have a great selection of craft beer! If you're in Carmel and looking for great pizza, definitely visit Mellow Mushroom.

I think others have over-rated this place, so I'm just giving it a 2 when it probably deserves a 3. However, the place is pretty dang pricey. It was $90 for 2 pizzas, small order of wings and an order of pretzels. Okay... add 4 beers to that, because that was probably the most redeeming value. Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but a place like Fireside Pizza serves a better product for a cheaper price. I guess people pay more because (#1) it's Carmel and (#2) the "ambiance" - which wasn't all that special. Would I go there again? Hmmm... doubt it (PS, one of the pizzas was gluten free for my wife and the crust was not tasty compared to other gluten free crusts) Credit is deserved for the service, but with pizza this pricey tips are far greater than your average pizza joint.

Great place with unusual pizzas.....but their crust is awesome. Service is good enough but not great. We will be going back! Oh yeah, awesome beer selection.......on tap!

This artisan pizza is incredibly tasty. There are lots of different toppings you can order, as well as their own specialty pizzas. The crust is different from other pizza establishments - and I just love it! It's a little thicker and chewier, but it works. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy a good thin and crispy crust pizza...but it's more than just the texture. The crust's flavor is unique and has more depth than other pizza crusts. You can read about their crust on the menu. I love that my fiance and I can go in and get a small pizza and two side salads for around $20, depending on the type of pizza we order. Sometimes it's a little more, but always totally worth it! If cheap pizza in large quantities is what you want, stick with the chains in the area (believe me...we do that sometimes, too!) But for a good quality, grown-up pizza for a more discerning palate, you can't go wrong with Mellow Mushroom.

Mellow Mushroom is one of my top two favorite places to eat in Indianapolis. Granted, I haven't been here long, but I don't foresee my top two shifting anytime soon. Mellow Mushroom is big, accommodating, and fun - oh, and freaking delicious. They have a bunch of vegan options for pizzas too! I've gone three times now and have been absolutely astounded each visit. The pizza is terrific! They've got pizza, sodas, beers, and soft pretzels - how could you go wrong? It's the kind of place you could bring just about anyone to and they could like it. One con: the waitstuff doesn't write down your order, which when you're piling ingredients onto your pizza, means your pizza pie might end up looking a little different than you anticipated. I'm just stoked to have such great vegan pizza in Indy.

My order: Called in for pickup a small Margarita pizza on gluten free crust (Mom is gluten free). Oh wait, you can't get a small with gluten free crust. Fine, make it a medium. "That will be $19 (and some change)". Mmmm . . . i think while staring at the online menu. "It says a medium Margarita pizza is $15.99 (a bit pricey I think but the reviews are great and I want to try it)" "Sorry, sir, it's actually $17.99 before tax. The corporate office hasn't changed the online menu." Ok, fine. Even though a 4th grader could change and upload a new .pdf menu in about 10 minutes these days. Whatever, they tell me 20 minutes and it'll be ready. Pick up the pizza and just out of curiosity I look at the physical menu in the restaurant. It also says, medium Margarita pizza $15.99. I ask about that and get the same answer i got on the phone. Fine, I'm hungry. Here's $20. Give me my pizza. The Pizza It's completely flavorless. No taste to the cheese. I'll forgive the crust. There's maybe a teaspoon of garlic and maybe a tablespoon of olive oil. Neither of which you can taste. Then there is only one thin slice of tomato on each slice of pizza and the basil was pretty much non existent. A huge disappointment all around. This pizza was far worse than any frozen pizza I've bought at a store. I totally regret not just going into Marsh and buying and Amy's pizza and making it myself for 1/3 of the price. $20 for a Margarita pizza? Fine, MM, step up your game and quit skimping on the toppings! Your pizza sucks! And it's illegal to advertise things for one price and charge another. Horrible.

So I went to the Mellow Mushroom while visiting some family in Orlando. OMG I had the potato one...soo good. I made everyone go back while we were still in Orlando and got the Holy Shitake Pie. Mmmm. Anyhow after that I was sad because I thought it was local to Orlando. But then I was searching Yelp for somewhere to eat in carmel before our new years laser flash bash and this showed up. I called and made a reservation for ten ppl and everything was no sweat. We got our pizza in good order. My husband and I are both vegetarian and this place is just great for us, so many options. Also I love their crust, I don't know what they do but its not like regular pizza crust is brown and sweet and delicious. We got the hawaiian with buffalo sauce instead of red sauce, and bbq tofu instead of ham. Mmmm delicious. I love this place and I love how open they are to ordering crazy things. Even my sister who kept saying Oh I don't want pizza I don't want pizza got pizza when she saw all the options. Even though she was totally going to get a sandwich...she just had to try it. I will totally be coming back

Come stoned, come sober, it doesn't matter much because the pizza here is outstanding no matter where your mind is. As the name might imply, this place is any classic hippie's magical, mystical fantasy adventure in a tricked-out VW bus through a tie-dyed cloud of magic and pot smoke to a land overflowing with delicious pizza with extra mushrooms (if you know what I'm sayin'). The campy, sometimes phallic art is technically awful, but awfully endearing. One bite of the Mad Italian pizza and I can forgive the mural of anatomically atrocious man-shrooms carousing with David Letterman, and most especially the artist's disturbing attempt at a sexy shroom-lady. They have a wide variety of toppings for the discerning pizza consumer and I was especially impressed by their solid sauce substitutions. Sick of a stock red sauce? Opt for the oil and garlic base and make sure you've securely fastened your seatbelt for the deliciousness that's about to ensue. You really can't go wrong with any of their pre-built pizza choices with such endearing names as "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Kosmic Karma". Their Red Skin Potato Pie is heart-stoppingly delicious, but make sure you get your Bayer aspirin in before you go; Potatoes, onions, cream, ranch and bacon are taking no prisoners and your arteries and taste buds are probably going to be at odds. Personally, I'll side with my taste buds any time! The service is always prompt and friendly, the atmosphere perfect for inviting along a few of your closest buddies/dealers. Don't let the tame building facade and yawn-inducing strip mall it's in fool you: the location is unassuming, but the food is amazing.

Great menu selection as well as the beers on tap. A nice find in a sea of BS that makes up Carmel. Magical Mystery Tour pizza is the only pizza I get there and I absolutley love it. I have tried pizza all over the country and, by far, this is a great pie.

I was invited here by a friend and let me just say I WILL be returning soon. I had a slice of pizza that was N.Y. style which is to say a huge, floppy, foldable slice of warm-gooey goodness. The dough was obviously made from scratch and the toppings were fresh. I also had a calzone which was HUGE and equally amazing. The atmosphere is very family friendly with video games and such for the kids if you have them. Add to that a clean restaurant in a nice area and this place comes up a winner!

What style of pizza is this? Everyone seems to have their idea of what pizza "should" be and is "supposed" to be. It's not New York, Chicago, Italian and whatever else you can throw out. You could say it's Atlanta style since Mellow Mushroom did originate there. This like the "Ben & Jerry's" of pizza but, better. The crust is thin, not too thin, made with whole wheat, Parmesan and spring water. The sauce is made with ripe tomatoes. The cheese has flavor. I only top mine with cheese and shrooms. The only way you could not like this pizza is if you think you are a big pizza snob and you think you know what pizza is and should be. You'd simply not like it for the sake of not liking it. Well, unless you don't like pizza. Saying you don't like pizza is like saying all shades of blue are the same. I live in Chicago and one of my main points of visiting Indianapolis is Mellow Mushroom as well as Luna Records. I'd trample across a field full of flaming hot Chicago style pizza for just one slice of MM. There are Mellow Mushrooms all over the South and a few other places and it tastes the same and great no matter which one I visit. Oh, and don't let the name and the Deadhead look of the place scare you away! I don't care much for hippies, I always thought they were judgemental and hypocritical jerks. I like the hippie Neil from "The Young Ones" though!

We went to Carmel this weekend specifically to go to the Mellow Mushroom and we weren't disappointed. We ended up eating here twic in two days. My friend loves this place and we were celebrating her birthday. The olive oil and garlic base is definitely the way to go. It's absolutely delicious, whereas the tomato base has a little bit of a weird texture and just isn't quite as good. I highly recommend the gluten free crust, though, if you are gluten intolerant. It tastes really good! The decor in here is fun. It has mushrooms everywhere and a funky mural on the wall. It was definitely worth the 3 1/2 hour drive. I'm sure we will be back.

There was nothing bad about this place, but nothing outstanding either. I got a hoagie and was a bit dry. Servers were never in a hurry. I sat at the counter and saw my food setting ready for several minutes before anyone picked it. It was far from the busy time of day either. So while you won't get a bad meal hear, it wasn't good enough for me to want to go back.

First encountered Mellow Mushroom Pizza in Georgia when we lived there and we became fans. We were really pleased to find one in Carmel when we moved here. Great pizza in a fun psychodelic atmosphere. If anyone was familiar with The Flying Tomato in Muncie or Garcia's in Bloomington, think that kind of enviroment. The pizza is completely different though. Mellow Mushroom is a thinner crust pizza and has great toppings.

I absolutely love everything about dining at the Mellow Mushroom. This is the best pizza in town, and the staff is awesome...especially Holly. The quality of the dough and ingredients the use is way above anyone else in the area. Great beer selection as well.

Great pizza, relaxed atmosphere. They have some pretty cool pizza combos that are always delicious!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

(5)Sal W.
Great pizza, excellent customer service. Had the Magical Mystery pizza-it was delicious!! Preferred it over the Philosopher. I have also been to an out of state location of this restaurant and had a great experience.
(5)Noah T.

Win!
(5)Emilee B.
(5)Carolynn N.
(5)Emily C.
Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite pizza places! The generous toppings and variety of options is part of what makes their pizza great, but what really makes it is the crust. I love getting the pretzel appetizer which is just their pizza crust in the form of pretzels with a couple dipping sauces. Heaven!
(5)Robert C.
Ordered carry out. Pizza was yummy. Bit pricey which would stop us from ordering there often. $40 bucks for two pizzas is kinda crazy but we did enjoy it.
(4)Crystal K.
This place really did not do it for me. I thought the food was bland and yucky at BEST. Nothing tastes at all homemade about anything here. Staff was friendly, let me sit on the patio with my dog. That part was nice.
(2)Michael J.
Mellow Mushroom is just about our favourite pizza joint in the area. Great service and great pizzas. Love the Kosmic Karma and the Might Meaty. Good pretzels, too. Always glad to visit.
(5)Steve S.
Thanks so much for your gluten free pizza. I know it's kind of a fad diet right now, but not for me. I have to eat gluten free. That's why it's so great to find someone who will sell a great pizza I can eat. By the way, your pizza tastes fantastic!
(5)Tom B.
(2)Nicole S.
(4)Carley P.
Great staff! Super amazing place for a pizza joint ! ( wasn't on my top list to visit ) but they defiantly proved me wrong ! Hands down best pizza in town!
(5)Rick G.
(5)Alex W.
(5)N S.

(4)Norm C.
(4)Christina D.
Great pizza and a unique atmosphere! We had the mighty meaty and pretzel bites. Very delicious! Our waitress behind the bar was so sweet and very accommodating!
(5)James S.
Was visiting Indy for work and stopped here for lunch. Friendly staff and quick service. Greek salad and pizza was excellent. Will return.
(4)Allen H.
(4)Katie H.

(2)Jim W.
Below average experience. $41 for two pizzas. The crust was a chewy doughy one that took over the experience. Doable if u have something to dip it in. Otherwise, it just goes to waste. Sauce, cheese, toppings all below average. The search continues.
(2)Smitty S.
Excellent pizza. We drove from west of chicago and the food and service were amazing!
(5)Shannon C.
Wow! I've finally found my happy place for pizza! Had the Holy Shiitake Pie and it was amazing!! Will most definitely be back!!
(5)Paul K.
Great family pizza dining experience! Pizza is up there with the best in town! Will come back!
(4)Ashley W.
(4)Richard F.
Delivery stops at 8:30 not 9:30.
(1)Patty M.

(5)Christy M.
Went to one in Fleming fl back in January. Had a great time and good food. We came across this one and had to bring my kids since they weren't with me in fl. They loved the pizza. The beer selection is awsome also!
(5)M S.
Great pizza and wine... Kid friendly too!
(5)L. R.
(5)Ryan C.
The food was great - the service was average at best. The pretzels are a must. Chesse and marinara are a must. The pizza and atmosphere were great , the only disappointment was having to wave at or wait on our server for drinks.
(4)Jerry M.
Love the pizzas at this place, nice variety and some unusual ingredients that you typically don't find other places. The decor is getting a bit "worn", but it's not offensive.
(4)Emily W.
One word....PRETZELS! They are worth their own trip! I really like this place! It is simple and no-fuss!
(4)Kyle H.
Here is an awesome pizza shop. I have only been there a few times, but I love it everytime I go. The food is great and the staff is as well. The inside of the shop has a very neat decor, not your regular pizza place. Stop by and check it out, it's worth it!
(5)Brittany L.
(4)Kris P.
(4)Bodie S.
(5)Michael O.
(2)Kevin D.
Great place with unusual pizzas.....but their crust is awesome. Service is good enough but not great. We will be going back! Oh yeah, awesome beer selection.......on tap!
(4)Holly G.
(5)Bridget F.
(5)Tony T.

Went there last night and it was great...loud enough for kids but not too loud to talk. Pizza was perfect and Sun King drafts were $3.50.

I tried their lunch special for the fist time. It's a great deal! Salad, drink, and a HUGE slice of pizza with two toppings. I love this pizza!

Good food and a fun atmosphere that won't break the bank. Have had great service the few times I've stopped by.

Delicious pizza! Great variety of toppings! I would like a philosophers pie right now! On the expensive side-but like momma used to say: "you get what you pay for!" Love it!!
