We tried it for the first time using a GROUPON....well even with a 5 buck off $20 the food wasn't worth the price. Just too many better quality restaurants serving up good Italian food. We still prefer SAL"s or South of Chicago Pizza. This was worth a try but is not some place we want to go back for seconds. We did enjoy the Christian music that was playing in the restaurant - Thank you for that!

Amazing food and lovely owners. This restaurant offers a great atmosphere as well as patio seating. So Italian is one of my favorite local Brownsburg spots.

So Italian is a great family owned and family friendly Italian restaurant on Main Street/Crawfordsville Road. Decent size with lots of large tables for groups and outdoor seating when weather permits. Orders are placed at the counter and delivered to your table or order carryout. Our early lunch was terrific, timely, with great service. They have a breakfast menu as well as lunch/dinner menu along with daily specials. Eggplant lasagna or Homemade Gnocchi was calling my name after seeing the specials delivered but we had already ordered. Full Italian menu from pizza, sandwiches, spaghetti, salads, stuffed breadsticks and more. Three types of 12" breakfast pizza's are available or pizza by the slice. I highly recommend the Morning Pizza with bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, mozzarella and provolone cheese. Absolutely wonderful, cooked perfectly with a nice balance of ingredients to the tender crust. Our starter was Strawberry Delight Crepes with strawberry fruit glaze and Nutella topped with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce on homemade crepes. I know, starter?!! My son devoured the crepes and referred to these as "solid PB & jelly" sandwiches. I'm not sure what was happening 2-3 yrs. ago to create a couple bad reviews but our experience was terrific. We'll be back.

Classical suburban effort. Pole barn architecture with walk up counter service. Before you can even review the wall that is the menu, you can read hand written verses from the Bible, as you listen to Christian rock over head. Inviting to some, of course not all. Pretzel breadsticks are lovely. That's where it ends. Garden salad is literally iceberg with a fleck of carrot shred. No tomatoes, cheese or even croutons. Pizza has a nice chewy, yeasty crust, but mundane and sparse cubed toppings. Frozen pizza these days offers more compelling visual and culinary temptation. Price is rather high for offering. Pass.

Locally owned restaurant. Good size menu. Prices little high but again locally owned. Had spaghetti and meatballs- above average. Also ordered meat lovers cheese stuffed pizza. Cheese stuffed crust was undercooked and little too dough-tasting. Everyone that ate this was sick with GI issues after. Willing to give it another try but will be avoiding the cheese stuffed pizza

So Italian is a nice little pizza shop up B-Burg way. There isn't a ton of seating inside, but there's also seating on the patio, which would be nice during one of those times Indiana isn't frozen and snow-covered or melting beneath a scorching sun. The decor is a little... off, I guess, for my liking. But hey, it's not my restaurant. I came for one thing - scratch that - two things: pizza and stuffed breadsticks. Yup, you heard that right. Pepperoni stuffed breadsticks are a glorious invention that probably send the world's opinion of this country even lower, but I don't care because stuffed breadsticks are real and I want them in my belly. Their pizza, while maybe not as noteworthy as the breadsticks, is quite good. They've got some interesting combos, many of which sound good. The one we opted for really hit the spot (even if I can't remember what it was called...) and we even had some delicious leftovers to take home. So, is So Italian the best pizza shop in the world? Nah. But they've got some good food and I enjoy supporting local businesses. So give them a try next time you're in the area looking for a 'za.

We frequent this restaurant approximately once a month. It is a great change from fast food in Brownsburg. The restuarant is quite different from most in town and we like going there because it usually isn't very busy. Once you order and pay at the counter you seat yourself, they bring your food out, then you bus your own table. Due to this arrangement sometimes it's a little messy inside the seating area. The food we have had is great. We always have Vicki's cheese filled breadsticks for an appetizer. They are made in house and are delicious! For our meal we split one of their calzones. They are huge and easily feed 2 people. The only dish I tried and didn't enjoy was their tomato basil soup...truly bland!

Absolutely delish! Ignore all the bad reviews of this place, it was awesome! The service was great, they were friendly, fast, and the food is all homemade and yummy. They serve the beers in a nice frosty mug. It is also totally affordable. A great place for kids very casual great atmosphere. We had the margarita pizza, lasagna, chicken fettuccini alfredo, and for dessert we had cannolis and tiramisu it was delish!!!!!

They have a friendly staff but "So Italian" should be called "So Disgusting" instead. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but the food was just awful. I still shudder every time we drive past there. My mom warned me against the place but I had to know for myself. In this case I should have listened to her. We did not have the pizza, but the people who did looked like they were enjoying their meal. If the pasta dishes weren't so revolting I might give them a try in their pizza, but I get nauseous just thinking about going back there.

I only get one thing here and that's there double stuffed veggie pizza, which is delicious. This place doesn't have much of a vibe, but I always get take out, so biggie. I've seen some of their Italian dishes and they do look like something you would get at fazolis, but maybe they'll taste better.

This was the most unremarkable meal I've had in my life. Fazoli's is much better. I had over cooked angel hair pasta with tasteless marinara sauce and cheesy garlic bread that had no garlic flavor and *maybe* 4 shreds of mozzarella cheese on top. The sweet Italian salad dressing was the only good thing about the meal. All for measly $10. I could have fed two people at Fazoli's for $10.

So after living here 3 years and driving past this place daily we decided to have dinner here last night Wednesday July 1st. So first of all this is a order at the counter type place (my least favorite kind) but we went along with it. They had a couple teenage kids working the counter/register and they were either there because they were forced or because they only wanted the money as neither of them could tell us anything about the food or what was in/on it. So I just went by what sounded good to me and definitely ordered way too much food for two people. we got the Ryan's bread sticks order of 4 which hands down was better than anything else i will talk about today. I would go here just for those. They had several specials on a board but nobody could tell me what was on/in the food so I stuck with the menu and created my own pasta with alfredo sauce and add grilled chicken, I liked the Alfredo sauce and the grilled chicken was just ok, but my pasta was not only rubbery but it was ice cold. it came with a salad which was terrible, had brown lettuce all through it. Also came with even more bread which was good but I was filling up way too fast on bread. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza so we could taste that and it was decent. then we ordered a sampler which came with lasagna, spaghetti with meat sauce and pasta with Alfredo, again it had 4 pieces of this cheese bread. NO way we could eat all that food!!! They have several patio tables with umbrellas outside by the street which was nice, I had to beg one of the 20 people doing nothing behind the counter to come clean one so we could sit out there. They do have Pepsi products, bonus points. I would have given them a 4th star alone for the bread but I took one away for the poor service, ice cold pasta that tasted like chewing on a car tire, and the fact that nobody knew the menu or what was in the food. We definitely will go back but it will be for the bread and the pizza which thinking back is what everybody else was eating.

I'm not sure at which restaurant these other people ate. My wife and I make weekly visits to So Italian. We see a lot of people there, so it can't be too bad. I love their panzerotti, so full of mozzerella cheese, sausage and pepperoni with marinara on the side. The pasta is okay... I wouldn't go out of my way to go there for that, but the pizza is awesome. Yes, the service is not always the best, but it's a family-run place, so I'm not sure what these other people were expecting. It's not the Olive Garden, people, but it's good food and unique, authentic Italian and pizza for Brownsburg. Go downtown or to one of the chain restaurants if your expectations are so lofty.

Found ourselves in Brownsburg around lunch & wanted to try something locally owned. So Italian fit the bill with homemade Italian dishes at reasonable prices. The lunch combos offered the most variety for the dollar. Inside is cute, counter-style cafe. Order at counter, seat yourself, served by staff, clear your own table. My opinion of the food will differ from most Midwest Americans. I was born in Naples, Italy and this stuff is NOT local American diner's version of Italian. This is homemade, cafe-style Italian food. Loved the pasta menu - you can choose between 4 different pastas and 9 different sauce options. The Amaticciana sauce is very authentic - I wish there'd been more. Would have been fun to have farfalle as a pasta option, but enjoyed my capellini (angel hair). Pizza slice had a good, crisp crust & certainly was NOT packaged. Nice sauce & cheese. Would prefer the sausage be pulled, uneven bits instead of perfectly rolled little balls. This gives the poor impression of packaged pizza sausage. Tomato basil soup is thick and very fresh. Husband liked the lasagna but insists he prefers mine. Maybe it's my fresh ricotta cheese, maybe it's something else... Brownsburg is lucky to have So Italian & it will be my first place to return if back in town.

I had a Groupon that was a fantastic deal! This however isn't the first time I've been here. The pizza is amazing (stuffed bbq pizza most recently) and thru serve beer. The staff is so super friendly and it's so nice to eat outside on a supporting night. All around good atmosphere!

I made a discovery that makes So Italian's pizza acceptable ... almost. After not finishing the pizza (in part because I over-ordered, in part because it wasn't worth stuffing my face with crap), I took a couple slices home in a box. My figuring was that I could give it to that homeless guy I always see at the interstate exit ramp. though I eventually decided against this because even hungry people have standards and deserve to be treated with dignity. So, after a long drive home, sitting in the near-freezing trunk, the pizza made its way to my refrigerator. Fast forward two days: It's cold, I'm hungry, and I've been snowed in by a blizzard. In an act of desperation, I open my fridge and see those two slices of pizza -- looking as bad as ever. I sprinkled them with a little water, put them on a sheet of tin foil, and broiled them in a toaster oven for about five minutes. The difference was extraordinary! Somehow, my home remedy corrected for the pizza's shortcomings -- a few days in the fridge dried out the once-soggy crust, and a few sprinkles of water and reheating melted the cheese to an acceptable level. Does it make So Italian worth returning to? No. But if you make the same mistake I did and go there anyway, know that all isn't lost. Freezing and reheating makes their pizza every bit as good as the frozen pizza you get at the grocery store.

Decided to try the local place that people in Bburg seem to like. I am very positive going in....I want to help a local business succeed, and I want to like it. Right off, I am putt off, by the fact that I walk up to a counter to order. I don't do that. Not to say that I am a snob, I work hard all day, and if I want to spend money on dining out, I want the entire experience of full service. We ordered, which took a while, as it's Friday evening, and the line is pretty long. Ok. Redeeming feature, we can order Chianti. However, the price of the glass of wine is what you expect in a restaurant that provides service, and atmosphere. Three of us ordered caprese salad, 16" So Veggie Stuffed Pizza, Chicken marsala and a house salad. We went to find a table. I sat down in a booth, and my rear end landed sharply on a piece of the bench's framework. Nowhere on the bench could I avoid this uncomfortable feature. The three of us are just chatting, wating for our dinner, when 4 Brownsburg PD sat behind us, radios on full volume, disturbing our chat. Cannot blame the establishment on this faux pas. The caprese and house salads are delivered. Caprese without fresh basil. Unripe tomatoes. Well, there was a basil paste. What??? How embarrassing to serve that. The house salad had some variety on it, but the red onions were very strong. The chicken marsala was delivered with a warning that it was very hot. While my son ate his salad, the dish cooled for about 5 minutes. He burned his lip on this hot, tasteless dish. There was very little chicken, 3 mushroom slices, all in more of an alfredo sauce than a marsala sauce. Pizza is delivered. Double crusted, with bland sauce, and miniscule pieces of tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms. I went up to the counter to ask for red pepper flakes, because I needed to taste something! The guy gave me a soup cup with about 1/4 cup of flakes, asking me if it was enough. He obviously new the food lacked flavor. The final disappointment, was that you are expected to bring your dishes and trash up to this table, and put them in the labeled dish buckets. Prices were reasonable, but no for flavorless food at an almost self serve type of place. I am very disappointed, as I have tried all the mom and pop places in Brownsburg, and have been disappointed in every one of them. I will continue to cook for myself. Maybe someone should go in to the business of cooking GOOD FOOD around here!

I'm really surprised at the negative views on here (and the snobbish people). This is your classic pizzeria. You walk up to the counter, order your food, they bring it to you, and yes you are encouraged to clear your own plates. They have the most amazing homemade tomato sauce for their pasta and breadsticks. Awesome breadsticks! Their dough is fresh and so are the ingredients. I hate canned mushrooms (which many family pizza places use in Brownsburg), yuck. So Italian uses fresh mushrooms and has fresh spinach too. The staff has always been very friendly and we dine-in and carry out. I wish they had a bigger place b/c it's always packed - which says something for this place. I also wish they had delivery and were open on Sundays. But by far, the best pizza/pasta place in Brownsburg.

I really, really, really wanted to like So Italian. Their prices are very low and it's a local family-owned restaurant in a place that doesn't have many. Unfortunately I just can't. Their food was sub-par at best. The pizza I got was just alright, and the lasagna my husband got was an overweight, heavy, greasy mess without much flavor. The sandwiches the other people in our party got were boring. No one finished their food or took any leftovers home. The cheese-covered breadsticks were good but that's the only thing I had a positive reaction to. Besides the food, the service was bad as well. We were in the middle of ordering (up at the counter, there's no waiter service despite the place being tiny) and they got a delivery phone call, instead of finishing taking our order and going back to the phone call, they took the delivery order, which took 10 minutes. Yes we stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting to finish our order. I definitely wouldn't go back.

Love their pizza. Thin crust but not crispy. Authentic looking toppings. Great flavor. A little high priced for pizza but best choice In town. Recently tried pasta and not very pleased. It was something that would come from a steamer or microwave. The flavor was good overall but, over priced for Italian. Decent food for Brownsburg, IN but price is too high for quality.

I've lived in BBurg for 17 years and just discovered So Italian about 8 months ago. We have been back more times than I can even count since then. Went for their new breakfast this morning and was not disappointed! The stuffed breakfast breadsticks were GREAT (knew they would be, as their Ryan's breadsticks are one of our faves!) and the sausage gravy was quite good. Also tried the Mountaineer soup w/breakfast and it was so fresh tasting...but not hot enough...at all. The staff isn't the most intreractive or overly friendly, but they are pleasant enough. The food, however, is some of the best Italian in Indy and certainly the best on the West side! Pizza's are great, subs are divine and the spinach and mushroom salad is very appealing! Prices are VERY reasonable. The alfredo sauce is excellect. Try their specials! They are having gnocci currently and it is the best I've ever had in Indiana. You can tell it is homemade with lots of love. If you haven't tried So Itlalian, give it a chance...just once! You'll be back! The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because of the ambiance and just ok friendliness of the staff. The food is def. 5 Star!!!!

Pizzas and calzones are fantastic. Other dishes are good. Prices are reasonable. There are other good pizzas in town, but none better than So Italian. I agree that service is less than excellent.

Unfortunately, the last dining experience here was slop in a bowl. It came out too hot to eat and by the time it cooled down it tasted terrible. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism shows in their cheap presentation. On top of that, the restaurant smelled bad. We won't be back considering that Rock Star serves superior pizza and Sal's has delicious Italian dishes (plus pizza) both within a mile of this place.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Been here to eat a few times. Tonight we used a Groupon for pizzas. Pizzas are homestyle and delicious. Pasta dishes are average. The service has always been good.
