i visited the cousins from chicago and we went here for breakfast. i'm from chicago so i am kind of fussy. the service was fast and friendly and by looking at everybodys plates the food was plentiful and tasty. i had the florentine eggs benedict with hash browns and onions. all i can say is phenomenal! phenomenal. if i lived in bloomington i'd be a regular.

Reminiscent of the Greek diners in Chicago but with friendlier servers. Expansive menu of all the diner staples and then some. Breakfast all day. Sandwiches come with giant bowls of soup. French fries actually reheat well. Speaking of reheating, the portions are huge (5-egg omelets, y'all) and I almost always bring half my meal home. All that and two people can eat a full meal with beverage and the check is usually less than $20. Great bang for your buck, to be sure.

My friend found this place through the Urbanspoon website which we've never heard of and we're both excited to give it a try. It turned out that it wasn't bad at all! I ordered the usual American breakfast that contained 2 sunnyside up eggs, hashbrowns, sausage links and they come with a piece or two of french toast. My friend ordered an Omelette and we were so stuffed beyond words! I love that I get french toast as a side rather than usual white or wheat toast. The prices were pretty reasonable since the portion were huge for the both of us. We figured that we should have ordered a meal and shared. The waitress that we had was very friendly, helpful and nice. Best breakfast service I had so far! The place itself looked like an old diner, a clean and cozy one I'd say. We were both glad that we tried this place and most of the people there are locals. Not many college students know about this place I assume. To close, I'd suggest this place to anyone in Bloomington who'd tried all the breakfast in town :)

Affordable family restaurant setting with good breakfast all day.

I think this is the best place for breakfast in Bloomington. We have not tried the other menu items, but it does look interesting. First, the breakfasts are huge!!!! Come hungry and prepare not to eat again until dinner. Fast and friendly service, even when they are busy. I think this is the big reason we keep going to Cozy Table. You can get in, eat and get on with your day. Can't say the same for other places in town (Village Deli). We have not been back to the Deli in a very long time and I am fine with that.

Good breakfast. Good prices.

This little diner lives up to its name with friendly service, a large breakfast menu and decent prices that make you feel taken care of.

Pretty good breakfast. I don't venture off in Bloomington much. But my coworker said its her fav breakfast spot. Lover of breakfast as I am, I had to take her up on it. I had the cherry crepes with bacon and eggs. My eggs were light, bacon yummy and crêpes were filled with cherry. It was a decent breakfast at a good price. You can't beat that.

This is a very tired restaurant. Had lunch which was a very dry patty melt, with 3 pickles on the side sitting on old lettuce. Fries had a seasoned coating . No ketchup on the table or mayo. Waitress never came back to check on me or the food or refill my water. Maybe breakfast would have been a better option.

I just had what I will call one of THEE most disgusting restaurant experiences in my entire nearly 50-yr life. I was enjoying the country fried steak breakfast with sausage gravy and eggs. I had taken about 3 bites of my fried steak when I noticed something orange underneath. I pushed the steak over a little more and a hunk of old cheese glued onto the plate became exposed. I moved the steak back further and pieces of onions and more cheese and some kind of stain from something else was underneath my steak. It was CLEAR that my food had been put onto a used, dirty plate that had not been cleaned. After calling over the waitress who agreed that it looked like I had been given a used plate, she asked if I wanted my meal re-made. I hesitated, but agreed. I got NO apology from the management and NO discount. The owner stood in the corner looking smugly during our entire meal. I will never ever EVER step foot in this establishment again. The waitress was pleasant enough and she tried, but the way the manager handled the situation was piss poor. DISGUSTING. I STRONGLY recommend people avoid this place. Plenty of other places where the owners actually care about the quality they are putting out.

Classic diner/greasy spoon. Nothing fancy here but exactly what you want from a diner in my mind... Which is hard to find in Southern Indiana. Our bellies are always happy here with our late breakfasts.

Stopped in on a Sunday and they were slammed. Small place. The food was fine and the pricing was very fair. Mainly locals in there for sure. The waitresses were hustling and working there tails off, hats off to them. The place needs to be a bit cleaner, but I get it they were really busy. Food was ok. I had some eggs, pancakes and bacon. Eggs were ice cold and the pancakes were warm. Again, nice local place, but not someplace I would go out of my way again to go too. There biggest challenge is people are piling in and clogging the main doorway and people are trying to pay for there meals and get out. Traffic flow needs to be improved.

I've had better breakfast/brunch. But not in Bloomington. And I have tried almost everywhere. And most breakfasts in Bloomington are not as cheap as the Cozy Table. If you care about the creativity of your food, or think price represents quality, then you're looking in the wrong place. But if you want something that just tastes like a good American Brunch, Cozy Table is it. I was surprised by how few people associated with the university came here until I realized that the clientele (many of the stereotypes of the west side of Bloomington) turns a lot of people off. People think that can't be good food. Fine by me, more space for those of us who like the food and the fact that the staff are friendly and don't care as much about ambience or class.

I came here after getting my hair cut. I was seated immediately and the waitress was at my table shortly. I ordered a water and a Spartan omelet. It's a vegetarian omelet but I added gravy on top. I love gravy with my omelets. There was an omelet called farmers omelet, it is a sausage, cheese and gravy omelet but I wanted some veggies. The omelet was pretty good! It had feta cheese on it. I've never had feta before so I decided to try it and I decided that I don't like feta cheese. I'm not sure if feta cheese melts like other cheeses but it wasn't melted in my omelet. The taste of the feta is strong but it tasted good in smaller amounts. Pretty good food.

Uhhhhh, people make this place sound like some incredible hidden gem breakfast spot and it's just not ... but I think part of it is the actual clientele who go here. It's a glorified Midwestern diner that appeals to the native Bloomington population of senior citizens and local families. It is not a creative, high quality joint (like Feast or Uptown). Space is whatever. Food quality is very basic. Service was fine. Prices are affordable. I see the appeal for the less experienced.

Horrible conditions - dirty bugs in the dessert case, bathroom should be condemned and the kitchen was filthy. The statute at the cashier counter was dusty and dirty. I would never eat here again!
(1)Kim O.
We ordered biscuits and gray and eggs Benedict. The meat in the gravy was unidentifiable and the hollandaise sauce was disgusting . I'm assuming it came from a packet. Great oh though.

Poor food, overpriced and crappy service. There are so many great restaurants in town. Do NOT wsste your time or money on this one.

i did not quite like it. called the cozy corner, but it did not feel cozy at all inside.. decor is desperately wanting. i like greasy spoons, i love diners with character, cuz it shows in their food. crisp bacon, hash, oj (canned, or better, fresh), eggs cooked properly in a variety of ways, some variety of toast, smuckers jelly, a dish of the day, and i'm a happy camper. my friend had their sausage gravy over biscuits with a side of hash, and the gravy was not good at all. it lacked seasoning, and was way too gummy. our hash browns were not crispy enough on the side. when we commented on this to the cashier, she told us that we could have asked for crispier hash. fair enough, but one would have expected more of a golden brown, crisp skin to it without having to ask. i had the 5 egg omelet. good, filling, greasy cheesey in the inside.. it satisfied, but did not delight. pancakes were ok, syrup was awful, just awful. what can i say? meh food. dessert display case definitely will not inspire you to taste their cakes or pies, which are clearly store bought (still in their plastic cases), with their frosting smashed onto the sides. It looked very sad. our waitress was a 16 year old girl who was really pleasant and attentive, but she called my 70+ year old friend "hon". Whaaa? Hon, I don't think you should be calling ladies old enough to be your grandma "hon", or "sugar" like you're some tired old waitress whose been waiting tables for the past 30 years. It just rubbed me the wrong way i guess. overall verdict? fairly good food for good prices. You know you probably won't be returning anytime soon when the thought of denny's excites you more than this place. tragic!

NASTY - don't waste your time and go to Cloverleaf down the road!
(1)John L.
I'm am oatmeal and blueberry guy but do go for biscuits and gravy from time to time and know good gravy. This was not very good gravy. Lots of gravy, yes, but lots of good gravy, no. Undertoasted English Muffins, overly sweet, cheap syrup did not help. Eggs were perfect and coffee was always in my mug. Service was superb, even for a Saturday. Pretty creative offerings but taste was lacking. Prices were excellent. Lots of food, lots of selections so if you are hungry for a lot for not a lot, I think you'd give this place **** or maybe even *****. It is just not my cup of joe.
(3)Lindsey R.
I don't know why my husband keeps insisting on coming here. It is absolutely the worst resteraunt on town. I highly suggest driving down the road to Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel, or Cloverleaf. Same basic food, but cheaper AND edible. Management should also stop being rude to customers whenever they make a complaint about getting the totally wrong order. FYI some of your waitresses need replaced.

Really, really good. I live near here and always thought it looked like a typical dive. Then a billboard popped up on 37 and I thought...really? They have a billboard? So I decided to check it out...except that it turns out you can't get a table if you go after about 11:30 AM. So, fast forward to yesterday and I was FINALLY able to get a table. The food was delicious. I ordered the veggie skillet, light on the cheese with over easy eggs. It came out perfect (which surprised me, to be honest). The potatoes were not at all greasy and instead of butter on the toast, I think there was olive oil. Dave ordered strawberry french toast, which was also delicious. The bacon was phenomenal. I will most definitely be going back...hopefully to try lunch!

I can't imagine why anyone would give them more than one star! All I wanted was a simple greasy spoon breakfast and this place looked like the greasiest spoon in town. The bacon was strange and dry and when I asked for it less cooked it didn't even resemble bacon...how the fuck do you ruin BACON?!. I know eggs over medium is a little tricky, but what I got was an undercooked over easy. Normally if you send back an undercooked egg what you get is an over cooked egg, but after three tries I was still getting over easy!! And the pancake was dry like it sat under lights for half an hour. After explaining that my entire breakfast was inedible they never offered to take it off the bill like a normal restaurant would. There are great breakfast places in Bloomington. No one should ever have a reason to have to eat this slop.

Went to The Cozy Table with a group of ladies. Waitress was nice; food was good. A couple of the ladies got the tenderloin, one broke off a piece of the tenderloin for me to try; it was a frozen, very salty and over spiced piece of flattened meat to me, but they both said they liked it. I prefer fresh cut meat, hand breaded and fried right then. I had the Greek Salad. It was very good! Ask for cucumber to cut up yourself and add to salad and then it is perfect! Wish they had hummus on the menu. Took my husband there at a later date. The Waiter was very nice. My husband got an omelet, pancakes and hash browns. He couldn't eat it all and had to bring it home. He said there a couple of other items he would like to try. It is not a fancy, copycat chain. It is a locally ran, clean and good restaurant.

We were in town for the Tecumseh Trail Marathon. The race didn't start until 10 a.m. so we had time to find ourselves a local diner for breakfast. What a great place to load up prior to a 26.2 mile trail run. Cozy Table serves a 5 egg omelette as their standard size! That's 5 eggs, folks! Their omelettes also come with 2 plate-sized pancakes plus hashbrowns, all for $6.99. The service was speedy and seriously, all the locals were eating here. They need to get signage on the East side of their building. We were driving westbound and missed it. So, heads up! It's easy to miss.

Owner/manager is terrible. When I say terrible, I don't simply mean at her job (albeit true), I would extend this to a human level. Not only did she cause a domestic scene with a twelve year old waitress in the middle of the dining room ("apparently you can't count!!! LISTEN. TO. ME!!!"), when I attempted to explain to our new server that it's not exactly savory for paying customers to be brought into restaurant operations issues, rather than coming to apologize to our table, she instead continued to huff around the restaurant in a total fluster as if she was responsible for whether or not we were bombing Syria. When she overheard say to my partner that I was tempted to leave, she accosted our table NOT with an apology l, but rather a flippant explanation for why she HAD to speak to her that way because she had already told her which tables were hers. Lady, I'm a therapist by day. I don't need to work weekend shifts in your restaurant explaining the delicacies of interpersonal business relationships. You have a kitchen. It's for employees. Talk to them there. The dining room is...wait for it... FOR DINING. I wouldn't go back if I was starving. Anyone who will belittle a staff member and then argue with a patron over their deplorable management skills does not deserve my dollar. I'll find another greasy spoon.
(1)Rocky F.
Don't bother. It's a real greasy spoon. My silverware was dirty. The ceiling tiles are water stained and falling down. The place is patronized by locals, so you think it might be good. It's not. The biscuits and gravy are nothing special. The gravy is thin with very little sausage. The coffee is weak. Two stars because the waitress was fantastic. She was like a waitress from a 1950's film noir. Smart mouthed and fast talking. She is the only reason to go to the Cozy Table.

This place is great and I often grab brunch here - but the best place for breakfast it is not. I mean, it is a tasty place but with their 8 page menu, you know that lot of what they are serving up comes frozen. I mean, I like frozen hashbrowns just fine and I am fine with the cheap not real maple syrup...but I think we should just all be aware of what this is. It is a totally rad, affordable place with friendly waitstaff...and that is great in its own right. Gran is not back in the kitchen making pies. Pros: Waitstaff: friendly - Portions: great amount of food for a great price - Speed: super speedy service Cons: Meat: my veg husband has found meat in his vegetarian omelet before, also, many of their rad breakfast specials all involve pig - Coffee: cheap - Noise: It can get a bit loud in there Why You Should Go: If you want a tasty traditional American breakfast at a super casual place with friendly and speedy service then you really need to check them out. I agree with the earlier reviewer who compared it to the Chicago Greek diners - very similar!
(4)Gregory C.
We are from Chicago and one of the things that I find that I miss are the greek diners. There they are all over the place with their expansive menus and good food. Fortunately we found one in Bloomington! We botth got breakfast. I ordered an omelet and my husband ordered a skillet. The server was right on top of things and the food came in no time. The food was very good and the portions were substantial. There is nothing fancy going on here but good food at a very reasonable price. We will be going back!

I love diners. And there aren't many in Bloomington. Now it doesn't matter because I only need the Cozy Table!! I'm giving it a 5-star review, as in the diner category it's as good as it gets! This isn't Morton's 5-star or St. Elmo's 5-star, this is cream-of-the-crop-local-diner 5-star. And that's a good thing. This restaurant is located in the building formerly occupied by the Cloverleaf, and while it has been open for some time I had no idea it was there. Perhaps they should advertise a bit more, I'd hate for it to go away because nobody knows where it is! Diners are great because they offer a huge variety, large portions, speedy service and great prices. CT is no exception. Breakfast all hours, including just about anything you can name, sandwiches, steaks, homecooked favorites like meatloaf, and more. For a family on the go, having a place like this where everyone can find something they want, a somewhat healthy menu (not that I'd order anything healthy) and an easy place to get seated, order, and get out, the Cozy Table is a dream. My family of four had a feast, with good service, and a total bill of $29 INCLUDING TIP. Gotta love it. I had steak and eggs, hash browns, and pancakes instead of toast (no upcharge) - again, not healthy, but delish! Wife had traditioanl bacon and eggs, toast, hash browns. My daughter loved her hamburger (ate it all, which is a miracle in my eyes) and son had pancakes and bacon. My picky eaters were both very happy. Next time we'll do better on the healthy side. Frankly, I was too giddy reading the menu to even pay attention to what anyone else ordered. I already have my next three menu items selected, so I guess I'll be back soon!

True comfort food. I had the Chicken Fried Steak Skillet. My taste buds are excited but my arteries will never be the same.
(4)Char D.
This is like a gem that only locals know about but hey, we got Yelp for that now! My husband and I love this place for their omelets and our kids love their Mickey Mouse pancakes! This place truly competes with I-Hop and is priced better!
(4)Amanda C.
This is the best breakfast place in town. Bar- none. The menu is great, the prices are pocket/economy friendly and the service has always been great. I can only speak on the breakfast items, because I haven't made it to anything else. They have several vegetarian friendly(my fav is the vegetable skillet) items and several meat-hungry items. Every time I go it is packed, so go during non-traditional breakfast times if you don't want to wait. :) Enjoy!
(5)Gina V.
I love this place. It's not the best food in Bloomington, but it's darned good, and the coffee is excellent, as is the service. It's not a place for food snobs; you have to take it for what it is--a comfort food diner frequented mainly by locals. I've tried a little bit of everything there, and I've never been dissatisfied. The spanakopita is excellent, as is the fish sandwich. This is my go-to place when I'm in town. It's recently been redone and looks a lot better.
