Oh my gosh, they have latkes! Is this the only place in town that has latkes? They were amazing and delicious and I will go back just because of that. I also had a double-decker grilled cheese that was amazing. They also have a ricotta pizza. Also amazing! Friendly guys at the counter and they have outdoor seating.

Greg and I were disappointed to say the least. Terrible service. Slow as hell. Sorry but the Reuben was One degree above mediocre and the Latkie was made of oxidized (black) potatos...barf. When brought to night cooks attention was told that's the seasoning then backtracked and said it was oxidized but was the prep cooks fault. "I have two culinary degrees, but it's not my fault" I'll go to BTon sandwich co next time.

Two for one pizza slices on Tuesdays! It's such a good deal that it makes it difficult to go to Butch's on any other day of the week. I will caution that the staff doesn't seem to understand what a vegetarian is as I've had them tell me some soups are vegetarian that are definitely not. My favorite pizzas are just plain old cheese, white pizza, and a pesto variety they regularly have. I've also tried the one with pasta on top (zita), and I thought it was just okay compared to the others.

Butch's was my go-to spot when I lived in Bloomington. Since I've moved west, I can't help but to think about how much I could use a Butch's calzone or sandwich. Top quality meat and always more than you could eat...well, more that you should eat!

Best slice you can get in Bloomington by far. This place is fantastic. If you want a premature mouthgasm get you a godfather sandwich or slice.

I meant to write this review last summer, but procrastination is a helluva thing. Anyway I stopped in about 1:00 PM on a weekday and noticed that they had a 2-slice pizza special. I took a look at the pizzas that were in the display case and figured that I'd go with a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice just to keep things simple. I got my slices and drink to go so I could get back to my desk and have lunch while I worked. I ate one slice and it was pretty decent, but there was a flavor that I couldn't pin down. I then forged ahead and began eating the second slice. When I got near the edge of the slice, I was finally able to pinpoint the flavor that I was tasting: burnt cigarette! I used to smoke years ago, so I'm not about to begin giving anybody a hard time about smoking. However, it's just common sense that you shouldn't prepare foods with bare hands without thoroughly washing the nicotine smell from your hands. And if you do wash your hands thoroughly, also make sure to not have your dough proofing anywhere near where cigarette smoke may get to it. I'll give this place another try someday, but that taste combo has really stuck in my mind. Maybe the smokers at this place should switch to e-cigs that are infused with Parmesan and prosciutto essence. That could be a win-win for everybody.

Lunch specials. $5 calzones. Best cookies you've ever eaten. That is all. Go there now.

My bf & I went here for the first time after moving here as a recommendation, but it was awful. We got a sandwich to split since we were told they were big & there was nothing in it but bread & a little sauce. What little filling was in it was all dried up & cooked to death. It was the worst sandwich we've ever had & we actually had to go else where to eat cuz we were still hungry

I have been using Btownmenus to deliver some of what Bloomington has to offer while I am home resting, and this was another excellent find! The menu selection is SUPEr. Knowing there is a great breakfast source that I can order from is a huge get for my husband. I had the Gyro (not a good example of what they sell, but an awesome $5 lunch special!) I don't like wheat tortillas at all--but that was my bad, i should have read the description better. The sweet potato fries were AWESOME. Huge amount in a half order though, so don't over order! And I have never had their Rummels but man will I be ordering them again! Can't wait to try them with company--I think they were a real treat. :D

Pitiful service for a stiff price. ----------------------------------------------- NEVER AGAIN! After waiting more than an hour for our delivery order to arrive, we called back to check up on it...they said the delivery driver "couldn't find" the house and had silently given up. We were just a few blocks from the square, in a normal house, at a well-known Bloomington intersection. We asked that the delivery driver try again (especially considering I'd payed in advance online), and one of us stood outside to flag him down. By the time he arrived, it was an hour and a half after we ordered. My friend's hot sandwich was cold by that point, and apparently he didn't get the one he ordered. He was also perplexed that the sandwich itself contained french fries. I got a cold sub, the Crazy Italian, and it was ok. Nothing I couldn't have made at home. I was SO hungry by the time it showed up, that I practically inhaled it. AND THEY FORGOT OUR MOZZARELLA STICKS!! We called back again, and after putting us on hold awhile, they said the sticks would be over "right away." They never came and when we tried to call again, they had closed for the night.

I thought the food was pretty good. Got one of the grillers, which I didn't realize was a hamburger-fries-mozzerella stix-all on one big bun. Still pretty good. Next time I'll try the chicken version. I am ready to go back for some pizza too, it looked really good. Staff was pretty pleasant. Went back and tried the chicken parm sandwich. Pretty good!

I've never been here, but my niece and I ordered the pesto gnocchi from their Taste of Bloomington booth and it was the best thing we tried all night (and we got some pretty damn good food Saturday night).

Well, the food is good; I'll give it that. For vegetarians like myself, you can substitute a veggie burger on any of their sandwiches. Not in the mood for a burger? The calzones are awesome, and there's lots of pizza to choose from including a baked ziti pizza. That is, indeed, just as delicious as it sounds. The downfall of Butch's is the price and the service. You get a lot of food for the price you pay, yes, but it never seems exactly worth it. DO NOT take advantage of the delivery service -- it'll take over an hour, sometimes two (and no one wants a cold, soggy calzone) and they will never let you know if there is a problem with your order. And when you call in asking where your food is, they'll treat you like an idiot. So, my best advice is to actually go to the restaurant, or order for take-out. But even then, you'll never find parking and the employees will probably be assholes.

DON'T ORDER DELIVERY! Had an in-restaurant experience that was great a few months ago. Delivery we just had tonight was cold, soggy, took over and hour and tasted pretty awful.

Not bad, but my excitement when they opened as a "real east coast style deli" was tempered when I went for a pastrami on rye and found they used Boar's Head meat, which you can buy at Kroger. It's ok, but no Shapiro's in Indy, much less a Midwest version of Carnegie or Stage Door Deli on NYC.

I was not impressed by the philly steak sub. They tried to make it right, but it was still disappointing. Wife had burger and sweet potato fries and said they were really good.

I had the best all meat calzone I've ever had at Butch's. It was FULL of meat. The chili was also great & very thick. Seating and atmosphere left a little to be desired.

Butch's is a new installment on 7th street, near Scotty's Pub. I've eaten there several times and the foot is pretty decent. Their menu is overwhelming, so you might want to check it out online before you go. I've had the pizza, big grillas, brie omelet, a sandwich and a salad. Everything was good except the salad, which didn't seem very fresh. I designed my own sandwich (a vegetarian one), and the ingredients used were great quality...which is great news for people who avoid meat. The prices are very reasonable also. Cons: However, the restaurant is tiny and there is only 7 or so tables, so don't count on eating in. The worst part is finding parking...its nearly impossible due to the location.

By far the best pizza in Bloomington, especially for those of us who miss real New Yawk Pizza. They've really nailed the crust and the sauce (its made in a flat oven too, no conveyor belt.) Huge menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Deli sandwiches and sub are superb, using Boar's Head meats. Great addition to Bloomington, hope it lasts.
