Ate there today for the first time with my husband and almost 2 year old daughter. Newly transplanted to this area, Las Limas is regaled by the locals as a "you have to go there" place. Having just lived in Los Angeles for 3 years, I'm not sure Mexican food in Indiana can quite compare, but . . . We got there shortly after it opened around 11:15 on a Thursday and were seated immediately. It did draw in a decent crowd quite quickly. Servers were all friendly and prompt in the service department. They were quick to bring out the crayons and offer us a high chair (all greatly appreciated!). Moreover, they included our daugther when attending to our needs (which was VERY appreciated). I have to say their chips are some of my personal favorites. Not at all stale. Nice and crunchy--they were even warm when they first came out. Seemed homemade, but I have no idea. Absolutely loved them. The salsa was your typical red salsa with some kick to it. I ordered the "Special Lunch #3" and that included a bean burrito, cheese enchilada, and Meican rice. I found it it to be good enough. I was certainly full by the time I was done. However, it was average in taste, I'd say. Our daughter had just eaten shortly before we got there, so we let her have the chips and salsa (which she loved, too) and then we ordered a fruit cup for her, as well. It was all of $1.00, so I should have known. It could have come straight from the grocery store for all we know. It was still in the plastic cup--foil lid and all when it was brought to our table. I had asked the waiter what was in it and he said he thought "pineapple, peaches, and other things." Well it was the syrupy peaches and apricots that you can get off of your local grocer's shelves. Definite thumbs down on that one. I'd rather you sold me a bananna for a buck. The atmoshere was peppy, as you you'd expect for Mexican cuisine. Brightly colored, busy, (good if you have little kids. My daugther loved the happy suns that were on all the chairs). Bathrooms were clean; always a plus. Oh, and if you forgot to buy contraception at the drug store, just make sure you have 75 cents when you use the restroom. Yep. Seriously. Even have more than one type to choose from. If we were in dire need of Mexican or needed a location for a large group, then I suppose we'd go back. I do really like their chips, after all. Otherwise, all in all in it was fine, but they do leave some room for improvement when it comes to the food itself.

Seems like a decent enough place, only problem I had was the spicy shrimp was far beyond spicy. The Diabla sauce was green and filled with pepper seeds, looked like they simply threw some jalapeños in a blender and made a sauce. It was so hot (and I like hot food) I couldn't eat it, my lips were on fire and had a burn in my stomach the rest of the day. The incredible heat overwhelmed everything and it had no flavor at all just left me burning and miserable for the rest of the day. Even though the shrimp was way to hot, the rice and beans were good, and the chips and salsa were good too. I am thinking that they may have been out of diabla sauce so the cook improvised, but dang you should see more than jalapeño seeds covering your shrimp.

Terrible, Acapulco if you want Mexican in this town. The food is well, well below average and the flavor is minimal. The atmosphere is yuck!

This restaurant has always been fair, but it is has gone done hill. We have been going here for years. After they remodeled the service and food have gone down hill. Each time gets worse. This time our waiter could dropped our drinks no straws (he thought it was funny), dropped our plates never came back to ask if everything was good. My wife and I had enchiladas. Mine was dry and was short on sauce. I told a manager and he could have cared less. I asked for more sauce and was charged $2 for it. My wife had shrimp and it was fishy. Our waiter finally came back when we were done and asked if we wanted more drinks, it was to late. We will not be back!

Had a very good lunch here today. The Huevos were excellent. Very clean . Excellent service but was not crowded being after the lunch hour. Will definitely return. The regular margaritas were small. Typical pricing. Fresh fresh fresh

The food was good, the service poor. Our rice and beans arrived on a cold plate 20 minutes before the course. We had to reoeatedly ask for an extra plate and my empty swatter glass was never refilled.

One of the worst restaurants I've been to the service was awful. It took 10 minutes just to get our drinks and the food arrived cold. I don't recommend.

Good Mexican. It used to be better, but it is still good. It's my local choice for my Mexican fix. Fast service, good food and reasonably priced. Much better than Los Tequilas over the border in Coldwater Michigan. Once a month I drive 25 miles to eat here instead of Los Tequilas.

They don't allow you to order from the lunch menu on the weekend. I just don't understand places that do that. I suppose if it were crowded to the gills, then they could get away with it, but this place was anything but crowded. One flavor of salsa--incredibly hot , bordering on the inedible. I asked if they had anything a little more tame, and they said no, they only had one kind and it varies from day to day. I guess they have never heard of a recipe. Watch the chips and salsa refills. If you are one person, you get 2 baskets of chips , and if you are a table of four--you get two baskets of chips. Anything over that, there is a two dollar charge for each basket. So, my recommendation? Save your money and go to the Taco Bell about a half mile south. They have more kinds of salsa. You can order off the whole menu any day of the week, and you won't have to worry about the salsa burning a whole through your gut. Plus, it will be a whole lot less than $36 dollars for a family of three.

The best mexican food i've ever had. I live in Jackson, MI and drive there just for them. You must try the casa de las limas I do not know if I spelled it right. You can choose from alot of different kind of meats to have in it. My first visit to here I had the fajita's while they were good every other time I have had this. It truly is the best ive ever had.

Service was good. Ordered the Arroz Con Pollo for lunch. Food was good but thought portion size was a bit too small.

Service was bad, brought (great ) salsa in a jar, no bowls :/ . Brought my husband his drink, but didn't have clean glasses for the rest of us, me & 2 children. :/ . Brought food for one of my children and the table next to us but took 10 min to get ours. Food was ok at best. Daughter didn't eat her soft taco so hubby was going to finish it. It was awful and he couldn't. They won't be getting any more money from me.

We love Las Limas. Service is very fast. The style of Mexican food is a little more fresh and authentic. Salsa is good - ask for the super hot salsa! Margaritas are good. I like the casa de las limas which is a mix of fajita ingredients in a stone bowl. The flame it in front of you.. Very impressive! Fun place for the whole family.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
