This place is awesome! Food is always fresh and hot! My family probably goes at least once a week. Never had a bad experience. The staff is so friendly and fast! Always in and out in plenty of time for lunch break! A must try! Blows all other mexican places out of the water!!!

I rarely give five stars to a Mexican restaurant. However, I couldn't come up with a reason to give Burro Loco four stars. You start with fresh chips and salsa. I like hot fresh chips and that is what was brought out to me. The star was the Salsa. It had flavor and was spiced correctly. It was a bit on the chunky side but that is how I personally like it. The entrée was a shrimp dish cooked in a green tomatillo sauce. The sides were the typical beans and rice. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The green tomatillo sauce was outstanding. The sauce has a kick and was spicy, but I really enjoy hot and spicy and this met my expectations. I though the beans and rice were prepared correctly and they tasted better than the standard beans and rice at most Mexican places. I was greeted quickly and was seated immediately. Chips and salsa was there within a minute. Overall the service was excellent. The place is clean and you can tell the owners and workers take pride in providing you an outstanding experience. I stop here before going to Mounds state park. If I am ever back in Anderson, I will definitely be back. If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. Let's all keep supporting the true food scene in Indiana.

Excellent food and service at super-reasonable prices. Arroz con pollo is worth twice it's price. Salsa demands Altoids at the register!

As far as local Mexican food goes, this has become the place to go. There is nothing particularly special about the menu; it's exactly what you'd expect. However, the food is consistently excellent. I've visited dozens of times and haven't had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and quick as well. A gre

Ordered take-out on a Thursday night. The place was nearly full for a weeknight and was loud with high energy. I ordered a cheese quesadilla and sides of pico de gallo and guac. I am a guac aficionado (aka, I only trust myself, Chipotle, and Qdoba to make quality guac), so I am always worried when ordering guac at restaurants. The guac taste pretty good, but I, personally, didn't care for the smooth consistency - prefer it chunkier. I wouldn't order the pico di gallo again, but I mixed it in with the salsa that was complimentary, and it made the salsa even better. The reason I am writing my review: The manager (I'm assuming) brought me my take-out order and told me that he gave me 2 quesadillas, because one of them was a little too crispy and he wanted to make sure it was perfect. Don't think it had anything to do with the cute running outfit I was wearing - kidding. That's good customer service. And the quesadillas were great!

If you know Anderson, IN you know that this is one of 2000 Mexican restaurants in town. Fortunately for me (and you) I've been to all 2000. Only thing that distinguishes these places are their salsas. So, no more judging Mexican restaurants based on food; base it on the salsa. As a result... this place is great. It's quiet, never too busy and chances are you'll see some familiar faces.

We are locals, and love Mexican food. There are notably a lot of choices in that specific genre in our local area, and I really feel that Burro Loco stands out above the rest. They have done a nice job with the decor, it feels really unique compared to it's local competitors, I dig the artwork and the booths / seating. I have to say, you won't miss the building if you're coming from ANY direction. It is a very bright orange, with bright blue as an accent. It's like a beacon of salsa deliciousness. As for the food. YUM. It's delicious, fresh and they're clearly making things in house. The salsa is chunky, just like a good homemade salsa should be, and it's addictive. My Father In Law who is quite picky and definitely not a vegetable fan, LOVES the pico de gallo. He takes home two or three orders after each time so he can have it on anything and everything for the next few days. I think that speaks volumes about that particular dish. My hubby loves the Mexican Cheesesteak, and it's exactly what you think it is. Tortillas, Steak, Cheese, beans, rice.... etc, etc, etc. He also really likes the fajitas, and burritos. I've had the Mexican Pizza, which is delicious, but a LOT of food! The nachos are really good, and you can get them a variety of ways. I got the Nachos Grande last time, which had chicken (or beef, your choice), cheese, onions and green peppers sautéd with fajita seasoning, topped with pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream. It's really good, and having the sautéd veggies on it adds some really nice flavor, however it is again, HUGE. I took home leftovers and could easily have had three meals out of it. My absolute favorite dish here is the Fish Tacos. Definitely the best fish tacos in the area, as we are landlocked and fish is not a fresh ingredient for us here. They are moist, delicious, fresh (as they can be) and light. They come with avocados, which probably make me like them even more. They've got beer on tap, as well as a variety of alcoholic beverages to enjoy. The prices are super reasonable and the staff is always extremely friendly and helpful in whatever your needs may be. We will keep going back and it's our new favorite Mexican restaurant in town.

"If the kitchen is full of white guys, we're walking," I told him as we went in. We've seen several restaurants come and go in this building since we moved to Anderson a few years ago, but this one stands out for being anything other than Generic Midwest "Home Cookin'." I realized that the new exterior blue-and-orange colour scheme was significant when I crested the 8th Street Bridge one morning to see the new sign shining through the pre-dawn dimness. The kitchen was not in fact full of white guys. The building has been sold outright, and the new owners have obviously put a lot of work and money into the renovation. The space has been opened up to provide a lot more seating room. We were provided the requisite nachos and salsa upon being seated. The chips were warm, and the salsa was light, fresh, and full of cilantro. We split a supreme plate; a taco, a chile relleno, a burrito, a tamale, and one more thing I can't remember the name of. The burrito, tamale, and chile all shared a plate, and were too heavily doused in a salty tomato-based sauce. All of the items were beef; I'd like to come back and try something with chicken or shrimp before drawing a final conclusion. Despite the plate being a lot of food for the two of us, we tried the fried ice cream as well. It was novel, but the ice cream's texture was more icy than creamy, suggesting a lower fat content due to poor quality. They serve alcohol, which will improve their chances of lasting more than six months in a town that has a very high turnover for independent restaurants.

We've been to Burro Loco twice now. Once with my family and again with a larger group. The staff seems to be really nice and attentive, but not overly knowledgable about the food. I'm vegetarian, so I asked about animal products in the rice and beans. I was told there was no lard in the beans, but a little bit of chicken broth in the rice--which is offered on the vegetarian menu. I got the spinach quesadillas with beans. The quesadillas were ok, but I wondered if they also had a little chicken for flavor. The beans weren't anything special. My husband had spinach enchiladas, which we both liked more than the quesadillas. (While still wondering about their meat content.) Our son filled up on chips, salsa, and queso dip, so he only ordered a cheese quesadilla. The chips are fresh and warm. The salsa is pretty good--fresh with chunks of tomato and onion and lots of cilantro. The queso dip is pretty generic, mildly spiced white cheese. His quesadilla was also pretty unremarkable for a tortilla and cheese. That first trip, we split "sopapillas" for dessert, although we expected fried bread and got four tortilla chips coated in cinnamon sugar. Disappointing. The next time we went with a group of friends, we only ordered guacamole salads. They have really good guacamole, and I wasn't afraid of finding any animal ingredients in guacamole, iceberg lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The others in our group seemed to really enjoy their food. The only complaints I heard were that they were stuffed from eating too much. I would recommend Burro Loco for omnivores. Their people are great, the decor is fun, their prices are reasonable, and the food seems to be on par with the other restaurants in town. For vegetarians, know that like most of the other Mexican restaurants in town, their food contains hidden animal ingredients.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
