Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
I stopped for a snack before I headed into Indianapolis. It an Applebee's so you generally know what to expect, but the thing that really blew me away was the customer service. I was greeted quickly by the hostess and seated at a table in the bar area. I just ended up having an appetizer and a drink. The waitress, Crystal, was extremely kind and attentive! This is a great place to stop along the I-69 corridor!

Good ol' Applebee's. The food is always great, and the servers are usually pretty awesome. I have been going to the Anderson location since I was a child, and it has always been great. Some of the newer menu items are not that great, such as the sizzlers. For one they stay extremely hot for too long to get to enjoy them, and then they are bland! Stick to the ribs and burgers. The fried green beans are very good too. I will always go back!

Well done surprising me and exceeding expectations! I not an Applebee's fan typically, but had been directed here for a business mtg. The service was incredibly fast, and friendly. The manager was doing a great hob and the servers even treated each other with deference and respect. Several times when standing in an odd spot I was asked if I had been helped, and the manager even touched in well to serve. Everyone was fast but not harried. The food came quick and hot--and was amazingly healthy off new menu. I would not normally ever pick an Applebees for a business lunch meeting but everytime I'm to meet in Anderson now I will. Well done surprising me and exceeding expectations!

Food took like forever. Siracha shrimp appetzier was ok but not great. Very little spice taste, so only tasted the grease. Rest of food took forever and wasn't good. New shrimp salad was meager and shrimp looked half raw. Riblets were fatty and sauce was not what ordered. French fries at least were hot. We ll NOT try an Applebee's again, and especially not when traveling. Only bright note was our check was Comped by Mgt Cuz waiter forgot us!

I called to place a ToGo order and Kristin answered. It was apparent that this young lady had a chip on her shoulder from the minute she answered the phone. A very gruff, angry tone to her voice she had an agenda to be like a Fast food order taker only stopping talking to take a breath. I was interrupted while trying to place my order three separate times by Kristin who clearly was more focused on pushing buttons on a screen than having the customer service skills required to interact with a customer. At the end of the order, much like a Fast food order taker next door, my order was wrong. Kristin my dear, a piece of advice when dealing with the public. Smile, even if you don't want to and listen to what your customer is saying. Have a piece of paper at hand to write down what they want rather than be focused on your terminals objective guiding you through an order. You'll come off more polite and likely make better tips. After speaking to the Manager Mike he apologized sincerely. The steak was great.

Before you judge me, I didn't choose to go here. I've never cared for Applebee's. If I'm going to eat at one of the casual dining chains, I'd pick Chili's, Houlihans or O'Charley's any day of the week. But this location was especially bad for me. It took us about five minutes to get seated when most of the restaurant was empty. I'm sure our waitress was a wonderful gal, but she sure didn't show it that night. She rarely came to our table, or any table in our kitschy dining area. She was kind of unpleasant. Wish I remembered her name For appetizers, our cheese sticks were cold and undercooked. How can you mess up fried cheese sticks? Seriously?! BBQ boneless wings were good, about on par with Wendy's. But more expensive. I had a bland, unimaginative steak for my entree. I ordered medium-rare and it came about well-done. I would've sent it back had I seen our waitress. Plus the replacement probably would've been bloody and tasteless, instead of dry and tasteless. Nobody else at my table enjoyed their meals, except for the girl who wanted to go here. She really love those skillet sizzler things... We still left our bitter waitress an 18% tip, just out of common decency. But then I wrote on the check "You were a terrible waitress and didn't deserve this tip. Enjoy!". I really showed her! The sad thing is Applebee's has really improved in the last few years, but its still bad. There's a Ruby Tuesdays down the street. Do yourself a favor.

Food was great, served pretty quickly. Was disappointed to be sat at a dirty table which is where the 5 star disappeared. Great place to eat, has yet to disappoint me.

We were traveling home and decided to stop for lunch at this Applebees. Big mistake. The greeter was friendly and the manager sat us right away, telling us that, "if there was anything we needed just to let him know." The waitress came by after about 5 minutes and took our drink order. She brought our drinks and since we were still deciding on what to order she said she'd be back. That was the last we saw of her. Another waitress taking care of another section was taking orders from people who were seated after we were. We kept looking around for either our waitress or the manager and neither could be found. After 15 minutes, we got up and left. We couldn't believe that she would just leave us there and not return to take our order. Went to the Olive Garden on Scatterfield Rd. and had terrific wait service and good food. We will never return to this Applebee's again, ever.

Come here through the week and get their 3.99 appetizers. Their boneless wings are the best i've had. All the other appetizer are good as well (i've had the chicken quesadillas, sliders, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings). Well worth the money!

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
