The best Fast food! I don't even consider it as fast food! The ribs blows Chili's out of the water.

Nothing spectacular here and the menus up across the back wall are a bit hard to read. Prices are pretty high for what you get. I tried the Pit Boss for $5.99. The sandwich was smaller than one of those small take home containers. Maybe a scoop of meat; tasteless and had no seasoning to it. A small amount of coleslaw; again no taste. An onion ring to top it off between a slightly toasted bun. For that price the sandwich came with no side and simply was not worth it. For that price, I'll buy a whole pork butt, make my own and feed six. Go to Baby Back Blues over in Plainfield for a better fair and pricing. For about $7 you can get an entire meal.

too expensive for hot dogs, 4 hot dogs 4 fries and 4 drinks 2 cups of cheese were almost $30. the place is clean and the workers are friendly. the italian beef is sliced too thick and in turn is rubbery. good gyros sliced to order. good ice cream. good burgers. sometimes skimpy on the fries. and the size of drinks could be more generous as well.

I have to agree with Damon B. He was right on the money. The pit boss sandwich sounded good to me, but nothing to write home about. I also found the ribs to be dry and not very meaty. Not as good as some places like the Patio. I usually have the pulled pork, very good. Staff is very friendly and many other good items on the menu. Prices are reasonable. Try it out some time. There is outdoor seating for nice summer days.

This was excellent Q, for a restaurant. I had the brisket and pork ribs with corn on the cob and cole slaw. Talking to my BIL, he knows the owners, and they start the Q at home in their own pits and finish in the restaurant. Does not taste awful like a Famous Dave's would. Fantastic, smokey flavor.

Fast and very friendly service. Great fresh food- love the ribeye steak sandwich, pulled pork and the homemade coleslaw. Did not care for the bbq sauce- tasted like Open Pit.

Great food. I'm so happy that there is finally a place nearby with good gyros!

I would classify Smokey's in my list of 'decent' places to go in town. The food generally meets expectations, though, we have found our favorites here and haven't really been fond of the other things we've tried on the menu. (Gyros, Rib Tips, and Brisket being the favorites). Even our favorites are just 'good' and not 'amazing'. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could for a decent overall experience, but I'd love for Smokey's to get a little more out of their food than your average restaurant. Perhaps I've been spoiled by some of the BBQ places down in Texas where you can tell the meat was just BBQ'd out back and is tender and smokey and full of flavor, but here it all mostly seems to be not quite as fresh and much more like typical restaurant food. Beverages. As of the last time I went, I remember beverages seeming quite small, and also if I remember correctly you only get one refill (what places do that these days!) The staff is friendly. Overall, go there if you're in the mood for BBQ or decent gyros, but don't expect to be 'wowed' and you'll be just fine.

Smokey's is fantastic. There is something for everyone, adults to kids, whether it be ribs, burgers, salads, or hot dogs....the list goes on and on. This location (even when owned by others) has always been an ice cream staple in Yorkville, and they've stayed true to that as well. After school music concerts, they offer to donate 10% of proceeds (with coupon from program) to the Yorkville Music Boosters. Involvement in the community is always great. Pricing is fair, they carry PEPSI products (LOVE IT), and the staff is friendly and prompt. Great people, great restaurant.

Smokey's is awesome! It's a great choice for your typical classic cravings like burgers and fries, chicken fingers, fish you name it they have it! It tastes sooooo good plus everybody will be satisfied with what they order here. It's a little small but that's what adds character. It's in a very convenient location as well.

Great place, great food and good prices! Only reason for 4 stars instead if 5, the staff doesn't smile and aren't the friendliest, but the pulled pork, chicken on a pita and their desserts are amazing!! Great casual place for the family!

The address should read: 1002 S Main St Yorkville, IL 60560-1640 This is our number one stop for ice cream in Yorkville- good "ice cream stand" type choices and prices. The food otherwise is good, and if not the best of its kind in the world it is still worth trying. We recommend.

I love this restaurant. The food is great. The only thing I do not like is that they allow the TV to be set at a deafening level when you have to sit within three tables of it. Sometimes there is no volume like other restaurants have but when it is on it actually prevents you from hearing the cashier and you can't even hear the people sitting across from you at your table. If this was resolved I would enjoy my visit more and go there more often.

We ordered beef brisket and a pulled pork sandwich. There was ZERO evidence of smoking done to the beef whatsoever. Terrible false advertising! It masqueraded as a mom-&-pop restaurant version of the McRib. The cornbread muffins were so dry they fell to pieces after being unwrapped -in other words, ask for a spoon so you can eat it. The pulled pork was just OK. The bun was a bad choice for pulled pork -the gritty cornmeal coating and overly soft texture turned the squishy meat sandwich into a sloppy mess. The macaroni was not creamy, just greasy and looked like it was made hours earlier -not fresh. It tasted that way as well. The best part, their fries. If only a greasy, fried side order was enough substance to overlook mediocre main dishes! If you're looking for good BBQ, keep looking.

Stopped in around lunch time and grabbed a brisket dinner to go. A choice of 2 sides came with the dinner; I ordered the coleslaw and baked beans. At first glance, I took note of the brownish-gray brisket void of any smoke ring or bark. After digging in, I quickly realized that my meal was fast food product likely purchased at the neighborhood GFS. Reminded me of deli roast beef cooked in a pan on the stove top. Barbecue sauce was very plain, as was the lukewarm, dry brisket. coleslaw was heavy on the mayo, and the baked beans were reminiscent of Bush's canned variety. All due respect, this is simple, fast food barbeque.

I had a southwestern salad without meat and it was good. I usually go here for the buger so I was surprised at the fresh salad. It was not particularly tastee, but it was well made and fresh. I enjoyed it.

When it comes to independently owned quick serve restaurants in Yorkville, Smokeys and Munchies are the best in town. Smokeys has an excellent pulled pork sandwich along with many other offerings. The daily soups are made in house, as well as most of the sides. This place is packed during the summer months for ice cream sales. Smokeys also sponsors many local events in addition to sports teams. Their community involvement is second to none. Service and food wait times are ample given everything is made to order. If you're in the mood for something different, this place will leave you full and satisfied.

This place was pretty generic and not true to an actual barbecue joint. Everything tasted like it came from a box and the side portions were so small that they couldn't feed even one person. Nothing had an actual barbecue flavor, more like a barbecue sauce taste. The prices were far too high for the quality and portion size and the menu had random food items such as grilled cheese and gyros, not to mention a drive through, both indicative of a barbecue imitation.
(1)
Alex H.
Great food at a great price. Very friendly staff. I take my family here on a regular basis, best BBQ joint around. Can't beat it, in my opinion.

So, the Smokeys in Oswego is closed down now. Not too surprising, but I think mostly based on a large building in a higher rent area without enough sit down customers. So... we went to the Yorkville location. I had a pit boss and fries, along with sampling my daughters chicken tenders. The pit boss, a beef brisket and pulled pork sandwich topped with coleslaw and onion rings, was good but not great. There isn't anything particularly bad or good about this sandwich. The chicken tenders, surprisingly, were delicious. I've also had their ribs once before and found them dry and overcooked. If you're in the mood for quick BBQ, this place is certainly an option... and possibly the best in the Oswego / Yorkville area. Their prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and everything is tender. Give it a try

I generally like smokeys for a very rare fast food night. I usually try to get a salad or the veggie pita while my husband gets a cheeseburger and a pizza puff. The food is usually pretty good however they have a tendency to leave things out of the bag for take out. For instance there has been a couple times where I got the Greek salad and the dressing wasn't in the bag, and twice (including last night) they left the cucumber sauce out of the bag.....the cucumber sauce was the reason I got the veggie pita in the first place. Overall these occurrences won't stop us from going there, however, I will always check the bag from now on before I drive away.

Smokey's is one of our favorite places to eat in Yorkville. I love the staff, and you can tell they are treated well by the owners because they've had the same people working there for several years. My daughter thinks they have the best cheese fries (even better than Portillo's) and we all think they have the most amazing grilled cheese on the planet - big, thick Texas toast all buttered up with hot, melting cheese. The best! They have good ice cream and shakes too. We love when winter comes because they make great homemade soups and chili, too.

The beef brisket was so tender that you didn't need a knife ... it fell apart ... the portion was more than plenty even for me (235 pound BBQ fanatic) ... the baked beans were sweet with a little spicy kick ... oh, by the way ... the brisket is served with the regular sauce dribbled on it ... I preferred their spicy sauce ... it was a little sharp but not too hot ... it's worth the trip even though Hwy 47 is torn up from the Fox River south past the restaurant ...

Pretty good food at somewhat average price. The first time I had Smokey's was to sample my husband's dinner... he'd gotten the BBQ pulled pork and the beef brisket. It was absolutely phenomenal. The last couple of times I've gotten the pulled pork it has been very peppery and not as good as that first time, so I'm not sure if they tweaked the recipe. I have also had the Smokey's Burger and was not impressed at all... it was just very sloppy and I couldn't really even taste the cole slaw, so I'll stick to a regular burger, which my husband says are very good and comparable to another famous restaurant's burgers (Italian place that starts with a "P"). The cole slaw is very good. Fries are excellent. Onion rings are good but super greasy for some reason (more so than from other places). The mac-n-cheese is horrible - just pass on that. I ordered it once and when I opened the container the cheese wasn't even melted, or stirred, I should really say - it was still in little powdered cheese clumps and thoroughly unappetizing. The mashed potatoes are nothing special - typical fast food, instant style. Overall the menu has promise, and you can't go wrong with ice cream. I really hope this becomes a staple for Yorkville - as we would be lost if it ever left!! Oh - and I almost forgot to mention, they also have yummy ice cream treats for dessert... if you have any room left after dinner!

the service was great and the potions are huge. Unfortunately the food is less than average. Had the Pit Boss and the meat was mushy and tasteless. No smoke flavor at all. The only flavor was from the BBQ sauce that tasted like your typical mesquite bottled sauce from the store.

Tom M.
Great barbeque, sides, and service. Nothing fancy, and not cheap but really really good food. Did I mention really really good food?
(5)
Chris H.
Not real BBQ. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was good, but has no smoke flavor or charred crust on the outside. It seems like the pork was just slow cooked in a crock pot and not in a real wood smoke pit like the sign says. I'm sure the rest of their food is good, but I wouldn't suggest this place for barbecue or anything resembling barbecue. They have your typical Chicagoland menu of burgers, hot dogs, gyros, beef etc.
(2)
Christopher E.
Even though I grew up around amazing BBQ joints, I swear I'm not a BBQ snot, but this place is just average - not bad, not super. I've been here a few times, and I will certainly be back, but its always a "hungry and in the neighborhood" situation, instead of a craving for Smokey's.

Great barbeque, sides, and service. Nothing fancy, and not cheap but really really good food. Did I mention really really good food?

This was excellent Q, for a restaurant. I had the brisket and pork ribs with corn on the cob and cole slaw. Talking to my BIL, he knows the owners, and they start the Q at home in their own pits and finish in the restaurant. Does not taste awful like a Famous Dave's would. Fantastic, smokey flavor.

Fast and very friendly service. Great fresh food- love the ribeye steak sandwich, pulled pork and the homemade coleslaw. Did not care for the bbq sauce- tasted like Open Pit.

Great food. I'm so happy that there is finally a place nearby with good gyros!

(3)Ben B.
Very friendly staff! They are so nice. Food was good! Not fantastic! Would go again if passing through!!
(4)Hilary H.
(5)Rae M.
(5)Dee F.
AMAZING! Food is delicious. I've tried everything on the menu and love it all. My family and I have everything catered from here and people rave about the food! Stop here, you will love it too!
(5)Heather R.

(1)David N.
(2)John H.
I had a southwestern salad without meat and it was good. I usually go here for the buger so I was surprised at the fresh salad. It was not particularly tastee, but it was well made and fresh. I enjoyed it.
(4)Brad W.
(4)Ivan C.
Great family atmosphere dining. Everything I've eaten here has been fantastic. If the prices were a tad cheaper I'd be coming here more often. But great quality food and staff.
(4)Emily S.
Yes. Oh my god yes. Eat here. The gyros sandwich was awesome. The onion rings were honestly the best I've ever eaten. Plus, the cute piggy statues everywhere made me smile.
(5)Jessica P.
Very fast service and such yummy food with great prices! Thank you for feeding all us Mary Kay girls today!!
(5)Kevin H.
This is one of those place that just screams comfort food. Excellent BBQ and burgers.
(5)Mike A.
Try the pulled pork sandwich ,it's the best! They have a great ice cream selection my son loves! Fair pricing, casual atmosphere. Would recommend it to everyone
(5)David S.
Very good customer service and food! Prices great too! Yet to have anything I didn't like!!
(4)Medina K.
(1)Alex H.
Great food at a great price. Very friendly staff. I take my family here on a regular basis, best BBQ joint around. Can't beat it, in my opinion.
(5)Amber P.
I'm not big on their bbq but I'm partial from working in a southern bbq joint for years. However I do injoy goin in for burgers icecream soup and chicken :)
(4)Damon B.
(3)Christine C.
(3)Andie G.
(5)Hal C.
Best gyros in the area. Well flavored generous portions. Pulled pork BBQ flavorful. Good fresh salads that are huge. Good place to stop.
(5)Sunny M.
(4)Carlo C.
Very good BBQ. The price point is low which is nice. The staff is always super friendly. The only knock would be that the food is at times inconsistent. A great dish one time might be dry the next. Overall I enjoy it and I continue to go there on a regular basis.
(3)MaryLou C.
Those pork chop sandwiches are to die for! The best!! Bring back the turkey burger too - loved them
(4)Becky H.
I'm usually pretty happy when we eat here and I'm not afraid to try anything on the menu - it more often then not is good. If you get a salad or a sandwich and a side you'll be paying average price ($6-$8), but if you get a dinner - which comes with two sides of your choice - you'll be paying $9 and up.
(3)TJ G.
Oh, man -- What can I say? If you're in need of a great smoked food experience, you have GOT to come here. I've had EVERYTHING on the menu with no complains whatsoever! The baked beans are the best I have ever had.
(5)Kate E.
My husband and I eat out here quite often, we LOVE this place! I know there is a newer location in Oswego, but we've only been to the Yorkville location. If you're in the mood for some real good BBQ... this is your place! The pricing is fair - it's probably slightly higher than say a Chili's or something - but the quantity & quality is much better! Everything here is great, from Chicago Style hot dogs, the pulled pork platter, gyros... everything is delicious! And they definitely don't skimp on serving sizes! They have great sauces in a variety of flavors (sweet or more hot & spicy) to add to your dishes. I think they even sell them... we plan to buy one next time we're there. We haven't found a great BBQ sauce in a while - this one is great! (We like the hotter one.) Great service, friendly and fast. I really hope this becomes a staple for Yorkville - as we would be lost if it ever left!! Oh - and I almost forgot to mention, they also have yummy ice cream treats for dessert... if you have any room left after dinner!

(2)Christopher E.
Even though I grew up around amazing BBQ joints, I swear I'm not a BBQ snot, but this place is just average - not bad, not super. I've been here a few times, and I will certainly be back, but its always a "hungry and in the neighborhood" situation, instead of a craving for Smokey's.
(3)Heidi M.
For a drive thru, they are tops. They also remember my dogs every time I go through, which my pups love. Ice cream is great too. Wish the fried mushrooms were a larger portion but I need to lose a few pounds so that's ok. They're really tasty!
(5)Guy I.
Real authentic BBQ, pretty good on the variety scale for Yorkville. Pulled pork and ribs are good, the Pit Boss sandwich with beef, pork and onion rings is tasty. Other than the good BBQ, typical fast food joint.

Really tasty place on the south side of Yorkville. Really good barbecue, awesome gyros, and they make a great charred Maxwell St. polish. Their burgers aren't that great, but they just aren't my style. But everything else is top notch.

Very good BBQ. The price point is low which is nice. The staff is always super friendly. The only knock would be that the food is at times inconsistent. A great dish one time might be dry the next. Overall I enjoy it and I continue to go there on a regular basis.

Those pork chop sandwiches are to die for! The best!! Bring back the turkey burger too - loved them

Even though I grew up around amazing BBQ joints, I swear I'm not a BBQ snot, but this place is just average - not bad, not super. I've been here a few times, and I will certainly be back, but its always a "hungry and in the neighborhood" situation, instead of a craving for Smokey's.

Oh, man -- What can I say? If you're in need of a great smoked food experience, you have GOT to come here. I've had EVERYTHING on the menu with no complains whatsoever! The baked beans are the best I have ever had.

Oh - and I almost forgot to mention, they also have yummy ice cream treats for dessert... if you have any room left after dinner!

the service was great and the potions are huge. Unfortunately the food is less than average. Had the Pit Boss and the meat was mushy and tasteless. No smoke flavor at all. The only flavor was from the BBQ sauce that tasted like your typical mesquite bottled sauce from the store.

Great food. I'm so happy that there is finally a place nearby with good gyros!
