This is my new favorite fast food place! My finance and I love coming here for a quick dinner. Their chicken sandwiches are great and their butter garlic fries are definitely something worth trying! Pretty good prices. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and cute! A must try!

The subs at this place are pretty good. Nothing to special from what I remember. However, their butter garlic fries are RIDIC! Pricing was kind of expensive, but the butter garlic fries are oh so worth it.

I probably was one of the first customers to try Windy City subs when they first opened on Harlem. We ordered the Gyros and weren't too thrilled about them. Recently I went back with my friends who kept raving about it and ordered a salad. Nothing fancy...to talk about or even give a review on. But finally one thing i tried..their garlic french fries..WOW..they were amazingly good! Finally something on the menu to talk about! The price for the fries were so worth it and they are generous in their portion size..i love the cone shape container they give them to you in as well. The location is fine but it's so hard getting on the opposite side of the street.. Parking and service were thumbs up!

My finace and I have been going to this place for about a year, after I tried it with my sister and her husband one night. There is one reason to go here....Butter Garlic Fries! My fiance spent some time growing up in Lemont, where he frequented a restaurant called The Lemon Tree. He always told me about these fries they had there, I tried them once and loved them, but unless we are visiting his parents in Lemont we aren't going to drive 20mins for fries. Wellllllll....when I first had Windy City's butter garlic fries they tasted EXACTLY like this restaurant in Lemont. In fact a lot of their menu is similar, makes me wonder if the owner owns both places. I have had: Hot dogs- Pretty good, standard Patty Melt- Ok, nothing to write home about Gyros- Good but nothing out of the ordinary. They seem to put it on the flat top longer then other places, so that's a little different. Cheeseburger- Good but slightly salty, I still like getting this though. Beef Sand which- Was disappointing, it didn't have that good Au Jus and was salty, which sorta says a lot cause I like salty foods The fries are awesome, and they have really good sub sandwiches. I say go for the Garlic Fries and the subs, but skip it if you are looking for a really good beef sand which.

Sub sandwich was decent. Boyfriend loves the chicken pita. Gonna have to try those butter garlic fries! A little pricy for a sub joint.
(3)Shawna C.
This is the best fast food joint in town! Everything is made to order. The staff is always friendly. The place is super clean from the tables to the bathrooms. The prices have gone up a bit, but its worth it for the good food they serve. They have a grilled chicken on a pita that is to die for! Oh and the butter garlic fries! They maybe a heart attack waiting to happen, but still they are super yummy!

Solid place for Chicago style fast food. Prices are good. I really like the gyros, tons of meat on them. Never had anything I really didn't like here. Great value overall.

I'd never been here but decided to drop in since I almost always get Jimmy Johns, Potbelly and Mr Submarine for lunch. This place is impressive. Like the other reviews it is spotless inside. The prices are exceptionally reasonable and the service was polite, professional and prompt. I like that the bread is very fresh and soft. I will be back in the near future and if its consistently that fresh I will easily become a regular. I ordered a king ham prepared as-is on the menu which included white cheese (Munster?), tomatoes, lettuce, few white onions and an oil based dressing. I also had a pickle which was a fresh garlic dill cut into quarters.

If you want a sangwich, there is no other place on the planet you will get a better one. I've had all the cold sangwiches and they all are front runners. My #1 choice is the Southsider Combo w/everything, it doesn't get any better. I've had "The best!" Hoagies in Philly and while good, they don't come close to the sub's at Windy City. Windy City Subs will cater my wedding and my funeral (maybe a package deal who knows?) and I will take pics and send them to other sangwich aficionados every time I come here. The sangwich: Get everything on it. The Southsider Combo (roast beef, corned beef and provolone) is #1. But all sangwiches come with that hard-to-replicate gentle balance of onion with tomato and lettuce, served on soft, chewy, warm, delicious bread with sesame seeds. And for those of you who know the attraction of The Hoagie, this sub isn't just attractive, it's a dead sexy smoke show that makes the Hoagie look like just another street Hoe-gie. The staff here is all very friendly, your food is to-order and prepared quickly and the place always impresses me with how clean it is. The moral of this story: 36 miles is not a far drive to indulge in one of these breath-taking sangwiches.

While driving down Harlem Avenue I noticed a place called Windy City Subs With a visible sign also touting Gyros, Beef and Burgers my attention was firmly grabbed enough to decide to stop in and give this place a try. Their menu is far different than a typical sandwich shop offering things like pizza puffs, hot dogs, and sausages in addition to subs, burgers and gyros. The inside is clean, there's a fairly large dining area and a long order counter. I get the feeling this location was originally another fast food restaurant (I get an Arbys vibe from it) and has since been revamped to become Windy City Subs. One other notable attribute is that most sub places do not have the Drive Thru window present at Windy City. After looking over the menu I not surprisingly decided to try the hot dog here. The hot dog I received came on a soft regular non-poppy seed bun. There was a fairly thick pickle slice, a long sliced piece of tomato, The tomato slice was a little on the thicker side as well. There was a good application of mustard, diced onion and relish on the hot dog. The sausage itself was skinless and reasonably well heated, I didn't detect any celery salt on this particular hot dog. The overall taste and balance of flavors was adequate and overall for the price this was a solid hot dog. While by no means a supremely spectacular sausage the hot dog here was decent with no major flaws besides its simplicity. I'd say this is a good value for the price and rate this as a three star hot dog joint. It's A-OK in my book and if you're in the area you won't regret stopping here for the price.

I've been here before, but can barely remember. This time I came in to eat. Ordered a chopped steak sandwich and it was ok.... Just your average place selling Chicago favorites. They are clean I'll give them that.
(3)Melissa C.
This is my second time coming here and probably my last unless I'm dying of starvation and there is no other option. The deli meat they use could very well be Oscar Meyer. I got my friend the steak sandwich and he says it was nasty. I always order soup for my son because that's what he likes and he hardly ever or actually never turns a soup down except for the soup we got from here. I gave two stars because the fries are good and the pizza puff was too.
(2)David N.
Quick, counter service joint putting out burgers, hot dogs, subs, gyros, beef sandwiches, melts, salads, etc. Grabbed a Pizza Puff and Tuna Melt the other night; tasted like freaking heaven. Decent prices, plenty of seating, and quick ticket times had me in and out. Open 7 days a week til 2 a.m., this place has plenty of fast food offerings to properly assist with hangover prevention.
(4)Laynee G.
If I could, I would have given no stars. Absolutely disgusting. Just ordered $39 of food. Ordered 2 windy city supers, the loop super, cup of "cream of potato" and garlic fries. One bite of each and I couldn't but help the urge to vomit. Then the "strawberry milkshake" was more like pepto mixed with milk. I do not understanding how this place has any good reviews. Seriously, RUN!
(1)Bill V.
Fast friendly and always good food Been coming here for a few years and never disappointed yet
(5)Juan M.
The Butter Garlic Fries are amazing. I a big fan of their gyros sandwiches as well. I really recommend them over any chain. The thing I also really like is that they are open late. The only reason I docked them a star is sometimes they are understaffed in my opinion but it's not all that serious.
(4)Jeannie A.
I've driven past this place a million times - not sure why I've never stopped in. Today was a hot day and I did not want to cook, or eat anything hot. We opted for subs and that brought me here. The place is clean - sparkling clean, and bright. I don't think this is something I would really notice, unless it was dirty. But the cleanliness hit me as soon as I walked in. Loved it! Service was friendly and fast. I ordered a variety of king size subs to go. I had The Loop. It was good - lots of bread, could have used a little more meat, but overall - quality ingrediants. All the subs looked the same and no one had any complaints. I'll be sure to stop in every now and then, as I drive by often.
(4)Lisa M.
Love this Place! Never have they ever made a mistake with my orders, have great food and great service. Have been going there a few times a month for about 5 years now! Love the garlic fries, gyros, subs and Hot Dogs!
(5)Shelly S.
They offer quite a few 'combos', which bring the price down a bit. The hot dogs remind me of when we had 'hot dog day' in grammar school.
(4)Alex C.
I've been in here 2 times and my first time was a little better than my visit yesterday. For my first time, I ordered a roast beef sub with a side of the garlic butter fries. These were both good, I prefer the garlic butter fries over the regular fries. Cold roast beef was decent, not sure it's as good as Peppo's nearby, but alas, the price difference might explain that. Now for visit number 2. I got the Italian Beef meal for $7.50. I specifically ordered it "for here" but when my order came out it was bagged up to go and not on a red tray. Meh, not a big deal I guess. This Italian Beef was just OK. To me, it was a little bland and spongy, and could have possibly used more au jus. French fries were not that good, I should have gotten the garlic butter fries instead. Honestly, I would have rather paid $8.50 for the same Italian beef meal Buona has. I still think I will try Windy City Subs again, as their gyro looks good as well as some of the other sub sandwiches. Not a bad place for some quick lunch that isn't McDonalds.
(3)Glenn K.
Great subs burgers and dogs. A little pricy but a nice treat once in a while. Nice servers..Deborah! !
(4)Delaina C.
Best tuna salad ever. Love the 3 cheese veggie sub too.My husband loves everything here. Deborah is great. She always has my to go order just right.
(5)Ramsey B.
Great place to enjoy fast food dining. Very clean and comfy establishment. Reasonably priced food items. The hot dogs, burgers, subs, and gyros are an excellent choice. And they are open late.
(4)Laura W.
I love windy city, been coming out for about 4-5 years monthly. I usually get a sub with soup. But the burgers are good and my kids love the hot dogs of course. I also recommend the veggie sub, ham n cheese on pita and chicken on pita w ranch instead of mayo... enjoy
(5)Zak W.
I got food poisoning from this place over a year ago and said to my self I'll never eat there again. Well, last night I was offered free food as long as I went to get it. I ordered the gyro and sure enough woke up with food poisoning...never again..never again
(1)Emily K.
Three words...butter-garlic-fries. SO GOOD! I ate other food, which was also tasty, but oh my god butter garlic fries. Omnomnom. I totally lucked out finding this place when I was randomly in the area one day. My friend and I had an awesome, filling lunch and had a TON of leftovers. (My friend then threw them away on accident...but that is another story.) The staff was also super nice and the dining room was cute. Only draw back was a weird little parking lot.
(4)Mike O.
As stated before this is my go to place for hot dogs and the Italian beef sandwiches are pretty decent. But now comes my disappoint meal, their gyro plate. The gyro plate here comes with only piece of pita bread only! Usually I share this plate with someone else making it two gyro sandwiches. I had to cut it in half. They also start the meal placing the pita bread on the bottom of the container, then adding the meat on top of the pita, and then finish my dumping the fries on top on the meat. By the time I get this back to work the pita bread is swimming in a pool of gyro grease. Yuk.

Great Sandwich Spot. I was feeling the hunger pains and drove past a Jimmy Johns when I spotted this place. First clue I was onto something, parking lot was full and three cars waiting at the drive through. Second clue was Palos fire truck pulls up with three on duty officers who enter the establishment at the same time I do. Shop was busy for before lunch, I ordered a Tuna Sub Sandwich. Thought I'd need to wait at least 8 minutes. Sandwich was ready in about 3 minutes. Very Tasty Tuna. Great Bread. If I lived in the area, this would be a regular lunch time stop. I could not put a finger on what this place used to be because it had the feel of a former fast food place. Who ever did the remodel did a great job with the tile and layout. Fast friendly service.
(4)Ed D.
The best gyro ever ! I have had about 15 over the last couple years before writing this review And they have been very consistent . Also just started trying the subs. They remind me of what mr subs tasted like when I was a kid.
(5)Chris L.
Windy City is just a good solid workhorse food option when your in a bind, low on time, and looking for something decent to eat. They have a large menu with a lot of options, namely subs. The subs are good, and loaded up pretty good. They also have soup and chili which are both usually pretty good as well. I've never had a hot dog or beef from them, but I'd imagine they are solid as well. It's not flashy or snazzy, but again, a good solid option if your nearby and want something decent. Added bonus, they are open till like 2 AM which is awesome, and they have a drive through!
(4)Scott E.
Very quality local place with the typical American food options you'd expect. Can't say I have anything bad to say about any of their food, as everything I've tried has been great. My only gripe is that they charge an insane amount of money if you want bacon on your burger. I may as well just get a second burger.
(4)Kelly R.
I have been coming here for years, when I still lived in town, and when I come back to visit. It's good Chicago fast food and sandwiches. I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich, or a burger. I often take one of my brother's chicken fingers too because they're really good but I feel too old to order them myself. I like their beef sandwiches, the soup, gyros, and the friendly people behind the counter. Fast service too. Butter garlic fries are either your best friend for taste or worst enemy for waist line. You have to indulge just once...
(4)Paul K.
This place is a great lunch spot for the Alsip/Worth/Palos area. I prefer it over Pops which is right down on Harlem. The Garlic butter fries are a must get with any meal. Classic subs with good Italian Beef and Gyros.
(5)Jay T.
I can't believe i haven't reviewed this place yet! I come here all the time to grab a quick meal and i love it... gyro burgers, sub sandwiches, garlic fries (Love the Garlic Fries)... everything is really good here... and the food always taste the same ..they are very consistent! It's not one of those places where the food taste great only at 1am when your super hungry from boozing. No, The food taste as good anytime! The ladies are very helpful ... the inside dinning area is always clean and you really can't ask for more! They're on point with there service and food! So If you are looking or a local great place to eat... WINDY CITY SUBS is the place to go! Even the name is bad ass! ~Cheers
(5)Sharon H.
I wanted a gyro and I got a gyro. It satisfied my gyro craving and was decently priced. Meat was a bit on the salty side but honetly DELICIOUS
(3)Matt H.
Really great subs, fresh and delicious. Only negative, the building was built by scabs as I remember randy the Rat out front before the grand opening.
(4)Mama B.
I am obsessed with their Chicken Pita's and MilkShakes! I go there at least twice a week for them! The people are friendly, the place iteself is VERY clean, and the food is awesome!!
(5)Jim S.
Just started going here after taking nature walks at Lake Katherine. So far Ive tried 2 of their subs and they are pretty darn good! Their garlic butter fries are a winner! Gonna keep coming and working my way down the menu. Do yourself a favor and skip the overrated Subway and get a REAL sub sammy!
(4)Emily M.
Yelp, you are so good to me. I was working in Palos Heights for the week and my intensive Yelp search for lunch options led me here. And I'm so glad it did. I tried the butter garlic fries because everyone said they are amazing. They weren't what I expected, but I couldn't stop eating them, so yes, they were good. They were crispy seasoned fries with added fat (butter). Yum. Bad for you. Oy. I also ordered the Italian sub and it was a very delicious Italian sub. This place is pretty reasonably priced. Next time I'd probably go without the fries just because I don't need them.. & getting a sandwich would keep it around $7 or less.
(5)Ibtehaj K.
A great local place to eat! I drove past it everyday for the past couple years, but finally decided to stop in and try It out, best decision! The service was fantastic and the food was great for the price. Would definitely eat there again!
(5)Steven M.
Kojaks is long gone, but this place is not far off. Great that it's open late and very clean. The washroom is another story. The beef was a little salty and the sweet peppers were large and very tasty. the fries were very good. We got served right away and at that hour of the night the employees were friendly.
(4)Bill S.
Really worth the trip! Wide variety of hot standards and sub sandwiches. Awesome soup. Ice cream and shakes. And of course the famous butter fries. And clean as can be! And the kids love it!
(5)Scott S.
This is a great place for a variety of quick, good food. I've had the hot dogs, Italian beef, and fries and all have been good at a good price. Large seating area for eating and always clean.
