Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Good, not great. I enjoyed the Singapore Noodles, but hated the crab ragoon. My husband liked the cashew shrimp and liked the shrimp fried rice. Not the best, but not the worst. We ordered to go, so no problem with the service, and it was ready super quickly.

Buffet variety very limited. Food quality low. Service average.

My wife is chinese and in the northwest suburbs, there are not many good chinese places to eat. We go out of our way to go to this restaurant. Best things they do: Sauteed fish " green beans sesame beef (my favorite) seafood soup fried tofu and veggies Some may not appreciate their willingness to use salty vegetables (a chinese mainstay in cooking) in some of their dishes, but we love it. Hard to believe anyone can say this place isn't good, but then again if you live in woodstock and you want crappy buffet food, it may not be 'good enough' for you. My recommendation: China buffet- all you can eat crappy food with plenty of crappy choices.

My husband & I have been dining @ Green Garden for many years ... their sit-down menu is extensive, their food is delicious, their restaurant areas are clean ... the lunch buffet is small compared to other buffet restaurants, but I believe they put their best dishes out there (several different types of meat are used, s/s chicken/pork, fried rice, wide rice noodles, extra roasted chicken to add to your entree) ... we have always been greeted with a smile ... the staff is attentive but they don't hover over you like so many other restaurants, so a decent conversation can be had without much interruption ... hot tea is complimentary during sit-down service ... LOVE their spring rolls & crab rangoon!

Just really lack luster pseudo Cantonese style food. Greasy as hell and not well prepared.

Decent Chinese food. Been here several times with co-workers for the lunch buffet, which is just that... buffet food. Price for the buffet is under $10, and it has a decent selection. My co-workers selected this as the best Chinese restaurant close to work. I feel like I can't be too picky, being Chinese and feeling that I can cook better than the meals this restaurant offers. It gets pretty busy and has a consistent flow of patrons. If you're craving Chinese and don't want a quick, take-out-hole-in-the-wall, type of food, this is an ok bet, but don't bet too much.

First time at the Green Garden and we will definitely return. We were greeted by a friendly hostess even though we arrived close to closing time. She answered all of our questions and our to go order was ready in less than 10 minutes. We ordered crab rangoon which was well prepared. I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce. It was spicy without being overwhelming. We also ordered the shrimp lo mein. Very tasty.

Have tried and tried again ordering from here, and after every time I realize I paid way to much for nothing special, average on their best days, tossed out their menu and erasing the number from my phone. Will say the pot stickers are without a doubt the best thing to order from here, if it wasn't for that they would get 0 stars.

Pretty darn good! We ordered the dinner for two which came with Happy Family, pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, an appetizer plate of fried wonton, spring rolls, and ribs, plus soup. The whole thing came with hot tea, too! So. Much. Food. The appetizers where yummy! Crispy vegi packed spring rolls and sticky tender ribs where a great meal kickoff. I've never been a huge fried wonton fan so for those I'll reserve judgement. The fried rice was a perfect proportion of rice, veg, and pork. We both agreed that the addition of bean sprouts was a nice touch. Happy family made for a happy Misha. I would have liked more chicken but the shrimp and scallops were perfect! The sweet and sour chicken should just be the standard. Plenty of veggies and meat with yummy bursts of pineapple. I'll definitely be back! PS. To the fella who left the one star rating: SHAME ON YOU for knowing your child had a serious food allergy and not asking about the ingredients in prepared food. Your assumption was very dangerous and then to take your negligence out on the restaurant? Deplorable.

It is hard to get excited about Chinese food sometimes but this place has been around for a while and is consistently good. Hong Kong chicken, Won Ton Soup and egg rolls are always a crowd pleaser. The pink paint and music soundtrack are quirky. The booths are pretty blown out but its all part of the experience.

This is a gem of a restaurant, located in a strip center just north of the major highway intersection on the south side of town, virtually across the street from my hotel. I placed a carry-out order that was ready incredibly fast. The menu is large, reasonably priced, with numerous offerings from mild to hot. A unique feature of the menu is offering entrees in regular and small portions. I don't eat much, and the small portion was more than enough for me. I ordered Chicken Kow. The dish had bite size, tender and tasty bits of breast meat. Vegetables in the dish included pea pods, mushrooms, bok choy, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, carrots and broccoli, all in a light, flavorful sauce, all served with rice. The restaurant doesn't seem to cater to travelers, though, with no utensils or dishes included. If you're in a hotel, see if there are place settings available, or you'll end up eating out the box, like I did. That's a minor inconvenience for a good dinner that was a wonderful alternative to a franchise meal. I will return!

Where's the love for Green Garden? Been going here on/off over the years and always get a tasty meal. I've had NUMEROUS bad experiences at Chinese restaurants and you Woodstock folks are LUCKY to have a Green Garden in town. White meat chicken, big menu, the choice of large/small servings, and the pastel decor??? Come on. Sesame Chicken is a favorite. Sweet and Sour Chicken and Empress Chicken are close seconds. Crab Rangoons are crispy and great with hot mustard. Egg rolls do, though, pale in comparison to Plum Garden in McHenry. Got takeout the other night and the owner was friendly, patient and served our takeout FAST. Whenever I'm visiting home and have a taste for Chinese, Green Garden is my go-to place.

Way too much money for way too little food. Poor quality for the prices. Ordered for the first time last night and will not be ordering from here again. $11 for a general zhous chef special which only came with a small portion of the chicken and vegetables. Nothing else. I could have paid half the price for something like that else where. The BBQ pork was disgusting. Absolutely gross. The egg fu young was disappointing as well. in they're defense the sweet and sour chicken was descent, nothing I can't get somewhere else but it was bad.

For little old Woodstock, this place has excellent Chinese food. I've tried Kung Pao Chicken in numerous restaurants throughout the country, but their's is still the best. I never understand why the other "Chinese" restaurant in town does such a business. If you're looking for a local inexpensive spot, this is your place.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I just recently moved to Woodstock and decided to try a new Chinese restaurant out. This seems like a bad idea now. We order the general zhous chicken, curry chicken and spring rolls. We did not get our spring rolls we paid for and the food was disgusting. The portion sizes were extremely small. The general zhous chicken was very tiny for the price we paid. The curry chicken did not taste like curry, and it was very watery. Plus it was overloaded with water chestnuts. After starting to eat the curry chicken, I found a hair in the food. We will not be returning.

Very bad experience here. The food is generally good, not great, so I would give it three stars. My cause for giving it one star is a STRONG issue with the menu. We ordered Spring Rolls, which were cooked in vegetable oil (they advertise this on their menu). Our son has a STRONG peanut allergy so we carefully ordered chicken with Hoisin sauce and Spring Rolls . While eating our son did not feel well, and after he vomited we found out that they use peanut butter in their Spring Roll; this was NOT disclosed anywhere. The reason I give it one star is that we cannot trust the restaurant menu. As parents, we could have asked, but when the item says vegetables, meat, etc. we did not see it as necessary. I put 1/2 blame on the restaurant for ack of disclosure on something so commonly at issue.

If it was an option to give this zero stars I would. First of all I spoke to Lisa on the phone to order pick up, I was rushed placing my order. I asked a simple question if they had egg rolls without shrimp and she said yes. I added them to my order in confident that they did not contain shrimp was mistaken when I took the first bite. I also ordered the chicken with cashews (usually my go to at other Chinese restaurants) -containing VERY little amount of chicken, a moderate amount of cashews and what I would say was more than 1/2 the container full of water chestnuts and unrecognizable squishy squares. Overall very disappointed with the service, presentation and taste. I do not recommend this establishment.

Came here once for lunch with my boyfriend, dive we wanted Chinese. The decor was old and slightly dirty, but we were up for giving out a try. My chicken and broccoli was o.k. but his orange chicken was gross. Overcooked, goopy, gross. We went here cause the reviews looked decent, but I won't come back.

Having lived and traveled throughout the U.S. and patronized many Chinese style restaurants, this little gem is not a upscale like PF Changs, nor at the other end, China Buffet or Happy Wok. However, it is reasonably good and have eaten here and taken out a couple of dozen times over the years. I considered value and cost in evaluating this restaurant. That being said, here is my take on them: The buffet is limited, but the type of dishes and quality are above average, with some of the dishes close to outstanding. None of the dishes are unique, just good, mostly flavorable and decently executed. Their take on Crab Rangoon and Barbequed Ribs is different and could be a turn off to some. It took me a while to come around to the Rangoons. The dinner menu, is extensive. However, zeroing in on a few items: the Sesame and Hunan Chicken are superb entries as is the Sweet and Sour Pork. General Zhou's is nice and spicy. Beef with Broccoli and Kung Pao Beef are quite good. Shrimp with Pea Pods is excellent. Children generally have liked the various Fried Rice dishes, Chow Mein,, Egg Drop Soup, different versions of the Chop Suey. You can ask the server to have the cook tone down the spicy heat or to ramp it up. (I've seen customers who were perspiring while they eat - no kidding!). You can ask them to make vegetable substitutions. Cocktails are not their specialty. Bottled beer goes well with a lot of the dishes, especially the spicy Hunan style offerings. Tea and almond cookies can really top off your meal. For takeout, as with all restaurants, you should check your order before leaving the premises.

My mother-in-law and I stopped in yesterday and had the lunch buffet. First thing we noticed was that there wasn't much veriety, not to mention that most of the pans had minimal food in them. The food was room temperature except for the General Tso's chicken, which was just filled prior to us getting to that pan. We had the house tea and water for drinks. The staff was so, so, but that is normally expected at a Chinese style restaurant. A few hours after we got home we both started feeling sick to our stomach's. It got much worse for me as I probably ate more than my mother-in-law did. Well that was just the begining of what turned out to be one of the worst nights of my life. I won't go into details, but let me just say that I've never been so sick. As of the writing of this review, I am still sick. I'll never go back again.

Stopped in for the lunch buffet. No frills, simple furniture and no decorations to speak of. We were shown to a booth and someone set down waters and a pot of hot tea. We were left to fend for ourselves at the buffet. The selection of food was...uhm, spartan let's say. Maybe around 15 items total. But what do you expect for $6.50, right? There was hot'n'sour soup, eggdrop soup, a couple choices of entrees, and a mound of fried rice, and another of noodles. Their regular menu is HUGE, not sure how this little place can offer so many items. Also the people working there had kind of a strange attitude...seems like they just wanted to get you in and out of there.

Good Chinese food. One of the better Chinese buffets I've had which are typically mediocre.
