The roomy, no-frills lobby area is perfect for meandering around for fifteen minutes trying to decide what to buy. And why waste a trip by getting just one item? I've been investigating local meat shops, and I really like Norshore. Prices are decent, and quality is very high. Last time, I got a nice pork tenderloin for $5.98/lb and a strip steak for $11.50 which turned out to be the best steak that I've ever cooked at home. Mmm mmm. They have polish sausage (B+) and bratwurst (A-) better than anything that you can get in a grocery store, both for $3.79/lb. The Italian sausage is very good too; I used some in my last batch of chili (go for the hot, which isn't very spicy, instead of the regular). What DON'T they have here? Besides the regular meats, there are marinated chicken breasts, twice-baked potatoes, pies, 2-lb meatloaf already in an aluminum baking pan ($7.98!), homemade chili, a handful of deli meats and cheeses...plus about fifty other things that I'm forgetting.

Norshore is Great for a lot of reasons, but having the hands down best skirt steaks around doesn't hurt! Also the best ground chuck (which they will add fat to and grind to order for me) and the best Prime Rib also... No kidding. I re-discovered them when buying chuck at various vendors to make a great burger. They had the best and I went from there. The prime rib I just had for Christmas was astounding and everybody at my table thanked me for it. 12 pounds of wonder! The brisket I recently smoked was likewise wonderful. Gail, Mike and Ed are siblings and it's been a family business for a long time. They know what they're doing. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays just FYI.

Been shopping here for years. Always top quality and it has to be the cleanest butcher shop in the world. Everything is great, including the frozen meat and chicken.

I have been shopping here for as long as I can remember. The first thing you will notice upon entering is how clean the place is. This is a family run business and everyone has a role to play. Gail makes the prepared foods for the freezer and handles the business end. Ed and Mike do their magic with the preparation of the raw meats. You want a work or art- get Ed's whole beef tenderloin. Your guests will thank you for it. Mike has unlimited patience when it comes to trimming brisket for me.We also share recipes and I often get ideas on what to cook for dinner! Most things are prepared to order- your ground meats are not sitting in the cooler for hours. Call ahead to place your order and it will be ready whenever you like. Do yourself a favor-don't bother buying meat in a chain or the warehouse stores. My mom always told me to buy the best quality you can buy...just serve less if you have to. Almost forgot to mention- Boar's Head hotdogs and bacon. You can even order the cocktail size hotdogs and they will get them in stock for you. Treat yourself and those you care about to the best.....Norshore Meats & Deli.

Norshore Meats is truly a gem -- outstanding quality meats, friendly service and encyclopedic knowledge about all things meat-related. I originally tried them when a recipe called for an unusual cut of meat that I couldn't find at a big grocery store. They expertly prepared what I needed and the recipe was a hit. Their prime filets are so good, that when my in-laws are in town, they order a dozen frozen filets to take home with them -- and they are from OMAHA. Get the picture? I think we've become used to grocery store meat and have forgotten how delicious good quality meat is supposed to be. Norshore's ground beef is so good that I can't even use grocery store meat any more. You owe it to yourself to try the difference. Grill up 2 of their prime filets, open a bottle of wine and you'll be in heaven. Truly the best!

Really good meat and the professional service you'd expect in a neighborhood butcher from your father's era. Prices are a little steep if you're used to buying your meat at Jewel, but the quality makes it worth every cent. Great place to pick up a gift certificate for a buddy too.

These guys have the best roasts around and that includes the ultra high end mail order joints like Lobel's. Plus they're nice AND local!

Want fresh high quality meat and your near Wilmette - this is the place to go. They cut the meat or ground beef while you wait! Don't worry that doesn't mean a long wait as they are efficient and it takes only a couple minutes. If you call in advance they'll have it waiting for you. The place is very clean and you can watch them hand cut pieces of meat in front of you. Not a lot of pomp and circumstance - they focus on fresh high quality meat not a lot of groceries or other stuff. Got some ground chuck for burgers to grill this weekend when company came, they were devoured and got lots of compliments. Sadly they only have pre made patties in their frozen case so I had to do that myself but that's not a big deal. Don't recall the price except that it didn't seem shocking like some butcher shops. They don't have a lot of stuff in the meat case but don't let this fool you - they carry a lot they just prefer to cut it fresh and not let it sit in the case. Grab a price list to get a sense of all they have. Noticed an apple blueberry pie in a bag in the freezer case and couldn't resist after the folks behind the counter raved about how good it was. The clerk told me to bake it 15 minutes longer than it said especially if you bake it from being frozen - she was right it did take just over an hour to bake. It was divine and our company RAVED about it. Now I'm addicted and my friends will expect it next time they visit. This will be my new go to local meat market. Absolutely worth the extra stop and little extra cost - it's super clean, carries quality meat and has great service - friendly and knowledgable.
