All the shrimp, chicken, pork, and beef dishes I've had here have been good.

The food was completely average, the spicy orange chicken was not spicy. The egg roll with the lunch special was very small and barely resembled an egg roll. The biggest disappointment was the crab Rangoon. THERE WAS NO FILLING AT ALL. Just wonton. I threw it all out. Never again.

I created a rule that if we went out anytime this week we have to eat or get food from somewhere we've never been. Enter House of Chan for takeout. They gave us one too many food items, which would have been okay if the food had been good. Servings were huge, which would have been great if the food had been good. Everything was very thick in an unflavorful way, like a lot of corn starch was used. Curry shouldn't be thick...or breaded. The mongolian beef tasted really soft, like it wasn't beef. Hmmm. The orange chicken and the sesame chicken (one was the redundant order) both had an odd flavor, like wet dog. Not the direction we were looking to go with that. The crab rangoons had the tiniest bit of filling, some had no filling. The pot stickers were the best thing we got and I'd give those 2-stars. Owners seemed very nice so I feel badly being honest but it was really the worst meal we've had all year.

We had a great experience here. I called on Saturday night around 7:30 and placed an order for General Tso's chicken, chicken fried rice and moo shu pork. They hung up without giving more than a subtle affirmation that they understood my order. I didn't know what to expect. 15 minutes later my doorbell rang and the food was absolutely delicious. I'm going to be a repeat customer.

Well... The place is pretty good if you order certain items like egg foo young, pot stickers, and various soups. The governors chicken is okay too. The egg rolls leave much to desire... The people working and taking orders are the nicest.

Delicious take out Chinese restaurant! I am Asian and definitely can tell the difference between good and bad Chinese food- nothing more disappointing then picking up bad Chinese food when you're craving the good stuff! This place will not disappoint. Their egg rolls are crispy and tasty. All around very yummy traditional Chinese food :)

They have this lemon chicken dish which is excellent and cheap! I absolutely love love love this place. I use to come here for lunch once a week and I always had leftovers.

definitely not a place to dress up for. it's mostly take out, but my owner knows my mom, and we sometimes eat at one of their three small tables. lunch is a bargain.. five dollars for numerous entrees, fried rice, and an egg roll.. my favorite is the garlic chicken, curry beef, and kung pao beef. also try the chicken noodle soup. the chicken is sooo tender, just melts in your mouth. the soup broth is so good, definitely a hangover soup. also, be sure to add a little bit of the chili oil. great little place, super friendly owner.

We didn't realise that this place was take-out only when we came in here after the movies on Christmas. However, they were kind enough to serve us anyway, with real plates, silverware and everything! I loved my chicken eight delight, lots of tasty vegetables, although the chicken in garlic sauce that some friends got was very very garlicky and intense. Overall, just props for niceness and ignoring our obvious stupidity.

Our garlic chicken lacked flavor and the chicken was very chewy. The egg rolls were VERY greasy and over-fried - very unappetizing. Outdated atmosphere had me hoping for some authentic charm but the food unfortunately didn't deliver. However staff was friendly, prices were cheap, portions were generous, and our food was ready in 5 minutes flat. Would likely not go back.

I don't have high expectations from carryout-only Chinese, especially when it is located close to my work. But I cannot understand the good ratings for this place. I ordered the house combination chow mein, which meant I got to taste quite a few of the basic ingredients. The dish was ruined by shrimp that were at least a couple of days past their prime. But the cooking oil also didn't taste fresh, and the beef was of a low quality. This dish also reinforced the principle that the quality of Chinese food is inversely proportional to the quantity of sliced celery and canned water chestnuts used as ingredients. About the only thing palatable in the dish was the chicken, so if you have to eat here, maybe order the lemon chicken endorsed by another reviewer. Usually with even mediocre Chinese food, I can look forward to having a meal for the next day. But the shrimp in this dish made even that unappealing.

My absolute favorite chinese restaurant locally. Their food is definitely on the low price range, and the portions are huge. Every entree comes with a side of rice, so you're good to go on that front. My personal favorite is the Curry chicken. It's absolutely delicious fresh and hot, and the next day I mix my leftovers with stovetop Ramen. It's absolutely the perfect usage of leftover chinese. My family always picks House of Chan when we want take out.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes.
