This bar is nothing special, but I honestly mean that in the nicest way possible. It's not pretentious and the price is right. If you're simply looking for an affordable drink with regular people then this is the place to be. I ordered a few Bloody Marys as a post-5K race breakfast and was quite content. They aren't fancy or anything, but they are strong and cheap. I can appreciate that.

Be here a few times ;) for eats and drinks. Very small place ,was told it has been in the family for 40-50 years (i like that)The bartenders are always nice ,food good and clean bathrooms and late at night the bartender doubles as the cook, may take a little longer to get a drink but like i said small famiy run place so i get it and enjoy it.

Wow. Definitely a dive, and in the middle of nowhere. (i've visited twice, in teh morning). You'll get an older, quieter crowd. My group was pretty loud and rambunctious, coming in at 9am (we're night shift nurses). The food was surprisingly good. Although MASSIVE, the grilled chicken sandwhich i had was pretty tasty. on another trip, I had a grilled cheese. The bartender was happy to customize it, adding some bacon and tomato. I was also spoiled in getting a split halfsies on fries and mushrooms. The mushrooms were really pretty good. Pricing is cheap. Drinks are what you expect. I had a bloody mary once and wasn't impressed... i'd stick to bottles and straight shots, maybe, rather than mixed cocktails. But not bad! I came at an off-hour... so i don't know if my review is accurately reflective... but those are my two cents!

Mixed feelings on this place - hence the 3 stars. I had heard some great comments about their burgers so a friend and I checked it out. The burger was good, but I have had better. The bun had a good taste to it - more like the homemade variety, but as you eat the burger the bun diminishes to barely a wrap around the burger. It was $7.50 plus $0.75 for cheese - a decent price for a fairly large burger, fries extra - came with chips that were so/so. Bartender/waitress was friendly service was good. It's a classic old bar - still kept pretty clean inside too! I plan to stop there again sometime to try some of their other food specials - the $13.75 Thursday night steak special and the Friday fish fry to name a few. Glad I stopped in.

I don't know what more you can ask for in a little bar like this. We went here at lunch on a recommendation from a friend. It's not fancy, but it is clean. The service was great, the food was fantastic and the price was reasonable. I had the steak sandwich and it was two pretty large pieces of steak on a great bun. Absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back. This place is a real gem.

Arrived in Wheeling and since my hotel room wasn't quite ready yet, I asked for recommendations of where to eat. The guy at the desk said "just go north about 1 mile..." -- not really a recommendation but at least got me going in the right direction. Drove down the main street in Wheeling and saw a bunch of the usual culprits...chain restaurants. Then I saw Kilcoynes and decided to give them a try since I prefer local joints rather than chains. My first impression was uh oh...as my flip flops stuck to the floor...but I decided to give them a try. I was the only one in the dining room which is where I preferred to eat, but the bar area was pretty full. I ordered the fish and chips -- after all this IS an Irish Pub, so what better thing to order. The waitress was very friendly and gave me the history of the restaurant and was attentive without being hovering. Very generous portions of cod filets and a big plate of fries. Yummy!! Full belly...and ready to check into my hotel room and take a nap!

The food is very good and on St. Patrick's day they have all you can eat corned beef and cabbage served family style. It's really good too! It lasts for a week and is always crowded so get there early. Now on to the burgers, they are really very good. Cooked to order, they come to your seat hot and juicy. I don't remember the price at the moment but this place won't put you in the poor house like Bienlichs and the beer is ice cold. The chicken wings are not Buffalo style, but are very tasty. They have a bunch of TV's. I like this place more since the no smoking law because it's small and became very smoky. I've been there with my wife several times. The bartenders and servers are very nice. I take my Irish mother there on St. Pattys day. I revise this review next time I go there with more menu items.

This is a true neighborhood bar where everyone is friendly, plenty of TV's to watch the game, cold beer, hearty drinks and at times, live music. I ordered the fried chicken which was OUTSTANDING and had a couple of cold beers. Seriously, go for the chicken.....great value!

Typically greasy bar menu, but the food was hot, the beer was cold, and the service was friendly. It has that neighborhood bar feel and clearly a number of "regulars".

Feels like you're in Wisconsin... great bar burgers... interesting mix of neighborhood "regulars". Once you get past the "slightly seedy" feeling of the group at the bar, you'll have a good time. Drink prices are fair & the beer is cold. Actually an OK place to hang out and probably NEVER see anyone you know.
