India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. Fool me twice, shame on me. This place has the best tasting Indian food around, but something goes wrong every time. I ordered take out on Sunday for a late lunch with friends, got just over $60 worth of stuff. Picked up at 2:30, got home, and realised there was no rice in the bag. Curry, with no rice? I called them, but got voice mail. They are closed til 5. I left a message, but didn't get any reply. I left another message ten minutes later, but in the end we ate it with bread. This is our third bad experience, and I should really stop trying.

This is my 2nd favorite restaurant in Chicagoland, but my #1 suburbs Indian restaurant. The menu is amazing -- just ask first if both the south and north menu options are available that day (the chef might be out, or there might be a wedding next door). This is a tag team restaurant with the Indian Garden.

Went to this place since few of my friends came from abroad. Cashier lady in the front was not only rude but highly unprofessional. Just because of her behavior I stopped going there and recommended my family and friends to avoid this place. Later , went again with my family to grab samosa .There I saw a chubby gentleman whom I presume was the owner. He was very friendly ,though he didnt say a word but I felt comfortable as I saw him talking to other people very nicely. But again as soon as he left this cashier lady started having an attitude. This time my dad got irritated because of her attitude and we left without ordering anything. This I am writng to let others know that the food is o.k. but to avoid embarrassment before family and relatives and friends avoid going if that cashier lady is present. After that second incident I made up my mind never to go there again.

We went to Saffron with a Groupon. We got there at 7:30 on a Saturday and there were apparently only two waiters working the restaurant and the banquet hall next door. Other than water, we didn't get service for a half hour. When we did, nearly half the menu was off-limits with the Groupon, no 'specials' which littered the menu, tandori or tikki (the latter wasn't mentioned in the Groupon itself). We finally settled on a cashewnut roll appetizer and three chicken dishes, plus naan (no rice) When they finally came out, nearly an hour after having arrived, the portions were very small and came with rice, which we were charged for (just $2, but still aggravating). After settling the bill and leaving, I had an allergic reaction to shellfish, despite not ordering any. We were very disappointed in Saffron.

Consistency. That is something I appreciate most when I find a restaurant that I like. This hidden gem is in the corner of the Westbrook grocery store parking lot. A place I never would've thought to walk in to, especially since I don't too much care for Westbrook Market... A groupon brought my fiancé and I in. We were new to the area and wanted to try some local places. The first time we ate here we loved it! It was the best Indian food we'd had! Now don't take that lightly, we've been looking for a good Indian restaurant for about a year. And we've tried darn near every one we could find with decent reviews in the 630 and some in the 708 area but none wowed us... and then there was Saffron. It's small seemingly family owned place that owns another shop a couple blocks down but it is more like a cafe with deserts, coffee, and other treats (never been in there). We ordered garlic naan to start and it was delicious, it was hot and fresh. Then I ordered the Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) w/ basmati rice and my fiancé ordered something similar but more spicy, can't remember what it was called but it was also delicious. And they even had Ginger Beer! This is my kinda place. Now I don't want anybody else's Butter Chicken but Saffron's. I crave it so much I've started ordering take out!

I have not found a better place for Indian food yet. Everyone there is very friendly and every time I have gone there it was a good time. I have had trouble finding good Indian food restaurants but this place has been my favorite.
