We have been waiting for weeks for this restaurant to open. Went last night. Waited a few minutes to be seated (not bad for a Friday night) but then the wait began. Got our drinks and placed our order. 10 minutes and soup arrived. After our soup was finished the bus boy came and took our bowls and then tried taking all of our silverware away...we had not eaten yet. 20 minutes later the food arrived. My husband had the fish fry and I had a chicken dish. The fish was served with tater tots that were not warm, the chicken was served with a gravy that was so salty that I could still taste the salt an hour later. This is no replacement for Regina's (that was the last good restaurant at this location). We don't plan on returning to Bootleggers any time in the future.

My family and I were here a few hours ago and did not have a good experience. Although it is their second night being open, there was no excuse for the poor service. It took almost 40 min to get our food, and 20 min to get my cocktail the waitress forgot about. To add insult to injury, my husbsnd ordered a Cajun Ckn Salad, I overhead the waitress tell a women (dressed in black with long black hair) not sure what position she held, that "it's not "cajun chicken". She told the waitress to "see if he wants it". As she was walking away she said "we don't over spice our food so it may not be spicy enough but we can fix it". In knowing it was incorrect it shouldn't have been served. Oh yeah, it came with fries we never saw either. Maybe it's because they're newly opened but there were too many issues for me to try them anytime soon. They'll have to do better to get my business.

I am floored at these bad reviews!? My husband and I went here on a Sunday, their 2nd Sunday they were opened....and really liked it.... clean, good atmosphere, good service... I got the Diamond Wine $6 special, generous glass of wine, and it was so good!! I order a burger and their special fries, my husband got the Sunday special...Turkey Dinner...oh and we also got an appetizer the buffalo wings...everything was good!! We loved it....so a week later we tried it for Carry Out ... my husband got the Pot Roast dinner, and I got the half a slab of ribs dinner...all very good...came with soup or salad...my husband's mash potatoes needed salt...the veggies were amazing! .. The packing for the Carry Out was GREAT! They even included a bag of bread rolls.... I really liked this place..the food is way better than the Village Squire..and it is way cleaner...go ahead, and try it for yourself...give them the benefit of the doubt...learn curves...right people!?

We went for the first time this past Friday night. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go back. I went simple with my meal and had the burger and it was pretty good. One of the things that was great was how attentive the owner/manager? was. Also, it seemed like the wait staff worked together well. I think we will probably be back sometime soon.

We went here yesterday for a nice Mother's Day dinner. ( We Celebrate Mother's Day on Saturday). We looked forward to checking out the new place since we remember the good ole days when it was called #10 Downing Street. There were 8 of us and we had made reservations 10 days prior. We had a 4:00 reservation and stood and waited for someone, anyone, to come and seat us, no one else was in line and no one was at the front area. Very unorganized. Finally, after waiting (around 10 or more minutes), someone noticed us. They did not have our table ready and scattered around wondering where to put us. (Keep in mind there was only one small table of 4 people in the whole restaurant.) We had my 90 year old mom on a walker, my 80 year old father-in-law on a cane and myself who has M.S. on a cane. The older gentleman ( we heard he is the owner or manager) went around and around and finally had them put two tables together, way in the back and up a few stairs. Because of our handicapped people, we asked if we could just take this table ready to seat 8 that was right there next to the door. A lady waitress/hostess????, said she was sure it wasn't a problem and went and asked the older gentleman who turned and looked at us and YELLED, "NO! They can sit up here!" I wanted to leave right there and then but we all already were there. We slowly moved to the back and family helped us up the stairs to the table. The waitress came out and was very bubbly and looked nervous. She gave us menus and asked if we were ready to order. We said no, we haven't looked at the menus. She said "hold on, I have to tell you about our specials". She told us what the specials were and ended up with an "I think". When questioned how much they were she didn't know. She said "Hold on again and went to check." The prices she told me were very high and not a special so I questioned this. She said, hold on, maybe I read them wrong." She came back saying, "I thought it might be $14.95 and read it wrong but I didn't, it's $19.95" after being asked if we were ready to order 3 times within minutes we felt very rushed. My mom ordered the Rueben but can't have fries so I asked if she could switch it to a salad or something else and the waitress said, " not without an upcharge." We waited for awhile for our food and I asked for water. She brought us each water but throughout the meal we had to ask two times for water refills. While refilling one of the waters she spilled it all down my sister-in-laws back and rubbed it in her back saying, "It's just a little water." She proceeded to rub my sister-in-laws back 3 more times every time she came to the table laughing about the incident. Our dinners said bread came with them and we asked where the bread was and she said, " you only get bread if you order the salad but you all ordered the soup...." What??? She then said since it's Mother's Day she will see if she can sneak us some bread. ???????? Two of us ordered our baked potatoes with butter and sour cream on the side and they came with just sour cream. I asked her about the butter and she said, " It's already on it." No..... It wasn't. When we first ordered one of our family members who is big like a football player ordered a turkey burger and she said to him, "I didn't think somebody like you would eat that!" She brought out one tray of food and said she was bringing this out now so it didn't get cold so the rest of us will have to wait. Shortly after that someone brought out the other tray. We felt rushed because they were grabbing everything, even our water when we weren't done. When we went to leave, the place still had a lot of empty tables and..... The table of 8 right by the door was STILL open. Bottom Line... As far as the taste of the food, it was just o.k. My ribeye was cold and had a lot of fat. Vegetables were good. Baked Potato was dry ( no butter, ha.). Soup was good, but only order soup if you don't want the bread! Prices are expensive. Manager or owner was VERY rude and had no concern for the people. Not a people friendly place at all. Bus boy was by far the best employee in the place. He checked on us more than anyone, got us boxes and was friendly. If it were up to me, he should run the place. Don't waste your time on this place unless they get more organiIzed, people friendly and lower their prices. Very disappointed!!!!

Came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon at 2:30PM. It was not crowded and there were only 2 other parties in the building with our party of 2. We ordered the four mac-and-cheese and an order of the pot roast. We waited nearly twenty minutes and were brought our soup that went with our meal. We both ordered the French Onion, which was presented in a small bowl with NO cheese and NO bread. It was kind of cheap considering some of the local restaurants who serve French Onion soup are way better. Finally, we received our meals. The pasta on the mac and cheese was way undercooked on the outside and cooked way too much on the inside. Some parts of this dish were cold and some were hot. It made it seem like it was cooked separately and then put together. The pot roast dish tasted good, however, it was luke warm by the time I received it. I didn't mind the presentation, but it seemed like the onion strings were just thrown on there over the Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes. Our waitress, Julia, was very attentive and kept bringing us refills on our drinks and was quick with her service which was much appreciated. All in all, the music was a little loud for a Prohibition-themed restaurant and even around 2:30PM you had to kind of speak a little loud to talk. It was a good experience and the food was so-so.

Just had a fabulous dinner at Bootleggers. The salmon was to die for and cooked to perfection. The New York strip steak was also prepared perfectly to order. Our server, Debbie, was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! She was attentive, charming and very knowledgeable about the menu, preparation techniques and generally a fun lady to talk with. We're definitely going back when she is working. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. We're locals, and have been needing a good and well-rounded restaurant. I think we finally have it.....very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prices are reasonable and quality of food excellent.

Went in tonight 3/18 at about 5:45pm . Was seated right away .. Place is nice looks a lot like the old reginas set up wise . Menu was kinda small .. We waited & waited ... More people were seated .. Waited not one wait staff or manager came to great us or take our drink order . Made eye contact with several servers , our menus closed as a sign we were ready to order and still nothing ! So we got up went to the hostess counter explained to the two teenaged hostess why we were leaving. And they just looked at us no offer to get the manager nothing ... Not sure i will return seeing how this was my 1st visit and the place was not even busy . Can just imagine on a busy night .. Very unsatisfied ... To say the least !!!

Had a few dinners here. They make tasty entrees and and staff was friendly at both visits. It was quiet to sit by the windows. Will be coming back !
(4)Nathan S.
The food was good, nothing special, but still good. The servers try really hard, but the kitchen is the slowest place I've ever been. 45 minutes for 2 burgers. Seriously? Won't be going back.
(2)Carol R.
Despite several bad reviews from Yelp!, my husband and I decided to try it out. We were very pleased. We went on a Sunday at 1 o'clock. Not crowded but enough people you didn't feel awkward. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The server was there in seconds to get drinks. We had viewed the menu before coming so we both knew what we were going to order. I had the Old-fashioned Patty Melt. They allowed me to sub vegetable for fries. My husband got a hamburger and fries. His fries were very good (of course, I had to try one) and were cut in an interesting curl but not like curly fries. The food came in 10-15 minutes. Both meals were very good. Food was hot, nicely plated with good sized portions. The vegetables were very well prepared not mushy or the overly hard el dente. The server was efficient and stopped by to check on food and beverage refills. We'll be back!

Love Bootleggers!! Best burger ever! Their burgers are hand packed fresh-ground chuck on a brioche. Fantastic! You can't get a comparable burger within 15 miles. We are so lucky to have this place nearby. The fries were also fantastic; great drinks and great service.

Went on a Sunday for dinner shortly after they opened. The service was pretty good and so was the food. Prime rib special, a strip steak and a patty melt ordered by our table, some better than others but overall, a nice dinner. I'm very happy to have choice of this caliber in the area, and I hope people give them a chance to work out any kinks they may have in the beginning. We will be back for sure.

Never in the 30 years of my dining experience I never have the most worst experience here at bootleggers. Terrible service, terrible food. The place looked every nice but everything else....no. Will never be back.
(1)Cindy S.
Atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. I had the shroom burger on rye my husband had the fish fry. Nice big pieces of fish and came out quickly when he ordered more. My burger was cooked to perfection. Think we had a relatively new server. She was very nice but was lacking experience. We would definitely go back.

I have had a lot of burgers in my life. I have never had the kind of burger I had at Bootleggers! Their burgers are hand crafted and it shows! We arrived at about 8:00pm. It was pretty empty but it was a Monday night. We were seated right away and given menus. The server came right over and took our drink orders. I looked over the menu and ordered a cheeseburger. After ordering, we were given great tasting wheat and pumpernickel bread and softened butter. Our orders took about 10 minutes to come out. The burger itself was one of the meatiest burger I have ever eaten. The burgers before cooking are 1/2 pound, but when you pick it up it feels like about a pound! It is served on a hearty roll and served with fries. The meal itself was wonderful but the most striking thing was the temperature of the food. We've all had meals at restaurants where the food comes out warm or luke-warm. I had to wait about 3-4 minutes before eating because the food was fresh off the grill. We will be back many times!! Don't miss this new restaurant!
(5)Gregg E.
Delicious food, excellent service, food was hot, wait staff friendly and welcoming. These so called critics on here that spoke badly 1. Did not take into consideration a new restaurant needs to work out a few kinks and gets better. 2. These are the type of people you could neve satisfy NO MATTER what was done for them. Bootleggers doesn't need that negativety!! Come on down EVERYONE, its wonderful to have a nice warm local place to go on a Friday nigh with excellent food t!
(5)Me H.
Awful service. Waited 10 min for a drink. Waited over 40 min for our meal. Soup was cold and sent it back two times. Server didn't come back till the food was served and then asked if we needed anything. Mind you it was a Wednesday night. Wouldn't come back.
(1)Jonathan H.
Good burgers and unique and tasty fries. Good chicken fingers. The four cheese Mac and cheese and pancetta could use a bit more strong cheese flavor. Good 1920s era mixed drinks. Great atmosphere.
(4)joe s.
Terrible service, they should be ashamed.Walked in and waited 6 minutes before greeted or acknowledged by anyone. Finally walked into the dining area where an older man who may have been the owner or a manager? excused that his greeter was "on break". Whaaaat? How about getting a replacement for that time? Then a 5 minute wait for a waitress! Two people who came in after us (Friday about 3PM) also had the same impressions. That's not the worst of it. When I walked in a double table 6 feet from us hadn't been cleaned after the customers left. I had to sit next to this smelly mess through MY WHOLE MEAL! Even more ridiculous, a waitress came by and pushed in achair, totally ignoring the mess right in front of her! Of course, no busboys ever showed up to take care of it in the 45 minutes I was there. Go to Francescas downtown, they're Zagat rated, service is impeccable and prices are virtually the same.

I've been here twice now. First time was on their opening day. I got two burgers for takeout and they were fantastic. Best burgers around in fact. Prices match the quality of food, service, and ambiance. Second time I came in...I brought along several buddies. They all loved it. Wonderful place, great food, and excellent service. For all of you who are giving poor ratings...please give this joint another try. Openings are always difficult and can take a few weeks to get it just right.
(4)Jenny E.
I felt very greasy when I left this place... And I ordered a salad. Maybe the grease is just in the air but regardless food doesn't not seem fresh.
(1)Bill S.
We enjoyed this restaurant. Our party of four was greeted and seated quickly, and the server was top notch. As other reviewers said, the kitchen has problems, but we found it to be fairly average. The food came out quickly enough for us. We did have an undercooked hamburger which we sent back but they apologized and cooked it some more. My wife said her Talapia dinner was excellent. My turkey burger was as expected. The ambience was "Family Dining" and we did not find it to be overly noisy. The menu was good for a bar, but not as good as in dedicated restaurants. I suggest you look at it online if you can before you decide to go or not.
(3)George H.
I went here for lunch today and made sure to tell my waiter I was in a hurry. It certainly was not reflected in his pace. The restaurant had very few tables during lunchtime, so there was no excuse for slow service. In the end, I had to flag down a manager to get my check. But that was a minor complaint compared to the burger. I ordered my burger Medium Rare - what I got was a well done, dry, juiceless hunk of meat on the bun. It was so tough, my jaw was sore by the time I was done eating just half of it.
(1)Dawn G.
Great food! Ordered the Monday special meatloaf and it was amazing! Husband got the pork tenderloin special and for once he was stuffed! Service was great too!
(5)Sarah H.
We have been here twice. You MUST try the reuben egg rolls. Food is good and the service was decent with both visits. No complaints here.
(4)Regina H.
I love the concept, but overall there were small issues that didn't enhance the atmosphere. We went here for lunch on a Saturday, and the place was fairly quiet at around two in the afternoon. We settled in, ordered drinks, and were focused on the menu when the smooth jazz in the dining area was interrupted by the jukebox in the bar. The music, and party scene, in the bar was so loud, that it was hard to carry on a conversation without wondering why people were randomly roaring. Also, did I mention it was only two in the afternoon? The food was good, but not great, and the server, Cassi, was super attentive to our table. I'm sorry Cassi that we interrupted your lunch break, but we were glad to meet you as you are a saving grace to this place! If there had been better separation between bar and restaurant, or if the bar didn't have a pay-to-play jukebox, I think Bootleggers would be a go-to for a quick casual meal with friends.
(3)Dan D.
One star is for the service, which was quick & friendly, and the fries, which were very good. I had the prime rib grinder special, which managed to to be incredibly greasy and utterly flavorless. The fries were very good, but the cole slaw was below the standard I'd expect from a grocery store deli. My wife's sandwich was dry (she said the ham tasted re-warmed) & the lettuce in her salad was dripping wet. I'm all for washing lettuce, but it needs to not leave a puddle of water on the plate. I like my whiskey, but no one bothered to mention or promote the bourbon tasting special, which I probably would have tried. All in all, we were decidedly underwhelmed, and probably won't be back.

I have been excited to try this place since they opened. Finally got a chance to got there earlier last night and honestly...not impressed. First off, the wait was 15 minutes, that's absolutely fine. We headed to the bar. Bartender did not know the actual drink menu. My friend's "supposed" problem. I ordered wine, a generous pour. 30 minutes later, still there, but the drinks were generous and we weren't complaining, 45 minutes after walking in we got seated. Our waitress took our drink orders while we went over the menu. We ordered, I got the steak sandwich and we waited. And waited. Just like before. We waited. You get what I am saying? Food came eventually and my steak sandwich was just no...- chewy "sirloin" and burned bread. Bread so bad I took a picture of it. Why would you serve that? I picked at it for a bit until the waitress asked how things were going...obviously realizing my issue. I showed her it and asked for a new bun. I got one and piled on the rest on the new bun to take home. The peppers, I have to say, were cooked perfectly. Fries were really good. Like a twisty fry or something, hard to explain. Leftovers are still in my fridge, who wants them? I think that the place has so many young and inexperienced staff...and BTW young does not always mean inexperienced and vice versa...but it 100% does in this example. No one honestly knew what they were doing here or what was going on. No order, no organization, nothing - no professionalism. A big mess.
(2)Solitaire L.
They're turning it up a notch ... good idea with the reviews they are getting! Being fairly local, I've been waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting ... and did I mention waiting? for this place to open. When it did, I looked to yelpers for guidance and whoa ... signs were not looking so good. I went anyway. I'll even admit I was a bit jaded, expecting something mediocre at best. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. They seem to have (wisely) shifted into high gear (at least on service). Hint: you can turn it down a tad so you don't come across as insincere. We sat down to two dirty bread plates and I thought "here we go...get ready for a scathing review on yelp." But it turned out to be not so bad. I had a Cobb salad which was good ... not too difficult to do well, though. My companion had a wrap. Other than the fact that the wrap was torn (hey chef dude ... put the ugly side down next time) it was fine. The fries were really good and different...crispy and obviously freshly cooked. I am cautiously optimistic. I would have liked clean bread plates, a little bread on the table or at least with the salad to go on the clean plate they brought, and an un-torn tortilla. I would try it again.

I was looking for a place to have dinner. I drove around and I happen to come across bootleggers. The bar are was small. I'm glad it wasn't full. I found a seat. The bartender took my order right away. I was torn between the pot roast sandwich or their Monday special, which was homemade meatloaf. The bartender convinced me to get the pot roast. I say it was really good. Full of flavor. It remind me sort of pull pork without the BBQ. Enjoy! #SenorFood
(4)Chris M.
Saw the mixed reviews and went in with low expectations to give it a try. Saturday night dinner. Was still disappointed. I ordered the London Broil, which came out more like Salisbury Steak. Both our dinner entrees were what you'd expect from cafeteria food. Nowhere near worth what they charged. Our server was spot on, though. She is what brought this to 2 stars. It would be one star if based solely on the food.
(2)Noelle B.
Friendly staff, awesome ambience and environment. Loved the music and dim lighted bar area. Food came out fairly quick, very hot/fresh, and everything was delicious!! Will definitely be coming back and have already recommended to friends.

First time, yes they just opened two days ago was super excited to try. Wasnt a pleasant experience took my family and our waiter was super nervous. We had two salads and two cups of chicken noodle soup the waiter forgot one of the soups then came back 5 minutes later to ask how our food was my wife said I couldn't tell u I never received mine.strike one. So we ordered the ribs because it was rib night no special on full slab for rib night.strike 2 . Ordered cheesburger and wanted to try the chicken parmesan because the waiter said it was made fresh. The food comes but we are missing a slab of ribs the waiter forgot to put the second slab order in. Strike 3 so we thought. One of the managers brings the slab rib dinner out but the chicken parmesan was burnt and the cheeseburger was like mush.. Would not recommend this place.

My family and I went here on a Thursday night to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was our first visit and it was also rib night. We were greeted and seated right away in the main dining room. There appears to have smaller groupings of tables along the outsides of the restaurant. My family ordered the ribs and I ordered a wrap that had bbq rib meat inside. The guy's dinners came with soup/salads and fresh warm bread. The standard salad for my son was perfect size and basic. My husband's chicken noodle soup was ok, the noodles were a overcooked and beyond done. The broth was good though. The rib dinners came out and both guys thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The fries were outstanding, the size and shape we've never seen before. Tasty too. My wrap was also very good, and the portion was huge. Too much to eat in one sitting. We ended up ordering a dessert, apple pie. It was also good... However if you're into cold pie... Perfect. Otherwise you should request it to be heated up. Our server Jen was on point, very attentive and knew the menu well. She was a highlight to the night out. All the staff is dressed in fun 1920's prohibition/mob attire with fun hats. My family enjoyed the overall experience there, for me it felt too bright. I would've liked it to be a little darker, more ambience. The also play live music on certain nights of the week. When we inquired about the music we were instructed to check out their FB page, as they update that regularly. We live in the area, and will return as their future guests. More items to try out! Enjoy!

Went there for the first time Mother's Day. Bad idea. Had to wait for a table because the kitchen was "backed up". Nice waitress and she tried really hard. Had to send back the breakfast veggie skillet for an uncooked egg, which was taken off the bill by the owner, very begrudgingly. Rest of the food was just not good. Won't go back...ever.

Are you interested in a lack luster restaurant that doesn't care about you or your experience? Then this place is for you! My wife and I stopped for lunch yesterday and explained this was our first time visiting. My wife liked the music and thought it would be a nice place. The environment was a bit humid but hey it just opened for the day. We explained to the waitress that it's our first time and were looking forward to the food. We ordered a Goat Cheese appetizer that was good and both pot roast sandwiches. We had one sent back because the meat was extremely fatty and stringy. Instead of seeing a manager or have a supervisor come out to talk to us they just took one of off the bill. To me it seems it's a Greek restaurant trying to pass off American food. Saganki, calamari and goat cheese appetizers with your typical mix of chicken, fish, meat entrees. We were disappointed in the fact that we told 2 staff it was our first time and saw a manager go to 2 tables with business people eating lunch but we didn't count. We compared the pot roast sandwich to Pilot Pete's in Schaumburg which has a superior sandwich and wait staff.
(2)Tricia M.
Here's the thing. I haven't been back since my first visit, mainly because I don't see the point. We went on a Saturday and there was a wait, typical for a Saturday...no biggie. The hostess, dressed like she was heading to a Halloween party after work in her Party City flapper dress and fishnets, told us there was a 25-30 minute wait. Again, no biggie. I get how serving works, even if there were plenty of tables empty. Maybe they were short staffed, whatever...no biggie. The hostess tells us that it isn't because of a lack of tables but because the kitchen is backed up. She didn't want us to think they were just making us wait. I didn't ask for a reason, she offered this up voluntarily. I thought this was pretty cool. Fine. We will wait. This night there were two hostesses stationed. One of whom never stopped moving, walking around, or talking really loudly about nothing at all. At one point, she made a reference about a table needing something and that she can't do it by herself. She asked the other hostess to help because she was too afraid. The other hostess realizing that people were watching actually tells her "my job is to stay here and make sure people are helped here, so no" it was pretty great. Anyway, we got our table within the time given. Our server was very attentive and offered suggestions. We ordered drinks, which are all themed to the Speakeasy era of the 20's. I ordered a mint julep. Turns out that their interpretation of a mint julep is bourbon on the rocks with a mint garnish. Eh. We then ordered food. I ordered the Mac n Cheese because: 1. It's Mac n Cheese 2. It had a little icon next to it that apparently meant it was a Bootlegger speciality. 3. It had pancetta The description stated this dish would be in a skillet, all melty and delicious. Before I get to the cheese, we also got side salads. These salads came out pretty much as soon as we ordered them. So unless the servers are graduates of Hogwarts, I don't know how a kitchen that is backed up has enough time to prepare side salads in troves. Whatevs. Back to the cheese, it did not come in a skillet. It was also dry. Dry cavatappi. Reason? There were enough burnt bread crumbs on top to soak up a river of cheese and that is what they did. The pancetta was delicious. My husband would like to point out that he had a Buffalo Chix sandwich that didn't have sauce and the menu didn't describe exactly what would be on the sandwich. He also asked for the slaw that was described as being on the sandwich to be off, it was not. However, he would like it noted that he ate it anyway but it was mediocre. Their fries, however, are unique and pretty good. Well, that's that. I figure we may try it again at some point but I have no drive to do so anytime soon.
(2)Christine R.
I have been to Bootleggers several times since they've opened and I continue to be impressed. Their service is excellent, which is why I continue to come back. The menu has something for everyone which is great for my picky family. The stuffed mushrooms and Reuben rolls are my favorite appetizers. Their burgers are hand packed and seasoned perfectly. The sidewinder fries are so unique and delicious. Save room for dessert too, because their homemade death by chocolate is worth every calorie. I'll definitely be back.
(5)Alice U.
I know this just opened but food was not impressive bread was so cold that they must have just taken out of the frig Ordered a glass of wine in bar and it never came before we were seated. They said they would bring to the table. 20 minutes later I still didn't have a drink. Ribs were boiled not BBQ Celery on the hot wings were limp Final complaint water tasted and smelled like Linco (bleach)

My husband & have dined there twice now & give rave reviews! Quality of food, cleanliness & the attentive & knowledgeable service did not disappoint. Just what the neighborhood needed, a friendly, fun & cozy atmosphere. We're going to meet friends there for dinner & the game tonight. Join us!

After the major disappointment of the last restaurant in this location we were cautiously hopeful that Bootleggers would be worth going to. Yelp reviews can be weird for new restaurants. The first week is never their best, people acknowledge that and then proceed to complain. We waited a little so they had time to work the bugs out and we were happy with our experiences there once we went. We've been twice now. Both times we went the waitresses were very attentive. We liked the decor, back to being similar to Regina's that occupied the space several years back, with prohibition era pictures on the walls and light fixtures that resemble drinking glasses. I've had burgers both times, my wife had a steak sandwich once and a Reuben the other time. My burgers were very good. I asked for them done medium, both were cooked properly, were well seasoned and tasty. The Hideout Burger was the better of the two. My wife liked her Reuben very much and she also liked the steak sandwich though she found the meat to be a little tough. Their fries are very good, large and crispy, sort of cross between a curly fry and a steak fry. I will say that the menu is a little bit small considering that they're in the same vein as Emmet's and The Village Squire near by but I'd rather see them start small-ish and do it right. They seem to be off to a good start. I'd recommend stopping in if you're in the mood for a sandwich and a fun atmosphere.

I went there for dinner tonight and my two dinner companions were on at least a 6th or 7th visit. They raved about the food and the service before we got there so I was pumped for something really good. Well we got seated in the bar at 5:45 pm and was at a table by 6:00 pm. We ordered our food, got a basket of bread and our salads by 6:15 then we did not see our waitress or our food until almost 7:05....After finally complaining to another waitress that everyone else who had been seated after us was already eating and we had not seen our waitress in an hour to please find her and send her out. So our waitress finally came out and said she was talking to the cook and asking him to hurry and she should have our food soon, WHAT! the restaurant was not that busy. She finally came with the food and we then asked her if we could please have refills on our drinks since we hadn't seen her in an hour. I had a burger and to be honest I have had better. I had asked for medium well and I got a well done. The only thing accompanying my burger was a piece of lettuce and a sliver of tomato, it was really dry. The fries were good! Hence the two stars! My one friend had got the ribs which she said were good and my other friend got the special which was fish and she said that it was just OK. I don't think I will go back.

My first visit here. I've read some bad and some good reviews about this place so I decided to check it out for myself. Monday evening so we were seated immediately in a fairly empty restaurant. The waitress came quickly to take drink orders. When I said I was interested in a glass of red wine she recommended Diamond Merlot that was on a special for $6 so I ordered that. Then she came back and told me they were out of it, but they had other wines for $8 and $9. As she had recommended the merlot, I think she should have given me one of the others for the same price. I ordered a Black and Blue Burger, as burgers are a speciality, with no bun, no pickle and no fries and instead I asked for some extra lettuce and tomatoes. She said that was fine. And I wanted the burger to be medium. When the burger came it didn't have any blue cheese on it and just one slice of tomato, but a pickle, no bun. When I asked her about the missing chese she said that she would bring me some. It sounded like she was doing me a favor! A Black and Blue burger is supposed to have blue cheese on it!! I also asked for more tomatoes. She came back with the cheese and the tomatoes. The burger was not medium, it was more than well done, very dry and burnt. At most restaurants you get water without asking for it, but not here, we got it after asking. So this was NOT a good experience, I will not go back!
