Great cold sub shop. I LOVE the chewy soft french bread they use here. No choices in other bread options like other places, which is good by me I'd rather have great quality and less choices. Meat and cheeses tasted fresh as ever, and they don't overdo it on the condiments, allowing the meats, cheeses and bread to shine. I had the original and the Godfather. Both excellent they even seemed to fry the salami a bit on the Godfather and it really made it taste that much better. If you live in the area you'd be crazy to give Subway your business over this place!

Great subs, fair prices, fast service, and will continue to come back.

My wife and I ordered sandwiches from here on August 13th. She ordered her usual Italian stallion sub and I ordered the beef and bacon club sub, as well as potato salad. The flavor for everything was great. However I have one complaint for sandwiches that r supposed to be cold they were relatively warm and so was the potato salad.

We brought sub sandwiches home from Leno's for supper after our little road trip. We've eaten here several times before, and I have to say, I really love their sandwiches. Everything is always so fresh. We ate in once, and I doubt I'd do that again. The place is small, so it is more fun to take the sandwiches to go. During the winter, they offer the option to toast the subs, but apparently this is only seasonal. I guess maybe the place gets too hot in the summer. If Waukegan weren't so far away, this would be my "go to" place for sub sandwiches for sure!

A wonderful old Waukegan institution that was bought by the owners of The Peacock a while back. "Seating for 1,000! 17 at a time" Or... They deliver.

Exactly what I'm looking for in a sandwich shop.4 stars because I rarely actually see Jay Leno inside the shop.

I wasn't that keen on Leno's despite the positive reviews I read. I ordered a ham and turkey sandwich that was decent, but nothing spectacular. And the cream of lobster soup was your standard cream of whatever soup you can get at any diner anywhere. I am suspect as to whether it actually contained any lobster, or just lobster juice/cooking water. It tasted more like that imitation Krab they make salad out of. It was a decent meal, and the lady who served it was plenty friendly. Price was decent. The tables were clean-ish. So I don't really have any complaints. It just wasn't very spectacular by any means.

Uh, this place is good, but it's not "perfect rating" good as Yelp suggests. Yes, I'd say it's one of the better sub options in Waukegan. The owners are very friendly. They deliver. Their coleslaw is tasty. However, their bread is tough and tasteless, and their subs are simple and forgettable. It's okay once in a while, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

I ordered online while my in laws were here for a visit and seriously they delivered fast! That can usually cause me to question the quality but every single one of us loved our sandwiches! One of the movers we had a few months ago recommended it and boy it did not disappoint. Online ordering, fast delivery, affordable AND yummy? That's a win in my book.

I recently had a turkey sub, it was excellent. I'm not sure if I can ever go back to Subway...

I have been going to Leno's since I was a little kid. I love the sandwiches there. Whenever I visit the area I can not leave until I have a Turkey or Italian Sub. So Good! The funny part is the sandwich is nothing fancy but the bread and the sauce they use makes it stand out from Subway or other Sandwich spots.

Our company ate here for the first time today. Great service, good prices I loved my crab sub...the only thing stopping me from giving it five stars was that the bread seemed off, hard to bite and chew. I asked around and the rest of my co-workers had the same complaint. Will definitely try again hoping that was a bad/stale bread day!
(4)Lea W.
This place rocks! I work across town and they are willing to deliver. Everything is fresh and the bread is great-hard on the outside, soft and chewy onside. Delicious affordable sandwiches!
(5)Aaron M.
Man whenever I am in the Waukegan area this is a must stop! I have never had anything bad here! Its a true original sub shop thats been in the same area for years! I highly recommend the crab meat sub! its usually a 36inch family dinner night with this amazing sandwhich!!!!

I've become hooked on their hot ham and cheese! Very tasty. This is a classic sub, which like Tony's sub's in Deerfield....has been around doing the "right things" for decades and are not all pre-processed franchised shops like Subway. Leno's uses the Chewy white bread (I believe gonella) which is just superb. I did find it strange though that the tables all have menu's for breakfast on them....and then when you ask them if they serve breakfast, they say no. Strange.

I love, love this cute, little sub shop of ours. I can't complain with my sandwiches everytime I order or even get it delivered. The people here are very nice. The condiments that they add specially the Italian dressing, so good. Most importantly the portion is big for a very reasonable price. One of our close friends brag about Jersey Mikes on Gurnee, I tried theirs but nothing compares to Leno's sandwiches. I'll always get my sub from my very own local sub shop, my Leno's.

I've loved this place forever, and my boyfriend and one of my best friends worked here. Recently they closed and reopened under new management. The place is much cleaner and the food is still the same, but cheaper. The only bad thing is that the whole dill pickles aren't the same kind, but why pick about that? I kind of miss the grungy, caked on smell of years of subs, but I'm just glad they're back.

A small place with service that's a bit rough around the edges but excellent sandwiches. I had the Italian Stallion special, which included the sub, chips and drink for something like $5. A little different from a regular Italian, it lacked mortadella while including pepperoni and ham (sacrilege!). I could've done without the plain ham, but the rest of the meats provided a nice kick while the slightly acidic vinegar & oil washed it down, all on a roll that blessedly did not overwhelm the sandwich. I was given complimentary peppers too, which was nice. My fiancée's corned beef and cream cheese was a new one, but you really can't go wrong on cream cheese and this sandwich delivered. Leno's delivered on everything, in fact, including an incomprehensible Greek cashier and excellent sandwiches.

For my money, Leno's makes the best sub-sandwich. They use fresh ingredients, but what really sets them apart is their bread. I usually go w/ the 'Italian stallion' or their crab-salad sub, but I haven't had anything I don't like.
(5)Kyle T.
I had the Leno Original, which was basically an Italian hoagie, as it was on special that day. This was a great hoagie and came with chips and a drink. They also included some jalapenos in the bag. 3 stars is not a negative review by any means. It was a good sandwich and I would come back for another.
(3)Sara B.
Wonderful deli sandwiches! A bit more pricey than most in the area, but also not a huge chain. Small hole in the wall dive place but look past that and get a sandwich! The pastrami is amazing. The rueban is delicious and really what sandwich isn't yummy. I grew up on this place, and from time to time still go and indulge, but like a kid I still need to split my sandwich with someone else!
(4)Adamo W.
Leno's has saved my life more times than I can remember. This has been the best sandwich place around since I was an embryo. These sandwiches make Subway look like fish food and the prices are proper. There's not much space for eating in, but it's possible so mostly it is known for take out or delivery. One thing however... I wish they would please go back to the Gonella bread. Try the Turkey Cheddar, Pastrami Pepperjack, Hot and Spicy Beef, BBQ beef, Italian Stallion, or Beef Au Jus for starters.

Jesus H Christ, this is LENO'S!!! My father in law used to come here for subs back in the 70's when he first immigrated here from the Philippines. It's still one of his favorites. It's just the same and just as awesome now as it was then. You WILL NOT find a better sandwich shop anywhere near the Chicagoland area, period. And I didn't even find this place until I was dating my future wife and well into my 20's, no nostalgia factor here. Maybe I'm too liberal with my five star ratings, or maybe I only have reviewed the places I really love so far... Either way, if anything gets five, it's goddamn Leno's. My annual xmas present to my self is a three foot leno's sub when I go see my inlaws for xmas. Corned beef and pastrami til death, son!!!

Ive had better like before when i was a kid growing up and ate meat. Now that i don't have that on my mind anymore i cant possible return to the same sub shop and expect the same type of sandwich. Its a good place but not as good as i remember growing up.Yesterday my mom and i went up to Magic Laundry to wash some comforters, and my mom got a cold cut sandwich. The portions of meat are large!Today around 5 pm she picked me up a veggie sub. Taste was slight of ok,It'll do, they still had their famous shredded lettuce and hard bread like always. The sandwich was packed with all types of veggies and was too fat to close up.This is what makes Leno's so stellar especially when it comes to their meat subs! This review cant be long or detailed like the others, ill just say that its an original longtime favorite local joint for a lot of people.I enjoyed my sub but i wouldn't want to eat there everyday.I still choose Quizno's over the rest. so far they've managed to stay on top as far as I'm concerned.
(3)Jason F.
Fantastic! This is a small shop so if you are looking for a private dine in, it's not here. Food is great and people are pleasant. Leno's has been around for a very long time and the food has been consistent the entire time. Highly recommended.
(4)Terra R.
Been going here since I was little. Love it :) great sandwiches and service, inside seating is limited but they do deliver which is nice.
(5)George A.
Fresh subs are hard to get these days, please support local shops like this. The owners are great hosts.
(4)Patrick K.
If you want fresh, home-made subs, better than any chain Quiznos or Subway, then come here! This is just short of amazing. The subs are fresh, the dressing is awesome, and the sandwiches are packed!
(5)Pat P.
Oder the Italian Stallion - it rocks!
(5)Samantha L.
Best subs around for years!! I have been getting subs from here since I was a kid, and my parents have since before me! Best subs around hands down!!
(5)Mike L.
This place has been around for 40 years so they must be doing something right. It is a local sub shop that makes about 50 types of subs in 4 different sizes most of them are good. The only offer coleslaw, potato salad, chips and soups as sides. The first time I tried them 17 years ago I really did not like their subs but recently since they have been under new management their food is really quite good. A good local place that also caters.
(3)Desiree P.
Grew up on Leno's. It's the first sandwich I had that had oil and vinegar in it...I didn't know what that funny taste was growing up...but, I just knew I loved it. Whenever I'm back in town, I always make it a point to stop at my favorite little hole in the wall sandwich joint, Leno's.
(4)Dave G.
subs the way they were meant to be made - good crusty chewy bread with a good selection of meat. The part that really puts Lenos over the top for me is the vinger and oil with a peppers - might just have to go back today and get another sub
(5)Sean B.
My company ordered this in for lunch today. I got the beef club. Definitely better than subway, but it kind of reminded me of Quiznos, If I want a sandwich I would much prefer going to potbelly's, but overall I would give it a 3 out of 5. A little better than average.
(3)Chris P.
Nice local sandwich shop with reasonable prices and tasty subs. Though I usually would get a footlong at Subway, Leno's subs are so full of meat that I fill up on just a 6".
