soooo... i guess by tishawn's measure i'm a racist elderly hillbilly without two dollars to rub together, since i eat at emily's every few months. the main attraction of the place is that they serve a decent breakfast at six a.m.. this suburb of chicago is also home to a production facility, where i am often contracted to work on saturdays through lunch. i need to be on site at seven, and emily's will pour me coffee and dish me up chilaques, huevos rancheros, or pumpkin pancakes at six am. if it turns out that i AM an old redneck white supremacist without a dime to my name, at least my eyesight was powerful enough to observe that my waitress was black. and the comcast guy eating breakfast in the next booth was black. and the rest of the staff appeared to be hispanic. yeah. tishawn, if you want to keep blazing your trail of honesty and self-congratulation through waukegan, you may need to invest in glasses.

A mediocre pancake house that has great personality and kind staff people. The food i'd give a 3 and the service a 5 but ill stick with a 3 for the overall review. I want to say its the best and that because it's family owned that it makes it all the better but i cant quite say this about Emilies.I will say that they are nice and have great customer service skills.. Short and sweet description of this location would be is that its a hillbilly restaurant . Perhaps you could say that it's for people over 60 to come to for them to fill up on for fast cheap food. Or maybe you could say its a place for white people to come and get away from it all (the other undesired race groups)and still feel as though they're being taken care of and not neglected like they may feel like in other locations around town. What ever the vibe you get just know that it may not be as fancy or colorful as some of the newer places around town but it's a good place to chill if your Old, white, or low on money.. I hate being so honest sometimes.. this could be the reason why im not the most popular person on Yelp ,but at least you know the truth without making the same mistake me and my mom made yesterday. If your one of the three groups i mentioned then i just might have made them all the more richer! Now thats good Yelping if you ask me

Have gone here 2 times and they have both been very pleasant! Food is very good and staff is super nice and sweet. They got part of my order wrong but it was no biggie and they corrected it right away. Would definitely go back again :)

Food was great, ham off the bone benedict. My son had pancakes, they were also great.

I work in this building and never got food here because the ratings weren't great. I was in a bind two days ago with no time to go out and get something else, so I decided to give Emily's a try. I ordered the Chicken and Cheese Pita. It came with a cup of soup (I got the lentil) and your choice of either french fries or fruit (I got the fries). Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! The portions were very large, lentil soup had great flavor, fries were flavorful and a crispy (not soggy at all) and the sandwich was bulging with chicken! I definitely could have made this into two meals. I will definitely grab lunch here again!

A decent place to pick up breakfast, but nothing special.

Potential is the key here. Decor looks old and flatware is odd. Food was ok not great. Service was there but only did the basics. With a good investment of time and energy they could do well. As is I won't be returning.

Great food, great service. I had the fresh strawberry pancakes...delicious!

Emily's reminds me of some of the great little Greek diners we used to frequent in the city. It's by far the best diner in this area. Great egg dishes, fresh squeezed OJ, and the best sausage links you'll ever eat. It's now my ATF!

I loved my breakfast here. Large portions and tasty. I had buttermilk pancakes, sausage links and he had french toast with bacon. This is a great place for Navy families to have breakfast during graduation weekend. The food was great, fast service, and the staff is very friendly. It's located in a strip mall with a decent sized parking lot.

Awesome they have many options for people with dietary restrictions. Service is very good never had a problem.

Food was average. Given this is the second time the juice tasted like some sort of chemical or cleaning agent. Last time it was the orange juice. This time the cranberry juice. I'm certain there is something going on with the type or amount of cleaning agent used on the equipment. I don't recommend the juice.

I requested a smaller omelet. Spinach and sundried tomatoes. It was very good. Until I found a big curly hair. My breakfast was over......

This is our first time here. The Madrid Skillet was fantastic! It had chorizo, jalapeño, eggs, homemade hash browns, and pancakes on the side! All very good. Great service, friendly and clean. I also like the little touches; butter comes on the side, I ordered hot tea and it automatically came with slices of lemon and honey. Just a very good overall experience!

The food was Luke warm. The omelet I had was not cooked all the way threw and meat inside was hard as a rock? The servers/ host were auguring over who would take the table because I over heard them saying someone called in sick... Mean while waiting 10 minutes before someone comes over. Just not a good experience.

I really like family owned breakfast joint, but Emily's is not that good. There is one waitress that does a good job, very nice, attentive, however when she is busy, the service really lacks. The food is Okay but nothing special. I agree with someone who wrote the coffee sucks, so that may tilt my bias. Mediocre, but not horrible.

I love little breakfast spots so I was excited to try this place. We actually went for lunch and I got the chicken salad sandwich melt. The chicken was dry, the croissant old and the waitress didn't give a crap. She didn't check in so I sat there with 3/4 a sandwich in front of me. When I told her I didn't like it she blew me off, not offering anything else and dropped the check on the table without a discount or anything. So disappointing.

I go to Emily's in Zion about once a month to have breakfast with friends that I used to work with, the food and service are excellent Emily's has a nice atmosphere and family Resturant feel. The waitresses are friendly and always come around to fill your coffee.

Working construction in Waukegan and yelped breakfast and it gave me Emily's so we gave it a try. I'm glad we did. I had the Country Fried Steak and eggs and my buddy had 1/2 biscuits and gravy. Both orders looked like they were jumbo sized. I will be going back soon.

This restaurant has good service but the manager was not fit for the service industry. She was rude to her employees and showed little to no respect to others. She made me very uncomfortable. As long as I see her in that restaurant, I will NEVER go back. I hope the owners know that they have a very bad seed in the restaurant. She is a bad person and a horrible human being who should not be in charge. The owners should rethink who is the manager. Or better yet, send her to a class for being tasteful and how to act in public, she needs to know that people should be treated with respect. Others in your restaurant notice.

Went there for lunch and had an egg white omelet. Tons of options for ingredients if you choose to make your own. Omelet, hash browns and pancakes were all good. Not the best I've ever had, but still tasted good. Total cost was $10 which isn't bad at all. Restaurant was petty slow around 12:15, so my food came out in about 10 minutes. Service was also very good.

Came to eat at this place for breakfast as suggested by others. They all talked about how good the food is and how the pancakes are amazing. The pancakes ain't all that, hard to cut. Had to even hold my plate just to cut them.....Steak had no flavor. First and last time here. Yukkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!

The food's ok. And the service good. But the coffee sucks. I go to the one in Sheridan Rd in Beach Park which for some reason is a bit better. In general I recommend it.

Was looking for a Mom & Pop diner to eat. After driving from VA, we were sick of fast food and wanted a home cooked lunch. Our waitress was fantastic! We ordered a side of fried potatoes, the Turkey & Mushroom crepes special, the Gyro with fries and Split Pea soup. It was exactly what we wanted! We got extra gravy for the crepes, which was all it needed! When leaving, we got a large helping of Split Pea soup to take back to the hotel with us. We will be going back tomorrow for lunch! I am so picky, and if you can make me happy like that, you've really done something! Great job, folks! If i ever came back to Illinois, I'd DEFINITELY go out of my way to eat there! :)

Emilys is a good stop for breakfast serving the normal diner fare. Food is mediocre and on par with many other area restaurants for breakfast. The prices are rather on the high side for the area and the food you are getting.

Good place, large menu, fast & friendly service. Nice average food, tasty & prepared the way I requested. We've been meaning to stop in, so we did. 1) we were greeted & seated promptly 2) the waitress came over and took our order giving me extra time to decide. 3) I asked for a special order: cook my eggs dry, 2 percent milk and strawberries and bananas. The food was prepared way I requested and promptly delivered. We were left alone to our conversation, which was a plus. The food tasted good. We were pleased with the experience, nothing special, definitely would go back. looks like pancakes on the other peoples tables were tasty!

Food was average at best but I believe they use powdered eggs because they didnt taste like eggs at all.

Better service when compared to other restaurants of this kind... hot chocolate was perfect and philly chicken was little bit on hard side , I think it can be done much better when compared to other mideterranian restaurants I had in past... staff are good

Now I can't review based on actually sitting down and eating here. BUT we've done breakfast take out a ton of times and its always been good! With...the exception of burning my hash browns to hell once. BUT that was probably my fault because I said I wanted them cooked crispy....which turned out to be like crispy straws of doom. *insert crunching sound...of death* BUT the omelets are good for the cost, and the bf likes the skillets. Pancakes are fluffy and they always throw in enough syrup to drown them in. I like that they have the whipped butter. Prices are pretty reasonable, and foods made quick. Maybe ten minutes for 15 bucks of food? Huge portions.
