Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I really liked this place. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon around noon. It was quiet. Our server was very friendly and checked with us throughout our meal to make sure everything was going well. We ordered the hummus appetizer. It came with some delicious fresh baked flatbread that was the perfect amount of warm and crisp. The hummus was creamy, fresh, and had a very classic taste. It also came with some cucumbers for dipping, which was a nice touch. My boyfriend ordered the garden pizza. It was packed full of flavor and had just the right amount of cheese. I had the spinach and artichoke pizza minus the bacon. I loved the crust-- crispy on the bottom and perfectly fluffy on the top without being "doughy". Next time I would order it a bit lighter on the cheese, but overall was satisfied. If you're passing through town or live nearby, you should give this spot a try!

We just stop by here passing through and we where completely blown away! Everything was amazing the staff was great and quick. I have a very picky pizza liver and he ate the whole thing and took one with us. I am sad we do not have one of these where we live!

Great pizza. Thin crust and real ingredients!! The pizzas aren't too large. It's a unique twist to pizza. Tops other locals!! The environment was pleasant and waitress was friendly.

I would have given it a five star but I personally didn't like the wings that were recommended by the server. They don't toss the wings in sauce rather bring them to you in cups and you decide what sauce you will have on them. On the flip side the pizza was outstanding. Normally wood fired pizza has a very crunchy crust not Embers. The amount of cheese was perfect and the toppings were very fresh. Would eat here again just would skip the wings!

I was fortunate to be passing through town this time last year when I believe Embers opened and wishing I had one near me in SC. Well that hasn't happened yet but I was happy to once again enjoy my wood fired pizza while back in town. Great food & service!

Found this place by accident on a cross-county trip. I was really just looking for a simple place to sit a grab a quick bite but this place exceeded my expectations. Great, simple food with lots of flavor, comfortable environment, and able to make adjustments to food sensitivities if need be. Friendly and helpful status compliment the good food and drinks. I had the grilled Greek salad and the meatball appetizer. The salad was spot on and full of texture, the meatballs were nicely seasoned. I've I wasn't moving west, I'd be back again very soon.

New restaurants in Vandalia are kind of a big deal. It just doesn't happen that often - especially not something like Embers that doesn't fit the typical fast food franchise mold. Although Embers might seem like "just another pizza restaurant", it differs from most local pizza places in that the pizza is wood-fired and the ingredients are of a slightly higher caliber. In addition to standard toppings, you can get stuff like Parmesan cream sauce, truffle oil, fresh basil, and wild mushrooms (among many other toppings I don't remember). The restaurant does serve alcohol, which makes it one of very few places in town which serve alcohol alongside food that isn't purely "bar food". If you're a vegetarian, you'll find a number of satisfactory options, but if you're vegan you're largely out of luck. The only real option for a vegan here would be to get a fairly stripped down salad. It's still better than the iceberg plus shredded carrots salads you'll get at most places, though. They have kalamata olives. The pizza itself was pretty good. A lot of wood fired pizza places tend to overcook it to the point that the crust is little more than a charred cracker, but the crusts here were just a bit floppy and chewy. It's still a thin pizza, but you're not going to cut the roof of your mouth because the crust is too hard. The ambiance is a little weird, given that the decor is very sparse and urban-inspired...yet the restaurant itself is surrounded by interstate and farmland. It feels very hollow and out of place. Service was still a bit off since the restaurant is very new, but I trust that will get better with time. Our salad came out after the pizza, and they took if off the bill - so that's reassuring. We also noticed that a LOT of people stopped by the table to see how things were going. At one point near the end, 3 separate people had come over to ask if we needed refills. By the 3rd person, we weren't quite sure if we should laugh or complain. In all, it's a good addition to the Vandalia food landscape. It's not on par with the wood fired pizza places you'd find in most big cities, but it's not at all what you'd expect in a town like Vandalia.

Definitely recommend!! We were looking for a place off of I-70 and this was extremely convenient. Everything was delicious (Greek salad, hot ham sandwich, margherita pizza). The staff and chef provided excellent customer service!! Good attention to detail. Even loved the restrooms! :)

What a turnaround from my last visit. Service was prompt and friendly staff. Wings are good and margarita pizza was delicious only could use more basil. Glad I gave it another try!

Ember's is amazing! Unlike any other pizza place in the area. The pizza is incredible, along with their awesome wings! There are interesting details about the restaurant if you just ask. Definitely worth a stop if traveling or even if you're a local and wanting to try it.

High end attitude but lacking a little. Unique pizzas and toppings but a little greasy. Salads are good and so is kids menu. Over priced but okay every once in a while for something different.

Stopped on the way past town during vacation. I was tired of the usual fast food hurry up fare and took a chance on this place because other reviews said it was quick. The service was exceptional, the food delivered quick and was delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes wood fire cooked pizza, and if you've never had it, this is a terrific place to try it!

Passed through town here on 7/16/14. Our server Mary was great. Had the Greek salad and sausage and pepper pizza both were amazing. Food came out fast and also had fresh basil too! Crispy wood fired pizza, fresh basil, pizza came out fast, full bar, cute servers and good service..

Great pizza but worst service ever! If it wasn't for the bartender working in the opposite side of the restaurant we wouldn't have been served. There were 2 servers in our area who completely ignored us.

Very good. Bona petite...! On my way home from my annual Springfield Mile Race weekend I usually stop in Taylorville for after race dinner to get me home... The diner we usually stop at has turned disgusting...!!! We decided to grab a pizza to go from somewhere... We wanted to make time so I looked on yelp to find a place in Vandalia... A few miles down the road and closer to home... We decided to take a break and go in here. The place had one car out front and we were worried because of our last stop being so terrible... We walked in to a very nice staff. Very clean place. No one else there but she seated us and recommended the wings with our pizza as an appetizer. We choose the honey mustard and smoke bbq sauces. The wings were very tasty and we thought we could make a meal of these alone... Then our pizza arrived... I have to say the pizza was top notch!!! Everything was fresh. It was hot. The cheese was quality... The waitress was very nice. My girlfriend and I had a great experience at this place... This will be our regular stop from now on.

Originally I came here when it was a new restaurant and I was fairly impressed. I never wrote a review then because I was busy writing a negative review about the Huddle House which is right next to this place. One year later I come back and it's so sad to see how things change from when they are new. The service this time was nowhere near as good as it was the first time. The food wasn't as good either. The Pizzas are still pretty good but this time I felt the crust was a bit weird, like it could have stayed in the oven a bit longer. I ordered a rum and coke and later I just asked for a coke because if my drink is going to taste like just regular coke I may as well get the bigger cup. I'm not going to completely hate on this place, it's not bad at all specially if you are staying at the Holiday inn, but it is disappointing to see how much it has changed, because I was honestly impressed the first time.

Out of state visiting. Great little pizzas. Tried the Meatza, chicken bacon ranch and straight up cheese pizza for the grandkids. Would have given a 5star but didn't because pizza should be available in different sizes. Otherwise wish we could have stayed to eat it as it would have been better fresh out of the oven. Thin crust pizzas get colder faster. Great service, friendly staff. Will come back when in town

Did the lunch menu and wow a lot of food for the money. Love the wood fired pizza and salads were excellent. Grilled chicken salad had a great dressing. Pizza was very nice. Love the wood fired taste
