We have been going there for years will never go back again. The food was always mediocre but we went back as a starved rock tradition. Today they made my husbands "everything but pickle" burger with "everything". When mentioned the man said "it was written down as the works" as if it were our fault that the order was written down incorrectly. Then instead of replacing the bun and condiments he removed only the pickles and not even all of them. An apology would have gone a long way instead they were so cold that my 9 year old commented (as we walked out to dirty looks) "they hate us here now". In the past there were not a lot of options in Utica but now there are and i will gladly spend my money at a place that knows how to treat customers.

Best place to stop after a long hike at Starved Rock! The tenderloin is my greasy guilty pleasure after a lot of exercise!!! Yumm!

The people working here are rude...i have been here 3x, always trying to give them the benefit of the doubt (maybe it's cause it's busy, maybe they are having a bad day, etc.) but they have been rude every time! I have felt extremely rushed and like the people are very annoyed each time. The ice cream is actually good (never got the food) and the atmosphere is super cute but after the service last time (yesterday- June 2015), I will get ice cream somewhere else. They messed up the order (no big deal)- gave my friend and her daughter one cup with 2 scoops instead of 2 cups with 1 scoop each. When my friend explained to her the problem, the lady huffed and gave her a second cup and suggested she split the cup she had into two. Fine- we didn't care or complain- sat outside to eat and the lady comes outside a minute later with another cup with 1 scoop of that ice cream and literally throws it on the table and rolls her eyes while saying, "here, just take it" and walked away before we could even say anything. It was so weird. Like I said, although ice cream is good and it's a cute place, I will definitely bring my business to a different place next time.

The soft serve ice cream you can get at any dairy queen. I got a hot fudge sundae thinking it was old fashioned made with real hand dipped ice cream & the Wench made it with soft serve. How insulting for a country shop that touts "homemade." then she gave me an attitude when I mentioned it with no offer to remake it. My hubby's sundae had store bought brownies. 1 star for poor service & lack of quality.

Horrible customer service from 2 teens behind counter, complete with eye rolling and a bit if hissy fit when I said something about her not washing her hands between money and touching my ice cream cone with bare hands. I would rather her have licked her fingers first. Do these ppl know what is on money? Rule number one in food service, wash your hands!

Went here on a November day with few crowds. Service was friendly and as speedy as I would have expected given there was no line. Menu has good variety for some post-hiking food. I only had the ice cream, which was of good, but not excellent, quality.

So far, I'm a fan. First time checking it out and the service was A-OK. Not many people there maybe a half dozen ish but there really wasn't a 'set' service counter which kinda slowed things down because no one really knew who was in 'line' first. Not a big deal I suppose, little more organization would help. As far as the staff behind the counter goes- friendly as one could expect. It's a little ice cream and fast food place, not Svago or Gibsons lol. Once the line thing was figured out and it was me n the munchkins turn we were helped quickly by very friendly folks. No hassle when the munchkin was shy at handing over the money and it took a minute, they got out ice creams fast and let us know what toppings they had and if we wanted any. In my opinion it was excellent service. Fast, friendly and accommodating, what's not to like. The building was clean inside and out. Couple messy spots but considering how many hikers probably go in and out of there it's very nice. There are some inside seats and what looks to be a larger downstairs area for seating as well as about 6 or so 4 top tables (ice cream parlor style) outside and maybe some more out front but, I didn't look too hard. Plenty of parking spots too. Some on the side and a few in back of the building. Prices are pretty cheap, took pics of what we got and captioned the $$ best deal is probably the Soft Serve which was $2 something for a Medium. Medium is PLENTY for two or maybe even three to share. To me it's a solid 4 star. Mainly because it's convenient to Starved Rock, service was great and the ice cream hit the spot after a day of hiking, climbing and getting dirty. We'll definitely be back next time we go to any of the 3 parks in the local area.

Not impressed. We stopped after a hike at starved rock and were drawn in by the large roadside ice cream cones. The main entrance was closed for repair so we had to use a side door. There was a small area of items for sale, trinkets and such. Wild West kind of things.. I guess being a country shop they are trying to play on that?. The ice cream counter was tiny. And the ice cream massively overpriced. Maybe because we are from Wisconsin and are used to amazing ice cream.. It cost us over $14 for 4 one scoop waffle cones. The ice cream just reached the edge of the cone. The place also serves hot food and had a small dining area adjacent. We will definitely not be back. Ice cream too soft and too costly.
