I heard about this place one night and ran over the next day! Pierogies fresh made then frozen to take home at my convenience! Homemade Dill and Paprika gravy!!! I only picked up a few things...but I will be back! The woman who was behind the counter not only rang me up but gave me tips on how to prepare everything. PS I hear the liver dumplings are outstanding!

Most important to know here is that this is a retail store and not a restaurant. With that said, Josie has produced a fine selection of pierogi, bread dumplings, soups, dinners, and even a small selection of pastries. The quality of the pierogi and dumplings I purchased were pretty good. The meat pierogi could have used a bit more salt or seasoning but overall I was very pleased. The dough is thick enough to keep the filling in but not so think that it adds a lot of doughy taste. Josie takes care of the customers and I had a nice discussion with her. She said business continues to drop year after year because the strong European population continues moving from the area and they don't drive back to buy dumplings. I suggested she find a way to produce and market to the quickly growing Hispanic population but she stated that she has tried unsuccessfully to gain the Hispanic business and they just don't like her style of food. On a personal note I sure hope she stays in business for a while.

Honestly, I have NEVER tasted bread dumplings as good as Josie's. My family has been buying from this store for years...even before it was passed on to Chris. Same recipe, same fresh goodness. I'm Polish...my husband is Czech...and even though I love to cook & bake, I can NEVER match these dumplings...so why bother! Luckily, Casey's Foods in Naperville also carries them, so I don't have to always make a drive to the store. Josie's even ships them to my kids in CA. Seriously, give them a try! You won't be disappointed. (Buy them pre-sliced for easier prep). (& big YES too for their potato dumplings, filled dumplings & pierogis!!) 5 STAR YUMMY!!!

I travel to this store each year at the holidays. These bread dumplings are so far superior to the ONLY brand available in some stores. The pierogi are wonderful, and the soups and gravies are fantastic. This food is a part of my childhood that I hope everybody keeps supporting. Fair prices, wonderful service. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

I came upon some fare from Czech Kitchens at Naperville's Casey's Foods. Specifically - Josie's dumplings, both plain and peach. I had to buy them, having grown up a few blocks from the Czech Kitchens (although they had not come into being at that time). The dumplings were excellent, and I have since returned to Casey's to buy more. What's so great about frozen dumplings. First - these are more like the traditional ones found in Czech restaurants or homes - not the lifeless ones we're used to finding in the frozen section. Czech kitchens presents a quality dough and fruit in its natural form. It's up to you to add butter and brown sugar and Cinnamon - as I do with the fruit ones. You can defrost them first and then heat them on the stove or in the oven while adding whatever you wish to add. A quality frozen product, these dumplings hold together well and form an excellent base for a part of the meal that will leave everyone asking - where did you get these? The only thing that is complicated is how they make something so simple and so damn great! Keep up the good work. I need to venture back to Berwyn and Stickney some weekend.

Love it! 2 packages of Pierogis (each a dozen) and 1 package of knoctwurse sausage (4 count) = $13. Hello! What an amazing price!! The dumplings and Pierogis are made in house - the machines are beautiful. You can watch the ladies in action if you want to. The one wall is walk in freezers/fridges. Plenty to choose from... Meat or potato filled pierogies; fruit filled... I was so excited to buy some and bring my husband treats from my trip. Dumpling loafs, sausages, jarred sauerkraut - all for sale. We mentioned that we were visiting and my parents used to live in town... The lady was so nice and gave us day old kolaky for free. Even the day old pastries are better than the grocery store items. There are chucks of fruit in them ... Not just jelly filling. The dough was flaky but not dry. This is a great little shop if you need your cravings subsided. They lasted on my plane trip home and we gobbled everything down.

For some reason I thought I stumbled upon something new, but then I found out that this place has been here for a number of years. I also found out that everything is homemade on site. I bought some cheese pierogies these were very good, the cheese is not as sweet as the Polish ones, which my husband liked more. I also bought chicken soup and the mushroom potato, also tasty. I have yet to try the sweet bread with raisins, that will be left for morning. But their specialty is the many flavors of dumplings, I will be back to this friendly owner run business to buy some of those. I'm sure I'll be adding that fifth star after I sample some more of the offerings. Very easy street parking right out in front and no meter to feed, another plus.

Great tasting and wide selection of dumplings, there is a see through window where you can see them made fresh! Only for thawing and cooking at your own home.

Just left...actually walked out! RUDE. I opened the frosted-over freezer to look at the slim selections for all of 30-45 seconds at best. Was going to purchase the split pea soup up until a lady walked from the back and said to close the refrigerator door. I explained that I had just opened it to select the soup. She told me I had it opened for several minutes. Not true. She had just emerged from the back. I will not support nor refer to any business who does not respect it's paying customers.
