My husband and I visited on their grand opening and were very happy with the outcome! It was evident that the staff was anxious and excited to get up and running and will do whatever it takes to please their customers. This was definitely the authentic Mexican we have been looking for, for a long time. I had the Carne Asada, and it was one of the best I have had, even compared to a high end Mexican restaurant. My husband had the enchiladas and he was equally satisfied. We also received free chips and great salsa as we waited. We are really hoping Dave's Burritos is here to stay!

Second time here for lunch and like the first the food was just bad, dry and no taste at all. Don't waste your money!!

This place is disgusting. When I was ordering, I noticed the cook in the kitchen taking raw chicken from the sink and placing it on a cutting board. Then helping the lady plate some food without washing his hands. Then i saw the lady start to cut the chicken and do the same thing. No hand washing after touching raw chicken! I will never go back again.

Just an average burrito very little flavor. Place was average for being a little bit more pricey for a burrito. Salsa just wasn't my style either

Dave's offered this frustrated dad a great place to enjoy a daddy/daughter lunch date. Located accross from the Charlestowne Mall (a ghost town where I had hoped to ride the now-defunct merry-go-round) and in the same center as World Market, Dave's offered affordable, fresh and substantial Mexican food. I tried the steak gordita expecting a typical pita bread, but theirs was home-made from masa! The steak was diced and well-seasoned with very little gristle. Their salsa was fresh and zippy (if a little too salty) and the tortilla chips were home-made, cut from small corn tortillas. My daughter ordered a safe cheese quesadilla (half of which I ate!) and chased it down with a Mandarin Jarritos soft drink. I enjoyed chatting with the owner in (my broken) Spanish--nice guy! Can't beat the value. ¡Probecho!

The food was decent however i thought the price was on the high side. I would eat here again but feel there's better options if you're willing to travel some. I also found it strange that they didn't offer free water only bottled.

Just when you think it can't get any worse you walk into Dave's Burrito. Let me say what's good about this place first. Ahhh nothing. Absolutely the worse Mexican food ever...bar none. Not just grease drips from everything, but lard grease. Wife had a flauta. Dry chunk of dry white meat that was ice boxy. No sauce of any kind. I had a combo plate. Chilli relleno. Taco and tamale. I can't put in words How gross the chilli was. Flat grease soaked reheated lump of burnt something. When I told the waitress she said everybody loves them and there made fresh daily. Who are they BS' ing. I learned a lesson. Go to any restaurant at dinner time and no one is eating there...take it as a sign. This place is terrible...I truly can't believe all these glowing reviews. My friend recently went there and besides the lousy food(greasy fatty steak tacos) he told me he got the worse case of the runs he's ever had. Good luck if you eat here....

Awesome authentic Mexican food. Super excited to have a delicious Mexican restaurant on this side of town! I stopped in for take out... Wasn't very busy but a few others came in for take-out too. The staff was very nice and helpful. I got complimentary chips and salsa while I waited. Definitely try the guacamole and salsa has a good kick! I had the chicken flautas YUM! Hope they are here to stay.

Cute little place on the east side. We've been waiting for an authentic Mexican place over there, and I was not disappointed. I had steak tacos and horchata (yum) and we received complimentary chips and salsa. Staff was very nice and accommodating. I will return to try their guacamole and other dishes! Everything looks good and the speed of food preparation was great and quick as well. Very convenient for a quick bite but also has the atmosphere to sit and take your time to enjoy.

This place is spectacular! Really hope it sticks around. There are no good authentic Mexican restaurants on the East end of St. Chuck.

Simple cuisine, authentic food, good prices. The guacamole is unbelievable! Made fresh to order with every order if I could give the guac 6 stars I would!

I have been waiting for a real authentic Mexican place for a while. I work in the area and this is a great lunch spot. Feel free to by pass On The Border and head right over here. Unless you are in need of a margarita. In that case you will have to head elsewhere because I didn't see any liquor around.

The real thing! Great food. Best salsa around. I had the steak tacos mexican style and my wife had the Flautas. We can't wait to go back again. The staff was friendly and the food came out fast.

The food was good and the service was great. The nachos were okay although the nacho cheese was runny and we enjoyed the taco and burrito dinner. The restaurant could use some décor to make it more of a eat-in restaurant but we would go back for carry out.

Their Grand Opening was this week. Finally an authentic casual Mexican joint on the East side of St. Charles. Watch out west siders, Los Burritos and Jalapeño Grill. Extensive menu items include Tampiquena, Enchiladas, Chiles Rellenos, Tortas, Pastor Tacos, Gorditas, Mole Poblano, Sopes and more. We tried the Tampiquena, a Sope and a Pastor Taco. Absolutely what you expect from a true Mexican restaurant, but rarely find. Fresh, full of authentic flavor and prepared right. Order at the counter. Complimentary chips and salsa.

Underwhelming tacos overall. Had the vegetarian and al pastor and was just underseasoned and lacked flavor. Speedy service!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
