I've only been here once for the lunch buffet with a friend. The servers were so friendly, constantly refilling drinks and smiling. the owner was so friendly also, stopping by to make our kids laugh and say hello. The food was great, especially for a buffet. It was being changed out and refilled a lot. We will definitely be back.

I'm an out of towner. We have really good food in Chicago. This was my first visit to Flavor of India here in Springfield and a carry out order. Both dishes were delicious. We were both very happy. I had the Lamb Vindaloo. The lamb was tender and fresh. The sauce was perfect. They ask for a level of spicy from 1-6. I chose 3 and it was just right. I normally can enjoy spicy foods. If you are a self proclaimed wimp with spicy try 1-2. We had an appetizer called onion bhaji. Not far from an onion ring but with lentle flour. Delicious. The other dish was mushroom saag and it was also delicious. Super happy with this. Although I am not an expert on authentic Indian home cooking, I would guess that this restaurant is just this. It's great food. We will certainly go back.

We were visiting from out of town. Vegans in search of a decent meal after too many veggie burgers and hummus. How fortunate that we found this lovely little restaurant tucked away off Wabash. The wait staff were excellent and extremely accommodating, making recommendations and letting us know what could be modified to be served vegan. We had yellow dal, aloo saag, and bindi masala. Everything was excellent. The normally prepared with dairy saag was prepared for us with coconut milk and all the food was fresh, not greasy (my biggest complaint with some Indian), and quite flavorful. We will definitely come back when next we are visiting our omnivore family.

Very good lamb saag and garlic naan, topped with kheer to cool down for closers. All was served promptly and was very tasty. I will return here for sure.

Update: I am now going from 4 stars to 5. We have dinner here. They don't provide buffet, but do have a fantastic selection. We have not been disappointed by the chicken tikka, tandoori, fried rice, etc. The owner/chef even comes out to make his "rounds" in the dining room to talk with the guests. How often do you get this? Kudos to you!

Ignore the 1-star reviews and look at all the positives. I don't know what happened on those occasions, but the staff was friendly, the place was clean and as someone who loves Indian food, this is one of the best I've been to. The lamb vindaloo, lamb korma and naan were to die for.

Really great food and I got to meet the owner too, he thanked me personally for dining there..pretty cool. Was in town due to a loved one in hospital so it was a good "break" for dinner. I will definitely return on my next trip.

Who knew that Springfield had food like we found at Flavor of India! Grateful for the Yelpers who helped guide us to this gem. Great food , great service, good prices. This place is legit, authentic food. A few miles from downtown , but don't let that stop you! Go, order a variety, enjoy the food and you can thank me later!

Great lunch buffet for a great price. Very good Biryani. I like how they have chicken and goat Biryani. The staff and owner are very friendly. Chicken curry and butter chicken are great. I also love that drinks are free with the buffet.

Very clean and orderly restaurant with quick service. I had been craving Indian food for months and this hit the spot. The butter chicken and vegetable pakora was great! Overall, great price for the lunch buffet (less than $20 for 2) and I'll definitely be back again.

Flavor of India should be named "Taste of Heaven"...it's absolutely delicious! We recently moved from Chicago to Springfield and have eaten at many Indian restaurants, including those on Devon Ave. in Chicago. This family-owned restaurant knocks it out of the park with their Tandoori Salmon, Tikka Masala Chicken and Vegetable Korma! Not only is the food outstanding, the service is fantastic as the mother-daughter team greet you with a friendly smile, and the father/chef visits every table to ensure his food is to everyone's satisfaction. We hope they open a spot in downtown Springfield so we can enjoy them for lunch, too!

Came on Mother's Day and got the buffet. The place was clean and updated. Compared the the other indian restaurant in town the prices are great. The servers were friendly and attentive and I always had a full glass. Even though the buffet is small they have the essentials and everything tasted good. I've had much better naan but it was still ok.

Me and two of my friends went to Springfield for a business purpose and stopped at this restaurant for lunch on our way back. It was about 3.30PM and this was the only INDIAN restaurant open at that time. Ambience looked good and we took our seats and placed the order for chicken biriyani, chicken fried rice and chili chicken. After 10 minutes or so food was served. We were SHOCKED to see the food served. we were confused ! we COULDN'T MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIRIYANI AND FRIED RICE!!! And it tasted horrible...we never had ate such pathetic food in our life...the chilli chicken dish was no where close to a Chinese dish! I wonder if the cook know what chilli chicken means or what it should it taste like! The gravy was not creamy either! The rice was not basmati and the biriyani was FLAVOR LESS..NO SPICES OR HERBS ADDED FOR TASTE!! It had nothing but rice and chilli powder and boneless chicken..the YUCKIEST biriyani we ever had! I wonder if the cook has ever seen a fried rice or even know how fried rice should be made! We DONT RECOMMEND this place..JUST AVOID ..may be it was a bad pick! We regret for going there and wasting our $45! It was bad people...go find better place if you want to eat tasty food!

Amazing food, good prices, and the nicest people. The owner went table-to-table to make sure everyone was happy. Chicken tikka masala and chicken makhani were both excellent. We will go back!

The Chicken Tikka Masala was amazing, the Naan and Riata was fresh and delicious, and topped it off with a sweet cool mango lassi. The server was friendly, prompt, and helpful. I can't wait to go back and try another of their dishes.

Great addition to Springfield. Very generous portions, 3-4 people can eat on 2 entres. I am Indian myself and am always skeptikal of other indian food but it really has been a pleasant surprise. Sick of horeshoes and wraps anyway, give it a try if you havent!

Just had their buffet lunch. Excellent food. I believe it's a family-run restaurant and they are very friendly and the service is good. Also it's a very clean and orderly restaurant.

This is THE best option for Indian cuisine in Springfield. Not only is the food top notch, but the service is amazing. As a regular, the staff is particularly accommodating to unusual requests and items not found on the menu. The lunch buffet is always a very pleasant experience. Try the Goat Curry if it is available, it is delectable. Basically the only thing holding this place back is the decor, which has not been updated since the new owner took over the location and is a bit dated.

I love coming here when I'm in town visiting my parents. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is the best I've had. Be confident in what level of heat you want when you order. The dish we ordered as a milder spice came out as hotter than almost every thing else. However, we told our server and she brought us a fresh one that was amazing. It was mushroom saag and I highly recommend it. We haven't enjoyed the lamb here. I think they have a tendency to overcook it. Otherwise, we love their food. Please keep them busy so they're still around the next time I come for a visit.

I have been twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Dinner was just ok but lunch was pretty bad. Food was cold and lacking flavor. Most of the plates on the buffet were dirty. The dining room was filthy from the carpet to the blinds covered in black dust to the filthy walls made even more obvious by the cleaner areas where pictures had recently been removed. I don't think the place was ever cleaned when they took over from the former restaurant. The bathroom toilets had multi-colored mold growing in them and they had no paper towels or heat dryer to dry your hands after washing them in the restroom. We love Indian food and were looking forward to a second Indian place in town but I can't bring myself to return.

Wow! Absolutely loved the chicken tikka masala and punjabi vegetable curry! Can't wait to go back and try the masala dosa! Wonderful authentic Indian food and friendly, accommodating staff! Loved the pretty decor too!

Best Indian food in Springfield, and very good in general. I had roti, shrimp curry, lamb biryani, and an egg burji. The shrimp curry was tasteless - we told the waitress and they remade the dish immediately, adding the missing masala and curry. The owner came out and checked on everyone in the restaurant and made sure our other dishes were good, which they were. I recommend the lamb biryani and the egg burji. The lamb was tender, flavorful, and appropriately spiced. The egg burji was AMAZING. So simple and so good. Great dishes and great restaurant.
