I have been following Emilio and Rosa around Springfield for years! I am addicted to their burritos and am now addicted to Rosa's sweet chicken! I am so glad to see that they are still going strong and in a fun, cool location! They are super sweet and make it so fun to come in and visit with them! The food is crazy good. So authentic! The chorizo breakfast burrito is just rediculous! Do yourself a favor...go in for breakfast or lunch & help support a family run business!!

My only complaint is that this place isn't open after 2 p.m.. Delicious food and great service. I will make the 80 mile trip to eat here again.

Great food, great people. Not the usual mex restaurant, seems more homemade. Breakfast burrito is awesome, will not be hungry all day. Only thing, no flan.

I started this review in early 2013 and didn't finish posting it. Since then I have enjoyed Emilio's chicken burrito's and breakfast chorizo burrito's a few more times. The garlic in the salsa is right on for my tastes. +++ My new favorite locally owned business to support! FINALLY made it over to try some burrito's Lunch- Chicken burrito was tasty, juicy & of decent proportion, side of homemade chips and salsa for $5.25 or .75. Breakfast - my co workers enjoyed the large chorizo burrito w/egg, potato & cheese. I had a egg sausage sammich that came with potatoes, amer cheese & on white bread. Sammich was $4.25 & burritos $5.25z. Jr size burrito is a buck less & does not offer potato. If you want authentic flavor, this is your place. The homemade salsa is fantastic and available to purchase in 16oz bottles.

Talk about disappointing! We were driving from Chicago to St. Louis on Saturday, and Springfield is the last place with much restaurant selection, so we stopped about 1:20pm for a late lunch. I had scoped out restaurants on the way, and Yanni's was my top pick from the restaurants that Yelp showed to be open at that time, that I figured would be fast, and that looked like a tasty local restaurant. When we pulled up in the parking lot, my wife commented that it looked like they were closed. Sure enough, they were. No sign of anyone. Door locked. Yet the hours on the window (and Yelp and Google) showed that they were supposed to be open. Disappointed, I looked up the route to my second choice, Coney Island. We arrived there about 1:40pm (and they were supposed to close at 2pm). They were also closed, with one employee sitting inside in the dark. We ended up skipping lunch after wasting 30-45 minutes and many miles of driving, thanks to these two restaurants. They may have good food, but if they're not open when they're supposed to be, I have no way of knowing that.

This is great food! The fifties diner feel is great lunch is only 11-2 and seating can fill up fast! While the menu has great food I just order the special and it I have never been disappointed! Do not overlook this tasty treat!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
