The fried chicken is very good as well as the Mac and cheese, dressing, green beans and sweet potatoes. However, this restaurant has serious customer service issues. First, after telling the "manager" Michael (a girl) that my gravy spilled in the bag of my last 2 to go orders, you would think they would give me some gravy the next time I order right? No. Girl Michael was quite rude about the fact that I should have called that in (even though they close at 5 and I ordered at 5) even though there is no return policy or refund policy posted in the restaurant! I had to put some 59 cent gravy on my credit card!!! Then today I go and I try the "baked tilapia" that ish was soooo spicy!!!! Nowhere does it say Spicy Baked Tilapia Then as I eat my food I find fish scales all in my food! I tell girl Michael about the no warning spiciness and the fish scales I get this smug look...Girl Michael says "well it's fish." I'm like ok....naw it's pasta!!!! I know it's fish but even in skin on fish there should be no damn scales if cleaned properly!!! I said ok lesson learned...I wanted to support this black owned business and this is good food but bad service that is not necessarily worth the trouble...#SoDissappointed

First time eating here, I had baked chicken cornbread dressing, greens. The dressing was so mushy like mashed potatoes the greens mostly stems. Oh I also had the peach cobbler terrible!

I love supporting black business....but I will NEVER eat here again. The customer service is the worst. I ordered fried chicken, two sides, and a peach cobbler. The elderly lady (assuming she was the owner) told me fried chicken was a 15 min wait. Seeing as it would be made fresh, I had no problem with the wait. 45 minutes later my order was still not up. I was told that they gave my order away and that she had to make it again. I waited another 15 minutes. She added one piece of chicken for my hour wait. However FORGOT to add my peach cobbler. They never apologized once. The young girl behind the register had the WORST attitude. And the boys working in the back kept staring through the kitchen window trying to get my attention. COMPLETELY out of order. To add insult to injury...the chicken was OVER FRIED AND WAAAAAAY TOO SALTY!! Never again...smh. Soul 2 go to Hell!!!

Food is pretty good for the most part but customer service is shitty as hell. I went there today to get a side of Peach cobbler but this trick going to give me all of the insides of it No crust at all. I asked can I have some crust she said she can't do that. What? I'm paying my money for this and I can't get what I want. Then I asked another girl can I have some crust in it and she said they can't do it because they made it already. That will be my last time going there.

My husband and I frequent this restaurant often and find that the food is consistently good. Our only complaint is that they don't offer enough variety in their selection of meats. Everytime we go they have baked chicken, baked tilapia and fried chicken, but they rarely have smothered chicken which is pretty good. Their sweet potatoes, mac & cheese and corn muffins are delicious, but the peach cobbler isn't that great. That's the only dessert we've eaten. If you'd like to satisfy your craving for soul food, then we'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

Rude customer service and when I spoke to the rude manager she stated that she is just listening to what I told her. Clearly... I'm from a major corporation looking to do food reviews and this place will never be featured!

Not worth it. My buddy and I had 2 dinners. The only good item was the pasta. Everything else was bland and just not very good. For the stated price you get 2 pieces of meat. When we arrived there were only 2 smothered wings left. The counter attendant was going to charge us full price. I told her that we would gladly wait until a new batch is made. Regarding soul food, 2 pieces doesn't mean 2 wings, especially for $10. The fried wings were the small wings that you get at J&I

I visited this restaurant when it first opened and the food was great but after recent visits I have noticed a dramatic recline in service and food. I will not be returning anymore.

Was there on opening day May 2, 2009 - I remember as this is also my daughter's birthday. Soul 2 Go continues to be my #1 place to order-out food. We have had them cater either all or some portion of food for family and church events. We have eaten all the entrees and enjoy the turkey drumsticks and meat loaf. We also love the brownies, peach cobbler and red velvet desserts. Their prices and food portions continue to be quite generous. I must say that we have learned over time to call in orders as opposed to walk-in, especially on the weekend as they are usually quite busy. If you walk-in, you may be waiting 15 - 20 minutes. So, if you are on your way home from work, church or school and do not want to cook - call ahead to Soul 2 Go. I haven't been disappointed and I believe neither will you!

Let's be real, we're talking south suburbs. It's slim pickins for good food for the soul or otherwise. If you're on the go, you're craving some down home treats, and do not feel like doing it yourself Soul to Go is the place. I personally do not like soul food restaurants because I can do the same and I'm a restaurant snob. I admit it. But, the food is good, well prepared, and a guilty pleasure when I claim to be on a diet. My only gripe, by the time I get there, most of my favs are gone, especially the Mac and cheese.

Just left Soul 2 Go. I have been driving past this place for six months and couldn't wait to try it. UNFORTUNATELY I waited at the front of the line for over 10 minutes without as much as a HELLO from the rude server. She looked at us several times and even called out to those with call in orders to step to the register. After no one moved she continued to talk to other employees and fill call in orders. After looking at me square in the eyes and failing to say "hello"or "I'll be with you in just a moment ", my family decided to leave. Its unfortunate because the food looked appetizing, but I will never pay for poor customer service.

First,Let me say that this review is based off of 4 visits to this restaurant. Ok, now where should I begin? Well, this is not a place that I would send anyone too. They skimp on your portions, don't allow you to taste sample's,and lastly I have nevered had anything from here fresh, besides their chicken wings(who by the way don't taste seasoned),but I guess they feel like there is no need for them to have better cause there is no other soul food restaurant near by(boo hoo) so they don't have any competition, but I won't be back. I'll rather go to Rally's.

The food is awesome! I've been going here for months. During heavy periods, the wait is about 15minutes but most times I can just walk up, order, pay and leave. If you are craving soul food, this is the place!

It's sad to see black people keep each other down with negativity. The food here is amazing the staff is down to earth and there always packed. We should be quick to point out the good with in our community rather than throw shade after one bad experience. Call ahead and see what desserts they have the cupcake are AMAZING and the brownies are addictive try it out for yourself! It's always busy on Sundays best the Church crowd by coming early!

This place is a dump! The service was slow and not friendly and the food was way off and not a very good value for the money! I don't like doing bad reviews and would like to say something positive but this place should just be passed over until they get there act together !

I'm sure they may be nice people. But the food is not good at all! All of the food we tried (3 different times) tastes straight from the box!!!! I love to support local business and was anxious to try, however we will not be back!

What poor customer service... I just left this restaurant as a 1st time customer. After raving and salivating over my box of food for 5min in my car directly outside of the restaurant, I pull up a delicious heaping spoon of macaroni and cheese only to find a coiled HAIR!!!!! I was so disgusted and disappointed...but not as disappointed as I became after returning to the restaurant counter with my hairy macaroni only to find unconcerned faces and unapologetic tones regarding this HAIR that was clearly not mine. Not only did they refuse to refund my money, they prevented another customer from trying to refund my money and on top of that had the nerve to offer me another carton of the SAME EXACT FOOD!! After speaking with the manager/owner over the telephone with her "take it or leave it" attitude" I will never patronize this business again. When you see this restaurant, just keep driving!!

Pretty decent soul food pickup joint in the south burbs I've never heard of it before, but my mom had just discovered it so I figured we would give it a try. Rolled over on a Saturday afternoon as it is about a mile away from her place. Parking is pretty tight as they share the space with other establishments. Inside of the place is quite small which is one of the reasons that it is a to go place. They have a lot of good soul food options like baked chicken, bbq turkey legs, cube steak, mac & chees, dressing, yams, and lots of other goodies. I went with the tilapia along with collard greens. The tilapia was ok as the seasoning was a little too much and the greens were decent. Staff was nice and they seem to have loyal patrons as I heard one of conversations between the girls behind the counter and a patron. They have a TV on the wall in one of the corners so you can check out a game while you wait on your food. Think I will shoot for the baked chicken next time
