They aren't the best, but they'll do when you're having gyro withdrawals....

I always crave for gyros meat & this place happened to pop up on my yelp as a recommendation. Great service and friendly employees. I've been on a ketogenic diet for so long and they had no problem with accommodating my meals. ~*Ordered a gyros plate, meat well done. Comes with a side of tziki sauce, (delicious btw) ~*Asked for no pita bread, no fries and instead, a side salad with house dressing. (No charge) The meat was delicious, I'd probably ask for not as well done next time, but the caramelized edges add a lot more flavor, yum. Food was prepared in a timely manner, didn't wait long at all.

Okay. Let me just say this is the worst Gyros spot in Chicago. The Sauce is like bought from a store taste like nothing. Tzatziki sauce is suppose to be tasty that's what makes a gyros sandwich good. Gyros meat all comes from the same places Davonco foods or Kronos. The prices are cool but for the food they need to be more reasonable. I just can't see myself coming here when I'm in Chicago. I'd rather go to Dengeous and have their gyros and they don't even specialize in it. Just sad. Only reason I gave them 2 stars was just because the tables were clean and the staffs cool. If you want gyros go somewhere else not Hubs.

I will never eat from this place again. While in this location I noticed the owner remove a piece of pita bread from the bag, flip it over, then pass it to another guy who looked like a vendor. This guy did the same thing & passed to yet another guy. Then back to the owner who then placed it back into the bag. I said to him are you going to put that back in there to be used? He said it's ok I'm the owner. I said I don't care who you are that is unsanitary. I then canceled my order, requested my money back & have never been back.

This place is full of shit The food is over priced The waitress is racist I will never ever recommend this piece of shit place to no fucking body ever Oh and she wanted me to pay 49cents for some peppers
(1)Kate H.
Busy fast food joint with, at best, par food. The fries are bad - thick cut and frozen with no taste. The rest of the food, sandwiches and gyros, are okay but nothing worth noting. The only thing to recommend is the carrot cake which was fresh and moist.
(2)Matthew N.
Meh. Their hot dogs had a weird taste to them, and I wasn't too happy with the bun they used for their Polish sausage. There are better places in the area.
(2)Lisa B.
Hub's has been a favorite of mine since 1984 when my boyfriend (now husband) introduced me to it. It is always worth the trip!. Our kids also love it. Chicken, gyros, salads, burgers, and sides are always delicious! The food is fresh, generous portions, and reasonable prices. My favorite is the barbecue chicken. It's moist and flavorful. The great service, very clean atmosphere, and high quality food make it a top notch restaurant.
(5)Jithu K.
Best place to get gyro sandwich in Skokie area. I have been going to this restaurant for over ten years and never had a bad experience.
(5)Kat W.
I haven't been here in years, and they still have the best baklava in Skokie! Super delicious food and Pepsi products to drink.
(5)Rob T.
Always delicious food...everything I've gotten here was satisfying..the ribs are finger licking superb.
(4)Joani O.
Excellent ribs, large plentiful salads, and they're known for their gyros, which we think are the best in the area. (Quality ingredients and they give you more food than Dengeo's, at comparable cost.) Actually a very similar menu of Greek - style food...yet the upside of Hub's is that they're open later. Good desserts, too! Prompt, friendly service from a family that's been in business for a while. We remember when they remodeled many years ago and they are just as busy now as they were back then. That's a great sign!
(5)Stan K.
So I did try the ribs and yes like Bill said they are good. Very tender meat and they were cooked right! I went back in again and Bill the owner saw me back again for the 3rd time in just a 2 week span and he bought me a CAR!!! Ok ok ok so maybe I'm telling a fib, but he did buy me LUNCH that day. Since then my family and I have tried more food.. Yeah we all love to eat. So this place not only has good food but it has people in it that really give two shits about cooking food that makes people full and happy. I must say the food would not be as good to my belly and soul if ^@%holes were selling it!! Keepin It Real Baby.
(5)Sari Z.
Best tuna salad sandwich! I get the tuna on white toast so often they know it's me calling to order. Very clean place with friendly staff and amazing food! The quality of food is the best and the portion sizes are perfect! I always come hungry and leave full!
(5)Vu N.
Itz good
(3)Jeff O.
My go to spot when people from out of town want to eat. I always get the gyro plate with pita
(5)D J.
This place is so awesome every time we have come here the staff members are so polite and food is always amazing. I would definitely recommend this place for dining the exotic salad is absolutely delicious..
(5)Hannah H.
About a 3.5: I always get their Gyros Plate, extra well-done, which comes with a big buttered pita bread, thick steak fries, tomatoes, onions, and their chunky tzatziki sauce. I always ask for extra sauce because I'm such a sauce person. I also ask for extra onions, and they give it to you in a small french fry bag - whoo hoo! Their gyro meat is pretty good, although I would like consistency in the thickness and how they cook it. Service is always great, especially the guy in there. Plenty of seats in here, but parking can be a pain with their little lot. +Gyros Plate +family-owned +small lot
(4)Nick R.
Always consistent Chicago area landmark. The gyros is tasty and the chicken is delicious any way you get it. The burgers are surprisingly delicious. The vibe is bit quiet and could use some music. The service isn't the friendliest but good enough to get the job done.
(4)T C.
Awesome place to eat.. They serve just abt EVERYTHING! Clean place and nice staff. Ill be back on a regular.. Hard to find good places like this.. We had the "exotic salad with grill pineapples and chicken" and 10 piece wings-- enough to feed 4 ppl...i couldnt believe how much food this place gives you!!
(4)Alvina C.
Yum, Yum, and more Yum!!! This place has been around forever----Service is always friendly and the food is always on point---love the gyros and the grecian style chicken. They're open later than a lot of other food places in the area--so double awesome there!!! I just went there the other night with a friend and about 10 minutes before closing, a family came in after what appeared to be a long night at the animal hospital next door, there food arrived and the owner said to them, no rush, we won't kick you out----we still have to clean anyways----I thought that was uber nice for them to say to the family. They do have a large menu---which means just like anywhere else there will be some hits and misses---here are the hits: -Gyros -Ribs -Grecian Chicken Not a big fan of the run of the mill kinds of stuff---burgers, fries, etc---but that's probably cause that's not what I go there to eat specifically....
(4)Amy K.
A classy friendly place for just you or a family. it is literally the best food in the world amazing fries and you just stop eating the juicy chicken and tender ribs.
(5)Dean K.
Had not been here in long time. Got the steak sandwich and it was great. Should have had gyros. Need a combo plate for those that do not go there often.
(4)Caitlin B.
Avoid. I was going to go to Dengeo's, but decided to give Hub's a try, considering the similar menu, prices, and good yelp reviews. This was my mistake- go to Dengeo's instead! The service here is curt to say the least. If you haven't been here before, look at the menu online first and BE READY to order, or you'll get awkward stares, suggestions, and promptings from the people at the counter. Italian beef got poor reviews from the bf, and saganaki sticks ere essentially mozzarella sticks. My gryo wasn't very good- the meat wasn't browned at all, and the tzatziki was full of limp cucumbers and wasn't very flavorful. Fries were generic- slightly crispy and unsalted. Save yourself the unpleasant service and mediocre food, and drive down to Dengeo's on Main St.

Some lateish nights, we don't want to spend a lot of money and want a quick cheap meal relatively close to us... and we used to resort to McD's drive thru... We were so stupid... McDonald's is actually a really bad deal. You can pay like $8 for processed cardboard. OR you can come to Hub's for fresher, better quality food for the same price. We have only gotten 2 things here so far, the Greek plate and the burger+fries combo. Both are filling and cheap and come quickly. This seems random, but my favorite part of the greek plate is the peas... I don't know what's in them, but SO GOOD. The tzatziki is an extra 50 cents with the plate but I gotta have it with the gyro meat. For a quick and cheap meal, from now I think I'll rotate between here, Pita Inn, and Poochie's... funny how they are so close to each other. Oh suburbs, gotta love ya. There is a $10 minimum for card but they are mostly nice enough to let it slide if you're close enough in the range.
(4)Lorenzo T.
Loved the gyros, really yummy, but the fries are pretty substandard. Old oil, tasteless and could be so much better.
(4)Doug R.
I think this place is just OK. I've gone here many times over the years, but back when Grecian Kitchen was actually good, I used to go there. Since I discovered Dengeos about 5 min away, I've yet to go back to Hub's and see no reason to anymore.
(2)AJ M.
Heard this place has a lot of history and wanted to try this place. Inside its still got this vintage look that brings you back to the 80s which I love. But don't expect 80s prices food here is not cheap compared to its local competition, but if this place has been here for this long it must be good right? I got a chicken breast dinner it came out to 9$ no drink. The Greek potatoes were good but the chicken was dry and not seasoned at all. They give about a teaspoon cup of coleslaw :( overall for $9 I expect a bit more quality and quantity wise. If u want the same type of food around same price go to dengeos for better quality. If u want a better deal and great flavors just go to pita inn!
(3)Allen A.
Great spot in Skokie. I usually get a gyros, ribs, tuna or chicken salad sandwich. Delicious. Great service. A must try if you're in the area.
(5)Kelly M.
Hubs gyros hands down the best gyros out there! Such great fresh food! Literally everything tastes fresh and isn't overly seasoned and oily.... Which I love, because you actually enjoy the flavor!
(5)Mark B.
Great service , strong hospitality and a very clean establishment . Chicago style hot was very weak , but home made chips were Excellent . Nice joint , give it a shot
(4)Alain G.
The food is always excellent! This is not a linen tablecloth restaurant but a clean dinner. Orders are always ready for pick up in ten minutes. The ribs. BBQ , the chicken, Greek potato perfect.
(5)Marcee W.
I love a fast food place with a good salad. Try the chicken salad made with fresh salad greens and a generous, juicy chicken breast. Love their 1000 Island dressing and enjoy the option of pita or french bread. They were testing a new menu item when we were there -- homemade potato chips -- that were delicious! Hubs is always a good choice in my book!
(4)Mike B.
The American Burger at Hub's is delicious. Cooked to order and always full of flavor. Whenever I make it home I like to hit up Hub's and get a quick meal.
(4)Jackie J.
A few weeks ago my co-workers and I ordered lunch from Hubs. We are right down the street so it usually does not take long. We were all planning on going to lunch at 1pm, so I placed the order online at noon. Around 1:10 I called over to see where the food was. The lady who answered the phone told me the deliveries were all sent out and she was going to check on mine and call me back. I waited ten minutes and she never called back so I called again. To make a long story short she said the order never came through then put me on hold. The manager answered the phone doesn't even say hello just starts saying "yeah there was a glitch on the computer the order never came through." To be quite honest I thought he thought I was his employee because really who answers the phone and talks to customers that way? He asked what my order was and I told him then he said alright we'll get it to you as soon as we can. I asked him if we could get some sort of discount because we have been waiting so long, and that just opened a whole can of worms. He actually started yelling at me telling me he doesn't even have to deliver my food and why would he give us a discount it was a computer error. I told him I understand that it was a computer error and yes computer errors happen but we have been waitinf for an hour and an half at this point and who knows how much longer by the time this order is put in and sent here. Never once taking any responsibility or even apologizing. One of my male co-workers called to talk to him as well thinking he would be nicer because he was a guy, but the manager was just as rude yelling at my co-worker and actually hung up the phone on him. When the food came it was cold and soggy. He threw in some free small sodas and some cake which tasted like it was frozen and thawed a few times. Everyone in the office threw out their Hubs menu and decided we will NEVER order from there again. After telling my story to some other people who did not order with us they said they have gotten really terrible service from Hubs in the past. Your food is not good enough for your service to be so bad. On the bright side the delivery boy was very nice and apologetic.

At first, you may be skeptical about the potential of food quality from a fast, casual, neighborhood family joint, but once you pick up your tray loaded with delicious Greek classics and/or good old American standbys, your skepticism will fade. Hub's is damn good! The biggest and most pleasant surprise were the ribs. It's easy to mess up ribs, but that is not an issue here. They are fall off the bone delicious with great seasoning. Best part is that they are dry rub style, but each table has a bottle of Hub's own BBQ sauce that you can drench them in, if you wish. Something for everyone! Chicken is very flavorful and is available as a combo with the ribs and enough food for about 15 people, including garlic bread, which is such a great bonus. Can't argue with huge portions! Love those Greek potatoes, too. The gyro is some of the best that I have ever had. Moist, flavorful, lamb-y goodness. And really good tzatziki. Combine all of this with friendly staff and a relaxed vibe, and you have a shining example of a classic neighborhood restaurant. I will be back!! (Bonus points for their seemingly forever-standing status as sponsor of little league baseball!)
(5)Alec C.
Old school Greek place. As a kid I'd come here with the family for the ribs, the gyros, and the chicken. It's casual, quick, and I have fond memories. For those not in the know, SNL's "like da juice" is based on Hubs. And after decades of coming in, Da Juice Is Still Good. The bbq sauce is tangy and can be used both on the ribs and the Greek style chicken. They have a good assortment of the casual staples: burgers and fries, steak sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwiches, etc and it's easy to get in, get your food, and get out. One of my favorite items though is the garlic bread. It's delicious but also pretty multipurpose; you can order it for your steak sandwich, as a side for ribs, a side for your burger, or your chicken. Recommendations: Whole chicken Ribs Gyros Cheeseburger
(5)Genie Z.
Horrible! People told me not to go to this location because a lot of people got food poisoning ! I usually go to the chicago location! A lot better! I tried this location 2 months ago and ordered the chicken salad and a slice of German cake. I ended up getting food poisoning and couldn't eat for a week! HUBS IN CHICAGO LOCATION 100% GUARANTEED!
(1)Gerald S.
Excellent gyros. Love the sauce. (We ususally get extra.) We prefer these to Denegos' gyros. The baklava is also usually excellent -- though occasionally has soggy filo leaves.
(4)Robert S.
I have eating at Hubs for almost 40 years. The food is great and so are the people there. The Ribs and chicken are the best. You must eat there.
(5)Will B.
Great food. Decent delivery.
(3)Angela C.
Delicious gyros with a pile of tomatoes and onions, chunky tzaziki sauce, and a warm pita. The beef shish-kabob sandwich was mediocre because the beef was tough. The service was quick and the restaurant interior is nice. Unfortunately the parking lot is small, but you can make do with street parking.
(4)Alford L.
Meh. Got the chili and a Hot dog. Mediocre on both items.
(2)George A.
HUBS HUBS HUBS. I've been going to Hubs for years and this review is long overdue. This is the spot if you live in the near north burbs, city, or anywhere close. Here's how it works...you walk in, up to the order counter, and are greeted by a smiling staff. They offer an impressive menu that includes all of the good stuff like burgers, ribs, chicken, salads, soups, etc. But since the owners are Greek they also offer some killer Greek classics like gyros, Grecian style chicken, pastitsio, and dolmathes. Anyway...you order, they craft up the goodies, you pick your order up from the counter, and then its party time. Side note - the restaurant is roomy with plenty of seating area. Ok, so a few noteworthy items: The gyros - seasoned to perfection, juicy, and served on a super fluffy pita with fresh cut tomato slices, onions, and homemade tzatziki. I'm a gyros nut and have had many a gyros in my time, and Hubs just kills it. The ribs - tender, juicy, and fall off the bone. Not soaked in BBQ sauce or dried up. And DA chicken - I can't describe this you, you just have to try it. Its all the way delicious. I don't give out 5 stars often, but this place is a treat. All the sauces are homemade, the food is consistently good, and the service is friendly. HUBS IT UP!
(5)Adam K.
They have not changed much in the last 20 years. In fact, the only thing I think they have changed is they tore down a wall separating the dining area into two. Never understood why the had that. And they upgraded the lighting, added a few flat screen TV's & that is really it. Same sign, same specials, same "DO NOT BACK INTO FENCE" sign in parking lot. And that is comforting, I am not alone in this sentiment. When I go here to pick up dinner, I always see older men, alone, eating a plate of ribs, potatoes & other comfort foods. In my mind, they have been coming here for years like me, their kids grew up and moved out, their wives left them for more attractive day laborers and now they get to eat at hubs, watching the Blackhawks on the hidden secret TV above the door to the bathroom. This may sound sad to you, but it is heaven to me. I usually pick up: Whole Greek Chicken: Really wonderful, every time I get this it is moist and succulent. The skin is always nicely cooked and it comes with a little lemon and olive oil to put on after. Love. Comes with potatoes, cole slaw & garlic bread. Greek beans: They give you a pound, but I recommend getting 2 lbs cuz this stuff is great. Interestingly not on their menu. Spinach Pie: This is prob my fav item. I love this thing. Pastry dough, gooey cheese, butter & spinach. Let's call it a meal, throw in some veggies, olives and lemon. Love. Greek Salad: Feta, Anchovies & Olives are wonderful. There are many other things to get here, and I have probably gotten them all, but when I am visiting my family in the burbs I like to swing through here and treat them for dinner, for under $30 you can feed 4 people. Nice.
(4)Jake W.
When it comes to skirt steak sandwiches, Hubs can not be beat. It is delicious, and the portions for the price, including the toasted garlic bread and fries, with their homemade BBQ sauce is amazing, go here for an amazing meal
(5)Avi H.
Loving this place for 30 years!
(5)Les O.
You like a da juice? Yes but not when they charge u 49 cents for extra juice. Just ok. After 5 years was hoping for the gyros of old. Shake was good. Salad very large. Fries and gyros disappointing.
(3)Becky N.
First time giving 5 stars to a fast food place, but this place was so darn good I went back twice in one day. Hubby was away, wife will play (I mean eat, I mean really eat). I had buffalo wings with fries for lunch and catfish for dinner. So darn good. They even gave me some rice pudding because I was stalking their restaurant all day. So good. I mean really good. This place is great and I am so glad they are in the neighborhood. Thanks Hub's
(5)M.C. R.
If you live in Evanston or Skokie you probably already know about this place, they are great! Ordered from them a few nights ago and I was blown away! Not only did my food arrive quickly (the delivery guy was very polite too) it was awesome! I had the gyro platter, it was actually too much to finish at one time, and the price was just right. I am looking forward to trying other things off their menu very soon. Hub's now has a new loyal customer, also long as the fries are excellent, and they were.
(4)Shelby G.
We prefer this place over Dengeos. The gyro plate portions are very well worth the money. Never had a problem with the people that work there. Good food.
(4)Jonathan C.
You like a de Juice?? (FYI likejuice.ytmnd.com ) Other than old SNL skits, this place has more meaning to me. It reminds me of my Bar Mitzvah. Nope, I did not get my Bar Mitzvah party here.... my temple was just east of here. So that meant whenever I had Sunday classes with Bar Mitzvah prep I had my parents bring food from there for me. Nothing was Kosher, but it was all so damn tasty.
(4)Matt R.
Fast food restaurants don't usually ask how you want your meat on a hamburger. Hubs does. They also use noticably higher quality meat and generous portion sizes. Fresh pickles, etc. You're paying for a higher quality eat at this place. They also have a really hot cashier or something when I went the day before. All in all, it seems like a very worthwhile place to go to for an american burger (though more expensive than bk or mcdonalds of course).
(5)Dancing T.
Great food. Been going here since I was a kid.
(4)Tom R.
I probably didn't get the correct food here, but after my 2nd time at Hub's I don't know that I would ever make it a point to go back. I know the place is known for it's gyros, and I haven't had them, but the burgers are not what you come here for... especially if you like cheddar cheese on them. All I ordered this past time was a cheese burger. Normally I'm an american cheese type of guy, but for some reason I had a taste for some good cheddar cheese, Merkt's was on my mind. Well I think I set the bar in my mind way too high. After ordering the burger I hit up Yelp while waiting and immediately regretted my decision to order cheddar cheese after reading that it was just going to be melted nacho cheese... That review was from a while ago so I was optimistic that the cheese had changed since then, but I was wrong. I didn't realize when ordering and the guy taking my order said "the cheddar is melted is that ok?" that meant that it has been sitting in a warmer all day and will be scooped out with a big spoon and dripped over your burger... Had I known that I would have gone to trusty american. So do yourself a favor and if you really need to get a burger here, even though, cheese aside, it wasn't very good, just don't get cheddar cheese. I mean if you want a nacho burger, then by all means go for it, but just know what you're getting yourself into... it's not as good as one would assume from hearing the words "nacho burger". Also, for some reason it seemed to take quite a long time to get food for 2 people when the restaurant was almost empty...
(2)Adam R.
I was in Skokie. I needed, not wanted mind you, needed Polish Sausages. So I went to Hub's. Success! While it's possible to find a Vienna Beef hot dog in other parts of the world, it's a lot harder to find a good Polish. Thus, I'm often hungry for them. My dad used to take me here when I was a kid, on the way to softball. It's maintained as a good go-to place that's fairly convenient. While I don't plan on heading here whenever I'm n Chicago, it did the trick.
(4)Marc V.
One of the best Gyros in town for lunch. Picked up two Gyros today, one for myself and one for a friend. The Gyros is always solid here. Perfectly cooked. Not my first time, and never my last time.
(4)Sarah J.
Three words: Greek Village Salad Hub's on Dempster is near my office and we order fairly regularly. It makes my day when I'm told "It's Hub's for lunch today". I order the Greek Village Salad every time. LOVE it, LOVE it, LOVE it! Just so it's clear though, this is not fine dining. It's a step above fast food and good for a quick lunch bite.
(5)Janice r.
Visiting relatives in the area so it was a good opportunity to visit Hubs, we usually go to the Lincoln Avenue store. So disappointed. The Gyros had no taste, might have been pre-sliced and dried out. The greek chicken wasn't tasty, skin not crisp, perhaps my memories of a great place are just memories but definitely not as good as it was in the past...also, way to much salt...been drinking water all night. back to Lincoln Avenue, ( the women behind the counter are not very welcoming either)
(3)Phill C.
Probably my favorite place for gyros. Get the gyros dinner plate and you shall receive a heaping plate of delicious meat. They also have awesome bbq chicken, char-grilled hamburgers, and much more. Haven't been there in a while since I moved, but still my favorite place for gyros. I miss you Hub's.
(4)Daphne L.
New to the area, the husband and I are finding all sorts of wonderful spots, and Hub's gets added to the list. After a long Saturday of errand-running, dog picking-up-ing, and rug-laying, we were looking for a quick, somewhat healthy dinner to take home. Hub's was it! After picking up beer from Binny's (Skokie location has excellent beer selection) we drove past Hub's and circled back to check it out. It was pretty crowded for a Saturday night at 9:00, mostly with families and what looked like long standing regulars. That always makes me feel better about a new place. I ordered the gyro plate which was HUGE and so so good. Not greasy, nor did it taste 2-day old. My husband had the shish kabob which was equally good. The prices couldn't be beat, either. Hub's is a lovely family owned and run place that we'll definitely visit again and again and again.

It's hard not to compare Hub's to Dengeo's, but I must: 1) prices at Hub's are about the same as Dengeo's 2) portions at Hub's are 1/3 smaller than Dengeo's (for example, if you order the chicken breast plate, at Hub's you get one piece of chicken breast, sliced in half (2 pieces). At Dengeo's, you get two full pieces of chicken breast, not sliced in half. 3) refills are done at the cashier counter at Hub's; Dengeo's is self serve 4) no lemons to add into soft drinks at Hub's; Dengeo's is self serve 5) parking lot is 1/5 the size at Hub's than at Dengeo's All things considered, I prefer Dengeo's.

We ordered hot dogs and fries for a quick lunch. Used to frequent here about 20 years go, but not for hot dogs! The 2 stars is for the dogs. The bun was way too big for the Vienna All Beef, even with everything. Plus the bun was very dry and the ends were hard, so they were not steamed. The tomatoes were the ends and too thick. However, the fries were decent, tho just the typical thick frozen variety. Probably only visit this trip!

Love this place food is excellent. You can't go wrong here. The only draw back is I wish they were open later on Friday's.
(5)Judith S.
My friend and I were in the area getting our shopping done and we were starving for some bbq. Found this place on yelp and decided to take a look. The bbq was awesome, the service was great. As you walk in you come face to face with this huge menu. It is over whelming but with the help of the hostess and a few recommendations we picked a bbq sampler and some Grecian fries. The food was so delicious we ordered a plate to go. Would definitely recommend this place.

OK, so I used to live literally 5 mins away and naturally, I've been frequenting this place for years. For a burger / gyro / chicken place, this place is my favorite in the area. It's no secret I love ribs. If I'm getting the grilled kind without the smoke, it's Hubs. It's the fall off the bone kind that I love. They're meaty and very tasty. Short story... as a teenager, I was on a double date and grabbed a quick bite at Hubs. I inhaled a full slab while they all were proper and ate salad. LOL. BBQ sauce all in my face.. HAHA... Hey.. I didn't care at the time cus I was young and dumb.. ok SORRY bout that.. I'm not a gyro expert.. every place pretty much is the same to me so it's all good to me. Outside of the ribs, there are other places that are comparable being Dengeos and Grecian Kitchen. Grecian is also one of my favs and has many good qualities too. *********update********* I forgot to add. Sad to say, Hubs had to lose a star from me. Dined here with my wife. Ordered ribs and sat in an area toward the left side of the cash counter. Wife saw the a staff member in the kitchen drop several rack of ribs and caught them looking around.. dust them off and "appear" to maybe use them??? I severely doubt he tossed all those ribs... booo! That broke my heart since I've loved this place for years...
(2)Chris T.
Caught ME! Went back... This time I had their Gyros plate. Massive! I couldnt believe I got so much meat! It came out so fast! I was shocked! I still am shocked! BURRRRPP!!! AND FULL! Greek Potatoes! O my gosh! This place just does it right in all accounts!
(5)Dan H.
Hubs is an institution to be enjoyed by all. If you live in the area go here. If you do not live in the area go here. Go here and get the gyros, or chicken, or ribs. They're all delicious, I'm a big fan of the gyros with the fries. Dyk? Hubs was the inspiration for a Saturday Night Live skit? (when it didn't suck) Google "you like it da juice"
(5)Lauren P.
this place is OK .... honestly I've been to both locations and for some reason the chicken is drier at this particular location .... it's much juicier at their Lincoln ave location.... the ribs are good also but when my chicken is dry... I get turned off
(3)Lynn L.
Food is consistently good. We eat there quite often.
(4)Ed E.
their food is OK. burgers are good, but their chicken is not good at all. Gyros is like any other typical place since 90% of them just get it from a company. The one thing that makes this place bad is their customer service. I asked for an extra gyros sauce when I went up to get our food. The lady told me it was 50 cents but I told her I only had my card. She told me that there is a $10 minimum for cards and basically said no to my request for an extra sauce. This is all after I spent over $20 for me and my cousin to eat.
(2)Carmen B.
The food is good but not worth dealing with the crappy service. I work with people on a daily basis. They do not know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. It's unfortunate because it's down the street from work and like I said the food is good (but not GREAT). I prefer to take my business elsewhere. The thing is that I've been working in the area for 4 years and I don't recall the service being this bad. Did they undergo a management change in the past year? If they did they need to do it again...
(2)Janet L.
I have been coming to Hubs for over 10 years and every time I go it never disappoints me. I love their soup and greek salad for an appetizer. For the main entree I have rotated between ribs (excellent), gyros (double excellent), and chicken-ka-bob (super yummy). The restaurant is always nice and clean. Also the food always comes out fast and fresh and doesn't taste like "fast-food". Staff is so nice and friendly. Can't wait to continue eating here for many years to come.
(5)Jason P.
This is by far the best gyros in the city of Chicago. They do everything right in terms of a gyro plate. To me, I need my gyro just right from thick, juicy cuts of lamb, thinly sliced fresh onions with some parsley, the tzatiki sauce needs to be of thick and cool consistency, and of course the pita bread must be warm and fluffy. Also, any gyro plate that comes other than thickly cut French fries is a huge blunder. Hubs does it right. As a born and raised Chicagoan, there are two restaurants that I've been born into my family. Lou Malnatis and Hub's. No doubt about it. Tried gyros all the way up north to Greek town and nothing beats it.
(5)D G.
My family and I love this place. Tasty food served up in a clean friendly environment. Hand down the best Vegie Burger outside Chicago. Perfect for kids and families as there is ample seating for large parties. This is solid American food with Greek fusion, try the gyros they're amazing. Not the right place if your looking for the epic crafted Burger, but then again there's no attitude either. Time after time we've had reliable great tasting food with a smile.
(5)G P.
Order the chicken salad on a bun! Great portions!
(4)Rita P.
The gyros here are the best anywhere. Good meat and lots of it in your pita. A lot of times we order an extra pita and make the one gyro a meal for two. The barbecue sauce is also amazing.
(5)Janet K O.
I must say there Greek Chicken & Potatoes were good, The Greek salad was very good. My favorite is NINOS GYROS in Lindenhurst, I will say hubs has good food at a reasonable price
(3)Adam L.
I've been coming here since I was a wee lad (= at least 30 years) and often meet my parents here for a meal (they drive 30 miles, I drive 5; a reasonable compromise). My regular rotation: the 1/4 lb burger and the ribs. The burger is just a good char burger with onion and pickle but really hits the spot for lunch (be sure to get fries and perhaps the garlic bread). The ribs are super tasty and fall off the bone. The parents often get the BBQ chicken, and is awesome. Also, be sure to ask for a few extra containers of their BBQ sauce (so good that you can buy bottles of it) so you can slather to your heart's content. Anyone who has been coming here for as long as I have will enjoy the photos on display taken over the last few decades. They've recently expanded once again so hopefully Hubs will be around for another 30 years.
(5)Leah C.
worst grilled cheese ever... but i know what all you carnivores are saying - what the heck do you expect from a burger/fast food joint? agreed......so that's why i give it 3 stars since my meal can't justify a "true" review. VEGIS - for all your fried vegi needs, head to hub's! they offer fried zucchini, cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers and of course onions [rings] and potatoes [fries] :) otherwise your choices are greek salad (decent) and grilled cheese (2 pieces of white bread with a piece of american cheese barely melted in between). pay about 70 cents extra for them to throw some lettuce and tomato on the side (i foolishly thought they would grill the tomato in the sandwich). MEATOS - my husband always enjoys the patty melts and gyros. they also serve some other greek fare such as moussaka and pastitsio.
(3)Ernie C.
Even though I frequent the Lincoln Avenue location more, I like the Dempster Street location better. Try the 1/2 pound American Burger with cheese, the gyros plate and even their shish-kabob in a pita. Very good food that will never disappoint.
(4)Ralph L.
just no taste at all. Just very blah food. WE have been there 4 times and yesterday we went with 6 people, ordered a grilled cheese and chicken sandwiches and fries and nothing had any taste at all. So why would you go there?
(1)Allen K.
Great Gryros tonight
(5)Andy M.
This place is overpriced and not very tasty. I had a kibob sandwich and there was like three small beef things in ther eand that was it. This place doesn't serve the amount of food they charge on their menu
(1)Lina J.
I luv Hubs!!! What more can I say.
(5)Erin N.
No one seems to have mentioned the chocolate milkshake. AWESOME. Last time I was at Hub's my gyros disappeared so fast off my plate, that I beat my notoriously fast eating girlfriend. I wolfed that mother down in no time at all. If I had a car I'd frequent Hub's. I'd probably also get fat as a consequence. Next time i'm in the 'hood, I plan on hitting up Hub's again for gyros and a chocolate milkshake. Divine.
(4)kristal m.
i love this place. super clean. ive been going here for years
(5)Melissa D.
This is the go to place for gyros when I visit my family in Chicago. I get the gyro with everything, lettuce, tomato, onions, and tzatziki sauce and a side a fries. The gyro meat is tender and juicy and the tzatziki is addicting. Perfect with the fries and veggies filling!
(4)Bonnie L.
My friend from California wouldn't stop raving about Hub's so when he was in town, he made me drive 17 miles away from Greektown and out of the city to this place. The gyro was very good and the portions were jaw-dropping. The meat was nicely seasoned and the pita was toasty and tasty. The leftover meat lasted me for another 2 meals. I don't think I'd go out of my way for Hub's, especially with Greektown right around the corner from me. But if I was in the area and in the mood for something good and quick, I'd definitely swing by.
(3)Kent B.
Hubs has been in business at this location for many years. The restaurant was recently remodeled and is of typical Greek fast food style and quality. The dining room is kept clean and neat. Parking is adequate. Ingress and egress can be challenging while making a left turn. As for the food, there are a lot better choices in the immediate area. Most items are over cooked and dry. An American burger on dark rye bread could be a nice choice, but is always cooked until burnt and dry. This menu item comes with steak fries and cole slaw. For a great burger, try Poochie's across the street. Recently I tried the Gyros plate. For a restaurant with "gyros" in its name it should have been a lot better. The meat was dried-out and rather unpleasant. The onions were very strong and the tomatos hard and tasteless. The Gyros plate comes with fries (frozen, not fresh cut), one pita bread and a small container of cucumber sauce for about $10. The staff never smiles. They don't go out of their way to be unfriendly, but they don't make you feel welcome either. Bottom line The restaurant looks nice, but the food is mediocre and the staff unwelcoming.
(3)Killa K.
I'm surprised Hub's on Dempster only has a 3.5 star rating here on Yelp. That's blasphemy! Well, for me and my family, at least. I've grown up to Hub's food, even going there after making moves from Skokie to Morton Grove. All I need is a full slab of their ribs, which comes with delicious garlic bread and fries, and I'm good to go! The American cheeseburger and skirt steak sandwiches are other favorites throughout my family. I love this place!
(5)Will C.
Yummy and good! No complaints
(4)jay w.
For what this place is and tried to do, it does a flippin awesome job. It's one of those greek-american homemade fastfood type places, comparable to like dengeos, which is just a few blocks away. Hub's is much, much better than dengeos (and cleaner, and Hub's staff is nicer), and I'd even say that next time I'm running to pita inn for a quick meal, I would be just as likely to hit Hub's again. I got the half roasted chicken greek style with greek potatoes, coleslaw, and a couple pickle slices. Hands down the best meal of that variety I've had in Chicago/land. Their tables are really nice, too.
(5)Richard M.
They have some of the best gyros I've ever had. All the food on the menu rocks with good portions and good prices!!
(5)penny S.
Hubs is a very nice clean place love the patio is really nice their food is very good and tasty . Most important is not greasy
(3)EJ L.
Recommend the gyros here. Also the skirt steak sandwich is pretty good.
(4)L T.
OMG! MY FAVORITE FAST FOOD JOINT EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. best hot dogs, chili cheese dogs, bbq ribs, onion rings, fries, gyros.. everything!!! never ever ever been disappointed.
(5)Geovanny N.
I am a sucker for Gyros! And this place has the best I have ever had. I love them so much that I don't even bother looking at the menu anymore. I go in get my gyro plate. Munch on it and leave. It is fast food so there so there is not much to say but if you are in the area and crave a gyro stop in and enjoy. Remember to thank the chef when you leave!
(5)Scott D.
Great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. Always clean and very friendly. I find the charbroiled burgers to be very heavy on the char taste, but they are large. Good selection in their menu. Fries are nothing to brag about. Plenty of parking.
(4)Ali R.
First off I have to say the only thing that is worth getting at Hub's is the gyro plate. Save your money on everything else. The other few things I have tried or my better half have tried are not even eatable. The gyros are amazing everything else...not worth it. The delivery is quick and the drivers are nice. Although expect soggy fries and always ask for extra sauce and pitas. Overall the gyros are yummy and cheap and can be delivered to your door. Anything else you want go somewhere else
(3)Victoria h.
I've been coming to Hub's for about 15 years (more than half of my life). Their burgers are yummy, their gyro platter come with fries, and their portions are very generous. I almost order their Greek Salad just for the feta. They put blocks and blocks of feta in the salad, and I just can't get enough of it. Their service is fast, and you can always call in your order for pick-up. The prices are reasonable and and selection is vast. They have outdoor seating and plenty of parking. I tried their Mousaka and it wasn't very good. I don't know if I just had a bad batch or if they fix it a few times a week and just reheat it. I was told by a Greek friend that mousaka is very time-consuming to make and some restaurants just make a whole bunch a few times a week and reheat it.
(4)Madeleine E.
The food is pretty good. BBQ chicken is worth it. Good Gyros. Nice outdoor seating when the weather is good.
(3)Sly S.
One of my fav. restaurants to visit while in Skokie. They have the BEST ribs around. The BBQ chicken and Gyros plate are huge portions and taste great. Try the Italian beef as well. VERY UNDERRATED imo. Get it dipped with peppers. YUM!
(5)Michael M.
Was visiting Chicago this weekend and stopped at Hubs because they were the only place that we could all agree on. Everything was outstanding and home made. There were six of us. We had chicken and Tuna salad, Chicken Kabob, a big fat half pound hamburger, Gyro meat, hot dog chicken wings, chicken fingers and French fries. Hubs is a must every time we visit Chicago. Bill the owners son and the rest of the staff are always friendly and very accommodating to any special orders or changes in the menu. Wish there was a place like this in Phoenix!!!
(5)Todd C.
Average gyro and quanity. I wouldn't brag about my experience there or go back.
(2)Leah B.
YUM! The barbeque sauce is great, I would eat it on it's own. The tzatziki sauce is awesome too. Pita was great! However, I ordered chicken tenders and only got four tiny tenders. Other than that, the food is great, just don't order chicken tenders!
(4)Jonathan K.
another chicago gyro/rib/beef random combos place. another hit-the-spot kind of food place. nothing wrong with that, just good food.
(4)Renato P.
This is my review of their sister location on Lincoln ave. , they are both consistently good and this one has a little less ambiance (I use the term very lightly). ... I've been eating at Hubs for over 20 years, and have never been disappointed. This place is a glorified fast food joint that has a decent selection of grilled goodies as well. I've eaten more slabs of ribs from hubs than any other place around. They aren't the best in the city or anything, but they are really good and one of the cheapest around. They have a big selection of gourmet burgers , from mushroom and Swiss, to patty melts, to your big ole standard cheeseburger. They have steaks , chops , and kabobs (this place is obviously Greek owned) There is only counter service ,but that suits me just fine. They have Grecian and BBQ half chicken and both are consistently good (probably the better ones I've eaten). They of course have Gyros and really , what else do they need. Everything I have ever eaten here has been at least pretty good .You can get some deli sandwiches , but I've never ordered one. They also have a bunch of dessert choices , but honestly , I am almost always too full for dessert. I rave about this place with the vigor of someone that has been drinking the Hubs koolaid for 2 decades . I will definitely be the old guy sitting in the corner of this place in another 20 years , dusting off a plate of their ribs.
(4)Alisa T.
i've grown up in skokie since i was 12 yr. old, and my family and i use to eat there a lot. everything at hub's is very good. from their ribs to their hamburgers. now i currently live in california, came back for thanksgiving weekend to visit the fam. tonight was my last night here, so i couldnt resist to ordering a half slab of ribs, deeeeeeelicious and surely hit the spot. my tummy is very content. food is great, service is quick and fast and the owner is a nice fella. i recommend this joint to anyone, great family owned business.
(5)Amanda A.
I was craving roasted chicken on my way home one night and went here on a recommendation. I went there knowing what I wanted, but it was nice to see how big their menu actually was. They were very accomodating in substituting out all the of the options of sides and it was a great value. I got the greek style and it was surprising still hot and juicy when I got home. I would definitely go back on another night that I was just too tired to make dinner.
(4)Laura R.
Their BBQ chicken is really good, especially with rice... my boyfriend and I get it at least a couple times a month for a late dinner. The only other thing I've tried is the pastitsio (sp?) which is pretty good too. Prices are pretty reasonable, and they're open til like 11 on weeknights.
(4)Mark P.
Decent fast food. But prefer Pita Inn's (down the street) schwarma to Hub's kabobs.
(2)D J.
This place is so awesome every time we have come here the staff members are so polite and food is always amazing. I would definitely recommend this place for dining the exotic salad is absolutely delicious..
(5)Tian Y.
(4)Lynn L.
Food is consistently good. We eat there quite often.
(1)Heather M.
HUBS IT UP!
(5)Frank H.
They aren't the best, but they'll do when you're having gyro withdrawals....
(3)Alain G.
(4)Adam K.
Nice.

(4)Minhee K.
(5)Sargis N.
(2)NENE W.
(1)Edward M.
(5)Vu N.
Itz good
(3)Hannah H.
(1)Sarah J.
(3)A C.
(3)Helen W.
(2)Steve O.
(5)Frank A.
I get turned off
(3)Ed E.
their food is OK. burgers are good, but their chicken is not good at all.

The food is pretty good. BBQ chicken is worth it. Good Gyros. Nice outdoor seating when the weather is good.

One of my fav. restaurants to visit while in Skokie. They have the BEST ribs around. The BBQ chicken and Gyros plate are huge portions and taste great. Try the Italian beef as well. VERY UNDERRATED imo. Get it dipped with peppers. YUM!

YUM! The barbeque sauce is great, I would eat it on it's own. The tzatziki sauce is awesome too. Pita was great! However, I ordered chicken tenders and only got four tiny tenders. Other than that, the food is great, just don't order chicken tenders!

another chicago gyro/rib/beef random combos place. another hit-the-spot kind of food place. nothing wrong with that, just good food.

Decent fast food. But prefer Pita Inn's (down the street) schwarma to Hub's kabobs.
