Went to Corner Baker this morning....I forgot why I stopped coming to this location but soon remembered the sloppy food, slow service and horrible coffee. Maybe I came too early??I won't make this mistake again. :(

I was in skokie today, and I happened to walk past this place thinking ''Hmm I have never had Corner Bakery before, let's do this!'' I ordered the lemon bar from the desert case, and let me say that bakery display was sexy! I wanted one of everything. I ordered a grilled veggie sandwich, and I was kind of confused after the transaction because the cashier did not provide any direction on what to do next. (This was my first time here hello!) I asked an employee who was on lunch break where to wait for my order. The on break employees were friendlier than the ones behind the counter. I got my order, and I have to say I was not very impressed with my sandwich. It was luke warm. The lemon bar was fantastic! I would go back for that, but only if there were a corner bakery near where I happen to be. I don't think I will ever make a special trip here. Until next time...........

The management said (in this space) that I should contact them because they wanted to rectify the situation (where they CHEATED us on the salads we got from them.) I filled out their form online to be contacted by them. And guess what! NOTHING happened. So that was lip service for Yelp but not a sincere attempt to make good on the food we were cheated out of. (I would give NO stars if that were possible.)

Pretty good food, but too expensive for their ranks. The staff is very friendly and I've been coming here for over 5 years now. That means I've given them quite a bit of my paychecks. I recently stopped coming because a lot of my coworkers have come in to the office saying they got their meal for free and they've only been working with me for a year or so. Every so often I get a free soda, but where's my bone? I thought I was nice. :( Anyway, I stopped coming because it's just too darn expensive and lately they've been taking quite some time to get my orders ready to go.

THUMBS DOWN! The coffee containers were empty even though it was an hour before closing time. The "rich and sophisticated European blend" alternative was watery, lukewarm, and had a sour, cloying taste. I tried to add half and half, but the carafe was empty, so I tried to add milk, but that was also empty. A kid behind the counter gave me half and half when I asked nicely, but not without a scowl. Him, I mean. If I'm going to pay $2 for a small coffee elsewhere in another moment of caffeine-craving, it had better be at least half a notch above Folgers-drip quality. You suck, Corner Bakery.

They treat you well and care about you. I usually go to Panera but when I am at Old Orchard I would definitely pick corner. This is way better than the Panera across the street .

Beats Panera. Yeah I said it, Panera has been on a slippery slope to EH, and Corner Bakery is my new go-to. Been here a couple times, yet to be disappointed. My most recent discovery is the Tomato-Mozzarella Sandwich, so good and perfectly sized. The bread is crisp and fluffy, with just the right amount of oily dressing.

The food can be pleasant and the portion sizes have gotten more generous but their chicken is gross and any time your order something that is supposed to have a semidelicacy on it (ex. artichoke hearts, fresh buffalo mozzarella etc) it is either non existent or not fresh. For example, I ordered the greek salad bc it was supposed to have artichoke hearts and there was literally one piece the size of my thumbnail! And the mozzarella tomato sandwich? The mozarella is clearly not fresh at all. Try a caprese at a true italian place and then taste the cheese on this sandwich. You wont want to come back.

Three stars go to the food, which over the years has maintained the same great taste, appearance and flavor. Value is another issue, steadily the prices have soared and while you expect food court food to be high, damn man, the shit is high. Why the hell do you guys have to charge for sauce? I like having pizza sauce with my pizza rolls, now all of a sudden these cheap asses are charging $.50 cents for a minuscule amount! They also have an charge for additional salad dressing. Thank goodness they haven't removed free fountain drink refills. In recent trips to Pizzaahhh, service has taken a real fall. Ordering is a task, one visit the cashier was talking to her co-worker in their native language, they were talking about different people eating their food. Why do I have to hear your nonsense, get my food! Another time, this cashier had the nerve to ask me to wait while she was checking her cell phone messages! wtf?

used to love going here. i have been to the one in evanston and wilmette but that was several years ago. i went back 6 years later, same food, smaller portions. for the price i paid, definitely not coming back! their coffee is still good though so 2 stars for that.
