Pas Ke Mao and Pad Thai delicious, this is my new favorite place for Thai in the area!

I ordered the Lime Chicken and the Tempura appetizer. Both were excellent. If you don't want the breading, tell them so. The only thing I like better somewhere else is the Spring Rolls. For that I go to Opari Thai. But I order the Crab Rangoon regularly. It's also some of the best I've had.
Yet another Yelp Mobile App find! Tip - BYOB. Tip on top of tip - Yelp mobile check in yields free app! Totally delivering some affordable Thai - for the wife and I with an app and two entrees coming in at $30. On a Friday night, the place was no where near crowded, and was jamming some groovy mellow covers of popular standards. My wife really enjoyed her walnut chicken. I tried the recommended Emerald fave which was good, but I was disappointed to discover the mentioned crab was artificial - yeck! Not a fan. The crab ragoons were decent, I have had worst. For date night, I found the TV with news coverage to be distracting.

The 7.50 lunch special lured me in... but i was not impressed. We ordered the pad thai and chicken green curry. It comes with soup, salad, and a side. I got tom yum soup and crab rangoon with my green curry. First off.. the tom yum chicken was very tasty! It was a little too hot in temperature, but I didnt mind. I notice that they skimped on the chicken a bit, but the flavor of the soup made up for it. Then came the green curry.. In appearance it looked great.. only to find it tasting salty. I thought maybe it was just my palette, so I let my sister try it and she felt the same. I couldnt finish my food. The crab rangoon was pretty soggy too. I tried her pad thai shrimp. Noodles were a bit soggy and why did the shrimp taste fishy in a rotten sense. Definitely..not fresh. Again i thought maybe it was just my palette, but my sister felt the same. Though the food came out fast, the service attentive...I will not be coming back. There are much better options in the area.

The middle aged waitress with the short hair was extremely rude to us today. We are new to thai and asked for recommendations. She was very rude to me , so my husband had to interfere. She just walked away from our table. I wonder what her problem was, maybe she is a racist. We just walked away from the restaurant, didn't even get to try the food because of the rude customer service.

I really like this place. The lunch special is one of the best deals you can ever have. Comes with soup and another appetizer with the main dish for around $8 ...How can you beat that? The Basil chicken is tasty and the workers are very polite.

Very good service. The portion was just enough that I got to breathe in every bite for my Pad see lew. We got the free crab Rangoons with a $20 order as recommended on Yelp. The Thai tea with boba and whipped cream was also amazing within the first few sips then became a bit too sweet for my taste. I would ask for less sugar next time

Blah! Disappointing. The panang was runny (the consistency of water) oily, and flavorless (the taste similar to water). The Lime chicken tasted like breaded and deep fried chicken saturated with a lime pie filling. The Pad See Ewe and BBQ pork fried rice were the only things we could agree that were not offensive to our tastebuds. The chicken satay was dry and the peanut sauce cold and oily. The crab Rangoon were clearly a lame frozen brand that was undercooked and hardly any filling. The gyoza was greasy and slipped out of my fingers when I picked one up. Not sure why other people rate this place well. Could be the void of good Thai restaurants in the area. I'll never get food from this establishment again.

Surprisingly, this place have great food for a very decent price. We were here with our friends, triple date with our spouses and the bill did not break the bank. You can have dinner here easily for under $10 an entree. Keep in mind, the portions are good, but not huge. We felt full after having our appetizers and entree with almost no doggie bag to take home. I would highly recommend getting an appetizer here. Overall, most of the noodle dishes tend to be very saucy. The Lad Nar had so much sauce, I thought it was a soup! It was floating in A LOT Of sauce. In turn, all the flavoring is very rich and definitely they are big on the sugar and salt. I ordered a Penang curry dish which was excellent. My only complaint about that is that the rice portion was too small! So I was still hungry afterwards. I think ordering extra rice cost another $1. I never feel good about having to pay for extra rice if the initial portion was very small to start with (it looked like it was just 2 big spoonful, and did not fill up to my small bowl). Being Asian, I feel like rice is a staple and should be part of the meal. Therefore, again, you should order some apps. I recommend the Maki rolls for $4-5. They were not overly padded with rice so you can really taste the ingredients inside. My husband had the Pad Kee Maw noodles which was sweet and soft. Some place I've been to actually burn their noodles or make it too crispy so this place made it just perfect. They also use a lot of fresh veggies in all of their dishes, and nicely done too as the veggies are not overcooked. Lastly, my tip for them is to have friendlier service. The entire time we were there, the waitress hardly broke out a smile. She looked like she was having a bad day but since the food was good, that was half the battle. The service wasn't rude but it wasn't as welcoming as some of the Thai places I've been to. I would come back again if I'm in the area. Oh, and a check in with Yelp will give you a free offer of a Maki roll ($5 value) of either California or Avocado. Also, we came here on a Saturday and they had a sign for $9.99 all you can eat Pad Thai. We didn't get this one but maybe it's worth a try next time!

I like the free California roll for checking in at Yelp. It was better than expected for a Thai restaurant. I ordered the Emerald noodle special and hubby ordered beef Yakisoba. Both were delicious and filling. There was plenty of seafood in my dish and my dish looked bigger than the Yakisoba. The decor is simple and I love that it is a BYOB place.

Beyond my understanding why on earth we went here. Blah! First, the waitress was terrible, LOOK PEOPLE IN THE EYE WHEN YOU TALK WITH THEM, maybe a little smile would be nice too, you know! Fake it if you have to. The food was westernized Thai, even though I specifically asked for extra spicy and authentic. The Combo appetizer tray was weak at best, the lettuce wraps were ok. I would have given it one star however the owner did come over once, an older Thai woman, who look sincere and asked if we needed anything. I won't be going back there!

I had Kung Pao Chicken, Crab Rangoon, Tom YumKha (came with lunch special), and Asparagus beef roll. The king Lao chicken was pretty good. The crab Rangoon had too little cream inside. It wasn't that good. I didn't like the Tom Yum Kha at all, I felt like drinking tamarind soup. It was bad. Not sure if it would be different if I ordered one entree for that. The Thai Tea freeze was okay. The service was great though. I didn't get her name, but she was nice and friendly. The atmosphere is great.

After eating here three times in one week, I had to write a review. I was looking for a good thai place in my neighborhood, and found Beyond Thai. The menu looked good, so I gave it a go. As far as appetizers go, I've tried the Crab Ragoon as well as the Fried Tofu. Both were great. Every restaurant does Crab Ragoon differently, and at Beyond Thai, it's really light and isn't gobbing with filling. I like that, so I can still have room for my actual meal. I've tried four different items - the Cashew Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai. It's pretty rare to say about any restaurant, but all four were a hit! I especially recommend the Pad Thai. It is delicious!! My friends that accompanied me tried Rama Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken. They loved them all. The portions are great, and you don't really need any appetizers to fill you - but the prices are super reasonable, so it wouldn't hurt. The portion size will definitely leave you feeling stuffed. It's just right. I also like the fact that soft drinks are only $1.50 and not crazily overpriced like other restaurants. Each time I've always gone here with a friend and I'm always surprised that the total is so reasonable. Most entrees are $8 which is super reasonable and will definitely bring me here as a regular when I'm in the mood for thai. I also redeemed my free Maki for checking in on Yelp. It was very good, but the nori was hard to chew. Maybe it was an off day for that.. who knows. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the neighborhood!

BYOB, Rock-solid Thai Food, Warm Atmosphere, and Great Prices! The Pad See Ew, Green Curry, BBQ Pork Pad Thai, Curry Fried Rice, Pork Eggrolls, and Crab Rangoons are all family favorites. We were fortunate enough to live just blocks away from this gem and frequented there often! We got to know the owner a little bit too and she is so incredibly sweet and genuinely concerned about if customers like the food. if you're in the northern burbs and hungry, please check this place out!! You won't regret it!

3 stars at best. Food was mediocre. Fried tofu was tough and not very flavorful, Vietnamese spring rolls were okay, but our entrees were good. Red curry (veg) and ginger shrimp both pretty good. Service was pretty bad. The lady was not attentive and it was hard to even get eye contact when we need something (only one other table so not due to being busy), she seemed frustrated and Even picked up one our personal belongings (a book for my daughter to read while we were there) and just tossed it on a chair without saying anything. Very strange. She warmer up a little before we left ( my daughter has a way to get the through to people) but not much.

Delicious duck curry and crab Rangoon. Presentation was nice, fast service, quiet room, close to our concert at the North Shore Center and an easy 20 minute walk from the train stop.

This place knows customer service. I did have one bad experience, but that may have been with some other owners. But now? Amazing. I ask for extra peppers? Of course! Anything! And the lunch special is an amazing deal. The salad makes me speechless. And I don't like salads. Must try!!

Average at best, do yourself a favor and just drive 20 minutes to Vietnamese town for some real authentic food. We ordered lemongrass salmon, crab Rangoon, tomyum soup, duck curry, regular curry, and an assortment of other dishes. Not sure what the four stars merited, but it was too salty on all the dishes, avoid the lettuce wrap, sauces all tasted the same. If you're Asian or know what authentic means, do not come here. If I took my mother and aunties here, I would never hear the end of it. It's beyond me why you would want to go to Beyond Thai.

I've been here twice now with my family and we love the food here! The food is no doubt super yummy and the amount of food you get is average for a sit-in Thai restaurant. My favorite items are the green curry, pad thai and lime chicken. Appetizers are okay - my favorite was the vegetable spring roll - everything else is just alright. There is definitely a funny smell when you first walk in but you get used to it after a few minutes - nothing to complain about. It's not a super fancy place but casual and good if you're looking for some good Thai food. I haven't had a enough authentic Thai food to know if it's that good but it's definitely good enough for me - and I have a pretty darn high standard for Asian food in general. It's never crowded and there's always parking.

My boyfriend and I always come here for their lunch specials. Staff is nice and attentive and the food is really good. We usually get the Pad see ew, Pad Thai, Panang curry, and Tom Yum soup. This place is definitely a hidden gem!

This is now my favorite Thai restaurant on the North Shore!!! Why? 1. Wonderful Thai food at a great price! 2. It's BYOB!!! (The server even gave us chilled glasses for our beer.) 3. Clean, attractive and cozy space - tablecloths and cloth napkins, too. 4. Great attentive and friendly service 5. They have Thai fortune cookies!!! In thirty years of visiting many Thai restaurants, I have never had Thai fortune cookies - very tasty, too. 6. Free parking in front of the restaurant 7. It's very close to Old Orchard and the Edens. 8. The owner, Amy, is very friendly and listens to customers.

Best thai food in the area, good service. Recommend moo yang thai bbq pork on stick, curry puff, tom yum Kung is also very good as well. Also the restaurant is BYOB. And don't forget to order thai iced coffee best I ever had.

The food at Beyond Thai was good. Not great and nothing to really write about. The veggies were fresh but it was evident a lot of the items were pre-made. The kick that I usually enjoy while eating Thai food was also absent. The woman who was supposed to be seating people completely ignored me and I had to go to her and ask to be seated and she kind of grunted at me and then ignored me for about 20 minutes without even offering me water. The place was very busy and I can understand waiting but this was ridiculous. I am disappointed I didn't go to Tim Tub Thai! This is a BYOB establishment and I am thinking that would have been just the thing I needed. Also, I am curious why they have the tv on when the place is so packed. It wasn't like it was sports but "Cupcake Wars." I think one of my problems with this place is that it serves sushi. Just stick to one thing and get it right!

Food was ok, not great - place was clean and well let. Comfortable spot to grab a bite, byob a plus, but the food just wasn't that good. Can easily get better Thai 15 minutes away in uptown. Probably won't go back.

Food is consistent and delicious. Great neighborhood place for dining in or take-out. Attractive restaurant and nice staff. My go-to Thai restaurant. Love the curries in particular.

It was good food, nothing to rave about. I was really hoping that I would love it since Thai is either hit or miss. I wouldn't say it was terrible but nothing about the dishes we had were to die for or worth a trip back. We ordered Pad Thai, Pad Seiw (however you spell it) and a curry dish. The portions are small, the price is cheap but look elsewhere....

The food was just "average." Nothing special. In a city with so many quality Thai options, this one lags. Also, we did delivery. They showed up about 20 minutes later than they promised. Wont be a repeat customer.

Beyond Thai provided an excellent meal. To start we had an iced coffee which was about what you'd expect and the crab Rangoon which were small but flaky and delicious. As an entree I had the shrimp in a clay pot which was a very savory noodle dish with about a half dozen medium sized shrimp while my girlfriend had the panang curry. The panang curry was fantastic with bell peppers, potatoes, and well cooked chicken. The panang curry had a bit of kick so ask for it mild unless you like spicy. Service was fast and friendly. Overall a great place to get a meal.

I had just gotten out of work and the last thing I wanted to do was cook a meal. I scouted out local areas because it was a nice day and I thought I'd take myself out to dinner. I noticed Beyond Thai had 33 relatively decent reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. The food was nothing stellar. I'm used to eating at other Thai places where the portions seemed a little more generous. I had the Chicken Satay and the Panang Curry Chicken. The Satay was not as flavorful as what I've had at other restaurants. I ate them like people eat French fries in the car on the way home. Once I bit into the chicken, the flavor stopped. It seemed like all of the spicy sauce was just brushed over the meat. Clearly they weren't marinated. The Panang Curry had fresh green beans in it. Green beans are healthy and I was happy to eat them. I just kind of felt like they didn't belong in the dish. The other places I've been just stick to bell peppers. I was going to sit down and relax with my meal at the restaurant, but the moment I walked in I was overwhelmed by the foulest old building smell I think I have ever been immersed in since my last visit to my great uncle's house. It was so musty in there, I don't even know how anyone dining would be able to taste the full flavors of their food. I immediately told the clerk that I wanted my order to go. What a shame. I really wanted to eat out! For checking in, the place tells you that you basically get a free "roll." To my dismay, it was only for patrons dining in, and for orders over $15. I didn't realize this until I actually opened the coupon. I think if I had complained, the staff would have let me redeem the coupon, but I didn't want to press the issue. How disappointing. I'd never be able to sit in there longer than 5 minutes. I waited outside for my to-go order. I won't be going back. They didn't even put napkins in the bag! I would if I lived in the area, but honestly it's not worth the trip out to this less-than-quaint establishment. If you cruise the internet, you'll find much better Thai places.

I really like this place. It looks like it should be some hole in the wall dump of an Asian restaurant, but the quality of the food and service is top notch. They are reasonably priced, and though they take 20 minutes to get your order ready, at least you know it's freshly made. It's not in a conspicuous spot, so it might get most customers from local businesses who know they are there. I'm glad I found it~!

First time here and it was a good experience. Decided as a last minute dinner after a quick yelp search in the area. I got the crab Rangoon as the yelp offer and it was easy, quick and yummy. Small and not overly cream cheesy. Tom yum soup was really good. I had yellow curry with beef. It was also good....maybe a little thin..but tasty. Service was good. They were short and to the point. For the price and quality, I would come again if I'm in the area. The atmosphere was quiet and calm. booths have no cushion but food came so quick, it didn't have a chance to get uncomfortable.

My first rule of restaurants - Remember someone is making food for you instead of YOU making dinner, Enjoy that, people! We have eaten here several times in the past few years, and have always had a delicious meal. Yesterday was no exception - I had the yakisoba noodles with chicken and hubby had red curry and gyoza appetizer which were all yummy. We had some time constraints, but our service was just fine. Looked like we had time for dessert, so we ordered the Thai Custard. And waited - for about 15 minutes. Hubby was getting antsy, so we went up to the counter to ask, and he wanted to pay our bill and leave. The waitress looked hurt, said that the cook was MAKING OUR CUSTARD and it would soon be ready. That was our mistake - we are used to the cold flan-type custard or crème brulee which is pre-made and then maybe flamed for a crust and assumed that would be the case here. To have someone actually make it from scratch - oh my it was worth waiting for. It arrive soon after. Two lovely squares of 3-layer custard, scored & flame caramelized on top with cashews in a sweet sauce. It was delicious, the cashews added the right crunch and salt and the custard was just sweet enough. We were humbled that this small place would take the time to create his lovely tasty treat on the spot. What was our hurry anyway?? Really, it made us appreciate the work that goes into a restaurant. Folks who make food for other folks and try to please as many as possible have a very difficult dance indeed. Of course we will be back.

Was looking around the neighborhood trying to find a place to eat and decided to try this place. Walking in it was a little empty, but very clean and open-looking. We were seated, and service was a little slow, but to be honest, I've kind of come to expect that at many Thai restaurants. I guess it does give me a little time to kick back, relax, and enjoy the meal :) The food was pretty standard thai food. The pad see ew was good, and the curry wasn't very thick but it was very flavorful. Overall it's a good to know that there's a place close by that I can rely on for solid thai food.

Very yummy! Really enjoyed the soups, curries and appetizers. I haven't been back since they started serving sushi. I'm excited to try it. I've been a couple times with a couple girls friends and we all really enjoy the food.

Great place for typical thai food. My friend and I came here on a sunday night and though it didn't look too busy, service was slow but there was 1 waitress on duty. She seemed sorry about the slow service but she was so friendly we forgave her :) I got the red curry with brown rice which I thought tasted very good and it was not drowning in grease like other places' curries usually do. My friend got the pad see ew which tasted good as well. It's a great place if you're craving thai food but nothing amazing about the place. I still give it 4 stars bc the prices are very reasonable and the food was yummy :)

Update to my previous review: I received a call from a woman I'm guessing is the manager or owner of the restaurant. She apologized profusely for my bad experience and invited my family to come in and dine free of charge to give them another chance. She was very sweet and I did appreciate her personal apology. We may give this place another shot, but I do feel that the food quality has dropped in the last few months which is why I'm still not raving about it.

I had it delivered.. Not to happy. I was overcharged on the duck curry. The site says $9, they charged me $12 though.. They also only gave me a half container full of white rice to go with it.. Not to happy with that, but what are you going to do? I got pad woonsen which was surprisingly good, it tasted more like Chinese though. I also got the pad thai which was incredibly bland and the portions were small. I did get my free crab rangoon with my order which was good. :) I dont think the prices match the product, but thats just me.

This place recently stopped selling sushi so I don't see the point of going there anymore. Just mediocre thai food, most things are alright but don't get the Lard Nar, it was pretty gross. Hana Asian Bistro has a larger selection, serves sushi, and is right down the road.

BYOB is always a plus in my book. Especially when paired with delicious Tom Yum, Yum Nua (Beef Salad), Panang Curry, and Spicy Eggplant with beef. The sauce in the Eggplant was outstanding. I prefer my Panang curries a bit thicker, but this one was still very flavorful. Beef salad had more beef than Wendy's. Ambiance includes muzak w/ vocals remixes of your favorite 70's and 80's classics. Triptastic. Best part - price. $32 plus my bottle of wine for a delicious 2 entree 2 appetizer meal.

This restaurant is a gem. AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE. Thai food is a favorite for my boyfriend and I. We always went to Gumrai Thai in Arlington heights and thought that was the best thai restaurant BUT THAT CHANGED. The food is sooo good. It has many vegetarian options. The staff or the family that owns it were just simply sweet. They made sure we liked the food made recommendations to us. We got panang curry and pad kee mao - both were just perfect.

We only ate here once and thought it was quite good, yet for some reason didn't return. Possibly because we were there on a dead night and it was weird to sit in a restaurant where only one other table was occupied. BUT! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The server was very friendly and attentive. Last night we decided to order in. I was impressed that the food was nice and warm. Everything was very tasty. The shumai was especially nice. We're going to start going here regularly!

I'm so glad I found this incredible Thai restaurant less than a mile from my home. I'm not a huge fan of Ruby of Siam--it's the epitome of average Thai food and is a bit over-priced with some very rude staff, but I go there on occasion because of the location. Wanting to try something new for carry-out service, I found Beyond Thai on Yelp and saw their positive reviews. Upon entering, my friend and I were greeted by Pat, the owner, who was so attentive and kind. She walked us through the menu, made some recommendations, asked a few questions about our lives, and had us seated with water while we waited for our food. I have never in my life received that kind of attention--I hope that there are more business owners who are like Pat. The food was outstanding. The Tom-Kha and Tom-Yum was to die for; loved the Pad Khee Mao; spring rolls were fresh and came with great sauce; and the bubble tea lattes were better than other local establishments. Everything I've had on the menu has been wonderful, though I prefer to stick to the Thai dishes. Since my first visit in February, I have patronized Beyond Thai over ten times. The staff, Pat, the food, the location, and the beautiful, relaxing, and inviting interior itself makes Beyond Thai my go-to spot. I even have friends come in from the city and they like Beyond Thai more than the Thai restaurants near them! I should note that I visited this restaurant before it was Beyond Thai and would have given it 2, maybe 3 stars. Very average. But with the new management and chef and everything else, it's a complete different restaurant. If you went a few years ago, know that this is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. 5 stars, easily.

This place is great! The ambience here is so chill and relaxing decor inside. They were playing 70s, 80s, and 90s slow jams on their radio. Loved it because I grew up with those songs! My gf and I came here near closing time and we're the last to be in here. We were in the area and never been. Plus we didn't want to drive into the city for Thai food. The only reason why it took them a little while longer to take our order is because there is one main waitress and one lady taking the orders via phone. From what I've read earlier, this place has BYOB. They were all very nice and attentive. Brought us water and hot tea without us having to ask for assistance. The food was great! It is definitely better than Ruby of Siam and much cheaper! You get more bang for your buck here. We had crab ragoon. I've been to restaurants where they are skimpy on the filling.. not this place! We shared a seaweed salad.. Sooo good! And we also shared one entree.. Pad Thai with tofu. Yummy in our tummy's! LoL.. Yeah yeah.. It's corny, I know! And to top it off, yelp offers a free California maki or avocado maki. At the end of our meal, the waitress and the owner came to our table and asked us our opinion about the place. It seems like they know who their regulars are because they questioned how we heard about this place. We will definitely come back to try different items on the menu.

The hubs and I live super close to this thai joint so we've dined in, picked up, and ordered delivery from this place. Food: It's delicious! Pad thai, pad kee mao, thai beef salad, emerald noodles, red and yellow curry... all very good. The food tends to be a bit on the spicy side, so watch out for that. I love spicy foods and I had asked for pad kee mao to be extra spicy the first time I ever ordered, and oh boy, it was suuuuper hot. Their baseline level of spicy is a good amount of spiciness for me. Pick up: Never had a problem. It was always prepared in a timely manner, and there was no hassle in picking up food. Delivery: Now, this is where the issue lies. The first time we ordered delivery, we waited well over an hour for the food. The hubby got pissed off so he called the restaurant to complain. We got our food for free. The second time we got delivery, the same ridiculous wait time happened again. Hubby was mad again, so he called to complain. We got a $20 credit for food there and they encouraged us to dine-in instead. One of the owners apologized and explained that they use an outside delivery service since they don't get enough delivery orders to warrant using their own staff. Service: Pretty darn good in responding to my husband's pissed off phone calls, and giving us incentives to go back! Service can be slightly on the slow side while dining in but usually not a huge problem. In conclusion, it's the food and service (one of the owners is really nice!) that keeps us going back. I highly recommend NOT doing delivery, unless you don't mind waiting for 1.5 hours for your food. Dine-in or pickup instead! The food is worth it for a decently priced thai place in Skokie.

Our new favorite Thai in the suburbs. Nicely presented without being fancy. Fabulous flavors in all the classic Thai dishes. We had Basil Duck, Panang Curry Beef, Pad Thai, and Basil Chicken, and they were all excellent versions, better than your average Thai restaurant. Brown rice is available. Warm, personal service. Serving sizes are appropriate, but not don't expect massive portions. Given the reasonable prices and high quality, this still counts as good value. We didn't try any of the non-Thai dishes or sushi. BYO.

This place doesn't really stand out but for their cheap prices its a worth coming back. I had a spicy tuna roll n California roll at 5$ a roll for 6 small pieces which was standard sushi good. Then I had the Rama noodles which is basically plain noodles with broccoli n peanut sauce drizzled over it, I would avoid that for sure next time. Finally for $3.50 I had a strawberry freeze which was amazing! My total was around 22$ and since it was over 20 I got a free appetizer (get the crab Rangoon) overall nothing special but good for quick cheap Thai pickup! Deff gotta try the lunch special!

Cute little Thai restaurant that is not too far from the Old Orchard Shopping Center. Compared to the other Thai options in this area, this one is pretty good. The menu is not going to overwhelm with inventive fusion items, but they do the staples pretty well. The prices are right, especially if you go at lunch and get the special. Overall, a solid little restaurant.

The Pad Wootsen Thai is excellent and I enjoyed a Summer Maki. The service was perfect. A great find!

It's usually hard to screw up Thai food, so I'm giving them a 3 star. The green curry I tried was pretty decent, but their Pad Thai was bland - not moist & sweet like it should. They clearly were low on the tamarind sauce. Their portion sizes are pretty good too and service quick, so overall not a bad place, but considering there are tons of great Thai places it's average.

First time trying this place. I have to say that it is very solid Thai Food. I am no expert but I thought the dishes were very fresh and portions were reasonable for the cost. We ordered on a Friday and picked up and the order was done exactly when I got there. Had Basil Fried rice, Mongolian Chicken, Orange Chicken, veggie egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. I think this my favorite Orange Chicken. The sauce is very light almost clear with an intense orange flavor like it was made with orange bitters. Most places use this insane thick orange sauce which ruins the chicken but Beyond Thai seems to know what they are doing with this dish. I can definitely say we will be ordering from here again and this may be our "go to" Thai place in Skokie. All for Skokie business thriving, we need it here. I can't speak for delivery or dine-in service but I tend to view a place based on food and not service. Too many people get hung up on service these days. Don't get me wrong I believe in good service but I also know that our society forgets that restaurants have people working for them (not robots) and sometimes service lacks but people make mistakes and they need our support to make them better instead of shredding them on Yelp when they do something wrong. Anyway that is another subject, I will leave that alone for now. Bottom line Good food (not blow your mind good) but solid for the money. I always say to just try it and decide for yourself.

Yuuuummy! Food is bursting with flavor. We had the lunch bento beef teriyaki with California maki and miso soup and the cashew chicken Asian plate with Tom yum soup. I can see senior citizens struggling with how strong the flavors are, but we positively reveled in the delightful meals. We particularly enjoyed the attention to details for things like the ginger and wasabi in the bento box, which were made to look like a flower and leaf. Super cute! Don't let the dingy shopping area fool you. The restaurant is clean and the food is divine! My mouth waters just thinking of going back for more.... Awwww... So we went back the following week and the food wasn't as divine... Still good, but not divine....I'll try again though!

It was my first Thai restaurant I have ever been. Sweet sour soup Tom Kha was really discovery for me. It was so strange and tasty. I also was surprised with coconut cocktail with jellies!

Great Thai food and decent sushi. Amazing variety. Prices are great, plus if your order is more than $20 you get a free side (they have really good egg rolls). My only complaint is that the parking lot in the small strip is very narrow.

Excellent Thai food, portions could be larger. Service inconsistent. Stick with the Thai dishes. Best Thai food I have had other than Siam Noodle and Rice.

Beyond Thai just opened on Aug. 1 and used to be Thai Pavilion II. The new place has new owners and a new menu. Firstly, the food here is amazing. For $7.95, you get about two meals worth of food and they're not skimpy on the meat. I've already had the Pad Thai, the red curry, and the Thai spring rolls and all we're delicious. They also have a great lunch special. For $6.95 you get an appetizer, soup, and an entree. Thai Pavilion used to have a lunch buffet, but Beyond Thai's lunch special is just as great and you're still getting quite a bit of food for the price. The service is outstanding as well. They're very friendly and are more than willing to help you order if you're not that familiar with Thai food. And if you need any more reasons to check it out, Beyond Thai also delivers to Skokie, Evanston, and Wilmette for $2.50! Their hours aren't listed on Yelp yet, but here are their business hours: Mon-Thurs: 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Fri-Sat: 11:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Sunday: noon- 9:00 p.m. Check out their menu here: thaipavilionskokie.com/b…

So the egg rolls 3.5 stars The other appetizers 4 stars The Fried Tofu...Really AWFUL!!!! The Walnut shrimp. Do not make my mistake and think it will be like other Walnut shrimp with the Mayo base. This stuff is horriffic. Sweet sweet sweet..No bite and just so not good. 1.5 stars. It is possible I do not know what to order in Thai food so that is why I at least gave it 3 stars. Actually i was starving so I ate all but the fried Tofu but noopooooooooooe. Wasted $32 bucks I should have ordered a beef sandwich from Palermos

My wife and I and another couple ate here for the first time last night (based on other yelp reviews). All four of us are fans of Thai food and we weren't disappointed. The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Great presentation. The only reason that we didn't give it a higher rating was due to that fact that the service was slow. Our waitress apologized a couple of times stating that one of the cooks was missing. Great find. We will be back. BYOB.

Really good prices !! My pad thai was a little bit mushi. The chicken on my soup had a frozen flavor. My wife had Shrimp on clay pot and it was delicious. The service was good.

My wife and I went to Beyond Thai last night and it was awesome. Do not be scared off by the small outdated strip mall, the restaurant is clean, the food is fresh and prepared properly. Eve was our server and she was exceptional, she made some great recommendations. We had the spring rolls, Californian Sushi, cashew chicken and tempura shrimp and we loved every bite. It is BYOB so if you want a glass of wine with dinner be prepared. We met one of the owners as she came by the table to check on us, she was very kind and thanked us for our business. We will return and hope you do too so this "gem" can survive.

I love this place! BYOB is a great option. The sushi menu is diverse and everything on it is great in portion and taste. My faves are the Green Turtle and the Skokie Crazy, owner is very nice and remembers my friend and I every time we go in....but that's probably because we've been going there almost every Sunday for the last couple months. Prices are fantastic especially compared to the sushi/Thai places in my neighborhood in Chicago and food is better than most of those more expensive places. I'd much rather drive to Skokie nowadays for my sushi! I hope people find this place because it is off the main drag just around the corner from Old Orchard Mall and could get passed on with all the big name chain restaurants but I have to say...make the effort to check this place out if you're in the neighborhood shopping or staying at one of the nearby hotels....totally worth it!

It's a Chinese restaurant with pad Thai and green curry on the buffet. If you like Chinese food, go here. If you're looking for strictly Thai food made by Thai chefs, you may be disappointed.

There is a ray of sunshine beaming out of the strip mall: Beyond Thai! I was out there the first week they opened and was first impressed by the tasteful yet comfortable decor as well as the wonderful hostess (she's so sweet and has a great sense of humor). Ok, now for the best part: the food! I love their spring rolls: not mushy at all. I'm kind of in a rut when it comes to Thai food: Pad Thai w/tofu extra spicy. They do not disappoint. So if you are in/near Skokie, drive on in and enjoy!

I had been here many times when it was Thai Pavilion II-they were very good but I think Beyond Thai is just a tad better. We all had the lunch buffet. We were one of the first parties to arrive so the steam table wasn't full yet, but what was there was awesome. There was a spicy orange chicken, spicy basil chicken, a mild chicken curry with eggplant, fried rice, stir fried veg w/ tofu, some kind of beef /vegetable stir fry and a slew of other things that I missed because all the other people there were pigs and ate it all!! What I didn't get were the noodles, mussels, squid, more orange chicken, more of everything. It seemed like they couldn't cook it fast enough and there was always someone who got there before me! Crab rangoon and spring rolls were just ok. I'd pass on the soup. The tom yum wasn't spicy and too sweet for my taste, not enough lime, and heavy on the fish sauce...too much of that gives a funky wang quality that is unpleasant. I was sorry I didn't see the big punch bowl full of tapioca and kidney beans, like the previous Thai Pavilion II. The server did bring us out four bowls of tapioca topped with canteloupe, but it wasn't sweet and had a medicinal taste to it. Beware, the buffet is pricey, $8.99. It may have been better to go with the lunch spoecial @ $6.95 but then, I am frugal (I didn't pay this time!) I will be back here again, the excellent dishes far outweigh the few disappointments.

Best thai place in skokie,il I used to love Oparts cafe but they closed then my place on lincoln thank god I went to do laundry next door and spotted this place. I have ordered at least 5 times in the last 2 months and have never been let down.

Good quality food. Delivery was 1.5 hours, not 50 minutes. Crab Rangoon was missing the sweet & sour sauce, Wonton soup was ordered with chicken but arrived as vegetable. The good side is the Orange Chicken and everything else was tasty after I microwaved it to the correct temperature. Strange first order. Haven't decided if I'll try again.

Went here with coworkers for lunch. Most of us did the lunch special option, which is a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. The crab Rangoon was a little disappointing because it was so small, but the pad thai was very good, and it had a good amount of tofu in it.

Food was very good. Nice selection of dishes. Good value for the cost of meals. Pad Thai was excellent. Service was very pleasant. Located in a quiet strip mall location. We'll definitely be back again to try more dishes.

This restaurant is out of the mainstream areas in a little strip mall and there are a great many chain restaurants in the nearby shopping mall, so when I was in the area on training, I stumbled over Beyond Thai completely by chance. I was completely blown away by my luck at this find. I had their Chicken Pad Thai, some appetizers and dessert. Everything was done perfectly with perfect noodles and spices that weren't greasy or overbearing. So delicately done for just the right experience. The ambiance of the small restaurant is very friendly and casual, and the wait-staff is very attentive and friendly. I couldn't be happier with this find, and I hope that I'm up in the Skokie area again soon to sample more of their great food. Don't miss this place!

Awesome place! Thanks to the post (and reviews) on Yelp, I gave Beyond Thai a try tonight. Love that it is a BYOB; a rarity in suburbia! The food was great; my standard is Red Curry with Tofu ... and it definitely is high on the list! And what a deal; dinner for two with tax and tip under $25! The only down side was that the restaurant wasn't full ... so, go check it out!!!!

I had the lunch special for $6.95. It included a choice of entree, soup and a side. I chose the Hot and Sour Soup, Red Curry, and the Crab Rangoon. It also included rice and a Salad with ginger dressing. Everything was outstanding. What st ood out most for me was the soup. It was as good as I have ever had. Yum! Check this place out!

I have been a regular here but am giving a 1 star review for my recent bad encounter with their service. We had tried to book a party here for this past Thursday for 30 people. We had gone in to speak to them in Monday to pre order the food and work out a price. We worked everything out and confirmed everything and figured we were all set. We decided to call Thursday morning to just make sure everything was set to go and it's good we did. The girl we were dealing with told us they didn't have enough ingredients for the food or the appropriate staff so they couldn't accommodate our party. She then tried to put the blame on is by saying we didn't confirm with her Monday when we had. So anyways I let that go as a misunderstanding and tried to explain to her that we had already told our party of 30 that we would be having a party there and to please accommodate us-NO LUCK! She kept saying that there weren't enough ingredients or staff-makes me think if we had walked in as a group of 30 what would have happened. When I asked that question, she said they would accept us. I told her she had lost one of her regulars and I would no longer be coming there anymore. In any business you have to be ready for anything!

I dropped by here after observing that another restaurant was just too packed to accept me in, around 2:30. This place welcomed me, the only guest at the time, with a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. I got the chicken pad thai, which was really good, and the tofu tom kha soup, which was also pretty good. The service was attentive (I mean, I was the only one there) and I took my time eating and reading a book, as there was no rush. Nothing overly great about it, though.

Great food, friendly staff. We mostly do carry out, but dining in is fine. The Emerald noddle special is wonderful- spinach noddles, with loads of seafood - really big scallops!

I really wish I could give this place a better rating, but I can't. I have eaten here three times. If I would have reviewed this the first time I ate in the restaurant it would have been a 5 star review. Myself and my fiancé had a date night and the food was decent, hot, and came fast. We were the only guests at the time of ordering. This is where my opinion changed very fast. The second time I came, it was about 3/4 full. The staff was very unfriendly, and made it clear that I was not welcomed there. I ordered a soda, which never came. I asked about 5 times. I ordered my food, and waited about ten minutes. At this time, a Thai family of 5 sat next to me. They ordered, had food delivered, sent a wrong item back, and had that item made and brought out before I even had my one item for one person brought out. Here is the kicker. They brought the other family MY food and they sent it back. How do I know it was my food and this family was Thai? The wait staff and family kept talking in hushed voices in Thai. While constantly looking over at my table. Another 15 minutes went by with wait staff constantly standing near my table in hushed voices pointing at me. I finally walked to the door and was stopped by a manager. They forced me to pay for the food I never received or they will call the cops. They bagged my food and threw me out. I believe in three strikes and you are out. Since my fiancé loves their food, I ordered delivery for us and my married friends. Delivery took two hours, the food was cold, and when the delivery person finally got there, he immediately said, "what, no tip?". I closed the door, and he stood out side for 10 minutes, and then sat in the car for another 20. I have never had such bad customer service in my life. And don't complain, remember they call the cops.

(3)Allen P.
(2)Sabria M.
(1)R. B.
I really like this place. The lunch special is one of the best deals you can ever have. Comes with soup and another appetizer with the main dish for around $8 ...How can you beat that? The Basil chicken is tasty and the workers are very polite.
(5)Chi N.
I would ask for less sugar next time
(4)Madeleine E.
(1)Jennifer T.
(4)Lisa A.
(4)Zach A.
(2)Linda L.
(4)Natalie K.
(4)Adde B.
(5)Jackie K.
(3)Renee G.
Delicious duck curry and crab Rangoon. Presentation was nice, fast service, quiet room, close to our concert at the North Shore Center and an easy 20 minute walk from the train stop.
(5)Matt S.
Amazing food!! The most authentic tasting food I've had out here in Illinois. I recommend any of the currys and noodle dishes. I will be returning soon.
(5)Sethu M.
Amazing food. Been eating here since it was Thai Pavilion. Still great food with many improvements. Must eat their Lime Chicken, simply out of this world.
(5)Dan F.
Good local spot for a quick dinner. Bonus star for BYOB Bonus star for Belly and Yelp rewards Negative star for inconsistent service Bottom Line: For a date, not so good. For a dinner with friends and drinks, great choice!
(4)Jane J.
We love this place. The food is good and the employees are always so helpful and friendly. We've only gotten carry out but the food is good and not greasy
(5)Czarina S.
Amazing options for lunch menu! They offered soup, appetizer and main dish for the lunch menu at a great price! Thai tea was also good!
(4)Sana B.
This place knows customer service. I did have one bad experience, but that may have been with some other owners. But now? Amazing. I ask for extra peppers? Of course! Anything! And the lunch special is an amazing deal. The salad makes me speechless. And I don't like salads. Must try!!
(5)Alicia L.
(1)Cindy L.
(4)Angela L.
My boyfriend and I always come here for their lunch specials. Staff is nice and attentive and the food is really good. We usually get the Pad see ew, Pad Thai, Panang curry, and Tom Yum soup. This place is definitely a hidden gem!
(4)Graham T.

(2)Mister P.
Food was ok, not great - place was clean and well let. Comfortable spot to grab a bite, byob a plus, but the food just wasn't that good. Can easily get better Thai 15 minutes away in uptown. Probably won't go back.
(2)Miriam D.
Food is consistent and delicious. Great neighborhood place for dining in or take-out. Attractive restaurant and nice staff. My go-to Thai restaurant. Love the curries in particular.
(4)Anonymous N.
(1)Tony P.
The food was just "average." Nothing special. In a city with so many quality Thai options, this one lags. Also, we did delivery. They showed up about 20 minutes later than they promised. Wont be a repeat customer.
(2)Dan W.

(2)Diana J.
(5)Teresa C.
ordered delivery for lunch. Great service. Decent food. I used GRUBHUB to place my order and it was a smooth transaction. I will order from here again.
(4)Rob _.
(4)Karina S.
Actually really yummy Thai food and super affordable! Amazingly friendly staff that makes it one of the better Thai places in the area. Would recommend it over Ruby of Siam ANY DAY.

(4)Jessica D.
Very yummy! Really enjoyed the soups, curries and appetizers. I haven't been back since they started serving sushi. I'm excited to try it. I've been a couple times with a couple girls friends and we all really enjoy the food.
(4)Karen K.
(4)Anna K.
(3)Holly W.
(3)Andrew P.
This place recently stopped selling sushi so I don't see the point of going there anymore. Just mediocre thai food, most things are alright but don't get the Lard Nar, it was pretty gross. Hana Asian Bistro has a larger selection, serves sushi, and is right down the road.
(2)Steve S.
(5)Kanan K.
(5)John B.
(4)Andy S.
Good food, large portions, cheap pricing. They do sushi now too I guess, haven't had the chance to check that out. Had some deep fried chicken with a sweet sauce and slices of lime, should have wrote down what it was called. Pretty amazing!
(5)Ramena A.
It was good, service was really awkward. Very hole in the wall place, but very enjoyable!
(4)Jordan H.
This is some of the best Thai food I have had in my life (and I'm really picky when it comes to Thai food). Lunch special is an amazing deal. Wish the restaurant was in my home town!
(5)Thor D.

(4)Adam B.
BYO.
(5)AJ M.
(3)Brayden K.
(4)Colette M.
The Pad Wootsen Thai is excellent and I enjoyed a Summer Maki. The service was perfect. A great find!
(5)Sam T.
(3)MTML D.
(4)C S.
(5)Steve O.
Not bad not bad.
(4)Cris G.
Service is good , I'm a big fan of Thai cuisine but this one didn't pass my tastebuds at all ...
(3)Eugene G.
It was my first Thai restaurant I have ever been. Sweet sour soup Tom Kha was really discovery for me. It was so strange and tasty. I also was surprised with coconut cocktail with jellies!
(4)Venessa F.
Yum! Decent atmosphere and friendly staff. Location is crap but the experience makes up for it. Get some sushi to take home!!
(4)Monica G.
Been ordering delivery from here and it's been consistently good food and the delivery is quick !!
(5)Just M.
Yum! Great service, fresh food, reasonable prices, perfectly seasoned and cooked! It was out first and defiantly not out last! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Lenny G.
Great Thai food and decent sushi. Amazing variety. Prices are great, plus if your order is more than $20 you get a free side (they have really good egg rolls). My only complaint is that the parking lot in the small strip is very narrow.
(5)Matt P.
"Great sushi and thai. Came for lunch."
(5)Sandy S.
Their food is sooooo good and so filling at very cheap prices! The lunch special is such a bargain
(4)Evan L.
Excellent Thai food, portions could be larger. Service inconsistent. Stick with the Thai dishes. Best Thai food I have had other than Siam Noodle and Rice.
(5)Rae C.

(3)Matt P.
BYOB.
(4)Aji D.
Really good prices !! My pad thai was a little bit mushi. The chicken on my soup had a frozen flavor. My wife had Shrimp on clay pot and it was delicious. The service was good.
(3)jim h.
(5)Danielle A.
(5)L G.
It's a Chinese restaurant with pad Thai and green curry on the buffet. If you like Chinese food, go here. If you're looking for strictly Thai food made by Thai chefs, you may be disappointed.
(2)Bill G.
(5)Pradeep G.
Healthy portions...liked the food...good service...surely will go n recommend
(4)Adele S.
(5)Ben R.
Best thai place in skokie,il I used to love Oparts cafe but they closed then my place on lincoln thank god I went to do laundry next door and spotted this place. I have ordered at least 5 times in the last 2 months and have never been let down.
(5)Roy V.
(3)John G.
Bland food and small portions. Don't bother with this place.
(1)Annie M.
Went here with coworkers for lunch. Most of us did the lunch special option, which is a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. The crab Rangoon was a little disappointing because it was so small, but the pad thai was very good, and it had a good amount of tofu in it.
(3)Ch T.
Food was very good. Nice selection of dishes. Good value for the cost of meals. Pad Thai was excellent. Service was very pleasant. Located in a quiet strip mall location. We'll definitely be back again to try more dishes.
(4)Brad S.
(5)Kathy T.
(4)S R.
(5)Akta D.
I've been here a few times. I"ve ordered the Panang Curry and the Pad see Ewe. THe best is certainly the Panang curry. THe pad see ewe was good but a little on the dry side. I'll defintely be back

We live in the neighborhood. This place is dependable, it's easy to order and make substitutions, and it's consistently good.

The Chicago area's best kept sushi secret and great lunch specials! Great food for amazing prices! My FAVORITE BYOB place! No bottle fees!

We discovered Beyond Thai on the recommendation of our son. It has become our number one lunch and frequently dinner choice. Friendly service, good presentation, and always fresh and carefully prepared dishes.
