we have been going to this restaurant for 19 yrs....we love it !! mario, tracey, cindy, and the whole gang are awesome !! every visit for us has always been...friendly outstanding service !! best margarita's & mexican food, chips, guac, steak, etc ...period ! no matter what we order here the cooks do it right, our favorite, the patty melt, always cooked perfectly juicy!! their enchilada, mole, and aztec sauces are sooo good, and wonderful desserts ! this place is worth the drive, spend the day in sandwich, there are so many neat shops !

Decent Mexican food. Chips and salsa are really good. The mild salsa comes out warm as do the chips. The margaritas are the best around. We usually get a pitcher when we have a group. Two margaritas will knock you on your butt. I really like the fish tacos (fri & sat bites only). Steak quesadillas are another favorite. The steak burrito is huge and yummy. I recently ordered the tamales for the first time and they are awesome. The beans are a touch salty. The rice is boring. This place is weird about seating groups. They will sometimes seat you and sometimes not if you are missing someone.

Nasty and tasteless. Owner is an ass! We use to go here about every Friday with a group of 8 to 20 people. We have boycotted this shit hole for 8 years. If you make reservations, your entire party better be there or your not getting seated. If 1 person doesn't show, late, ticket, died, your screwed! If and when you DO get seated, the food is bland and tastless. The ONLY thing they have going for them IS the Marquritas. Everyone says the ARE the best. But when your done eating.....and it doesn't matter how big your bar tab is, the Asshole, sorry, Owner is at the doorway staring at your party like a vulture waiting for the pack to get done with the carcass! TOTALLY RUDE!!!! To bad I couldn't tell you how I really feel!

Overall, Santa Fe has decent food. They're somewhat pricey, however. We go there because it's one of the only good Mexican restaurants in the area. It's always very crowded when we go and it takes a while to be sat down. But the service is somewhat fast once you've ordered, so it's not too big of a deal.

If you have eaten at burritoville in dekalb, you have eaten at the santa fe. Plain, ordinary food. The free chips are nice but u thats the extent of the goods. Never tried the magaritas so cant say. Servers are ok, nothing special and really need to be more attentive. I may go back to try again.....hopefully a better review.

We've been eating at Santa Fe for years. We really like the food and atmosphere and would recommend this eatery to our friends. I was greatly disappointed to see a NO GUNS sign go up on the front door. NO GUNS means NO MONEY. Sad to have to find another good Mexican restaurant.

We were in Sandwich on Saturday for the first time. We went to do some antiquing and happened upon this restaurant and decided to stop for lunch. I have nothing but raving good things to say about it. The waitress was outstanding, and the food delicious. The prices are reasonable and competitive. The place was spotless clean. You really take a chance these days walking into a restaurant cold. I've walked out of a couple. In this case we fell into something wonderful. We will certainly go back. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.

Enchiladas with mole sauce! YUM! All I can say is thank G-d for Santa Fe! As a homeowner in the Sandwich/Plano area its sad how deprived we are of decent places to eat! Is Santa Fe the best mexican food you've ever had? No, but it is very consistant and good. Sometimes I wish the menu was more creative but I have never tried any of the specials, maybe I should some time. The service is always great and I can not complain about the price AT ALL!

Not a whole lot to say about Santa Fe because it's great! They have a fun atmosphere, excellent food and a wonderful, friendly wait staff that is prompt! They are well known for their margaritas and I always seem to get the steak tacos, enchiladas, or chile rellenos. Some of the specials that I've had which are tasty are the fish tacos and salmon azteca. Santa Fe is the place I have been going to for years with family and friends when we are looking to get some delicious Mexican fare-check it out if you're in the area!

We're regulars at Santa Fe because of the consistently good food, Rachel's great Margaritas, very nice atmosphere, and most of all the cream of the crop wait staff. Try the Ceviche, Enchiladas Mexicanas (with mole), and Fish Tacos. It's a popular place but the occasional short wait on weekend nights is worth it.

Great food, service, chips, salsa, margaritas, and as they say.... The whole Enchilada. Mui bien!

This place is definitely the go to place for when we eat out. The best Mexican food in the area. Service is always great. Mario, the owner, he totally rocks! Can't say anything bad about Santa Fe and enough good. A little known fact we had just discovered is that the deserts are phenomenal!

Comfortable Mexican restaurant conveniently located on Rt 34 in Sandwich. Dined on a Tuesday night and there were quite a few other diners. Complimentary chips came with two kinds of salsa, one of which was warmed up and tasted like a roasted red pepper queso of some sort. Veggie fajitas were fresh and tasty with ample fresh guacamole, something a lot of restaurants skimp on. Shrimp fajitas were also fresh and had a reasonable number of medium sized shrimp. Both fajita plates came on regular plates versus the typical sizzling cast iron pan though, so no sizzling and steaming when dinner came out. Service was attentive but not extraordinary. Overall, a fair Americanized Mexican meal if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip there.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
