Food was good as usual service was decent but at 3 am what can you really expect. You can never go wrong with the shakes delicious.

I came here on a Saturday evening after attending an event at the Allstate Arena. The restaurant was pretty packed so we had to wait about 10 minutes because they seated out or anyone even helped us. I'm sure it's like that every evening there are any events. Food: Frisco melt ($5.49) - comes with thin fries...I saw many good reviews about the Frisco melt, it was just a-ok to me though..not amazing, but I guess you can't really expect something amazing at a fast food type of a restaurant...I could definitely feel the grease/butter/fat go into my body....but i guess that's why when you eat something like that.. it tastes good at the moment, but you may regret it later.... Atmosphere: the atmosphere here is definitely different than the Hoffman Estates location...people of all ages come here and lots of family as well....diverse.. Customer Service: the cashier was extremely friendly to me....I'll assume that he's just that friendly to every customer that comes in the door... Would I come here again?.. ehh.. maybe if I was in the area...

Honestly the worst Steak & Shake I have ever been too. Came here tonight with my boyfriend, guy who sat us didn't even acknowledge us. 5-6 servers were visible plus the manager and it took at least 10 minutes to get a server to our table. There were about 8 other tables and 1 large group all of whom were already eating or had obviously ordered since they all had drinks and no menus. Server was just awkward not rude but honestly had no personality. Didn't get my milkshake until our food came out which also took forever, we had a BLT and a burger. My boyfriend said his burger was awful & he honestly thought one from McDonalds would have been better. My BLT had 2 tiny pieces of bacon on it. Couldn't even complain because we could never find someone who worked there to flag down. Server was too busy sitting on a crate behind the pop and coffee station to bring us our check had to wait forever for that too. DON'T GO HERE!!

Ok I'll admit... I come here every once in a while to satisfy that fat kid craving for an old style hamburger, fries, and a milkshake. Further, I'll admit that I sit at my desk and starve until just after the 2pm mark then make my way over to enjoy a value priced meal and half priced milkshake. It's the Asian cheapness... I can't help it. I love a good eating deal and this is it! The burgers aren't going to be the best you've ever had but they certainly won't be the worst you've ever had either. There's always some "new" burger option they seem to be promoting and that's fine. I might try one of these or stick to the classic double stack with cheese with fries. It doesn't matter... let's be honest... I'm here for the milkshake that I've been thinking about all morning and through the lunch hours.. pining... craving! The great thing about this location is that they are FAST and FRIENDLY. I think that the last time I came to eat that my bill was a few bucks and I left with my shake in hand too full to polish it off there. Did I feel guilty about the rather unhealthy lunch choice made? Yes... but was it worth it? YES. Value score for Steak n Shake from 2-4pm is off the charts!

Frisco Melt is one of my favorite sandwiches, and although they don't advertise a "small" size on the shakes, there is a small.

Super duper cheap. Service is a bit slow, slightly understandable since our waiter was taking care of several tables. Burgers and fries were surprisingly not as greasy as they could be (which I'm thankful for). EVERYONE gets a milkshake here. You're weird if you don't. Steak & Shake is a fast food diner sort of place. You'll get what you order, at the quality you pay for.

With Ramona leaving, service has suffered. We noticed a lag in ordering and receiving food that was never there before. They need someone to step-up and take charge. But, the food is always good - so much better than other places. I'm a fan of being able to get breakfast while the husband has his bacon double cheeseburger - because he's usually up hours before I am and it makes sense that he is having lunch at 11. I love these fries and it is pretty normal for me to have breakfast with an order of fries - why not? And, the bill is never over $15 - how can you beat that?

Decided to stop in and try this fast food place for a burger since it is not present in my neck of the woods. The fries are thin cut, not my most favorite style of fries. The burger was one dimensional. Fairly standard with a fast food patty, nothing special. The shake was very well made. Thick and rich banana chocolate shake. Evenly made with almost no ice crystals in it. Very rich and filing, I would return for a shake. The burger was fine, but I would rather go to Five Guys or In N Out.

You've gotta get the Frisco Melt. But there's nothing at this SnS that separates it from the rest. As a matter of fact, there actually seems to be an excess of employees at this place because a bunch were just kind of standing around when I went here. Anyway, the Frisco Melt never disappoints and if you're feeling like something sweet, get a shake. They don't have the word 'shake' in their name for nothin...

The level of customer service at this location has sunk to a new low. After placing what should have been a simple order at the drive-thru, which I had to repeat (how complicated is 2 hot dogs with ketchup and cheese and a kids shake?!?) I pull up and wait several minutes at the window to pay. When I'm told the order is over $10, I knew something wasn't right and asked the girl to read it back. Instead of doing that she gives me the "You're so annoying" look and asks me to repeat the order, which I did. I saw another employee put 2 orders of fries into the bag and asked her if she was charging me for fries that I didn't order. She then gives me the look again and walks away to grab the fries out of the bag and calls the manager over to take them off of the order. At this point I ask her again to read back the order, which she still doesn't do. She shoved the bag at me so I asked point- blank what they put on the hot dogs. One more look, and she says ketchup and mustard. So I say no, it's supposed to be ketchup and cheese. So she takes the bag back, looks at the hot dogs, and says yeah, they put ketchup and cheese. So I ask for the last time "So they only have ketchup and cheese, right? There's no mustard?" She assures me that there isn't, and I start to drive away. My daughter figured it would be best to double check, and lo and behold, guess what's on those things? Now I'm mad, and we return to the window. After honking several times and being ignored, I get out of the car and open the window to call someone over. I told him the order was wrong, and that I had asked 3 times to have it read back. Apparently it was my fault, because he condescendingly asked "Well, what DO you want on them?" I repeated the order yet again, and while he went to make it 2 other employees walked past the window smirking like this was entertaining. I'm sure from their point of view it was, but the fact that they were openly staring and smiling about this shows that they have no sense of pride in their job. Finally I said that I didn't even want a new order, because God knows what they would have done to it, and I didn't want my daughter getting something that they messed with. I asked for my money back, which after a long discussion with the cashier about why she didn't ring it up correctly to begin with, she refunds me the amount of the hot dogs. I then told her about the guys that walked past laughing, about how for the prices that S&S charges I would expect better customer service than this, and that I was amazed that she didn't take it upon herself to comp the kids shake for all of the time and trouble. So she looks at me and says "Oh, you want a free shake?" Like I'm trying to scam them out of it! I said no, I've already paid for and received a shake, I just can't believe any of this. The last thing she says to me was "Have a nice day." Really?!?

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW, and rude! Waitress sat us down and we waited over 25 minutes before we walked out. Saw two other tables get their orders taken that sat after us! Signaled the waitress that sat us down and she said our server was coming. This was after she took the table next to ours order. HELLO! You sat us down almost a half an hour ago and see us with our menus yet you go take their order instead? We left before he came. Stay away from this Steak N Shake. Such a poorly establishment! I would give zero stars if Yelp would let me!

I guess the number of stars this place is given is dependent on when you're there. I already knew and expected that the service would be slow at 12:30 AM but it was incredibly slower last night. My gf and I were meeting a friend and decided to walk in a few min early to grab a table. We were seated rather quickly, and even though there were quite a few people dining in, I only saw two employees on the floor. Must have taken a good 15-20 min or so just to place our order. Our waitress explained that 3 of the overnighters didn't show up, so that explains the poor service. I'll give it 2 stars instead of 1 bc: 1) The food was pretty good(as usual) overall & 2) The waitress was apologetic and trying as hard as she could. We probably could have walked out without even paying as we stood by the register for minutes. But, we're honest and decent people so we didn't opt to do that. I'm sure the service would have been better had those other employees shown up. but all I can do is rate my experience based on how it was, not how it could have been.

Since summer is finally around the corner, my co work and I are watching what we eat, so we are ONLY doing happy hour shakes. O wait.. that's half price.. not half the calories. Any who, so this review is simple. $4 meal for a burger and fry add on a shake for another few bucks and you are in fast food bliss! I can't knock the place for the high calories in the shake nor the grease in their food.. because then I would be one of thoseeeee people. The burgers are flat top cooked and they also have hot dogs and chilli. Classic "diner food." Fries are thin and crunchy. I have to say its at least trying once or twice. Although, other than the shakes I tend to forget about this place, not sure why. Helpful Tips: -Please tip your servers! I see it too often there, because its faster food people don't tip. The people come to your table and take your order, serve you, then clean up after you! TIP THEM! -They are 24hrs. - Happy hrs is 2-4am and 2-4 pm.

Steak 'n Shake is always a great, quick place to grab a better than regular fast food burger. This location is getting 3 stars because literally everything I ordered was covered in grease. I know there will always be grease at a fast food burger joint, but my meal felt like someone had dipped the I gloves in grease before handling all of my food...

Horrible drive thru experience. Clerk kept interrupting my order to tell me to hold on TWICE and I have been in line over 10min. I am from Milwaukee and doubt I will ever return. This food had better be good as all hell

Ok the food is descent. But this is why I'm only giving it one star. They have servers there. There not very good. Rather walk up to register, get my food and sit down. They had a sign off highway that said meals under $ 4 bucks. Well, they shouldn't consider it a "meal" when a drink doesn't come with it in the first place. Well it was my two kids, my husband and myself. We all ordered water except for my daughter she got a $ 2.69 shake. So (4) meals x $ 3.99/ea. would be rougly $ 16.00 bucks then lets just say $ 3.00 for the shake. Well got the bill and the total was $ 29.72. I'm like..................what. They add the tax to every single line item then again at the end of the bill. So if you take this into consideration the meal, with no drink winds up almost being five bucks for a small burger and some fries. That price I'd rather go to Portillos.

Their shakes are always good (lots of choices) I love the shoe string french fries. Always hot and crispy. I ordered the double steak burger with cheese and a chocolate shake. A great burger should always have crispy edges. (Unfortunately it didn't today, but) It still tasted good.

I've been coming to this Steak 'n Shake for years. It's typical diner food. I tend to get the Royale and it has never disappointed me. Progressively, conditions have worsened in terms of cleanliness. The ceilings show leakage marks, the tables are wiped down only occasionally, the floors are all dirty, and it's questionable whether the silverware is washed properly. However, you can't beat the prices of Steak 'n Shake; their shakes are always perfection. I just wish the conditions were a little better.

In the words of Jimmy Fallon...EW!! Our experience began with us standing there with no one seating us, then it took a while for our server to get to us (although he did apologize). Went to use the bathroom and saw someone had thrown up in the sink and it hadn't been cleaned. Asked for our burgers to be well done, got pink ones instead. The kids running the joint look like they had no idea what they were doing, and it did not look sanitary behind the counter. Won't be going back to this location

Average burgers but great shakes! Maybe will be back for some shakes when I crave it. Service was terrible. The waters were busy and annoyed of the customers who keeps coming. I was standing for 15 minutes before someone asked me if I needed help and informed me that it might take up to 45 minutes for my order "like he was telling me its better for you to leave and come when we are not busy". Anyways nothing personal I still like the place.

It's sad to say this place is not the same since the last time I was here which was a while ago, like 1-2 yrs ago since it's kind of out of the way. I was so grossed out, I didn't even stay to order, we just left. Basically, we got seated and the server brought over a high chair that was all sticky which I had to wipe down myself. After that, I got sticky stuff all over myself from cleaning it that left me with no appetite and the other people I was with too. While I cleaned and washed up in the bathroom...no server came by to get our order. We waited a good 10 minutes. The same server was also doing the cashier and still sitting people. Ultimately, I was grossed out by the whole experience and lack of ambiance the place used to have. It was more like a dingy ambiance now. We headed to Portillo's which is always consistent and guess what, a CLEAN HIGHCHAIR! It was literally spotless! Gotta love Portillo's! :-)

I went for lunch and ordered a new menu item, the grilled cheese and burger melt, and sprite. It was not worth the price, because it was just grilled cheese wita a sliver, and I do mean sliver of meat in the corner of bread. The meat was not even as thick as one of the regular patties.

I haven't been in quite some time, now I see why. I highly recommend if you are in this area, you get your burger from Culver's instead. I hadnt hadnt had a burger from here in so long, I didnt realize how it pales in comparison to Culver's which is not even a block away. See in my picture, the burger bun was hard--I mean like crunchy, stale hard, the burger crispy ends were nothing like I remembered and the fries werent as plentiful as before. I am downgrading to a 2 as they still have excellent service, but highly doubt I will be back unless I have a hankering for their chili or breakfasts. Well, I used to love their chili and breakfasts, don't know if that quality has declined as well.

Had a craving for a Frisco Melt so I had to go back. Was expecting the usual sub par service and average food tonight but was so incredibly surprised! We were greeted and seated right away. Within seconds our waiter was there to take our drink order, returned a minute later and took our two Frisco Melt orders. The food was out within 10 minutes if not less. My melt was so good it was like having sex without the work! Foodgasmic! When I flagged our waiter down he was there in a flash with my drink refill. All around a very pleasant experience both food and service wise. A very good turnaround from my previous experience.

This place has gone completely downhill since the last time I visited a year ago. Not only is is SO packed you can barely breathe, the last time I ate here I was up all night sick to my stomache. I called ahead to place an order Saturday night because I knew it was going to be busy ... the man took my order but could hardly hear me after repeating 5 times that I want a side salad with my food. After being oh-so-lovely stuck in traffic, I arrived only to find a line going out the door of people waiting to be seated! I had to EXPLAIN MYSELF to people as I was trying to squeeze through to pick up my food, because I was getting snarls and nasty stares from people who thought I was cutting in line. Really??? Finally got to the counter after scoping out a horrendously busy dining area that I swear, could not have got any more full. The only plus side to this visit was the girl at the counter who was cool, calm and collected about the who situation. I give her props because I would have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. After receiving my order, I seriously couldn't believe they forgot my damn SIDE SALAD!!! I feel bad, I got a little bitchy with the nice girl about telling the gentleman 5 times I wanted a salad. She replaced it right away, and I did apologize to her and let her know I greatly appreciated it. So after fighting to get out, then fighting to get back out of the parking lot I finally was on my way. Got home and couldn't wait to dig in. Started with my salad. Couldn't eat the lettuce pieces, they were soggy and visibly brown!!!! Seriously??? So threw that out. My mushroom Swiss burger was no better. It was thrown together, and so squished that the buns were paper thin. I couldn't even finish it!!! How disappointing. Such a waste if $11. Not only that, I am now up at 4 am sick to my stomache and suffering all because of crappy food made at Steak N shake. Please don't risk your health by going here. I know I will NEVER go back ever again!!

Famous for its milkshakes! So this is what a typical Midwest diner is like! I go the sliders here...along with a Milkshake. Was surprised at how cheap and good everything was. The only knock on this place was the speed of service, our waitress came over after 10+ of sitting down, not to mention the 5 minutes it took to get a seat when there was no crowd. The food came out in another 10 minutes...I'm not sure if it is due to the small town relaxed pace of life here...didn't pay too much attention to it since I was on vacation.

Worst experience ever. While I understand it was a Saturday evening when I went there, it still took ten minutes of standing by the To Go counter and asking two employees if we could order before someone showed up. Ordered a simple order; two burgers, one regular fries and one cheese fries. Banana shake. No big deal one would think, right? HALF AN HOUR to get the food. And it only -finally- showed up after asking for the third time where our food was. Was given a coupon from the employee for us having to wait, only to see later that the coupon cant even be used until the middle of January 2014. Awesome? Went back to our hotel to eat our food. Opened up the bag, no cheese for my fries. Cool. Opened up my burger. Cold slice of cheese on it. Not melted at all. In fact, it was as if the food had been sitting there for at least 28 of the 30 minutes we had to wait for it. Called manager. He was hardly apologetic but said 'whenever you are back in the area, you can come in and get a free burger'. Awesome, but will I have to wait 30 minutes for this one, too? OH. and the women's bathroom is disgusting. While I understand that patrons can be total pigs (I'm looking at you, lady who pooped on the wall in there...) but shouldn't the staff be keeping an eye on that? I felt like I was entering a sewer.

FYI I'm still sitting here.. Took 10min to be seated.. Another 24 minutes to get a server after asking twice! FINALLY we get one and give our drink order.. 10 min later the duggie howser look alike brings it.. We get our chilis and both are cold.. And were stilllll waiting for our burgers to get here.. Never again!!

One of the things I miss about moving away from the Midwest is the abundance of Steak 'n Shakes. Naturally, when I was back in the area I had to dine at one. The menu's expanded since I last ate at a Steak 'n Shake, with more burger and shake options. I opted for the jalapeno crunch burger, and an apple caramel shake. The jalapeno crunch was spicy, meaty, slightly crunchy, with the obligatory amount of grease. The shake tasted exactly like caramel apple and was a hefty portion. Service was decent and our orders came out fairly quickly. So far, Steak 'n Shake is still a favorite of mine!

Haven't gone here often and don't plan on going back. Twice now I have had a bad experience with the food and the service was so bad, too. One time I went through the drive-thru and brought a burger home. It was not fresh and part of it was missing. Had to go back to get another one. Last night it was late in the evening and I went through the drive-thru again. It took forever, but worse, as I pulled up to the window to pay, there was no one there and I waited and waited. I was ready to drive away. I told that to the guy when he finally came and he said, "Hey, I'm doing the work of three people here. I have to make the shakes, take orders and check in the truck in the back." It would have been nice to have someone to greet you and at least let you know what is going on, but if that can't happen, he could have at least said, "Sorry it took so long and you had to wait" instead of arguing with me about it. He apparently made the shake when I placed the order, because it was already half melted. I figured I would put it in the freezer for a litte bit. The hot dog was cold, the bun was disfigured and smushed and wrinkled. Did not look appetizing at all. Yuk. Who needs it!

We got some coupons in the mail, so we thought we'd try this place out. It was packed!!! We gave the manager our names, and then sat down to wait. Lots and lots of minutes later, my hubs goes up to the manager, wondering why a billion people were seated before us, when they arrived after us. Reason: he forgot we were sitting there and crossed our names off the list. Boo! But we were finally seated, and ordered, etc. I had a double cheeseburger with bacon, fries, coleslaw and a cherry coke (the homemade kind). They put waaaaaaaaaaaay too much syrup in the Coke--it was so sickly sweet I couldn't drink it, and forced my hubs to hand over his water. The burger was good, and the fries were average. I don't know, I'm just not down with matchstick french fries. The coleslaw had way too much mayo. But taste-wise, it was decent. My hubs had the guacamole burger, fries, and a chocolate shake. He found his food to be decent, but not overwhelmingly awesome. We didn't pay a whole lot for it, so it was a good value for the money. I may come here again, with my kids in tow.

Well, I guess it's good to know that your experience at one Steak N Shake is almost identical to all other locations. I came here for lunch and it was busy, with lots of kids. For food, I got one of their less than $5 specials: single cheeseburger with bacon and fries + Hi-C. The cheeseburger wasn't as good as the burger I normally get (western bbq bacon cheeseburger) so I may have to stick with what I like. Service was good - he was attentive and came back several times.

Was here yesterday. Its my go to fast food place when Im hungry before the movies. Love their shakes. Not the biggest fan of their fries because I like thicker fries. Havent seen Fall Out Boy here yet. Rumor has it that they come here after their shows. Will be back soon.

Yum! A great place to go after a concert at the Rosemont Horizon, or any time at all. I love their burgers and all of their sandwiches are great. A fun pace with a wide variety of delicious burgers and sandwiches and shakes. Highly recommended!!!

So... my freshman year in college I went to Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal. Downstate, specifically in Bloomington, Steak N Shake reigns supreme for 24-hour dining, cheap eats and insanely good shakes. Whenever I walk into a Steak N Shake, ANY Steak N Shake, I get nostalgic for 1997 when I lived in Normal. I was totally broke, living in the dorms, eating crappy cafeteria food and I would fantasize about Sunday afternoons when I'd meet up with my grammie (who lived in Normal) for a late lunch at Steak N Shake. It was a nice break from the monotony of grilled cheese and toasted raviolis and a good opportunity to see my awesome grandma. Just lots of great memories associated with Steak N Shake. Not much has changed over the years. Burgers are on the slim side so if you're hungry, better make it a double burger. The toppings are all fresh and plentiful. The burgers come with those skinny shoestring fries, which, after a good dousing of salt, are pretty fantastic. And let's be real: You can get a double cheeseburger and fries for under $4. What's not to like? If you're really looking to blow the roof off the calorie meter, get a milkshake. Steak N Shake uses real ice cream and serves up their signature shakes in huge, vintage glasses topped with whipped cream and a cherry. F yes. Awesome. Special shout out to this location for getting my obnoxious party of 6 comprised of me, my mother and her American Idol loving friends in and out and off to Allstate Arena in plenty of time to catch the beginning of the American Idol tour. Yeah, I said it. I went to the Idol Tour. Don't player hate.

Every time I go, I always get good customer service and their food is cheap & delicious. :D Today, we didn't wait long at all, but our server came up to us and apologized about waiting and gave us free shakes. Woohoo! who would hate that? (:

I will begin by saying.. I love Steak N Shake's shakes! It'd be pretty sad if those were a let down considering it's part of their name. They have 1/2 off beverages from 2-4 (pm/am). The food is typical fast food- burgers and fries. The old school diner theme is pretty cute if you decide to eat in. The problem I have with this place is that more than half of the time my drive thru orders are incorrect. Sure I can drive back and correct the mistakes made, but that makes the convenience of the drive tru inconvenient. Even when I only order a shake they forget to give me a straw and I have to ask.. that's a little annoying. I stopped coming for the food because of the disappointing service, but I keep coming back for the shakes because they're great (yum!).

Stopped by here a few months ago after a drunken night out. When we walked in we noticed only one waiter on staff ( who also worked as host and cashier). We sat ourselves and waited for the server. When he arrived you could tell he was going crazy because of how busy it was but he was still trying his best and extremely nice! Also note that it was 1-2 in the morning and every table was full of inconsiderate drunks. The food was normal for steak and shake & the customer service made up for the wait. My friend gave the waiter a $20 tip for being so awesome when he didn't have to. That's when the waiter thanked us over and over because he said almost every table left him nothing for a tip all night. So kudos, usually steak and shake service is horrible.

Don't buy the chicken fingers with fries. Chicken strips literally the size of a finger and you get 3. The fries were cold and like shoe string fries. Just do not waste your time because you'll need time to wait for your meal..even with the place is dead. SMH

My girlfriend and I went to this Steak n Shake this evening, between 6:45-7:00 p.m., and were seated quickly enough. However, no server came to our table to introduce themselves or take our order. We waited more than fifteen minutes without seeing anyone. One waiter brought food to a nearby table but never so much as looked at us even as I tried to get his attention. The restaurant was not very busy, and there were at least three or four employees present, but none came to our table. Finally after waiting at least fifteen minutes, we simply got up and left (completely unnoticed by the staff, I would like to point out). I would have said something to the employee at the register, but you guessed it - there was no one there. Apparently they were all in the back chatting.

3 stars. middle of the road. Be warned... there's somethin about steak n shake's hearty foods that have this strange, sour aftertaste. Really unappetizing. It's in the fries, the onion rings, and even in the grilled chicken sandwich i had. so weird. Maybe i'm tasting the overload of oil? Anyway. I'm a slave to this place since they're the only place in the area that sells REAL food 24hrs. I work night shift and i get so tired of breakfast food when i get out of work. Of course, the shakes never ever disappoint. I love the caramel apple and the banana-chocolate

This place was awful. We ordered burgers, but received carmelized crispy beef patties. The meat was literally burnt on all sides and the meat was so thin that it was like some type of burnt chip. I honestly can't call it a burger. McDonald's regular cheese burger taste better by far. The manager gave me a giftcard to compensate, but I have no intentions of returning.

Wow something has changed at this place. Haven't been here in years and was in the mood for a big juicy burger after returning from Ohare. The waitress was a little clueless. Burger has definitely changed. Not as juicy and the buns aren't as nice. My favorite part was when the waitress dropped my meal in front of me and asked me if I was ready for my shake yet. I responded with NO , I told you I wanted it for desert. She replied, "ok, I'll put it in the freezer for you" ..........sigh........yah, cuz that's what I want to do is rush through my meal knowing that my shake with the wonderful whipped cream is melting and being destroyed the longer I take eating..... The shake came out and sure enough it looked like crap. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

I had to update my review 2 weeks later because I can't believe it takes this long and even longer before management reaches out about an experience. I emailed my review explaining that I was grossed out about the random guac on my sandwich, the smears all over my plates, and the general poor service. It took 3 days to get any sort of automatic email, that isn't this places fault. I was told I would get a call within a few days, I never got said call. I was really annoyed by this whole thing, ESPECIALLY because I love Steak n Shake and this was the WORSE experience I've ever had at any one of them. So I called corporate 3-4 days ago and I tell them "A manager never called me" , she was surprised and responded "They should have gotten in contact with you" and they saw my email and said we'll forward the information over and they will call you. I STILL have not heard anything back from any manager at this establishment. This is even more annoying because this is the closest Steak n Shake to me and I never want to return because it is crystal clear no one working for this location cares about it's loyal customers. Avoid this place and drive to another if you're really in the mood for Steak N' Shake, that's what I'll be doing.

It's burgers and fries. Don't expect to walk in and get an actual steak. This location will put up with you and your obnoxious friends even if you're drunk and rowdy. And the dining room is open 24 hours.

There are some places so good that it makes you want to dance obnoxiously in an old persons face. Well Steak N Shake isn't quite THAT good, but still pretty good nonetheless. Yes, tonight was my very first time at Steak N Shake. We planned to go to the one in Gurnee after Six Flags, but it was far too croweded. So I mentioned the one close to my neighborhood in Rosemont, and we eventually fed our inner grease monster. And if greasy food is what you crave, well they have it here. And one thing I didn't know about Steak N Shake is their menu is pretty extensive. Not just burgers. They have BLT's, club sandwiches, grilled cheese, chili, and so on. Being my first time, I opted for the obvious choice and went with a double steakburger w/fries. Knock your socks off good? Not quite. But as I mentioned, still very good. Burgers aren't super juicy. If anything, maybe slightly over-cooked. But in my burger world, thats better than under-cooked. E-coli is not my thing, folks. I actually enjoyed the thin and crispy fries. I even had some "Frisco sauce" with them (basically just thousand island dressing). It was pretty interesting but not bad. The serivce didn't blow me away but wasn't bad either. Our waiter handled picky requests from the people I was with pretty well. No mistakes, and did a nice job bringing us refills when he saw empty cups. It was slightly busy when we first arrived, so I can't complain too much. Other than the bratty teenagers inside this place, it was a nice way to end the night. Feel kind of silly for never trying Steak N Shake before tonight.

Not sure about the steakburger, but its still a good burger nonetheless - its definitely not lacking in meat since there's plenty of it, along with a good complement of condiments, though it is a bit greasy. Fries are quite decent, and shakes are excellent. The only bad thing is that it takes a long while when dining in, and even longer when going through the drive thru. Despite the wait, still a good burger and great hours (24x7).

I'm a Steak and Shake fan. Steak ans Shake has great burgers, fries, and milk shakes. I also like their "spicy" chicken sandwich. Service at this location is really hit or miss. There are times where I have visited this location and had excellent and friendly service, and other times where I was shown a table and ended up walking out after a half hour of no service. Overall, this location does well, foodwise, but the uneven service knocks this place down to a 3-star level.

Been on a diet and needed a break. HELLO STEAK AND SHAKE!! This place was awesome! I had the Frisco slider (meat, cheese and some thousand island type sauce), onion rings, fries, and a bacon cheese burger. GOODBYE DIET!! I am from the NW where all burger joints have fry sauce...this is the first place in Chicago with anything even close, called Frisco sauce...whats up with that?? Everything I ate was yummy and the service was not bad. They are open 24/7!! Thank goodness I dont live closer or the diet would be no longer.

Steak N' Shake is good for one thing and one thing only. A place to sit down and eat after hours when nothing else but Denny's is open. Even then, it's overpriced when compared to Denny's yet equally shitty. They do have great shakes. Everything else, sub par for the price. Also, never do drive thru! They could go down as the most wasteful user of resources in the fast food world. I got a Chicken Melt with Fries and a regular drink. Also a cup of cheese for my fries that they said was 29 cents but turned out to be 49 cents on my receipt. My sandwich came in a big styrofoam container, my fries came in a cardboard tube, my cheese came in a styrofoam container and my soda came in a big styrofoam cup. They also threw in like 10 oversized napkins all inside a huge "Takhomasak" paper bag, where the spelling reminds me of the native Americans from which our fast food nation was stolen from. The girl at the register was very friendly though. The only reason I didn't flip a shit when i realized she lied (misspoke?) about the cheese price. The sandwich wreaked of genetically altered chicken, over processed cheese and grease saturated bread. The fries are cut really small too so there's more surface area for the grease and salt. The cheese cup... was it even cheese??? The drink was almost too heavy for my cup holder (and my bladder) so I guess I got my money's worth. Steak N Shake is pretty much the epitome of fast food corporate wasteful shittiness. Overall it made me feel like a waste of life and motivated me to stop eating at fast food places even remotely like this, and feel guilty for not bringing a sack lunch to work everyday.

I had to be in the area during the day so I recently tried Steak & Shake for lunch (i.e., sober) for the first time -- and my first time at all in a few years. I was surprised by how bad the fries were but the burgers are excellent.

In the beginning, God created the Burger (and then Steak N Shake perfected it and called it a Steak Burger).... As for fast food burger joints, Steak N Shake runs neck N neck w the newer kid on the block, Culvers, for the coveted top honor in my book. However, they are totally different animals (both the burgers and the restaurants)...if it's a minimalistic steak-burger you crave, this is the place to get it; and perhaps the *only* place to get it. Why there's a "single" on the menu I'll never know, b/c thin is in at Steak n Shake, and you'll need to double up if you want to avoid a 'where's the beef' scenario. The fries? forgetaboutitfantastic ! Shoestring tastiness abounds w. these diner style throwbacks. Besides the "double" you also want to check out their Frisco Melt which is their signature steakburger sat b/t toasted sourdough bread w a tangy dressing to give it some punch....fresh L, T, O and you are set. Finally, the book-end to this namesake: Shake(s). They are hand made w freshly scooped ice cream and milk and pretty much complete in total, your diner inspired eating experience. ...So let it be written, let it be done.

"My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, damn right it's better than yours" Well, the shakes here not only bring all the boys to the yard, but bring everyone else out to Timbuktu (aka Touhy and Mannheim in Rosemont) for some dairy-fied goodness at Steak N Shake. The shakes here are pretty darn tasty, not the biggest variety of flavors but you get whipped cream and a cherry on top, so what's not to love about that??? My favorites are the Holiday shakes, Caramel Apple during Halloween and White Chocolate at Christmas time..but you can't get them all year round, boo for limited time :(. And good news! If you are eating semi-healthy such as the mister and myself, they now offer shakes made with FROZEN YOGURT! Fruit N Frozen Yogurt Shakes at SnS are my new crack, the best is strawberry banana *homer drool* and they actually taste BETTER than their regular shakes! The food here is pretty good too, if you are not *that* into ingesting a greasy steakburger (by the way they are very tasty, just avoiding them right now for the sake of "eating right") they have delicious salads ranging from the beef and cheese fest of the Taco Salad to the lighter Apple-Walnut Chicken Salad with Raspberry Viniagrette. A big kudos to SnS for realizing that yes there are those of us who want to eat better! Soups and sides are yum too, I like the fries here because they are the skinny shoestring type rather than crinkle cut, ugh I hate crinkle cut! They also offer lighter sides such as veggie beef soup and cottage cheese with pineapple ring on top *mmmmm*. Customer service here is better than at most Steak N Shakes. The wait staff is very nice, they don't give you attitude and for the most part are very prompt in serving you. Sometimes I think the food comes *too* fast as we were not even halfway through our soups when we got our entree salads, but no complaints here! I'm sure that at peak times there is a wait but this isn't really "fast food", it is more of a "diner" type establishment. Like all SnS locations, they are open 24 hours so this is one of our go-to places when we are hungry and up late :). And yes, it is VERY clean here...even late at night after an event at the Allstate Arena! P.S. Brush with greatness at Rosemont's Steak N Shake! We spotted Jim Peterik (lead singer of The Ides Of March and founding member of Survivor) eating here after a concert at the Allstate Arena! He was very nice and even told us where he would be performing next :).

This popular burger joint is in a shopping center near the Allstate Arena. My buddies and I enjoyed platefuls of juicy burgers, with sides like fries, onion rings, chili, or salad. There is a variety of frothy drinks like shakes, malts, and orange freezes. There are fun items like "drinkable" sundaes and cheesecakes, and amaze someone by ordering a "side by side" featuring two flavors in the same tall glass. We were not in a terrible hurry during our lunch, but our chipper waitress came over numerous times to check on our dining progress.

Was starving, so stopped in for something quick and inexpensive. Guess you get what you pay for. Service adequate. Server polite but not exactly friendly. Burgers and fries fine as expected. But I asked for veggie beef soup and received chicken noodle, with no explanation. Wanted decaff; server brought pitch-black coffee in mug. After two creamers and two pink packets, coffee was still black. Thought spoon might actually stand up in it! Finally caught server's attention, said this was unfortunately the most bitter coffee I'd ever had. She replied, "So you don't want it?" I said no, could she kindly take it off the bill, and I would just have water instead. She said, "You don't want more coffee?" Well, hell's bells, girlfriend. More of the same? She brought the water and took it off the bill. Saw no attempt to make fresh coffee for anyone else. (Hey, if it hadn't been zero degrees outside, I'd have gone for a shake.) Folks behind us were obnoxious and loud, calling gay people lewd and derogatory names (including themselves), singing Broadway tunes, and tossing their utensils at each other. This went on for a good 20 minutes. Others in the restaurant kept staring at them. Management said nothing. Totally unacceptable! Would not return, based on coffee and rude clients.

It's burgers and fries. Don't expect to walk in and get an actual steak. This location will put up with you and your obnoxious friends even if you're drunk and rowdy. And the dining room is open 24 hours.

If you need a late night snack after the game, this is the place for sliders and a thick shake. Ok, it not as good as In and Out Burger in LA, but it will do in a pinch

4 meals for 4 bucks? You can beat that anywhere. I typically don't go to steak shake or other chain fast food places but there's always an exception. Like, It's 3am and all your friends are hungry. So it's good to know of some 24 hour places that you can show up and get a quick meal before heading home. I've been twice before and service is pretty reasonable and timely. Not sure sure when I'll return but I'll be back sonner then later.

As other have said, can be expensive without coupons. But they have excellent onion rings, good variety of food items, and great variety of shakes. Burgers are fine - haven't had a problem yet. Excellent chicken sandwiches - grilled or crispy. Normal sandwich has 2 pieces of chicken which is great. Fries yes are very thin style - first time trying them and not sure if I like them best, but ok. Recently brought food home. Ordered cheese fries to go and it was normal fries with a cup of that bright orange cheese - my two and half year old could not get enough of it! Ordered cookies n cream shake for hubby which was great and I picked Chocolate Mint - yum! So today I felt like a salad for lunch so I went through drive-thru and used $2 off coupon for the grilled chicken salad. For around $4 - great! Lots of chicken, fresh lettuce/tomatoes/cheese. Bacon and pecans were a nice surprise! I picked Honey Mustard dressing which had nice zip to it! Very nice. So 4 stars. I would give 5 but sometimes there can be a long wait and because of higher cost overall.

I probably needed to try a shake. The food wasn't really very good, but the place is open 24 hours and the service was decent. I didn't like the fact that the only thing between smoking and non smoking is a two foot piece of glass. Luckily it was pretty empty and the smokers were arriving just as I was leaving.

My second favorite burger chain , second to Culvers , but the shakes are oh so better. I come here exclusively for the Bacon double cheeseburger , killer every time. I usually get the fries which are thinner , almost pomme Frites style , very different , very good. I also like the Onion rings from time to time , batter dipped not breaded , I really like 'em. Now to the goods , best shakes ever. I really enjoy the Orange freezes (sherbet shakes?) , all with a little dollop of whipped cream and a cherry. The Vanilla and chocolate ... Just as good ,Fantastic. The prices are way high for fast food , but for food this good , I'll drop $10 if I have to. Inside the restaurant , they actually have a good variety of dishes like patty melts , tuna melts and chilli mac. I wish I could review them , but alas , I only get the Bacon Double cheese, everytime.

So... my freshman year in college I went to Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal.

Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.
Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
McDonalds is the most popular fast food burger restaurant serving different types of burgers in the United States. On the other hand, there are several restaurants such as Burger King are famous for serving the best hamburgers in the United States. Most burger restaurants in the United States often serve hamburgers with French fries and other condiments. If you have a liking for burgers in the United States, then you won't be disappointed. Went in before a Chicago Wolves game and was pleasantly surprised. The service was fast and friendly and the food was served hot.

(4)Rob G.
Frisco Melt is one of my favorite sandwiches, and although they don't advertise a "small" size on the shakes, there is a small.
(3)Joanna H.
(3)Yvonne O.
(4)Jason N.
(3)Justin S.

(1)Doug R.
(2)Matt M.
This is just like any other steak and shake, but for some reason the drive thru does not take nearly as long as other steak and shakes and I like it a little better for it. The food is the same and the shakes are still incredible.

(4)Mark Y.
I love Steak 'n Shake, but a Sunday evening visit to this location with family brought a 15 minute wait without service or acknowledgement. About a dozen tables sat waiting for someone to bus them, just as ignored as we were. We finally left and took our business next door.
(1)Sean H.
(3)Amber J.
Horrible drive thru experience. Clerk kept interrupting my order to tell me to hold on TWICE and I have been in line over 10min. I am from Milwaukee and doubt I will ever return. This food had better be good as all hell
(2)Sandra C.
(1)Michael P.
Their shakes are always good (lots of choices) I love the shoe string french fries. Always hot and crispy. I ordered the double steak burger with cheese and a chocolate shake. A great burger should always have crispy edges. (Unfortunately it didn't today, but) It still tasted good.
(3)Rachel M.
(3)Catherine A.
(1)Jamal A.
(3)Livvy O.

(2)Barb R.
Yum! A great place to go after a concert at the Rosemont Horizon, or any time at all. I love their burgers and all of their sandwiches are great. A fun pace with a wide variety of delicious burgers and sandwiches and shakes. Highly recommended!!!
(5)Anya C.

(1)Anna W.
Was here yesterday. Its my go to fast food place when Im hungry before the movies. Love their shakes. Not the biggest fan of their fries because I like thicker fries. Havent seen Fall Out Boy here yet. Rumor has it that they come here after their shows. Will be back soon.
(4)Michael C.

This is where I went with my wife the first time we met. It wasn't a "date" but we enjoyed a couple shakes together. 6 years to the day, I asked her to marry me at another Steak and Shake near our home in Atlanta. :D

I love Steak 'n Shake, but a Sunday evening visit to this location with family brought a 15 minute wait without service or acknowledgement. About a dozen tables sat waiting for someone to bus them, just as ignored as we were. We finally left and took our business next door.

Went in before a Chicago Wolves game and was pleasantly surprised. The service was fast and friendly and the food was served hot.
(3)David Z.
Food was good as usual service was decent but at 3 am what can you really expect. You can never go wrong with the shakes delicious.

Greetings from Hawaii. I miss you 24 hours opened. I miss you mint cookies n'cream milk shake. Please build one here. -Super Fan.

(3)Amber J.
Horrible drive thru experience. Clerk kept interrupting my order to tell me to hold on TWICE and I have been in line over 10min. I am from Milwaukee and doubt I will ever return. This food had better be good as all hell
(2)Catherine A.
(1)Jamal A.

(2)Michael C.
(4)Lawrence Y.

(1)Anna W.
Was here yesterday. Its my go to fast food place when Im hungry before the movies. Love their shakes. Not the biggest fan of their fries because I like thicker fries. Havent seen Fall Out Boy here yet. Rumor has it that they come here after their shows. Will be back soon.
(4)Barb R.
Yum! A great place to go after a concert at the Rosemont Horizon, or any time at all. I love their burgers and all of their sandwiches are great. A fun pace with a wide variety of delicious burgers and sandwiches and shakes. Highly recommended!!!
(5)Anya C.

(1)Anthony T.
(1)Kelly P.

(4)Rob G.
Frisco Melt is one of my favorite sandwiches, and although they don't advertise a "small" size on the shakes, there is a small.
(3)Joanna H.
(3)Yvonne O.
(4)Jason N.

(1)Kim H.

So... my freshman year in college I went to Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal.
(5)Jessica D.
Every time I go, I always get good customer service and their food is cheap & delicious. :D Today, we didn't wait long at all, but our server came up to us and apologized about waiting and gave us free shakes. Woohoo! who would hate that? (:
(5)Carla G.
(3)Justin S.
(3)Shelby G.
The food was ok... When we finally got it. It took 30 min for us to even get our drinks. The staff is not all that friendly. And this location is not the cleanliest.
(2)Mandy R.
(4)Jackie G.
Don't buy the chicken fingers with fries. Chicken strips literally the size of a finger and you get 3. The fries were cold and like shoe string fries. Just do not waste your time because you'll need time to wait for your meal..even with the place is dead. SMH
(1)John D.
(1)Joelle S.
Never been a fan. But the last time I was there, because my coworkers wanted to go, I got sick to my stomach! Nuff said.
(2)Kat L.
3 stars. middle of the road.
(3)Patty C.
(1)Erin M.
(2)James T.
I love that its open 24 hours a day. We got our food quickly and our server was cool. I wish it was happy hour though. Half price shakes, you can't go wrong with that.
(5)Emy F.
(1)Matt B.
Yeah it's alright at midnight when you're half drunk try the s'more milk shake.wait staff was slow.food came quick but had to wait long time for the milk shakes.may be back for a burger w an egg on it if it's close to where I am drinking at.
(2)Meg X.
It's burgers and fries. Don't expect to walk in and get an actual steak. This location will put up with you and your obnoxious friends even if you're drunk and rowdy. And the dining room is open 24 hours.
(3)Steve W.
If you need a late night snack after the game, this is the place for sliders and a thick shake. Ok, it not as good as In and Out Burger in LA, but it will do in a pinch
(3)Mark G.

This is one of my favorite locations near the Allstate Arena. Service has been great the last few times I've been there as well as the food.

He was very nice and even told us where he would be performing next :).

great meal on the way home from a party! great burgers & i love their fries! the only problem we had was that a waiter never came to our table until we flagges someone down & even tho it wasnt his section, he still took our orders. we never found out who was supposed 2 b our waiter but im glad our guy was nice & helpful.

(3)Patty C.
(1)Lawrence Y.
(4)Mark G.

I love SNS!!! I miss it everyday of my life!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately San Diego can have like a billion more fast food places, but no SNS. I go there every time I fly in to chicago... its def. my first stop out of O'hare :) Plus the people are nice and friendly there. The food is AWESOME!!!!

(4)Joshua M.
I probably needed to try a shake. The food wasn't really very good, but the place is open 24 hours and the service was decent. I didn't like the fact that the only thing between smoking and non smoking is a two foot piece of glass. Luckily it was pretty empty and the smokers were arriving just as I was leaving.
(3)Renato P.
(5)Jonathan K.
its aiiite. i think its more of a nostalgic thing for people who grew up on this. the patties are pretty weak, i expected better but to me BK patties are better than these. the fries are cool cus theyre string fries, but they get cold fast. the milkshakes are good, banana tasted too fake but mixed w vanilla was good combo with the food.
(3)steve c.
SnS is always overpriced unless you have a coupon. This location has mediocre customer service. It is 24-7 and the shakes are really yummy but would recommend a diffeent location for a first timer.

So... my freshman year in college I went to Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal.
(5)Jessica D.
Every time I go, I always get good customer service and their food is cheap & delicious. :D Today, we didn't wait long at all, but our server came up to us and apologized about waiting and gave us free shakes. Woohoo! who would hate that? (:
(5)Carla G.
(3)Shelby G.
The food was ok... When we finally got it. It took 30 min for us to even get our drinks. The staff is not all that friendly. And this location is not the cleanliest.
(2)Mandy R.
(4)Jackie G.
Don't buy the chicken fingers with fries. Chicken strips literally the size of a finger and you get 3. The fries were cold and like shoe string fries. Just do not waste your time because you'll need time to wait for your meal..even with the place is dead. SMH
(1)John D.

Never been a fan. But the last time I was there, because my coworkers wanted to go, I got sick to my stomach! Nuff said.
(2)Kat L.
3 stars. middle of the road.
(3)Erin M.
(2)James T.
I love that its open 24 hours a day. We got our food quickly and our server was cool. I wish it was happy hour though. Half price shakes, you can't go wrong with that.

This is where I went with my wife the first time we met. It wasn't a "date" but we enjoyed a couple shakes together. 6 years to the day, I asked her to marry me at another Steak and Shake near our home in Atlanta. :D

its aiiite. i think its more of a nostalgic thing for people who grew up on this. the patties are pretty weak, i expected better but to me BK patties are better than these. the fries are cool cus theyre string fries, but they get cold fast. the milkshakes are good, banana tasted too fake but mixed w vanilla was good combo with the food.

SnS is always overpriced unless you have a coupon. This location has mediocre customer service. It is 24-7 and the shakes are really yummy but would recommend a diffeent location for a first timer.
