Great Indian Authentic Indian food!

I took home the Dinner Special. 1) There wasn't enough food for $21. There was more white rice (meaning 'filler') than anything else. 2)The rogan josh component.....wasn't rogan josh. It was just bone-in fatty pieces of lamb with virtually no sauce. Most Indian restaurants that are trying to be somewhat upscale will give boneless lamb pieces, in a tasty gravy. I threw this out. 3) The 2 pieces of tandoori chicken were a bit overcooked and dried out. 4) The naan was half dried out and stiff by the time I got home. This is not my usual experience with take-out naan. 5) The rest of the food--dal makhani, chicken tikka, seekh kabab---tasted fine.

you know someplace has to be pretty fantastic for me to go twice in three days. Well I can say that if I hadn't had so many leftovers from my first trek to Maharaja, I'd have been there three times in a row. This time I had the aloo and corn tikki appetizer, which was amazing. For me to be impressed with non-meat dishes is quite a feat. I also had the tandoori chicken pakoras - they've ruined me, I will never be able to eat 'boring American Fried Chicken" again. I tried to save half for the next day, but they pulled me into a fugue of joyful tastiness that I couldn't escape from. Finally, I had the gosht masala (called bhuna gosht on the menu) and I had flashbacks to being a kid and living on this stuff. It was absolutely brilliant. My only complaint is that my stomach isn't big enough to taste everything I want to taste, but I guess that'll just mean more leftovers for me. Lastly, their Gulab Jamun was perfect - warm, sweet, soft and tasty. Served up in a martini glass, it was the perfect finale for an amazing dinner. I hope that i can get through their entire menu before i have to travel home.

"Horrible Service..monkeys can serve better" Reviewed July 11, 2012 NEW i walked in before the others arrived and the guy behind the cashier just pointed at our table..he was too lazy to actaully walk me to the table..i sat there for like 15mins but no one offered me water or anything to eat..even though our reservations were for 730pm they were still fixing up the table...when the group arrived no one offered us menus..instead we had to ask for them..we even had to ask for two high chairs..we got one but had to wait about 45 mins for the other one..no one took our order..we had to ask someone to take our order..they took our small plates before we finished and had to give us another one becuase not all of our food came on time..we had to ask fro papad and on top of that they only gave us one basket between 12 of us..so we had to ask for more..it seemed like we were doing all the work..one of my family member had to get up and get an empty plate because they didnt give us enough..i cant believe that we got this kind of service

I loved everything I had. My wife didn't like the Idlis (spelling?) as much as I did, but we have been to southern India where they soak everthing overnight, etc. My friends were glad they asked for mild. I had medium spicy and thought it was just right for me.

So so. Ambiance is nice. Service was good, but food wasn't up to par. I ordered Lamb Vindaloo, told them I expected it spicy, as a Vindaloo should be, but it came out lame. The Saag Paneer was good. The Nan ok and the Raita watery. Did get the $30 for $20 coupon, but that's no excuse for a watered down Vindaloo which was also rather small.

Recently visited Chicago and had really nice Indian food at MAHARAJA. Food was just amazing and service was really nice and fast. Dal makhani and kadhai paneer was awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant , it makes me remember DELHI ka khana :) yummmy food.. Whenever I am gonna visit Chicago, I will surely eat at MAHARAJA :)

I was a newbie to Indian food before trying Maharaja. I spent a good deal of time on Yelp looking for a restaurant that would provide a good introduction to Indian food. Based on the location, the price, the buffet option, and most of all, the countless positive reviews, I thought Maharaja would be the perfect starting point for me. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I went with my boyfriend on a Friday at around 1:30PM. It wasn't packed like other reviewers described; on the contrary, there was only one small group dining there. Because of this, they had full trays of food sitting out for quite some time - and unfortunately, you could tell that nothing new had been brought out for a while. The whole time we were there, the only thing I had fresh was the butter chicken, which was quite good. There were other things that you could tell would have been absolutely delicious if they weren't sitting out for so long, like the mango ice-cream and the tandoori chicken. The naan was the saving grace of the meal. The good news is, it looks like my experience is not typical of Maharaja. Maybe it was an off-day. Regardless, I probably will not go back there - at least not for their buffet. It's a shame because it is only about 5 minutes from my house and I really, really wanted to like it.

I guess there is a second yelp page for this restaurant under 'Maharaja Restaurant'. I wrote a review there, which I am also posting here. I'm a fan of this place! We have been here three times this month. They are not vegetarian, but they are so accommodating for those who are. Our server, Rocky, was THE BEST! He even brought my niece a linen to wrap herself with when she was freezing in the AC, as we had forgotten her sweater. The food is delicious, & the buffet is a great value! Great addition to this neighborhood which has so many corporate chain restaurants like Fridays, Ram etc.
(4)Keith P.
Outstanding Indian Food accompanied by great service. Had the Bhel Puri and Aloo and Corn Tikki with Chana to start. Sweet/savory and spicy goodness respectively. Followed by Chicken Garlic Kabab and Goan Fish Curry . Garlic and coconut to die for. Don't miss the breads! Topped off by a Flying Horse and life is good! Will be back..,.

Went to eat dinner here today just very last minute because we ended up buying the groupon now for it. We ordered the: Paneer tikka-nicely done, but I would have preferred it to be cooked a little more Crispy baby corn- I love love love crispy baby corn so this is inportant to me to have it done right. The crispy baby corn was nicely breaded ( Bamboo Garden doesn't seem to bread theirs as much, but theirs a little crisper which I like). Overall had good spices. Services was very good. The place looked very nice and clean. Overall I was happy to go to this place since it was so close to home!
(4)Chris K.
This review is based on the buffet style that they offer during lunch hours. Overall the buffet is fantastic. It has a lot of options for people who are vegetarian or not. The staff is very friendly and tend to your needs whether that is a refill on a glass of water or having fresh Naan on the table. I highly recommend this place in terms of the buffet, but have yet gone here for the sit down option. Also in terms of customer service my coworker asked the manager I believe when the carrot pudding would be in stock. That manager brought out a cup of fresh carrot pudding. Honestly just a terrific place. And finally it is great to see a delicious Indian food restaurant in Rosemont, IL.

Dont read reviews and get cheated like me, BEWARE !!!! Check your food before carry out they gave red meat (might be beef) Biryani for chicken Biryani and they dont have moral responsibiliy. ** THINK BEFORE YOU EAT ** ** IF RELIGIOUS Concern about BEEF THINK ** ( I got red-meat Biryani dont know which one.

Horrible customer service by manager. Food was decent. I had a Groupon $60. The manager only removed $6 off my bill. I will be contacting Groupon for this as well as my CC company. Our bill was $82 for two persons and I landed up paying $76 on my card despite my $60 Groupon!!!

Let me start by saying that I am Indian and this wasnt Indian food. My husband and I went to Maharaja after reading all the good reviews on yelp and I have to say that this is the first time ever that yelp has disappointed me. There was a lunch buffet and we thought that it would be greasy food but it was worse!!! There were dahiwadas that are supposed to be lentil balls in yoghurt...it tasted and smelled of petrolatum. I dont know how the restaurant accomplished it but that was the nastiest thing that I have ever put in my mouth. Next were the pakoras which were tasteless and hard. The utthapam was dry and hard. We decided to give the vegetables a try and they were the standard fare...greasy and generally tasteless. The hakka noodles didn't taste like anything. So foregoing the meal, we checked out the dessert. After a few spoons of the mango ice cream, we spotted tiny hairs in one of the bowls!!! We asked the server to notify the manager who took 15 mins to show. When he finally came over, we pointed out the hairs and his response was that he cant see them!!!! Then he picked up the bowl and took it over to the kitchen. After waiting another 15 minutes, the server came back for payment. We paid for the food but told the server to change the ice cream and his response was that the manager will take care of it. While leaving, the manager smirked at us and asked if we would like to have some more ice cream!!!! I dont believe the ice cream was changed at all. I was not expecting a 5 star buffet for $10 but I have the right to expect decent food prepared in sanitary conditions. If yelp had negative starts, I would give them -5 stars. No service, rude and inhospitable manager, terrible food and unhygienic conditions is how I describe this place.

Maharaja is a gem. Service was wonderful, food was delicious and atmosphere was quiet.

Just not very good. One of the least satisfying Indian restaurants I've eaten in.
(1)Restaurant Vigilant E.
Just recently opened, from the outside, one could easily miss Maharaja, tucked away in a little strip mall. While non-descript on the outside, inside, the place is chic and trendy, with a subtle Indian flare and understated opulence (crystal chandeliers). While one could wear jeans to Maharaja, they wouldn't feel out of place in a suit either. The service is quite attentive and friendly - though the two top table we sat at was pretty small. Not sure as it was any smaller than any other two top, but for some reason it felt smaller. We started off with the lamb samosa's. The pastry shell was absolutely amazing and the lamb filling was...ok. It was a little dry and tasted more like pure lamb meat than the spiced lamb filling I was expecting. That pastry shell though...amazing! We ordered lamb vindaloo...it (and the other dish we ordered) came in these very class copper bowls. They looked small and I wondered if we had ordered enough food - in the end though - it was plenty and we didn't finish everything. The vindaloo was fantastic and upon ordering, the server asked us how spicy we wanted it...we of course said whatever was appropriate (no need for them to tone it down for the American palate - we are adventurous and value authenticity). Still, it is nice to know that they are willing to cater to taste, so that more people are able to enjoy the food. We ordered palak paneer....this stuff ROCKED...it was sort of swimming in ghee (clarified butter)...but it did not appear off-putting and tasted amazing. My only complaint, and I sort of knew this would happen when I first saw it...that much ghee...it has the potential to cause a sour tummy if you catch my drift...however, the dish was amazing and totally worth the "hit" I took about an hour later...hmmm, can't believe I just wrote that, but better to be open and honest I guess. The garlic naan - normally, you order it at a restaurant and hardly know there is garlic on it...this stuff, perfect! So awesome! I wanted to order additional dishes, but was too full to reasonably do so...next time I go, it will be for the lunch buffet and I will destroy it!!!! There are so many things I wanted to try on the enormous menu, but what we had was absolutely awesome and fantastic. I don't know as you'll want to bring your grandma from Minnesota or someplace to this restaurant - one really needs to have some experience with Indian food, cause this place seems pretty authentic to me (in my Scots-Irish opinion)...my Indian/Pakistani friends share this view though and they have considerably more experience with this type of food. All in all, I would highly recommend Maharaja...it is as good, if not better than any of the other Indian restaurants I have been to from a food stand point, with better service and a nicer environment. Price points were comparable to the market, possibly a dollar below. Our bill for two people (no alcohol) was about $45.00. Hard to decide whether to give it 4 or 5 stars...in the end, it was the over-use of Ghee (clarified butter) in the Palak Paneer that busted them down to 4 stars...excellent though!!!
(4)David F.
I went here awhile ago when I was looking for some new place to take my girlfriend on a nice date. I hit gold with this place. The tandoori chicken was sinfully good. For an appetizer we had pan fried cheese and it was also really good. Now that I think about it, everything was really good! Depending on what you get can be a little pricey but the quality is there and at the end of a meal that's all that matters.

Welcome to Maharaja where everything you order for dinner comes a la carte. Although the food is your standard Indian fare there was nothing setting this restaurant apart from other Indian restaurants. It is pretty standard Indian cuisine. Save your money for a much better dinner experience. Dinner is pricey and not worth the cost. Dinner = 3 stars. Instead, go here for the lunch buffet. Lunch buffet = 4 stars due to the variety, quality and fresh ingredients. Maharaja has been opened for approximately one year. What sets it apart from other Indian restaurants is the decor. It is obvious that a lot of thought was put into the design of the restaurant interior. Although the Greek columns located in the rear of the restaurant and wedding banquet hall chandeliers did not appear to fit the rest of the decor. Thus, a bit confusing to say the least. Our server never cracked a smile. Different sauces were brought to the table without an explanation of what was what. We were disappointed. Our server was very serious and matter-of-fact when taking our order. He had no personality whatsoever and displayed minimal customer service skills. We wondered if he was having a bad day or if he really hates his job. Whatever! We ordered appetizers (samosas and something else which I cannot recall -- I guess because it was not very memorable). Not every dinner brings bread, so when our basket of bread arrived we were excited since we were super hungry. The bread was freshly made, fluffy, soft and very, very warm to the touch. Unfortunately, most of the bread was burned on one side. One could really taste the burned part of the bread. Another disappointment. The non-burned bread, which only existed of a few pieces, was at the very bottom of the basket. We had to dig through the burned bread for a while to get to the non-burned bread. We ended up going back for the lunch buffet, which we found to be excellent. The food is freshly prepared, the quality of the ingredients outstanding and the variety is excellent. They can easily charge $12 for the lunch buffet, but they do not. The price is right. Will we return for lunch again? Yes. Will we return for dinner again? No. RECOMMENDATIONS: Butter chicken, Garlic chicken kabobs, Chicken Tika

We drove into Chicago to catch an early morning plane from O'Hare airport. I know it is hard to not stop in for a deep dish Chicago pizza when you are in the windy city, but we opted to hunt up an Indian restaurant instead. We looked at the reviews on Yelp and settled on Maharaja - it was an easy choice with a 4-1/2 star rating located less than a mile from our hotel. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, kung pao chicken, naan and steamed rice. The food was excellent! I have been to India multiple times over the past several years and this food was on par with the best food I have had in India - - - very authentic and very tasteful. The tikka masala is more mild (not spicy "hot"); the kung pao chicken had some kick behind it as you would expect it to. The naan was hot, fresh and very good. The service was excellent as well. We would definitely recommend dining here.

So, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Indian food. By far the best cuisine for me. I'm at a trade show (I feel your envy...) and found that this place delivers! Killer. The guy on the phone was super duper nice and the food came quick, and I'm getting "the eye" from people all around 'cause it smells that good (and tastes fabulous, too!)
(5)Brian A.
With the help of the yelp community I was able to find a great little Indian restaurant tucked away in between to freeways in chicago's rosemont neighborhood.
(4)Bill B.
Superb service and food.great flavors. Would eat there again
(4)Carne A.
We were at O'Hare looking for a quick bite away from the airport and are glad we found this place!! It is only a 15.00 cab ride away each way but worth it if you love Indian food and don't want fast food crap. The place is clean, service was attentive and food phenomenal. I recommend the Butter Chicken and Chicken Vindaloo, standard fare but the taste was amazing. The naan we had was Onion Kulcha and done to perfection, not burned like some places. AND there were lots of Indian people eating there. Very happy w this experience all around.
(5)LM W.
We have had dinner and lunch here in the past two weeks. Beautiful deco. Fast, attentive service. The buffet is a bargain for the quality and variety of food choices. Food is fresh, and the most delicious I have ever had. I will bring friends, family, clients, and anyone who has never had Indian food---they will easily find something they can't wait to try and then have again----they'll LOVE the delicious, exotic, savory, aromatic spices and amazing flavors!!
(5)Gerry D.
Went here after work Sunday night and dined sufficiently! I was happy that no one was in there at 9 oclock. I had the chicken tikka marsala, kheema naan, samosas and kheer. The food was excellent and it didnt take long. Very polite and professional staff.
(5)Tony D.
This was a nice resturant with good food and service. I just wish my stomach was feeling better before going to the resturant because I would have tried more of their food....especially the desserts. Very clean inside.
(5)Nicole U.
Exceptional food, service, atmosphere. Truly a hidden gem, as I passed by here many a times and never knew it was there. My friend is having her wedding catered from Maharaja, and brought us in to see how wonderful it was. She gave us some tips on what to order, and a "secret" rice that is not on the menu :) was quite good although of course I cannot remember what it's called! Being vegetarian, Indian food has a great selection for me. So happy my friend introduced me to this place!!
(5)Rajhans S.
One of the better indian places out there. I, as an Indian, am often vary of going to Indian restaurants as they're often greasy and often worse at buffets. But the food here was surprisingly good -- fresh and not oily. On top of it, very reasonable.
(5)John S.
Dinner - exquisite. Almost as good as the best indian restaurants in San Francisco, and that's saying something! The fish curry and fish masalla are terrific, as is the tomato soup. Lunch - $9.95 buffet, very tasty, with large selection. Can't be beat. One small advice - if you don't like onion and/or garlic, don't order the nan sampler. Too much of that stuff there.
(5)Mod V.
I would give them 5 stars, but it took 20ish minutes until we got our naan. The food was amazing, probably one of the larger Indian buffets that i've been to.
(4)Sonia L.
I rarely feel motivated by a restaurant enough to write a review. The only reason this one even gets one star is for the decor. And that's it. Service was just average. Now the food. No flavor, no nothing. It was an insult to Indian cuisine. No zaika no swad. Being Indian....all I will say is that this restaurant is good for non-indians or for you lost desi brothers and sisters.
(1)Alexis M.
My coworker and I came here a few weeks ago on a whim. The food was delicious! Not too spicy either. The servers were very polite. I would have liked for the signs near the food to be more legible. It was hard to read the name or description of what you were eating. Aside from that, I will be returning for more. You can't beat a $9.95 lunch buffet so bring your appetite!
(5)MK D.
Yummy food!!! Very authentic Indian cuisine! I like the modern decor and the service was good. Great for large groups or intimate dinner. We need more diversity of restaurants in Park Ridge!
(4)Melissa L.
Randomly found this restaurant on Google maps & am surprised to find this amazing restaurant! Great selection on menu, delicious food, great service, good prices and nice ambiance. Will definitely return!
(5)Raja R.
Good food. Rogan josh was excellent.

I found my new favorite Indian restaurant! Well, actually, I never had one before. I always settled for sub-par Indian where I usually stuck with a few items on the menu, or just went without. On 10/14 I was checking Groupon for any deals for Indian, and luckyly found Maharaja, which was offering a one night dinner deal. I usually am weary of places that offer deals, figuring they need to drum up business for a reason. Yet when I checked out their Yelp reviews, I was sold. The location is in a nondescript strip mall near many business parks, and O'Hare airport. Tt wasn't very impressive on the exterior, but when you enter, it's very quaint, nicely appointed, and most importantly extremely clean. We were warmly welcomed, and sat in a fairy busy dining room, all the while, maintaining a noise level was very pleasant. When it came to order, my guest and I, both requested recommendations, and our server was more than happy to oblige. I ordered Lamb Vindaloo, and Tandoori Roti, and my guest had ordered the Goat Biryani, and Garlic Naan, with Samosas for our appetizer. They also not only willing, but happy to cater to my dairy allergy, and our server had made certain that the utmost care was taken (on everything but the garlic Naan, which was for my guest). When the food arrived, it was hot, and arrived promptly. I was again assured that care was taken, regarding my dairy allergy (I appreciate being put at ease). My Lamb Vindaloo was pleasantly sweet, and had a nice slow burn on the back of my palette. The spices in both dishes were nicely done, and aromatic throughout, rather than sharp and raw, something which I experienced in many Indian places I have dined at prior. The food was rich, and flavorful, but still being light, and non-oily. Many times while eating Indian, the food does not sit well in my stomach, however, after our meal I felt content, and was able to get dessert about an hour later. If anyone actually got this far, you'll notice no mention of our Samosas. This is because there was an obvious mix-up, and they were never ordered, or made. I let the (I'm guessing it was a bus boy) know, and he told our server. We had to wait about 7 minutes after our main course was served, however, the wait was worth it. The manager (?) came to our table, and let us know that they were on the house, but I would have been more than happy to have paid for them. These were absolutely the best Samosas I have ever had, and I'm guessing it's because I've never had a fresh one before. The potatoes were light, and perfectly seasoned, and they had just enough peas to complement everything else. Again, they were not oily, and were perfectly cooked. The great thing about this place is that it is run, and employed by people who care. Everything from the management, to the chef, owners, and bus boys exclaimed pride in what they do, and they sure do it well.
(5)Ben K.
First time customer. Went here for dinner with family based on Yelp reviews. I ordered the Chana Masala with Basmati Rice and my parents got the Chicken Tikka. The Chana Masala was the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. It was absolutely perfect, especially when mixed with the rice. The ambiance at the restaurant was excellent, the service was FAST and friendly. SO GOOD MY MOUTH IS WATERING THINKING ABOUT IT! Location is a bit weird--it's in a strip mall. But damn, the food and service were top-notch.
(5)Carolyn K.
They have excellent Chicken Tikka Masala but don't expect to get much of it... The portions served for both take out and dine in are very small. I would say just about right for one semi-hungry person but not a spoonfull more. I suppose I am used to my other Indian restaurant which gives me enough food to feed two people and still have left overs! The quality of the food was good, just don't expect quantity. And make sure you order a dinner per person, you will be short quite a bit of food if you decide to split. Hey Maharaja!!!.. Please give us more food or lower the price of your entrees a couple bucks!... Honestly, if it were not for the 50% off groupon's that we are able to score, I don't think I would spend the money. One more complaint, the music is a bit too loud and fast paced.. I want to relax and eat!!.. I felt as if I should maybe be dancing on the tables instead.. :P :) This all being said, don't let me keep you away from this place! The overall feel of the interior is really nice and the service was pretty good. Tons of parking and it appears that this establishment is closed from 3pm to 5pm during the week. So just a heads up on that! I have not tried their buffet yet but I do look forward to it! Grab a Groupon and GO!
(3)Irm C.
The food is excellent and the Goan dishes were very tasty. The lunch buffet is great and economical.
(4)Ramya P.
Great value!! This is a review of the buffet that they serve daily for lunch. I'm so glad I found this place on yelp 'cuz neither my family nor any of our friends had ever mentioned about Maharaja. Me n Dushy, my husband decided to give it a try when, on a Sunday morning we were feeling gluttony. Skipped breakfast and drove there a little after 12pm (its when they open) so we can eat when everything in the buffet is fresh. The buffet was pretty typical except for a few options that were unique, like the dahi papdi chat, its a dish that has crispy ingredients in yogurt and other condiments. I was surprised that the crispy papdi wasn't soggy at all. And the highlight was the pani puri, Wow!! Its been so long since I had such a great tasting pani puri, that it instantly took me back to my school days when I would hog on street food. The rest were common dishes that you can find in any other Indian buffet but were delicious nonetheless.
(4)Jonny S.
Very tasty find out near Ohare. Wife and I were taking advantage of a Yelp Deal so we really pigged out. Always a good sign when you walk into an Indian restaurant and you see several folks of Indian descent eating there. Before ordering we were given fresh papadum that was crisp and tasty and served with hot (green) and sweet (brown) chutney. Probably one of the better hot chutneys I've had. We were also very excited to see that they have Chicken 65 as an appetizer...a wonderful dish that sadly our local Indian restaurants don't offer. Also got some paneer tikka which came out sizzling and tasty. I loved my Lamb Vindaloo and my wife enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Masala. She says she's had better, but it was still extremely enjoyable. Got a bread basket of assorted naans and kulchas which were very good. The décor of the restaurant is classy yet understated. The staff was very friendly. Only complaint was that they didn't ask how spicy we wanted our dishes (we like our stuff super super spicy).
(4)Leang E.
We stopped in during the week of the grand opening, and it was a hopping place. We had gotten a take out menu the week before and was pretty excited about trying it out with a lunch special menu of $6.99. I hadn't seen any Indian lunch specials for that price in the area so we thought this will be a nice option to have in the future. We came with the intent to try out the lunch special, but after looking at the buffet and then hearing that the price of the buffet was $9.99 we decided that it was an awesome deal and we had to try it out. They had a great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. There was fruit, salad, tamarind and a yogurt sauce, a fried vegetable and samosa mix, chili chicken and chili vegetarian, chicken tikka masala, goat curry, hasam noodles, rice, and palak paneer, mango kulfi, gulab jamun, and more. The lunch menu also had some southern indian food as well. After we had gotten food, there was tandoor chicken and garlic naan on our table. The food was delicious. The interior had a stylish look and there was plenty of staff to help with service. The owner walked around to make sure people were enjoying themselves and was very friendly. We were able to pay for our meal quickly, we were stuffed, and we ended up waddling our way back to the car.

Sure, it doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside, Maharaja is a gem of an indian joint. The servers are extremely friendly and nice - not to mention fast. Our food came out very quickly and was cooked just right, and it was tasty, too. I'm not a huge connoisseur of Indian food, but I know what I like and I like this food, atmosphere and service.
(5)Jen c.
This is the best Indian food I have ever had!!! Totally worth it! owners friendly as well.

Quick update......after a second buffet/lunch trip to Maharaja, I have decided that this will be our go-to place for Indian food from now on. We went on a Saturday again and, even though some buffet items had changed, everything was just as excellent. Can't wait to try them for dinner.

Good stuff! Just like someone commenting before, I've used the Groupon Now a few days ago to have dinner with my husband there. We've had Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Garlic Naan and Mango Lassi. Everything was really good (I'd have to say it was even better than some renowned Devon places). The chicken in Butter Chicken was fresher than in most places we've been to but still not as fresh as it could have been and that's the reason for bumping a star off. Otherwise, the food was hot, spicy and delicious. It came out fast and the service was very attentive. I liked that the Mango Lassi they gave me was not ice-cold as it usually is in other places. It was chilled but not icy- good balance. I will definitely come back, especially to try to buffet. Our bill for all those things was around $40 before the Groupon, so the price is not horrifying. Not dirt-cheap but not breaking the bank either.

I went there for the lunch buffet. As with most buffets, there were winners and losers. Thankfully, there were more winners than losers. Interestingly, the decor looks straight out of 1985. Seriously, the place could be the set for some LA Law episode. Not necessarily a bad thing, but just be ready to time travel. As for the food, overall it was good. The lentil soup was pretty tasty. The veggie korma was really tasty. The stand out was the butter chicken. It was pretty flavorful, and the chicken was tender. The only epic fail on the line was the curry chicken. The chicken was still boned, so you were picking small bones out of every bite all the time.

Wow!! My first five star rating. My dinning partner and I could not find anything lacking about this establishment. We ordered chicken tiki Marsala , paneer sag, a lamb dish recommended by our fabulous waiter, garlic nan bread. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The place is neat and clean. Staff was extremely friendly. Food arrived quickly. I think we were the first dinner customers and before leaving, the place started getting busy. I have had great Indian food elsewhere in and out of the U.S. and can say this ranked with the best. We did not have room for dessert and since we are airline pilots flying home tonight, did not order any beer or wine. I think I spotted imported Indian beer in a cooler. Prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food. Anyway, this place is fabulous!

Been here a few times... lunch buffet and dinner a couple times. The interior is decent but not amazing...the food is decent.. and The service needs work. A lot of work. Maybe it's a language barrier... or the fact that a group of 6 is larger than what I normally roll with... but felt like.the most recent dinner thing had a lot of hiccups that it should not have had... standard water filling and bringing containers and splitting the bill as requested early on. Had to be handled manually and very micromanaged... by moi. Super annoying y'all... I setup these things and my events go smoooth.. or else. :-/ Anywhoo... I don't think the trek to Rosemont is worth it... the Fish Tikka I had was okay... not remotely worth $18 though. Garlic Naan and Aloo Parantha was good... the Basmati Rice as well... but you can get the same in Schaumburg or Hoffman (India House) for lower prices so... meh.

We have eaten there several times before and always enjoyed ourselves but tonight's experience was just short of shameful to the restaurant . An argument that lasted for over an hour at our neighboring table between 12/14 local businessmen that led to several walk outs totally spoiled our meal. The staff ignored us as they were too busy watching the childish behavior of these grown men. They also refrained from mentioning the 18% tip automatically included so made off with a double whammy without so much as a thank you or good bye or apology for the sometimes threatening behavior encroaching close to the ladies at our table. They've lost my business and the business of all of our guests and friends for good.... So so disappointing .....
(1)Sebastian C.
Very good food with a variety of choice. The service is brief but sufficient. A waiter has pointed us to the buffet and said that you can eat as much as you can for 9.99 (excluding tax). Great!. There were about 15-25 dishes ranging from Basmati rice to a variety of Curry and deserts. All very good and not super extra spicy - which was good since sometimes these are uneatable (depending on the taste of course :-)). I have had a sample of everything, there vere meat and vegetable currys, all good and tasty. Naan and rice are also tasty - not dry and not too moisty - just right. Since I love indian food if I'm ever in the neighbourhood I will definitely go back again. It is good, scrumptious, cheap and waiters don't look at you every 3 minutes. What else is there to want. Additionally it was remarkably acceptable to my stomach.

Absolutely wonderful! We went here for our friend's birthday on a Sunday evening. It was our first time and we super excited since we had read such positive reviews. They surely didn't disappoint!!! Food and service were stellar!! Their chicken tikka was to die for! My husband loved his tandoori chicken! Everything was perfect.

My friend lives in the city and this happened to be the perfect in between dinner spot for us to meet up. This has been our go to spot ever since. Oddly enough our favorite Indian restaurant during college was also named Maharaja. I tend to use the Groupon most times but would definitely go without it. The menu is typical of most other Indian restaurants. I have tried almost all of the vegetarian options on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Mali Kofta is my favorite! The bread basket is also a must! They include rice with most of the dishes which is nice since I have been to a number of restaurants that charge extra for rice. I haven't been to their lunch lunch buffet in a while but last I remembered it offered a good variety of food for a affordable price. The restaurant is rarely packed so it can be a nice and quiet dinner spot. Ample parking and very close to the airport.

This place is WOW !! its a awesome place for an afternoon buffet. Food is always hot and very tasty. The staff is very friendly and they were cleaning up qucik too. I would totally go here again .. well we have already been here thrice but will go back again. !!!
(5)F T.
Ordered Dal Makhani, Butter chicken and their bread basket. Dal Makhani - Good (3 stars) Bread Basket - Very Good (They added a complementary rice portion.(5 stars) Butter Chicken - Worst thing I ever tasted in my life. I wasn't even sure if it was chicken. I had to spit it out right after the first bite. (negative 6 stars)

This restaurant is located minutes away from O'Hare airport. Decided to go for lunch here after a mid morning flight. They had buffet going for $9.95 per person. Some dishes were a hit while some missed the mark. The plus was they do bring out fresh naan from the kitchen. The service was prompt and courteous. The ambiance is tired looking, needs some remodeling. Not a bad place for an inexpensive lunch.
(3)Neal M.
First of all my review is solely based upon the Lunch Buffet, they Are located right down the street from my work, so that's the only time we have been there. I have been here probably 10- times over the past 2 years. Service is always great, and comes with a smile, everyone is polite and on top of cleaning plates, getting drinks and fullfilling your requests.. This is the BEST Indian lunch buffet I have ever had, best variety of entrees, and the flavors are wonderful. I have left other indian buffets in the past thinking the flavors were all very similar, nothing special. I remember the desserts tasting like smelly feet at the other places. yuck! Then we tried this new Maharaja place. No kidding, I have changed my opinion, I now LOVE Indian food. The Nan is light, warm and fluffy, the tandori is good, the Butter Chicken is the best I have had.. If you are and Indian food fan, you MUST try this place. And if you are not or have had bad experiences in the past with other indian buffets, you NEED to go here, they will change your mind. Thank you Maharaja! Keep up the good work and I will keep coming back and bringing my friends with,
(4)Khushi S.
We went there with groupon. Dinner cost was reasonable. Dinner was delicious. Interior is nice. Would go again & recommend to friends.
(4)Matt S.
Actual authentic food is here.... no Americanization! Maharaja has the goods. The food menu is large and has variety. There are vegetarian and meat appetizers and a sampler platter exists for each. Entrees include chicken, lamb, seafood, and vegetarian items. An entree sampler is another option where you can get all the meat they have to offer! These samplers are very nice if you don't know what to get or are not familiar with Indian cuisine. Although the food is delicious, it is a bit pricey. Average cost of entrees will set you back ~$16.00. A lunch and weekend buffet is offered and is ~$11.00. There are a few Indian beers but no Indian cocktails though. Drinks are tasty and not watered down. Maharaja is a somewhat smaller place but has an elegant ambiance. Soft Indian music plays in the background but the place can get pretty quiet. When emptier, you can hear the conversations of everyone in the restaurant. Bathroom is classy but has an odd rubber-like smell. A very small bar, like one that can be found in a home, is in the corner of the place. There are a few bar stools there but I wonder if people come in there just for drinks or to hang out? Staff was attentive but didn't exactly interact with customers in a bubbly manner. Not that that's completely necessary but they're all business it seems. Overall a very good experience and would recommend to anyone that enjoys Indian food or wants to try something a little bit different.
(4)Neel K.
Excellent Indian food. Tried the matter paneer and the paneer khadhi and both were excellent. In addition the samosa, puri, and garlic naan were all very good. Will definatley be back.
(4)Poonam M.
One of the best place to have Indian lunch buffet at an inexpensive price. They have lot of vegetarian options and desserts are good too! It gets quite busy for the buffet and so its better to arrive early.
(4)Nichole T.
Hidden in a strip mall, this place is the real deal. Very quiet inside and even though it has a semi fancy decor, it's very casual. Waiters and busboys very attentive. The food is very good. The tandoori chicken was just par but the tikka masala or the butter chicken was excellent as was as the veggie samosas, nan and rice. Watch yourself with the vindaloo-extremely spicy but delicious. Not recommended for noisy little kids like mine. :-) I can always tell if a restaurant is authentic by the patrons. For instance Indian restaurant with a lot of Indian patrons = good sign. And this place always has many Indian families dining. Bottom line, authentic Indian food with lots of flavor in a quiet atmosphere with attentive servers.
(4)Shelly M.
I ordered the butter chicken which was delicious! I would suggest ordering the butter chicken and nann. My boyfriend ordered the lamb curry, which was okay, but did not compare to the butter chicken. Their food is great, but dinner is pricey. Their service is not great, the servers are not friendly. When I asked about an entree, I was not given the information that I was looking for. I would go back for the butter chicken, but would do carry out.
(4)Arvindram R.
Went in here couple of times with the Yelp Deal, Food was Good, the owner is a friendly dude who likes to cater to Indian taste buds but the downside is the price for instance $16.99 for a chicken dish almost double the rate.
(3)Jan-Erik Z.
Unplanned overnight stay in the Chicago area so I thought why not take advantage of some good(hopefully) ethnic cuisine. Since I love Indian food but don't eat it often, I found this place through a dining rewards network I belong to and was pleasantly surprised. Even though I normally order the chicken tikka masala, I always find it slightly different at individual Indian restaurants. It was very good and I would strongly recommend it. I started off with an appetizer I've never had before, the Bhel Puri, which was really good but certainly enough to split. The atmosphere was nice and appeared very clean. The staff were friendly and very attentive. If you are a red wine drinker, try the Shiraz from India ... also a pleasant surprise. The Kheer was a great dessert to top of the meal. Would definitely suggest this place if you are in the neighborhood. Ciao!
(4)Tink P.
We were in town to go around Chicago. ..and we saw this amazing buffet place near the airport. We have only tried the lunch buffet here... The lunch buffet not only came with a good number of choices but also sizzling tandoori chicken and hot hot naans...lip smackingly delicious. ... The place was clean. ..service pretty good for a buffet. ..will go there again if back in Chicago and m craving Indian food... Food -- 5 Stars Hospitality/Service - 5 Stars Cleanliness - 5 Stars Location - 4 Stars Overall - 5 Star for me...
(5)Linh L.
Came here using the Yelp deal. The different curries we had were really good. The menu is so big and we didn't know what to order so we went with the dinner special which featured assorted dishes. I like that -- not having to decide all the time.
(4)priyanko b.
Not the best Indian food in Chicago, not the worst - it was ok.
(3)Ericka A.
The food was easily 4 stars. However, the service was a solid 2 stars. I will definitely come back to give them another shot and I really want to try the $9.95 buffet. Their food was not the best I've had in Chicagoland, but it was up there with some of my favorites and priced reasonably. The Northwest Suburban Dinner Group met up for a 7pm dinner on a Tuesday and they honored our reservation. A table was waiting for us in the back corner and we were greeted and seated immediately. A few of our members did not show, so I think they might have been waiting before getting to our orders. They gave us water quickly but didn't bring out the complimentary "chips" and dip until a good 15 minutes into our dining experience. Also, a few of the water glasses on our table were dirty, but they replaced them when they went to fill them up. Everyone who was coming had arrived within those initial 15 minutes and we were ready to order but had to wait. Our waiter finally came around and we ordered appetizers which came out quickly. However, we had to wait quite a while again to order our main dishes and it took a bit of time to get those as well. But it was worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Khadai and Bhuna Gosht. Both were flavorful with a hint of hot spice. I was a little disappointed that neither came with Rice, but the entrees are cheap enough that ordering a side of Rice or Garlic Naan doesn't make it much more expensive than getting a meal that includes that at other Indian restaurants in the area. We finished off the meal with a Kheer dessert. I liked it, but I've definitely had better. Next time I will probably stick with the Mango Lassi or Mago Kulfti as my treat. Mike O told me that both were very delicious. At $42 for two people after tax and tip, it wasn't too bad of an experience. I would say their prices are standard and the food is worth it.
(3)Ian M.
Everything was very good. Did not know what to expect from the steet view. I was pleasently surprised.
(4)Edward W.
Looked at the Yelp reviews. Seriously. Are there no other Indian restaurants in Chicagoland for perspective? 2.75 stars. Lunch buffet. Went to Maharaja against my inner voice that reasoned that buffets are (at best) mediocre 99% of the time. In this regard Maharaja does not disappoint. I also remembered that my mother once said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." Thanks, mom. So... The naan was good and they filled my water glass a lot. Oh, and there's a Dunkin Donuts next door. End of review.
(2)Dr R.
Great food! Solid Rogan Josh & Butter Chicken. Above avg garlic naan.
(5)Melissa G.
Went here for a work lunch. The service was okay, and some of the food was okay. The naan was excellent. I'm not sure if I didn't care for the rest of the food simply because I don't really like Indian food (this was my first time trying it...and my last)...or because the quality was poor. Nothing was outrageously wrong, and nothing extraordinarily special either.
(3)Stacy S.
I can only base my review on the carry out. I had a girls night with my friends a few weekends and we were craving Indian food. It was between Maharaja in Rosemont or Himalyan in Niles. I've had Himalyan before, and that's probably one of my favorite Indian/Nepalese foods in the area, but my friend insisted on Maharaja, so we thought we would give it a try. I was super impressed and now both are head to head in my book. We ordered chicken tikka masala, bhindi masala, mattar paneer, and samosas. First off, for about ten girls, the portions we got were enormous and at a great price too. The food itself was delicious, probably one of the best I've had. It really satisfied our craving. I will definitely be coming back and trying sit-down this time. Great job Maharaja!
(4)Tamara M.
We had a great experience at Maharaja. We were there at kind of an odd time...maybe 4 pm, so it was very quiet, with only one other table occupied by a young Indian family. The server was friendly, and helpful in offering suggestions when encountering my ever-problematic indecision. We went all out. After the classic papa-dam and chutneys we had an appetizer of Bhel Puri, described on the menu as "lightly-seasoned rice puffs mixed with diced potatoes, onions, coriander, crispy gram flour noodles and a variety of homemade chutneys." The bf had the tasty Lamb Dahiwala, with tender pieces of meat in a delicately flavored sauce that was also a bit spicy. I went for the vegetarian Punjabi Kadhi. The yoghurt sauce was SO yummy. We had a hard time eating all of our food, so we had to take our dessert to go. The rich, sweet Gulab Jamun didn't last long once we got back to the hotel. Since we traveled in India last year, we have been worried about finding really good Indian food back in the US. No worries with restaurants like Maharaja in the mix.
(4)Valerie R.
I tried the lunch buffet here recently and the food was great! There were plenty of vegetarian options and everything tasted well made.
(4)Chaos M.
This place has very good indian food. I love the Tandoori Chicken and lamb.
(5)Jennifer R.
Maharaja is the best kept secret of Rosemont. The location is a bit odd. If you saw it from the outside, you wouldn't expect what you see on the inside. Inside is a beautifully decorated eatery with some of the most pleasant waitstaff and managers around. The lunch buffet is only $9.99! Large selection of both meat and vegetarian options in buffet. Buffet served with naan and tandoori chicken. It's an excellent option for those who can't commit to dinner prices and aren't sure what to get. I live in the city, so I don't make it out to the 'burbs often at all. But I will occasionally plan a trip to Maharaja because of how excellent all of my visits there have been. If this restaurant were in the city, I'd be there way more often. If you haven't tried this locale, you're truly missing out. This place is nothing short of excellent.
(5)NItin S.
Close to airport Was a little loud but ambience was pretty decent
(3)David D.
Delicious butter chicken and tiki masala, and appetizers are perfect. The weekend buffet is outstanding, with most of the same popular menu items available, and it's a great value for the family. Service has always been fast and friendly too.
(5)Bob P.
Great place to meet between NW suburbs and City for lunch or dinner. Also great for layover meal. This is about 6 minutes from the airport depending on lights. Just west of River, and east of Mannheim on Higgins yards from 294, and 90 (property touches). Easy westbound 90 access at Devon. I have only done their lunch buffet, but enjoyed it both times. The tandoori chicken is not 'custom' cooked but on the platter. Most of the food was very enjoyable. A reasonable selection of items on the buffet. Great service for plate removal and water refreshing. Everything seemed clean. Nice white table cloths. The mango kulfi-ice cream desert was very creamy. They will fill up by noon, as the options in the area are often challenging past McDonalds and Italian Beef. Again the higher rating is for its ease for meeting from NW and city folk.
(4)Jie S.
I am seriously suffering from the curry food coma now. I totally blame my neighbor for telling me this wonderful Indian lunch buffet. She loves this place even though it takes about one hour to get here from where we live. It is only 15 minutes from my work! I had to go for it. She is so right. Maharaja's lunch buffet is fantastic. The lobby was spacious and filled with people when we walked in. I got my Marsala tea and hit the buffet line. The buffet offered more than a dozen of Indian dishes and Indian Chinese dishes. All Indian Chinese dishes were pretty good like egg rolls, stir fired veggies, fried fish, and a veggie noodle dish. My favorites are Chicken tikka marsala and Lamb curry. Chicken tikka marsala was creamy and sweet with the hint of spiciness. Lamb curry is much spicier with chunk of lamb with bones. I loved mixing the sauce with rice or just try to eat with the fluffy, warm naan. Delicious! My friend loved Tandoori chicken and fried fish. Both of us though Mango Kulfi was the best in deserts. I will come back whenever I could. Now I just need to worry about my weight....
(5)Steve K.
Eating here is like visiting the soup nazi. If your new to Indian food and you appreciate options and explanation, don't go here. Food is ok. ***** (5 Stars)- Amazing, zero flaws, a must go! (Not given often) **** (4 Stars)- Memorable, strongly feel you should visit *** (3 Stars)- Above average, worth a visit ** (2 Stars)- Average, some pro's and some con's * (1 Star)- Opinion is do not go, below average
(2)Mark M.
We were in town on business and I asked co-worker what she was in the mood for. "Indian", she said. "Yelp, find us Indian!" "1. Maharaja,"..my screen read. We wished we would of been here for the buffet - based on all the comments. The Biryani was perfect. Balanced flavors which led to a conversation of guessing all of the spices used -- and we could not (this is a good thing). The vindaloo was not nearly as spicy as I would've liked, but good nonetheless. Service is great and prices are reasonable.
(4)Anna K.
Food here is delicious, but prices are very high in comparison to other Indian places. I guess I may be a bit bias since I grew up right off of Devon. However, the restaurant is very clean and well-kept, which is a nice change from some of the more affordable places in the city. I'm sure with a quick analysis of the neighborhood, Maharaja knows that they can charge these kind of prices due to their lack of competition. All in all, the butter chicken is great here (as you could probably tell from the other reviews). I've also have the paneer makhani, which is also very good. Sometimes I ask them to make it a bit spicier and it's even better when they do. The naan is always fresh and warm, and I absolutely love their garlic naan. I've only dined in for dinner, and almost always I had a gift certificate or groupon. Without it, I'm not quite sure I'd pay their prices and hence the one star off. I also noticed that their iced tea is consistently watered down, so I'd avoid that in the future. I made the mistake of ordering Tikka Paneer thinking that it would be like chicken tikka masala but with cheese instead of chicken, but that was through my own haste. For $10, you basically get a small sizzling plate of onions and triangular paneer, no sauce or nothing. Just a warning for those of you who might have thought what I thought. But overall, if you are craving Indian food and must stay within the Rosemont area, then Maharaja would be the place to go. I've never tried their lunch buffet but I heard it's great and the price is quite affordable.
(4)Ruby Q.
And the winner is......In a "horse race" between Indian restaurants in the near NW burbs, my three horses were Tandor in Park Ridge, Maharajah in Rosemont and Himalayan in Niles. Tandor started out strong out of the gates, but stumbled badly, so bad that they had to put her down (now closed.) Glue factory material for sure in the end. So the the run for the roses is between Maharajah and Himalayan; and honestly, it is a photo finish. Both of these places are authentic, draw a nice diverse mix of Indian transplants and Caucasian folks. Himalayan will make your food "Indian hot" if you ask for extra spicy - so watch out if you can't take searing pepper heat. Maharajah puts out a fine curry as well....aannnd makes a fine martini (believe it or not!). So depending on the mood you are in, you can't go wrong with either place; using the aloo gobi and butter chicken dishes to compare.
(5)Antonio G.
Food is great, there's is two suggestions I have: If you like real Indian food and by real I mean spicy, the way it should be, this is not the place and second make sure you order everything you'll need at once, kitchen is very slow even to get naans if you run out in the middle of your meal
(3)R G.
Ooooh it was so good. I practically rolled out of the restaurant from eating so much when I was done. Yum yum yum.
(4)Cristie F.
$9.95 for a killer Indian lunch buffet?! That's it?!? Yes. That's it. Given that low of a price, I'm sure you're questioning a few things. Is it even worth it? Do they have more than 4 items? Is it good quality, and not some frozen chicken masala from the freezer section at the grocery store? Yes. Yes. Yes. I had been hearing mass raves about Maharaja throughout my office for the past few months. Why I haven't gone sooner, I don't know. I love Indian food, but sometimes it doesn't love me back. Perhaps that was the reason. We went to lunch a little before 1:00pm on a Friday and I'll be honest, I was slightly concerned the buffet would have slim pickins since the buffet starts at 11:30am - and is completely slammed through lunchtime. To my surprise, more and more fresh dishes kept coming out, and the buffet was constantly being refilled. That meant no dry rice, no soggy pakora, nothing cold, and no buffet items with less than a scoop left. Apparently the lunch buffet is open until 3:00pm - so definitely something to keep in mind for a late lunch. The buffet offered vegetarian, lamb, chicken and fish dishes. There was at least a half dozen condiments, and a few desserts to try. Of the dishes I tried ((only vegetarian)) here's what I absolutely loved... **SAUCES** ::Mint Chutney ::Coconut Chutney ::Tamarind ::Vegetable Pakora ((Onion, Cauliflower, Potatoes and Spinach fritters, battered in a thick gram flour, blended with freshly ground herbs and spices and deep fried)) ::Vegetable Jalfrezi ((Mixed seasonal vegetables cooked to perfection with herbs and spices)) ::Palak Paneer ((Spinach and homemade Indian cheese cubes cooked with onions, tomatoes, mild spices and fresh herbs)) ::Yellow Tardka Dal ((Yellow lentil curry prepared with tomatoes, onions, ginger, and tempered with cumin and mustard seeds)) ::Chana Masala ((Chick peas cooked in a mildly spiced onion and tomato gravy)) ::Vegetable Biryani ((Saffron flavored rice prepared with fresh vegetables, specially imported herbs, spices, and nuts)) ::Vegetable Hakka Noodles ::Mango Kulfi ((Homemade Indian ice cream flavored with mango and nuts)) The decor and atmosphere reminds me something out of a bad porno. Between the fluorescent green and blue lights, mass amounts of crystal chandeliers, and the cracked glass wall paneling, I had to giggle to myself a little. Who knows, perhaps this place turns into a disco dance floor at night! Either way, the decor lacked something to be desired...but after all, that is not what I came for! The waiters were very attentive, making sure finished buffet plates were cleared, and water glasses were filled. I especially liked the carafes of water next to the buffet. Let's just say I'm fairly sensitive to spicy foods, so being able to help myself to another gallon of water scores big points in my book. My first experience at Maharaja was spectacular. I wanted to eat until I could burst - or at least until some of my internal organs told me to stop. The food was delicious. I came. I chowed. I left stinkin' of Indian spices. But in the end, I found an amazing, quick, and inexpensive new lunch spot.
(4)Phil S.
As a newb to Indian cuisine, I had been looking for a decent buffet to develop my taste buds on when my buddy Jacob J. reviewed Maharaja. I finally made the trip out here for a late Sunday lunch. I'm not sure how the selection is on weekdays but the Sunday selection was smaller than I expected but did not lack in quality or variety. I got the chance to try everything from lamb curry to butter chicken to chicken paneer. Everything tasted great and we tried at least a little bit of everything. It was WELL worth the relatively cheap $9.95 per person price. Service was quick and polite except at the end when we felt like we were being rushed out because it was almost 3 pm, which is the end of the lunch buffet time. Also, there were at least a half dozen really loud children wildly running about, screaming then crying after bashing their unattended heads against various objects. Parent busy eating their meals merely looked at them and waved at them to come back instead of respecting other people around them and attending to their unruly children. I'm used to kids creating a little bit of din but children running wildly about while a parent pays no heed is extremely rude. I'll be back on a different day in hopes of avoiding the screaming children crowd and closer to lunch time in hopes of being able to enjoy my tasty meal just a little bit more.
(4)Nick S.
Extremely satisfied with the food and service. Vegetable manchurian was probably one of the best I've ever tried. Will definitely return!
(5)Jonathan N.
I came for dinner one night with some coworkers who wanted some indian food. They served us some indian "chips and salsa" as I like to call it. Ordered the lamb and veggie samosas for an appetizer. Lamb was better than the veggie but neither was amazing. Seemed pretty greasy, but then again we did ordered a deep fried dish. The entrees: Lamb Chop Masala - Awesome sauce if you like spicy. I really really enjoyed the sauce, and only the sauce. It comes with lamb chops smothered in the tomato-based gravy. The only downfall was that the lamb chops had little to no meat on them. I was served a dish of awesome sauce with bones! I had to pretty much pick each one up and scavenge for meat. Not a business-friendly meal. Next time I'll ask if they can use diced up lamb or something instead.. Mixed grill for 1 - Ordered this for 1 person and it seemed big enough for 2 people EASILY. Especially if you get appetizers and naan(which is pretty freaking good by the way) The meats were good, and curries did not fall far behind. Briyani - Typical briyani, nothing bad but nothing good. I would come back to try some other dishes here if I was in the mood for indian(or asian since they have an indo-chinese menu)
(4)William S.
Great food. Clean restaurant. Little pricey. Use coupons on yelp, groupon, or restaurants.com . Wait staff does not smile much. Must be cultural thing. Worth going.
(4)Kit A.
Thank God this place is right next door to my work!!! The food always tastes amazing and there are huge portions that you can eat for the next 3 days. I first started getting the express lunch to go (at $6.99 for that much food it's a steal), but then my coworkers started going to the lunch buffet (at $10 you get a lot more options and the MOST amazing mango ice cream) and I've been hooked ever since! I'm there at least once a week and have not had a bad meal yet. The food is always delicious, the price is perfect and the staff is super friendly (now that I'm a regular they actually go out of there way to say hi all the time)...... if I leave the restaurant smelling like Indian food, at least I know I'll be happy and full!

The lunch buffet at Maharaja is a heavenly oasis of joy in a sea of overpriced and underwhelming garbage in the laughably bleak suburbs surrounding the O'Hare airport. As far as the buffet, all the usual suspects are there and are well-executed, with a bias towards veg options. On the meat front, a rich a earthy GOAT CURRY was a welcome surprise. The naan was wonderfully warm, buttery (ghee-y?), and crispy. Service was attentive when needed, but mostly just stayed the hell away from the crazy, seemingly starved white guy eating plate after plate of delicious Indian food with a vigor hitherto unseen. Recommended.

I've been here twice in the past month and I absolutely can not wait to go again. Not only is the restaurant clean and well maintained, but the wait staff is amazing too. The best part by far about this place is the food though. The first time I went I had the Sarson Ka Sag ... oh my god so good! It is a dish of spinach and mustard greens, but I think that someone who didn't even like greens would eat this dish in a heartbeat. I also had the roti the first time which was soft, hot, and delicious! The second time I ordered the Mattar Paneer and once again the food was wonderful. It is a dish with peas, and you could tell they weren't from a can, they were huge, ripe, fresh peas. Amazing. That time we had naan with our meal and it was perfect! To add to all the deliciousness, when you are seated they give you two different chutneys and these cracker/chip things, also awesome. I feel like I've had a pretty decent variety of Indian food in the past, but by far this place is the best I've ever had.

I've been searching for a great Indian restaurant since moving here 5 years ago and I finally found one up to par! I ordered a variety of things so I could taste a little of each of my favorites. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend the Samosas, Chicken Pakoras, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Onion Naan and the plain Naan. SO good! I'm looking forward to trying their lunch buffet soon. The establishment looked clean and was quiet. I got our food to go and the man who assisted me was very friendly. Thanks for the delicious food, Mahajara!

My Boyfriend and I had been looking for a new Indian buffet to go too since out last one had disappointed us with raising the prices and making the food cheap. His Favorite dish is the butter chicken and when i read the reviews saying the butter chicken was absolutely amazing here we had to come and try it. We arrived just before opening and didn't think many people would be there so early, we were wrong, But this to us is a good thing since our last Indian buffet was a ghost town. Everyone seemed to have gotten there early and waited in their cars until opening just like us. When we sat down we were one of the first table in the front right when you walk in which was a little uncomfortable and crowded but not enough to hurt the rating I'm giving. When we went up to get our food there were more choices that I had actually eaten before which was easier to then explain to my boyfriend what he would like since he is new to eating Indian food. We started with the vegetarian appetizers, which were perfectly cooked. Then we had the balsmati rice with butter chicken and the red chicken with sauce (I can't remember what they called it). The Butter Chicken was definitely worth coming to try, I myself was not a big fan until now. I have got to say It is probably my favorite dish so far. There was so much flavor and the chicken was cubed without bones or fat from the chicken which i love. Of course i then finished my meal with a Mango Lasse. Once the bill came were were shocked on how little it was compared to our prior Indian buffet. The only thing that caught our eye was the drink cost. My boyfriends soda cost 3.00 which is a little high and we were talking about it for a little while joking on maybe he should drink another one to make it worth it and I'm guessing the manager over heard us because when we went to pay and the receipt came back he had took the drink off. We were so grateful, since we were only kidding and still would have given a great review no matter the drink cost. We then tipped well and told him we would definitely be back! We may even go back next weekend! :)

Where do I start? and I'm not talking about this review, I'm thinking back to when I was facing Maharaja's buffet and thinking to myself "Where do I start?" Everything looked and smelled fantastic and I was ready to grab two plates at once to start the buffet. But, good manners held me at bay as well as what Joanne W would say when I returned to the table balancing 2 full dishes. So I begrudgingly just started with my one plate. Maharaja's buffet is a steal at 9.95 for all the choices available. There are roughly 8 hot items, white rice, Briyanni and 3 cold items, chutney and 2-3 desserts to choose from AND every table gets Tandoori chicken and Naan. See what I mean about grabbing two plates at one time? Their dishes are all well-prepared, flavorful and kept nice and hot. Everything I tried was wonderful, not a bad dish in the bunch. My favorite that day was the lamb curry--the lamb pieces were fork tender and the sauce was delectable. The Butter Chicken was a standout too--tender chicken in a delicious sauce. Service was speedy and friendly. Water glasses refilled often, finished plates swept up quickly. They do a steady business during lunch hour so plan accordingly. I will be planning accordingly--planning for more visits to this little gem in Rosemont!

Great food ! ... We'll be back.
(5)Rob W.
The buffet was pretty good - good enough in fact that I ate too much of it! Nonetheless, I found the Chicken Marsala to be OK, Huang Noodles were quite good and the Palak Paneer excellent, though a bit rich in large quantities! Very fairly priced at $9,95 for lunch. Staff did a great job of keeping my water glass full - places that have colored water glasses (Maharaja's are blue) often forget about filling your water when they can't see it needs to be refreshed. Cool interior too. As Indian food goes, Ashoka is still my favorite, but this is definitely worth more visits!
(4)Natasha R.
Staff were very nice & on top of things. Food was a little different than I expected but still good. I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Very cozy & warm feeling. Prices were great also. Very close to airport.

Picking someone up at O'Hare who's hungry? This is just a few minutes away. Service was excellent. Clean. Tasty. Spiced to order (hot for most of us). Really great choice for Indian food in Chicago.
(4)Bala T.
We stay around O'hare quite a bit and kind of ignored this place as yet another Indian joint for a while. What a mistake! Though they are on the expensive side, they have some of the best stuffed parathas I have had in an Indian restaurant in the US. Also, I have become a big fan of their cream based curries. Usually Indian places tend to spoil the taste of cream based curries by cooking them too long. The first time we were there, they forgot to add salt to the veggie biryani. But everything else is good! Service is slow, but thats typical of desi restaurants. I cant wait to try their buffet.

I was in town on business and I wanted to try something different. I have never had Indian food but I have always wanted to try it, I have always been nervous because I thought it would be too spicy but I thought I would give it a try. The service was excellent, I told the waiter that I had never had Indian food before and he suggested a few items for me and explained a few of the dishes. I ended up ordering the entree meat platter sampler. It was amazing. For those of you who have never had Indian food, let me try to describe it a little. The naan bread is a flat bread that is thicker than a tortilla but thinner than a pita. I got the garlic naan and it was great. All the meats were considered non-spicy which was perfect for me. They were very flavorful without being spicy hot, After a while, my lips and the back of my throat became warm, but a bite of bread was enough to cut the spice and calm it back down. It came with something called Dal Makhani which is lentils in a sauce. It was so good. I think it was one of the best things I had that night. I would definitely eat there again if I was back in town. And, I will try an Indian restaurant in my town when I get home.
(4)Jessica C.
Absolutely excellent. I honestly learned to cook Indian food myself at home because my husband and I grew tired of disappointing Indian food up and down Devon and places elsewhere. That having been said, it's not easy to prepare multiple dishes, plus appetizers and breads at home for yourself - the few times I have it's been for a large crowd - otherwise the leftovers are insurmountable. We had keema samosa, lamb dahiwala, keema mattar (yes, lamb heavy because I usually use chicken at home). We also ordered aloo parantha and pudina parantha to go with our curries. The lamb dahiwala almost made me cry it was so good; although everything was fabulous. The one exception might be the pudina parantha, but I think that might have been because I thought it needed a touch of salt. Oh, and note if you want plain rice, you do have to order it separately. Also, the staff were light hearted and helpful, service was quick, and the pappadums brought out first were HOT and fried to order. I mean, really? I've never had homemade pappadums - and the mint chutney with it - let's just say I've never actually finished a condiment before. Anyway, we're in love. My husband's trying to figure out how to go there at lunchtime with his co-workers (from Glenview, mind you). We will be back and hope you try it too! If we lose this gem, we'll be heartbroken.

I'm addicted!! Great for those virgin to Indian food and even better for those with a more sophisticated Indian palate. Ask the waiter for suggestions...they are happy to help. Try the Indian beers! Love the chandeliers!! I go once a month for my Indian food fix! HA! Grab a yelp or Groupon Now coupon and give this restaurant a try!! **UPDATE** On my perhaps 10th visit to Maharaja I was very, very disappointed! I brought my boss and coworker to impress them with this fine food choice and we were treated very poorly. Maybe because there were three women at the table but we had to flag down a server (in an empty restaurant) to ask him to take our cocktail order. We observed two Indian men come in and received service IMMEDIATELY! REALLY!?!? Each time we needed something we had to flag someone down...very annoying. The server kept trying to take our plates, bread and chips away when we weren't finished eating. I'm going to seek out another Indian restaurant to frequent but I will give Maharaja one more try because the location is so convenient for me.

I took my my mom out to a birthday lunch to Maharaja. This was my first time here and to my surprise, they were serving a buffet lunch for $9.95. Sweet deal. We must have walked into some sort of a private party. Everyone knew each other and we felt somewhat out of place. While we were acknowledged and seated when we walked in, the vibe was slightly uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the food was very good. For the price, the buffet is really a great value. My mom and I are Indian food novices, so we naturally worried about the spiciness of the dishes. All of the food was enjoyable and just spicy enough. I definitely want to return and try more items on the menu.
(4)Leng K.
Went here because it was close to the hotel I was staying at and I wanted to have some Indian. Have to say I was impressed by the food, but the service was pretty slow. Maybe because I was alone. I ordered some garlic naan, which was tasty, but more butter than I like on it. Rogan Josh was really good, not too spicy, maybe a little tame for some though and Samosa was great. Ambiance was nice, a quiet place, but not too fancy either.
(3)Anthony M.
I don't anything about Indian nor do I particularly ever desire it except perhaps once every 6 months or so. Not being a connoisseur of the genre, I didn't know any better and thought it was pretty decent but some of my colleagues who happen to be developers, in other words they know better, weren't as impressed.
(3)Cherry A.
Thanks to my fellow yelpers, I had a great experience here. Delicious buffet, and amazing mango ice cream dessert bar. The rice was perfect, the naan was soft and fluffy, the butter chicken was creamy and delicious. You know you want some. Now!
(4)Shradha A.
Brand new restaurant that just opened this month! The lunch buffet was not a great experience - most of the curries were undercooked or unflavorful. The rice was dry and undercooked too. The service was good and that alone earned them two stars.
(3)Michael N.
We found this location using Yelp and we had an excellent meal.
(5)Jeff S.
I just recently found Maharaja right down the street from my office and have already eaten here for dinner a few times. The menu is not as expansive as my old favorite Indian place, but the items they do have are all excellent. From the complementary papadum and dipping sauces and chutney to the simple rice and Naan to the entrées, everything is cooked well and spicy just right. The Butter Chicken was good, and the Vindaloo even better. Last time out we opted for the Tandoori combo with Chicken Tikka and grilled fish and veggies as well. There is always plenty of food to take home. Once of these days I need to get over there during lunch to try the buffet.
(4)Shakti S.
I went for dinner few times. 1) Quantity was ok but quality was awesome. 2) I had Punjabi Curry and Okra (Bhindi). 3) One of the best Indian food I had in Illinois (dinner). Impressed by dinner, I went in for lunch buffet and was disappointed. I don't blame them. They probably have to take care of non indians as well so food was very mild. 4) I am a veggie for records. Lunch buffet (2 stars), dinner (4).
(3)Tuttysan S.
We went to Maharaja on the way back from O'Hare once and liked it. The food was good. However, I would not drive all the way there if I'm not in the area.
(3)michael w.
Definitely a keeper. Hit it with some co-workers for lunch. The lamb was a stand out on the buffet. The place was doing a good volume of business and was fairly foo foo for lunch. buffet runs $10/head, not good, not bad, but in the middle somewhere. I am going back there today for lunch with another group. Glad to add it as a staple for lunch.
(4)hafsa a.
The food was good but the lamb vindaloo we ordered had more potatoes and barely any meat which was disappointing. Other wise the food was really good
(4)Scott K.
5 stars for the food. Some of the best Indian food I have had - prepared and seasoned to perfection for my pallet. At the time of this review, they have a true Chef at the helm. 3 stars for the service. I have been there twice in the last month and both times the waiter chose not to write down the order for multiple guests and both times forgot a major dish. 3.5 stars for the ambiance, cleanliness and bathrooms. Nice lighting and clean dining area - bathrooms are okay too. Summary: I will be back for the food, perhaps pickup only but will verify every dish is present and accounted for.
(4)Grace S.
The buffet had quite a few choices for vegitarians and meat eaters. I wasn't wowed but it was tasty!
(3)Lita B.
Good food, the place could use a remodel of decor.
(3)R G.
Good indian food. We tried palak paneer, paneer kadhai and yellow daal and everything was fresh and tasty. Service was top notch.
(4)Daniel K.
We tried the lunch buffet and really enjoyed it. Food was fresh and warm. Fried fish is the one thing that stood out for me.
(4)Sid B.
We tried the ala-carte... foods nothing to write about...Its very expensive & not worth it, keeping in mind the minute portions...Dont order the naan.. extremely greasy... I believe that has caused my strep..... Skip the indo chinese on the menu , you are better off going to Hakka Wok if you need a indo chinese fix...... Customer service is good though , very patient... maybe the lunch buffet is better for the buck..
(2)Laylajane A.
Maharaja was very nice inside, the staff was very nice. They greeted us immediately and took us to our table. The menu was in English with descriptions of everything, plus the staff was very accommodating. The food was fantastic, this was our first time going and we will be back with even more friends next time:-)
(4)Dana T.
Picked up some hungry friends at the airport, and Yelped "healthy food near OHare" which led me here. You did not fail me, Yelpers. We shared a plate of Tandoori chicken, paleek paneer and a cauliflower dish, plus a bread basket with assorted naan. Perfectly seasoned, not too oily, and delish. Just what we wanted! Generous portions meant we had plenty to take home for lunch tomorrow.
(4)Antonio M.
Take your palette east for the day! I came here on a lunch date yesterday for the buffet, because I've heard rave reviews about the food from my date who frequents this restaurant weekly. For only 10 dollars you have an endless array of bold and flavorful (and flavorful is putting it mildly!) Indian food, which was worth every cent. Truthfully, I'll admit that this is my first time being introduced to Indian food, but I'd certainly come back again. I encourage you to visit there website to view the extensive dinner options. They also deliver dinner within a five-mile radius, which includes all the hotels around O'hare Airport.
(4)Eduardo E.
After coming here for dinner for months, we finally had the lunch buffet at Maharaja! And it was so freakin worth it! The food was excellent as always, the service Spot On, with water glasses constantly refilled, as well as the naan basket. (Man do we love us some agua as we carbo load!). And all for less than $10!? Wow. But the highlights are: 1. A perfectly spiced and savory "vegetarian chili", which doesn't even appear to be on their regular menu. 2. A homemade creamy mango ice cream (Don't be afraid folks. It's that bright orange stuff in the large steam table tray at the end of the buffet, that doesn't actually look like ice cream. I think my kids and I were the only ones brave enough to eat it. And we were rewarded greatly for our willingness to toss whatnot down our gullets. (It's a family skill). 3. The always tender tandoor chicken. 4. And best of all...the Paneer Makhani: which their menu meekly describes as, "Homemade cottage cheese cubes cooked in a savory tomato, onion, and mildly spiced cream sauce with fenugreek seeds." Instead of "This unforgettable savory, slightly sweet, creamy, spicy sauce will shake you awake at night, breathless, with sordid memories of your luxurious time together. As you languidly lick your lips in anticipation of your next encounter." Really. I should rewrite their menu for them. Or maybe romance novels. But i digress.... One thing that many of you Buffet-Billy-And-Bettys (you know who you are) will not appreciate, is that there aren't tons and tons of entree selections. To them I say, "If you want to eat until you explode at any Old-Country-Home-Town-Questionable-Quality-High-ÂVolume-Buffet-Trough, please go there and stop standing in front of the Paneer Maktani! At Maharaja there aren't tons of entrees, but I'm not impressed with MORE. I'm impressed with EXCELLENCE. I'd rather have 5 really great dishes, instead of 50 piles of smoking...but I digress. And I ate until I was stuffed anyway...then went home and crashed on the couch...and shamefully watched a Teen Wolf marathon on Netflix...against my will of course.

Well, ended up at Maharaja at lunch time on my way to catch a flight at nearby O'Hare. I was hoping to grab a quick bite with friends before checking in for my flight. At 12:15 PM on a Friday the place was packed mostly with groups of nearby office workers on their lunch break. The offering was an all you can eat buffet at $9.95 / person. Service was adequate with real fabric napkins, plenty of water refills, prompt removal of dirty dishes, and fresh nams brought to the table promptly after sitting. The buffet had a lot of offerings with meat and vegetarian dishes. For the price it offered solid Indian food. I was a bit overwhelmed by the greasiness of the dishes as well as the overly salty chicken tandoori and extremely sweet desserts. No doubt a good spot for a lunch break but if you are on any type of dietary restriction or you are simply watching your waistline you will have to space out your visits.
(3)Brian B.
Food is good. Service is good. Buffet selection is good. Just good!
(4)Steve T.
This was our third or fourth visit to this restaurant. On every previous visit, the food was excellent and the service superb. Tonight, the food was still excellent but the service was HORRENDOUS! After completing our meal, we had to wait over 35 minutes for a table to be cleared for dessert. After waiting an additional 20 minutes for our dessert which was mango kufti, an Indian ice cream dish that did not have to be cooked or prepared, we have finally had another waiter - not the one waiting on us - come by to see if he could help us. Our waiter had not even play stargazer order nor checked back with us. The second waiter produced our dessert in less than two minutes. As we left, we noticed that there were 5-6 empty tables, yet people were in the lobby waiting to be seated. Because of our prior good experiences, we will give them another chance - but it will be on a weeknight, not a Saturday night like tonight.
(3)Alexandra B.
plain and simple deliciousness.
(5)Peter O.
The positives were the quality of service and the convenience of the location. However, the food was just average and the price point was higher than most of the similar Indian restaurants in the area. For 2 entrees, 2 drinks and an order of naan bread we were over $40. With the ever increasing number of Indian restaurants in the NW 'burbs this isn't one I would return to.
(3)Dheeraj R.
Decent Indian restaurant. Best thing about the place is the range of cuisines available in 1 place - Indo-Chinese, South Indian and North Indian. Today was my first time there. Some dishes were yummy, others were so-so. Ambience was okay. I give them 4 stars due to the diversity of the Indian cuisine available, otherwise they would get 3 stars.
(4)Raveena S.
Food was good. We ordered chicken vindaloo , bhuna ghoshat , and a bread basket. The chicken was spicy but delicious and so was the mutton. The bread was soft and melted in your mouth. The only one thing I would say is that the waiters were not smiling but overall it was a great experience
(4)Oscar S.
I LOVED this place!! I dont get to eat Indian food often enough because there' simply not enough of them around near the area where I work. And I cover a huge area!!! Nice to know there's a REALLY good one near me.I had the Goat Biryani and the Ramalai for dessert!!! GREAT!!! The ambience is also really nice. This is no dive!! Service was very good also. Both my waiter and the busboy were very attentive and prompt.I WILL RETURN!!!!
(5)AnneMarie T.
Amazing Indian food. This is the real deal. The best Indian food I've had in the US at a restaurant.
(5)Bradley D.
Very clean. Great service. Nice bathrooms. Very good food but not the absolute best Indian food I've had. Great value for your dollar.
(5)David N.
Stopped in for lunch and was sat immediately. The servers were very attentive throughout our stay. Everything served at the buffet was delicious. I can't remember the names of most of what I ate, but the Chicken 65 and Butter Chicken were delicious. The fried rice and other vegetarian dishes (Vegetable Jalfrezi) were deliciously well-seasoned and piping hot. The Hot sauce was fantastic, and literally really freaking HOT! The servers also brought fresh grilled chicken legs to the table, resembling Chicken 65 (red coloring) in a fajita-style plating. Dessert was something awesome (Gulab Jamun & Gaajar Halwa) and a great finish to lunch, not to mention the only $22.00 bill for a lunch buffet for two. Maharaja gets my vote! I'll be back!
(5)Madhur C.
Good food. Almost every thing was good. Good service too. I would definitely recommend this place.
(4)Jason H.
Everything I've tried here is good. The butter chicken is to DIE FOR.
(5)Nitesr C.
I came for dinner with my friends. we tried for first time and it gone be last. i like the ambience but i am not sure what part of indian food they are seving. we ordered biryani, assorted non vegetatian platter and few deserts. biryani is literaly dipped in oil and it took away the biryani spicy aroma. Raitha looked to be sticky and and i am not sure it is prepared from yogurt. There is lot of cream in it. I was really disappointed with the volume of desert served. It is not worth the price. Ambience is good but not great. Music is good for soft listeners. Food is not great.
(2)Shamoon E.
Food was good but the portions are very small and the prices are too high!
(3)Jason K.
good service, nice atmosphere, pretty good food... overall good experience and I would go back... not the best India I have had but definitely good enough to go back to.
(4)Michelle F.
Food was good. Service was slow. I would come back again.
(3)Karisma E.
Best Indian Food Ever!! Buffet style too!
(5)Crystal H.
We went last night for the first time. The Rogan Josh was outstanding (and I'm not a big fan of lamb)! Also tried the Aloo and Corn Tikki with Chana appetizer which was wonderful. We're very picky when it comes to Indian food and will definitely come back to Maharaja.
(4)Elena C.
This is a very nice and clean restaurant. The staff was courteous and professional. Food prep time was pretty quick. The food was delicious! I had their Sarson Kar Sag, Roomali Roti and Mango Lassi. I recommend all of them!
(5)Mary P.
First I must say this is the first time that I am writing a review, so that should tell you something. On 10/21/11, I stopped in and had dinner by myself around 8 pm. I was promptly greeted then seated. My waiter was a guy named Rocky. I have to say hands down it's the service that you get at this place that makes it get 5 stars. I mentioned that I was using a groupon when I was ready to order. I could not believe what Rocky did next. I have been "groupon-ing " for a while and I feel that at times some establishments feel they are doing me a favor by giving me a discount on the food. Rocky found out the value of my groupon (which was $30) and suggested an appetizer and a menu item which would leave me owning about $1. What I appreciated even more was that the choices were awesome. For the appetizer I had the Paneer Tikka and my entree was Maharaja Mix Grill. I liked it because it included a little of everything. Everything was excellent. Although I live in Chicago, I frequent the Convention Center a few times a year as well the theater for performances. Finding someplace to eat is always a problem. Because I can't always find natural or organic dining, I appreciate a good vegetarian dish if the restaurant offers it. I was really happy to find this place. One added note all the meat is Halal for those who are Muslim or like myself, very picky about where my meat comes from. I will be back.
(5)Xiaoxi L.
Very good. A little more variety than your standard $10 Indian buffet, and very nice interior. I like these buffets that are generous with their sauces and make them very flavorful so I can drench my rice. The pancake balls were DELICIOUS. They have a different buttery flavor than I've had before and were kept warm. The syrup was just the right consistency. They had eggrolls and szechwan chicken, was was better than I've eaten at some Chinese restaurants. You could tell the quality of the chicken they used in all dishes was superior. I only wish this place would move a little farther from me so I don't have to suffer curry coma.
(5)Dan D.
This place simply has rock-solid Indian food at very reasonable prices! Upon entering, we were struck by the great atmosphere and environment - very modern with sleek lighting and clean interior. One of the servers sat us down and was very pleasant to talk to (ask for "Rocky" - he is very awesome and even taught us how to say some Indian words). The Tandoori Chicken is a stand-alone favorite. I have been to Devon street indian places for all my life... and Maharaja actually exceeds the Devon St. cuisine! The chicken is VERY tender and has tons of flavor. Not only that, but the price is pretty good at $14 for a whole chicken (costs more on Devon St restaurants). It was so much chicken that had to take most of it home. (When we got home, we had some visitors and they all tried out the tandoori chicken - they loved it and basically finished it clean even though they all had dinner previously!). We were very pleased coming to Maharaja. It is a bit out of the way for Chicagoans.... BUT it is the perfect restaurant to come to when you are planning on seeing a movie at Muvico theaters (just a few minutes away). Cheers!
(5)David B.
Yeah, don't expect the Taj Mahal when you pull up to this place. Maharaja is tucked into a non-descript strip mall next to a bunch of other ethnic restaurants. But don't let that stop you from going in. Maharaja is excellent. Inside the incongruous wood plank front door is a sleek, dark glass and mirror-accented locus of Indian food yumminess. My wife and I showed up just after 5pm. We were the only customers. It was a weekday, so not terribly surprised. Regardless, we had our choice of tables and were immediately provided water and bar/food menus. The waiter was polite and attentive, especially given the drink menu did not list the beer choices. I had a 22 oz. bottle of some tasty Indian beer and my wife a split of Prosecco. Less than a minute later they were quenching our thirst. Before we placed our order, they came by with thin, crispy, fresh cracker-type bread that was served with a side of tamarind and jalapeno mint dipping sauce. Fantastic! Great combo to mix and dip. The menu has all kinds of appetizers. We decided to test them on their samosas, going with the veggie versions. Perfect. Hot, crispy, light and perfectly seasoned--not too many potatoes, not too many peas. Plus, the aforementioned sauces above were perfect to slather over each bite. Next was some crazy crepe dish culled from their "southern Indian" menu. It was not on their website. The thing was huge, crispy, warm and served with three outstanding sauces. The biggest container held a curry/veggie/carrot blend with some heat, the two smaller ones had a tamarind (I think) type sauce and a yogurt mint cucumber sauce. Damn, that was good. And suddenly our entree arrived. We went with the Maharaja sampler which has lamb stew, shrimp, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, some crazy awesome lamb sausage and served on a bed of grilled onions and peppers. This was served with a side of lentils, naan and basmati rice. All were fantastic, though the standouts were the lamb sausage and butter chicken (so tender). And the naan--warm, tender, buttery, soft and chewy. I have never had better. Surprisingly, all 4 courses (if you wanted to count drinks and chips as #1) were well staggered. We never seemed to have to wait for anything. Yet when we were done, the food simply appeared within seconds. Excellent, attentive service. My wife had a crack in her champagne flute, which caused the Prosecco to leak out. Pointing this out quickly produced another bottle and glass--no charge. Very impressive. No questions asked. They took great care of us. All of this was at a fair price. $61 and change. We had leftovers. Lots to eat. No problem bagging everything for us, either. We will be back. I can't wait to try the buffet. Highly recommended.
(5)Allison M.
I would go back here again, but probably for the lunch buffet rather than dinner. With drinks it ended up a little pricier than where I think it should've been. Service was very good, I had Chicken Tikka Masala and it was outstanding, but could've been spicier. I'm an irish girl though so maybe they gave me what they thought I could handle. I met my sister and we took our time and they didn't rush us, which I really appreciate. The samosas were really good, not too greasy and different (in a good way) from those I've tried before.

Two words Tarun & Rocky Why? Reason #1: Awesome service. Rocky was our waiter. He made some excellent recommendations. Tarun who turned out to be a Director was extremely welcoming and took great care of us as well. Impeccable food. Wonderful flavor!! The shrimp dish was our favorite. But everything else was a close a very close second. The lamb...Damn!! Highly Recommended!!

So a few weeks ago or so, my colleagues and I headed over to Laredo's for some Mexican lunch-time action. As we walked up we noticed Maharaja. "Hey! What's that place? Indian buffet? We are SO going to try that place." I said to my co-worker and fellow Indian food fanatic. I am happy to report that today was finally the day that we got to try Maharaja and it did not disappoint. You have to understand that working in Rosemont leaves you with limited dining options during the lunching hour....and the places worth walking to are few and far between. So when we happened upon this restaurant we practically jumped outta our pants! One of my favorite cuisines, reasonably priced and in walking distance? Wha?? !!!! Ok, ok. Deep breath. The lunch buffet is $9.95. The folks at Maharaja put on quite the spread too. There is a salad bar with fruit, greens, bean salad, pickled veggies and various sauces & chutneys. The hot buffet probably had at least 10 dishes on it that would satisfy both your vegetarians and meat eaters. It seemed like anything and everything was on that buffet - lentil soup, bryiani, butter chicken, paneer, lamb, pakoras, masala, chili chicken... Seriously, the buffet was insane. What's crazier? I left out the dessert portion of the buffet! I heard from a co-worker that the samosas we're very tasty. They were not on the buffet so we ordered some up for good measure...b/c ya know, the buffet was not enough food for us. OMG, I almost forgot...complimentary naan and tandoori chicken are brought out to your table as well. Wha?? !!! Needless to say, we rolled on out of Maharaja with full and happy bellies. We we're quite pleased with our experience. As stated in other reviews - the service is pretty great. The dining options in Rosemont just got a lot better thanks to Maharaja.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Randomly came across it after an afternoon at the casino. The food was great. The location was weird, but don't really care because the food was great. Everything had fantastic flavor and it was just perfect. I ate way more than I should have because everything was excellent. Go here if you can!

Big fan! Came here for lunch w/ co-workers. First time eating Indian food and was scared everything would be spices galore. (I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to spices.) After this 1st experience, I will definitely come back! +Super clean +Great ambiance/decor +$9.95 for lunch buffet? Can't beat that! (They also have regular menu if you want.) +Waiters, bus boys were super friendly and service was excellent (water glasses filled ASAP, drinks refilled ASAP, plates cleared ASAP) +I probably looked lost at the buffet line so one of the staff came up to me and explained all the food ingredients. +Halal meat (this does not matter to me but I know to some of my Indian friends, they appreciate if the restaurant prepares food this way) +I'm addicted to naan (bread). BEST NAAN EVER! I don't know what they put in it but man, oh, man! It was sooooo buttery goodness gooooood! =) Croissant who? +The mango ice cream dessert they had (I forgot what it was called in Indian) was sooooooo gooood! Come one, come all! What are you waiting for?! I already told all my Indian and non-Indian friends and we already have plans to go back. PS: We came at 11:30am for lunch. By noon, it got a bit busy so come early if you could.

Being an Indian food snob I had my reservations about coming here. Located in an unassuming strip mall, the curb appeal is lacking. However, what awaits through those front doors is the gateway to Flavor Town. The buffet consists of all of your standard Indian buffet items: tandoori chicken, butter chicken, palak paneer, various chutnees, etc. But what really sealed the deal for me was the curry goat. Never in a million years did I ever think that I would like goat meat, but I can happily say that I am now a believer. OUT STANDING! Couple all of that fresh, hot naan and a $10 tab and you have a winner. The service sucks, but it's a buffet....who cares! Just don't ask for more than 1 naan refill....you'll get the stare from hell. Oh well....feeling too good about the goat to care.

A lunch buffet is one of those things that can really make a good place seem average at best. The food is often lukewarm, overcooked, and bland. Maharaja is not one of those places. While the food's temp could be warmer, and it would be great to get a little more spicy kick in some of the dishes, it is not bland. They offer an array of chutneys (including the rare, coconut chutney - a favorite of mine), pickles, appetizers and entrees. Typical of many Indian restaurants, they obviously cater to vegetarians; the meatless options were plentiful and very tasty. I have also eaten here for dinner, and was very pleased. The dinner menu reads like an encyclopedia of Indian cuisine. I love lamb vindaloo, especially when cooked with potatoes, and they do it very well here. They will make the dish as hot as you like it, so if you like to work up a good sweat when you eat, they will oblige you. I love this place. I'll keep coming back as long as they make great vindaloo.

If this is four stars, then the place we have dined that were four stars should be 20 stars. If you enjoy tasteless Indian food this is your place. We had the buffet and most of it tasted as if it had been sitting for DAYS, not hours. To make things worse, it was unseasoned, watery or dried out. If you want five star, go to Curry Hut in Higwood. Will not be back. Beyond disappointed.

We visited this restaurant over the weekend.. we decided to go there looking at the reviews & 4+ star ratings. The food was good.. we ordered a Mango lassi, a Mulgatwany soup, and Maharaja mix grill for the main course which was served with rice & naan. We had a good dinner.. after which, my husband asked the person who seemed to be the manager of the place for a rasmalai to have there and tea in a to-go cup.., then when the waiter came to our table to ask if we need anything else, my husband told him that we had ALREADY ordered one rasmalai FOR HERE and tea to go. After a while, as we were served the rasmalai by the manager, the waiter comes to our table with rasmalai in a TO-GO container. When my husband told him that we already have been served, the waiter told us in a rude manner with a grumpy face that we were wrong in letting him know that we have already ordered some more stuff and how we should not be PLACING ORDER to two different people (we never placed an order with him...we just informed him because he asked if we would like to order some dessert). Its implied that there was no proper respect whatsoever to the customer, no co-ordination among both of them.. that too when there weren't too many customers around. We were amused by this kind of curt behavior... we didn't exchange any words with the waiter, and after paying our bill, met the manager, his name was Tony. After having explained the incident to him, he just had to shyly say sorry and nothing else. And we left the place. Part of this is also related to our ethnicity. Being an Indian customer in an Indian restaurant, the waiter took us for granted. I am pretty sure he would not have behaved the same with a non-Indian customer. Had the service been good, the experience would have been a 3 star, but I don't think one can recommend a place only for the food if customers are not treated well by the waiter! As for the food, there are too many options available in Chicagoland to have really good Indian food with excellent customer service.
(2)Paul S.
To start off, Rosemont, IL is a sad excuse for Chicago and only has very lame obvious restaurants like steakhouses etc for the convention crowd, so I was very pleased there was an Indian Restaurant in town. I had low to no expectations, but the meal was really wonderful and you had lots of Indo-Chinese and Southern Indian items like masala dosa you dont normally see on more typically Northern Indian restaurants. We had a ton of food, including a set meal called the Maharaja Dinner, and a lamb keema mattar, and some mixed fried vegetarian appetizers, and 4 large flying horse beers and the meal was great. Way too much food. Tab wasnt small, about $100 with tip, but the food was worth it. I wished I had a place this good in Los Angeles, where I live!

Great find near o'hare airport.

Just went into Maharaja for the first time for lunch. Beautifully decorated, very attentive staff and a delicious buffet. The Butter Chicken and Chicken 65 were excellent! I used to go to Tandoor in Park Ridge and sadly don't think I'll be returning...since this place is way better, and MUCH cleaner!
(5)Ben B.
Went to Maharaja today, with a friend who has been before. Very good food. Indian is my favorite cuisine, and I've had a lot of it in my time. This was excellent. No issues with services, decor, or anything else. I went away very happy.
(4)Melinda p.
I had dinner here Saturday night. The service was really great. The waiter was really helpful. The food was plentiful, good and satisfying. Price was fair. I will go back.
(5)Jeffrey D.
Met friends here before one of them caught a flight out of O'Hare. The menu is varied and extensive. We made do when the waiter misunderstood our order and brought twice the quantity of beer we wanted. The food was tasty, because hot spicy greasy food is tasty. It could have been our bad luck, but 3 out of 4 dishes had similar red gravies. Wish our waiter had warned us, Couldn't locate eggplant in the eggplant dish--was it all mashed? Sorry this place didn't live up to its reputation.
(2)Susan T.
Food and service were excellent! I would never have expected such excellence to be found in a strip mall near O'Hare airport. The chicken tikka masala was as good as I've had (and I've had a lot).
(5)Anthony g.
Food is great! The Chicken Tiki Masala is amazing. They got the spiciness exactly right for us too(we asked for medium, and that is exactly what we got). Can't wait to try their buffet....
(5)Sajit S.
After my last review I received an email from Tony, the manager, apologizing for the poor service. What I liked about his message was that he did not make any excuses, but took ownership for the mistake and invited me back. I was hesitant on going back, but decided to do so because of his email. Our whole family was there this evening and experience was splendid. Although Tony told me to ask for him in his message, I purposely did not do so until after the meal. The food was good and the service was excellent. My wife especially liked the Baigan Bharatha and the kids loved the Chicken Tikka Masala. We will definitely be coming back.
(4)Kerry M.
Been here four times now and it is the best Indian food I have ever had. The chicken tika masala, the chicken curry and the butter chicken are awesome! Love their garlic naan bread and their samosas are to die for. Went there with my brother and he loved his vegetarian choices too. Services is great!! I highly recommend it!
(5)Mia P.
Read about this place 1st on Yelp and was hoping to get the server, Rocky, that everyone raved about and we did! He made what would have been a wonderful experience exceptional. The food was hands down the BEST Indian cuisine, the atmosphere was gorgeous and I had my 1yr old with who had plenty to eat and lots of attention from the whole staff. The red curry and nan were to die for. After our meal we ordered decadent dessert and coffee which was just as wonderful and we were having such a good time we didn't notice we stayed past closing because not a single person tried to rush us or give us even a feeling like they were trying to close up. I will recommend this place to everyone I know.
(5)Parag P.
The Restaurent is close to O'hare, and is one of the finest Indian restaurent I have been in recent times. Paneer tikka was awesome and so were Butter roti and Malai Kofta. I tried Flying Horse beer too and I was good. A+++ for food quality and service.
(5)andrea s.
Randomly ate here before seeing a concert at Rosemont Theater and it was delicious. The server was friendly and the food came out quickly. The portions were pretty average. The spices were good and the food had just enough heat. I would eat here again.
(4)Maureen F.
Great decor, warm welcome, clean and then....great food! I have been to many Indian restaturants and this is up there on the list. Be ready to eat!!!!! Plus, it is easy access, plenty of parking, etc. Please go and try it, Indian food is the bomb!!

WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE. We had just arrived back from Europe, jet-lagged, and didn't want to get back onto 90 into the city at rush hour. Had to eat, so we looked around. I will say honestly that when we drove by this place, I was skeptical. It's in a little strip mall next to a sub-sandwich shop, and you could easily miss it. But Indian sounded good, and after a long flight, we thought, "Oh well -- it doesn't have to be fantasitc." Well, it WAS FANTASTIC. Let me add that we travel eight months out of the year for work, so we are regularly eating at restaurants across the states and abroad. We love Indian food so we have eaten at many places in many cities that have been recommended to us. This was, in my opinion, the best I have ever had. The menu has authentic indian dishes that you don't see on other run-of-the-mill menus. I knew we were in for a treat when the samosas arrived. How many samosas have you eaten at Indian restaurants? If you're like me, you can't begin to count -- they're offered everywhere -- and they almost always are the same: mostly white potato inside, maybe a few peas, and maybe some spices. But mostly what you're getting in flavor comes from the fried dough crust. The samosas and Maharaja opened my eyes to what they CAN be. The crust wasn't overly oily, and was ever so slightly sweet. The filling wasn't just potato, and the best part was how well the inside was seasoned. For dinner I had the Punjabi Curry (vegetarian), which was delicious, and my wife had the Sarson Ka Sag, which is their version of the ubiquitous Saag. Mine had just the right amount of heat (you could tell it wasn't dumbed down for american palates) and the vegetables were still al dente, which obviously means they were fresh and not canned or overcooked. My wife's was also fabulous and I think the thing I appreciated most about both was that they had an authentic/unique texture... no baby-food-consistency-Saag here. (I would swear that some places just keep it in a big plastic bag with a spout and squeeze it out for each dish.) Since we eat just as much with our eyes as our stomachs, it was delightful to see a Saag in which you could recognize bits of the spinach, etc. Our Naan was also very good. My single small critique would be that perhaps the Mulligatawny soup was a little too spicy -- I like spicy food and yet my lips were burning! -- so it might be a bit strong for most Western tongues. Even though we don't live close, we are already figuring out when we can get back to Maharaja. Good service, reasonable-to-cheap prices, and DAMN GOOD food. Bravo.
(5)Colin M.
Clean, contemporary setting, full bar and kid friendly. The menu is extensive, lots of options for both veg and meat eaters. I tried the "Maharaja Mix Grill" that was suggested by the waiter and it was great. This place is the real deal for Indian food lovers.
(4)Russ T.
A group of us wanting to get away from the hotel dined here while in town for a conference in June and the foodies and everyone else in the group raved about the food. While I'm not a complete stranger to Indian food, I'm not a connoisseur either so I ordered a sampler platter and it was incredibly good. The service was great and the staff friendly and helpful. Worth the short taxi ride from the Intercontinental.
(4)Rob G.
Don't know what it says. Curry, scents I don't know. Lentil bean soup, I adore.
(3)Sarah G.
Expensive for dinner, but cheap for the buffet!!! They offer buffet everyday between 11 to 3pm. The butter chicken is great !!!!! , if you haven't try Indian food yet, try this place for the buffet, this way you can try different dishes without spending a fortune. Also their mango ice cream is great.
(4)Billy B.
Situated in a quiet strip mall as it appears many restaurants in the area are. Stylish, pretty busy. Food and service both were good. Prices were reasonable. It appeared to cater to business people (there are some big hotels nearby and it's near O'Hare). We were a party of three who went with an Indian friend who knew what he was doing/what to order. Menu has both North and South Indian food. We enjoyed ourselves and left full. The naan assortment was great! I would recommend.
(4)Coyote B.
I had the goat curry, onion kulcha, and mango lassi. The food tasted fine, but when I was walking back to the hotel, I started feeling bloated and dizzy. When I got into my room, I promptly threw up my dinner into the toilet. I was lucky to make it to the toilet and not leave a mess elsewhere.
(1)Julie O.
I've worked down the street from here for 5 years and I'm just getting here now? I've been missing out!! The lunch buffet at Majaraja is fantastic. Lots of options, all fresh. Many vegeterian options. Not expensive. And the naan is so good.
(5)Scott B.
By far the best lunchtime Indian buffet in the Rosemont area. Great for dinner too. The food is authentic and exactly like what I get when I travel to India. Fresh rich spices, awesome food, and good service. What's not to like?
(5)Sampad D.
Its a dhaba like place . We had asked the host to prepare some spicy food and they did a good job . The tandoori chicken was juicy and stood out from the rest. The service is just great . The hosts were very courteous and customized the food as for our spice level. Ambiance is just OK. Overall a great place for Indian food and service.
(4)Scott T.
Best Indian food I've ever had. Fresh ingredients (including herbs & spices), great flavored dishes. This will be permanently on my must visit list any time I visit the Chicago area. The staff was very attentive and even joked and talked to our 2 year old daughter. I'm very excited my wife found this wonderful little gem!
(4)Padma A.
Thrilled that we were seated quickly since we were famished after shopping for jewels in Rosemont Convention Center however had to holler to get our servers attention.Once we placed our order for Paneer Chili, garlic Naan, lamb Curry and Malai kofta it was brought to the table in 15mins. As much as i appreciated the quick service, the food wasn't steaming and the other negative and reason for getting 3 stars is Malai kofta. Literally 2 kofta bullets with a ton of sauce, when we expressed our disappointment, they brought another kofta bullet after 15 min wait, mind you 1 single bullet. The taste of food was good, better than most Indian restaurants but bland since their clientele is predominantly American.
(3)Arvind W.
The service was marginal. Had to wait 14 minutes to get our orders placed. Had to wait another 22 minutes to get our food. And.. had to wait another 5 minutes to get spoons to serve ourselves the entrees. (Yes, I had a timer running to get these times as I had read a previous review stating long wait times.) Channa masala, aloo gobhi, bhatura tasted bad. It appeared that the chef had just mixed spices/masalas haphazardly and cooked up some random concoction. Roomali roti and Uttappam were OK but not stellar. Sambhar tasted bad. Chutney tastes like it was old.
(1)Raj D.
Dinner with the family. Restaurant was quiet, clean and offered a soft ambiance. The wait staff was very attentive and even offered to make us a meal off the menu. We had them make us a Dham Aloo which is a gravy and potato meal... the only down fall and the reason I did not rate this a 5/5 was that the potato was not fully cooked. We also ordered the combination platter which is not enough to serve 5 but is very tasteful. The onion naan was great.. soft, tender, and not over cooked. All food was very fresh and flavorful. We asked for spicy but the meal was not very spicy so if your a spice enthusiast make sure you tell them to kick it up a notch. The vegetarian dry manchurian offered an outstanding flavor but slightly over cooked and chewy. Unfortunately, we only tried the vegetarian options but I look forward to trying to meal options. Overall I'd definitely be willing to give it another shot at Maharaja. I know they cater a lot of local Indian wedding venues and the food has been great every time.
(4)Kim D.
I waited 30 minutes for my food. I was ready to leave when it finally arrived. One bite of the Kashmiri Naan and all was forgiven! Update. It has been 10 minutes since I finished my meal. No one has stopped by my table since my meal was dropped off. No napkin, no water refills. Apparently the servers who give the great service everyone else raved about are off tonight. I won't be back, despite the yummy food. 4 stars for food, zero for service.
(1)Kelly T.
Great service and food. The lunch buffet is reasonable at $9.99! Parking easy.
(5)N G.
We had baigan bhartha and butter chicken, basic dishes. The eggplant tasted burned and both dishes way salty. From what I could taste through the brine, the flavor would have been okay. For the price, I definitely expected better. I should have also known by some of the reviews too... talking about naan that was not burned... not good criteria to give it a 5 star rating.
(2)M K.
Ok. Service is wonderful, decor is very well put together and thought out, they serve you in a timely manner and are friendly. After taking our order, they kept the courses moving at your pace. They also do not rush you out. My friend and I ate dinner, chatted, had dessert and chai and chatted a lot more. Despite the huge rush that came in after us, there wasn't ever a time where we felt the waiter was hovering over us to leave and get our table. When the rush came, even the owner was out serving and watching the floor to keep the feeling hospitality. Which showed they were a quality place and not in it for the # if customers they can get in the door. After we soaked in the ambiance, then came the food. Delicious food! Not too salty or spicy - a good balance of flavors you truly enjoy. Consider the place for holding a private engagement with a party of 50 or even to bring the family. Great accommodations!
(5)Sandip S.
Amazing food i have never had this kind of food in india restaurant. And mainly chicken garlic kabab, lam boti kabab, chicken biryani, is amzing dish. On my every weekend i ll defenately visit this restaurant
(5)Nic Z.
I teetered between 3 and 4 stars and ultimately decided there was nothing about this that would get me to return - which a 4 should. There was nothing wrong, either, it just didn't knock my socks off. We ordered cheese kulcha and garlic naan (both yummy) along with Lamb Vindaloo and Kadhai Paneer for entrees. Again, both were good, the rice was good, I just wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. Service was a bit...interesting, too. I'll chalk it up to culture, but it got a bit annoying having them repeatedly ask my friend "what the lady will have." Really. I am right here. You can talk to me.
(3)Antonio M.
Overall an ok experience. The service was good and good came out quick. The menu is way over priced for the quality you get. We ordered the shrimp korma and butter chicken. Butter chicken was way better than shrimp korma. The curry for the shrimp korma was the worst I've ever has. The curry for butter chicken was also the worst I've ever had but still much better than the shrimp korma. The naan are $3 each which is way over priced but they were good. Each naan you get four pieces, we ordered 3 and only got 8 pieces (wtf) so I told the waiter about it and he got us more. If you are going to over charge for something at least provide the right amount of food. I've had much better indian food at buffets than this place. The decor was beautiful. Which gets 1 star Friendly server another star.
(2)Justyna B.
This is my favorite Indian restaurant. It's very clean, the food tastes amazing! I love coming for their lunch buffet where you get to try a variety of dishes you might not be familiar with as I was before being introduced to this cuisine.
(5)Jiratt P.
I don't like the food here. Meat was over cook. Dishes was over seasoning. Atmosphere was nice and good services but not enough. Indian food for me really confused. Hot from heat and sometimes too strong seasoning make me afraid to try a new place.
(3)Victoria R.
My fiancé and I love this place! we go at least once a week for lunch. The butter chicken is a MUST have. friendly staff and tasty food :)
(5)D M.
Authentic indian dishes, very good food, extensive dinner menu. Recommend it for lunch and dinner, attentive service, pleasant surrounding, quiet enough for conversation. The garlic naan bread and mango lassi are excellent.
(4)Lauren D.
FRESH, GOOD QUALITY, GOOD FOOD..... Whenever we have to take friends to O'Hare Airport (or pick them up) we tend to stop at this wonderful Indian restaurant which is located on the south side of Higgins Ave in a strip mall and a few doors away from Laredo's Mexican Restaurant (which has very good food as well) and Quizno's sub sandwiches. They offer really fresh, good quality, good food and we always come for the lunch buffet. It is flavorful Northern Indian cuisine where the buffet is always versatile and changes daily ($9.99 during the week only). Of course, they always have the typical Indian fare (such as, butter chicken, chicken tikka and tandoori chicken), but you will also find other unique fare that is not typical. There are different levels of spicy in terms of heat. This is not the best Indian food that I have eaten, but it is 4-star worthy. The employees who work here rarely crack a smile, and are all business. Water glasses are always filled, so service is effusive. They bring the naan to the table, which is always fresh, fluffy and warm. I enjoyed their vegetarian egg roll (which was like a Samosa chaat), and the butter chicken is usually what I prefer. It was exceptional. I was super fain with my food. The sauce was creamy, but not rich and complemented my rice beautifully making for the perfect amalgamation. I soaked up the sauce with the Naan bread, which was warm and fluffy. Each time we have been here I noticed that most of the customers are Indian people, not Americans, which leads me to believe that it must be pretty authentic Indian cuisine. Who are you going to believe someone who has eaten here once and has less than 10 reviews on Yelp? There were only five Caucasians in the restaurant (we were 2 out of 5), but we felt comfortable and welcomed here. Of course, there are much better Indian restaurants in Chicago, but there aren't many Indian restaurant choices near O'Hare. If you want authentic five-star Indian food head over to Devon Ave (near Western). The Maharaja is not worthy of five stars, but it is good for what it is and not horrible. My review is based on having eaten here over 10 times. The food is always consistent and on-point. The service can oscillate, but it is not pediculous though. We usually receive OK service (3-stars). I recommend the Maharaja for their lunch buffet. Dinner is overpriced, and not worth the cost. If you aren't a fan of Indian food, but you are seeking another alternative you can always head up to The Pita Inn on Milwaukee Ave just a bit north of Golf Road (on the west side of Milwaukee Ave). The Pita Inn has very good food, and the price-point is worthy of 5-stars. It caters to vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Some people are sensitive to Indian food. Don't worry. You are not going to become a human fire torch here (like the Marvel comic character). Rest assured ;D
(4)Howard L.
This place is 2.5 years old, and conveniently located off of Higgins in a strip mall. We had a comfortable, delicious dinner here. The food quality is very good and they deserve their high 4 star average Yelp rating. We had a couple of naan breads (garlic, and coconut/cherry), tandoori chicken, and chicken tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala was just slightly spicier than at some other places, but still a wonderful dish. We always like to take home the extra creamy tomato masala sauce, and make another meal of it later with rice and maybe some more meat. Will likely be back sometime. It was also nice to leave without being over-scented like you can be at some extra fragrant Indian places.
(4)Khuram J.
Buffet was good I love the gol gappas and of coarse the mango kulfi was awesome... I would definitely recommend this to my other friends...
(4)Apara W.
This review is for lunch buffet only. Good selection for vegetarians. They had Indo-Chinese options too. Decent appetizers. Good naan. Mostly North Indian oriented dishes. This is 3.5 stars actually. 1 star off, the deserts were finished at 2pm, and buffet is still 3pm. Never refilled. And .5 star off for owner not being too friendly. Customer service could use some assistance. Overall, I do see myself coming back here.
(4)Katie S.
I was really underwhelmed by this restaurant unfortunately, I really wanted to love it. I love Indian food and I was encourage by the amount of natives eating at the restaurant. I'm from the Western Suburbs where we have Kama Bistro, owned and operated by a 5-star chef from India so one could say that my standards are kind of high. I headed here with my parents after picking my mom up at O'Hare. Typically strip mall ethnic food tends to be good and we were hungry so it sounded like a good bet. We were seated and the ambiance was rather tacky. Our water spilled water on our table while pouring our drinks and left it there and my Dad had to ask for him to clean it up when he finally came back around. The waiter was inattentive and seemed like he was doing busy work instead of waiting on table the whole time. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, my go to at new Indian restaurants because it's such a staple. It tasted like chicken in tomato soup and lacked that spice mixture that makes the dish dynamic. My parents had the Dahl Makhani and an eggplant dish which had more flavor. Both were just okay in my opinion. Overall my experience was less than stellar. The waiter made the process slow and made us feel as though our requests for things like to go boxes and napkins to clean up the water mess were a nuisance. I also didn't enjoy my food very much which is why I will not be returning to this restaurant.
(2)Oryana A.
We went today for lunch at this restaurant soon as we walked in and looked very clean and nice it was a little bit busy but not too many people we were seated and immediately were brought our water or advice that we could start using the buffet the food was fresh and deliciousThe service was quick and the waiters were very helpful I will definitely be going there again and taking the rest of my family are recommending this place for lunch for two people and two drinks for the buffet the total bill was $26 which is very good I definitely recommend this place for anybody that loves Indian food
(5)Adri T.
I only come for the lunch buffet as I find their dinner entrees a bit pricey and really...their lunch buffet is a knockout deal...I have always encountered good service and the place is kept clean. I have Indian friends who agree this place is authentic so it is just not my uneducated opinion that agrees. There is always so many things to choose from. Their butter chicken is the best and so is the tandoori..always moist and with a lot of meat. My husband and I like this place so much that we have stopped going to the Indian Restaurants on Devon!!
(5)David R.
This is a solid dinner option near O'Hare, especially if you are looking to avoid the chains. Their website proclaims that "every guest is royalty," but...I felt pretty common. The service was adequate and industrious but not warm. The meal itself was up and down. The samosa was just okay that night, but I liked it better the next morning from the refrigerator. They use an unorthodox crust: rather than the usual thin, oily, flaky shell, this was thicker but lighter. It almost seemed as if they were baked, not fried. I was disappointed in the breads; we got a garlic naan and an onion kulcha, and both were bland, thin, and tough. Thumbs up to both the chana masala and the tandoori shrimp. I wanted a simple, relatively light entree, and the tandoori fit the bill. The sizzling platter contained shrimp, onions, and lemon, with basmati rice on the side. It was a good dinner. My kheer dessert was much more liquidy than I expected, but still tasted pretty good.

I came here on a Friday night around 7ish for dinner, groupon in hand. The menu is extensive, with so many seemingly good options. So, my husband and I decided to try the Maharaja Dinner Special for 2 for $39, so we could taste a lot of things at once. The best part to me was the lentils. I drenched my rice in them and even ate up the lentils with Naan. Delicious. The dish also came with tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, shrimp, lamb, and rice. Everything was cooked well, but for me, the taste was lacking. It was almost like they held back with the spices or something because nothing was very flavorful. I had heard great reviews from co-workers and seen good reviews on yelp, so I was very surprised that I didn't care for the food very much. A coworker has told me to accompany him to the lunch buffet, that it is really good. I'm willing to give this place another try. Maybe the cook was having an off night.

First time eating Indian food. Over all a good experience. Food was very good. Appearance of the inside of restaurant was clean and well kept. Waiters were helpful.
(4)Tejas B.
Food quality was good. Chicken 65 appetizer had only 6 small pieces of Chicken and did not taste good. Chicken Tikka masala tasted good but again small amounts of Chicken. The buffet is good. Probably try other places in the area. Service was really good.

Came here because I wanted Indian food and was limited to something near O'Hare. The people I was with also mentioned they never had butter chicken ebfore and I was like whaaaat? So, commence the journey. This place is kind of hidden but don't let that deter you from the amount of deliciousness that is about to met your face. Mango Lassis (I know these are not a "real" Indian beverage, I get it, I get it, but I love them anyways, okay?!) are delicious, butter chicken is great, tandoori lamb, rice was all delicious. I took off one star because I tried to use a Yelp deal and they gave me a little bit of a run around saying I couldn't use it (they thought no weekends when it was only no Fri/Sat and I was there on Sunday). But everything worked out! Noms. A little bit pricier than what I have seen at other places, but still delicious.

I came here on 3 consecutive nights with my family for dinner and this restaurant didn't disappoint me on all the days. The quality and the taste was consistently awesome. DECOR: The interior is very simple but the restaurant is quite clean even when it is crowded. FOOD: The food is delicious! Across 3 days, we ordered the Tandoori Mix Platter, Tandoori Chicken, Chilli Chicken (Dry), Veg Fried Rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Kadhai, Tandoori Roti and Roomali Roti. I loved everything except the Roomali Roti. I don't think they can prepare that very well. Their Indo-Chinese preparation is similar to what you may get in India and the spice level is perfect for the Indian tastebuds. The portions served are large and each dish can be easily shared by two adults. Of all the Indian restaurants I have visited so far in the US, I have never had such delicious Indian food anywhere. SERVICE: I used Yelp coupon on two days and had absolutely no issues with it. The waiters and fully aware of this coupon thing and were extremely cooperative. PRICE: Very very reasonable! Dinner for four was around $45-50 and with the coupon that came to around $15-20.

took family to maharaja on mothers day called to ask i we hav to make reservation since we have 12 people in our party was told it's first come first serve. i was told about half hour wait waited almost 2 hours for the table since our table was given to the owners daughter's friends who came in partybus about 20 people and they were sitted ahead of when i ask what was going on one of the staff told us since they were owners's daughter's friend they got the table. WHAT HAPPEND TO YOUR FISRT COME FIRST POLICY. OR THEY ONLY APPLIES TO PAYING CUSTOMER AND NOT YOUR FAMILY MEMEBERS. SHOULD CHANGE YOUR POLICY AND SAY OWNER'S FAMILY WILL BE SITTED FIRST NO MATTER HOW LONG THE OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN WAITING.
(1)Nick P.
Restaurant may be good but they can't provide how long wait for the table But their family members gets preferences and get the table first even when they come after people waiting for hour or more

Really good! Met folks at O'Hare, and looked for the best Indian Food in the area to finish our discussion. We were glad we found Maharaja. The lunch buffet was fresh, well presented and delicious....with some of the best Naan I've had. The service was professional and friendly. Great value as well. Highly recommend!
(5)Allen H.
Not an expert on India food, but I like it. Never been to their lunch buffet however twice for dinner. Loved it, fresh, hot, spicy authentic Indian fare, hot naan bread. Good service, I'll be back.

Love this place !!!! Nice and quiet eating are. Very pretty inside. Kind staff. The drinks are amazing. On the strong side just how I like them. Was here 2 times. With a groupon. N will come back again. If u want some good Indian food come here.
(5)Nadia N.
Second time here with a groupon I love it. The food is amazing the drinks are super strong and I love it!!!! Everything I get is so good. Chicken curry amazing... Perfect spices the chicken bariyanni is super good love it. Garlic naan on point I got the green twist and let me tell u it twist you away!! Haha and my fiancé got the tequila sunrise and you see the sunrise afterwards! The ambiance is so pretty and fancy but you still feel very comfortable not having to get dressed up. Def the next time I come here will be for lunch to have their buffet im pretty sure I will be very happy. As the first and my second time I was :)
(5)Judy W.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! You couldn't tell from the outside that the inside was very very nice and sophisticated. Service was outstanding. Let me tell I am not one to try different cuisines but I am glad I did! We ordered a dinner for 2 that came with different chicken dishes, rice and pita bread. The bread was so fresh and warm. I left there wanting more the next day! Oh and their Mai Tai's are to die for!

Not especially good as Indian food in Chicago goes. The Samosas I had were almost entirely potato, and thoroughly uninteresting. My entrée was (over) plentiful, but rice was not. It felt a bit indistinct, the vegetables over cooked, but with cashew halves that felt as if they had been mixed in at the last minute as an afterthought. Meanwhile, it felt a bit shabby. My chair had a two inch tear. One of the sinks in the men's room was full of cloudy water. The paper towel dispenser was empty. Not things I'd be bothered by at a cheap and cheerful place, but they quite undercut the pretension to be a nice place. 2 1/2 *.

I am originally from Austin, TX and I heard really good reviews about this restaurant and wanted to try out their menu. I was very hungry and drove here directly from the airport with a very huge appetite. Sadly, the service was very bad and it took 20mins for the waiter to just show up at our table and take our order. Then I was kept waiting for more than an hour to serve just one order of biryani. Did the food taste good? Well.. After all the wait, I didn't care for the food. My appetite just died completely. Word of advice, please show some interest in your customers.
(2)Rick F.
I'm on this indian food kick right now, can't seem to get enough! Service excellent. above average indian cuisine, ordered the dinner special just to try a little bit of everything. all good. I'm a fan and it right next to my favorite movie theatre. Check it out!
(4)Gurpreet K.
Food was mediocre. Had Chana masala (hard to mess up but they did it) and rogan josh (lamb which was 3/5). Service was not attentive. Plenty of good restaurants around for me to come back here again.
(2)Scott K.
Dinner Special was awesome, a little of everything. Decor is nice & staff was very attentive.
(5)Hetal S.
Excellent food! Bengan bhartha was just the way I like itt....definitely worth trying..service is fast and efficient.
(5)Ozzy C.
Walking in I had high expectations because of the amounts of positive reviews this place had. We were greater promptly and sat comfortably and water was filled right away which was great. As my friends and I discussed the menu we realized it had been about ten minutes and no waiter approached us. Another group of four guys walked in and treated the same with the exception of a few minutes after sitting them a waiter promptly attended them and was making recommendations. It was a great experience (for them)! So after a few minutes more we decided to just leave.. The entire restaurant was empty so it wasn't too much to ask for... Two stars is really because the water tasted fresh... Very disappointed.
(2)Edz L.
Got a groupon for this place and I must say their food was really good. One of the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had. The bread basket was pretty good too. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that if I didn't have the groupon I would've paid more. But still recommend this place.

We were near the airport on a Sunday, and famished, so found this place on yelp. The deal they had on yelp was another pull. However, the place is absolutely disappointing contrary to the ratings this place has. We checked the coupon's conditions and saw that Sunday was OK to use this coupon - however, the manager PEEPED into my open phone to tell me they will not take the coupon because "it's a busy day and a day they will earn on" even before he took our order. We had to fight our asses of to get them to honor a coupon that was valid, the food was decent, the place is loud, but thanks to the overall experience, I will not go back. P.S. The senior manager came and apologized in the end, so the 1 star is for that.
(1)Krishna T.
We came on Sunday and several of the buffet items were stale. Please be cAreful and do not come on Sundays

After a delayed flight and getting in late at OHare, needed a place to grab a quick bite. This place had good reviews and a Yelp deal so it was chosen. Food was OK and definitely not representative of the glowing reviews. I've had better at other restaurants. Do not get the Roomali Roti no matter how strongly the owner recommends it. It's ridiculous at $5 and literally looks and tastes like a flour tortilla. We were tricked with claims that this restaurant was the only place to make it from scratch and made to order. Also $3 for a single naan is laughable. This place is overpriced for mediocre food. That's to be expected I suppose based on its close proximity to the airport and an unwritten rule to gouge tourists of their money.
(1)Jim L.
My wife and I were visiting Chicago and wanted to try something new. The restaurant was empty when we arrived so we were nervous. We ordered the chefs sampler plate ... And be the time the food was delivered there were half a dozen more tables full. The food was excellent ... The staff a bit hurried but I heartily recommend.
(4)David P.
the service was absolutely fantastic - could not have been better. arrived with three children (5, 3, 4 mo.). we all had lunch buffet. set up seat for child in baby seat - 3 year old ate free, and 5 year old got kid's price on buffet. butter chicken was delicious, as were the mixed vegetables. they kept the naan coming like it was going out of business and kept my water glass filled. couldn't have been happier. on exit host pulled my sons aside and asked if they wanted suckers. cherry on top. only reason i'm not giving five (yet) is because we haven't tried the full menu and we were seated in an area of the restaurant that felt particularly hot, like... 80 degrees or hotter. next time we are showing up in bathing suits.
(4)Rob R.
Was there on a Friday night with a big group of people, we were there a little later and only table in a dining room table, so I was a little worried. But the food was really good, we ordered family style and tried a lot of different items. The décor inside was not very authentic, so that was lacking, but food was tasty. Price was also reasonable
(4)Fred M.
Butter chicken, Butter chicken, and more Butter chicken. Great price and value for their buffet. The spicy shrimp dish was also very tasty. The goat curry tasted gamey, skip that for sure.
(3)Bobi L.
So far the food has been great. I have not had the chance to eat inside. But I have ordered takeout before. I've had their chicken tikka masala as well as the garlic naan. I'm very excited about this place because it's been a long time since I had a really good Indian food. I recommend eating here if you love spicy food you want to try something new. The only thing I have to complain about is that I find that the times posted for open and close are incorrect on their website.

Me, my husband and many of our friends enjoy trying varieties of food and Maharaja Restaurant serves the BEST Indian food!!!! Can not find Indian place serving that delicious with great variety buffet (and we've tried a few, my husband even on the business trip to Mumbai as well). Can not beat served food here where so many spices are used, compare to other buffet where the taste is original but just "blah", we never found that great spinach anywhere, everyway they make it at Maharaja. Their food just makes us happy and enjoyable, decor is just nice and we made cople friends there visting very often :) Can not beat the price for the variety of served buffet food as well!!!
(5)Iulia T.
Been here few times already. As we walked in we were greeted and sited right away. What I like about this restaurant is that the dishes are not that spicy( and I eat mild food ) so if you like it hot you can ask them to heated up :) I tried also their buffet, good variety from salad to main course and desserts. I really like their Mango Kulfi and Mango Lassi.
(4)Verushka P.
It was a cold night and I drove by this well hidden Indian restaurant! The outside of this place doesn't doesn't do the interior any justice! As I entered, I was welcomed by friendly staff and pretty cool decor. The aroma of Indian spices and herbs drifted through the air.... The food here is amazing! My favorite dish is rogan josh(lamb curry). The mango lassie(smoothie) was also fresh and wholesome! I kinda wished the portions of lassie were larger tho. Service is great and friendly! The owner actually gave us a free masala tea!(my favorite)..... Enjoyed this place and have been going back!

Came here a few months ago with a Groupon and friends. There were two options: one priced for two people and another priced for four. I purchased the Groupon for four, worth $50 of food. The food here was good, very flavorful, but the portions were really small. I wanted to like this place but honestly, $50 of plates were not enough to feed our reasonable group of four. It would have been enough for two of us but not four, unlike how it was promised in the Groupon description. Food aside, the service wasn't so great. We were at the restaurant for a few hours, most of it waiting for our food or any service at all. Many tables were attended to and served ahead of us. It took forever for a server to come to our table to handle the bill. When one finally did I presented my Groupon (gave him a heads up when I arrived, as I always do), and mentioned aloud that it was for the $50 option. I should note that it also states the amount on the Groupon itself. The server came back with the bill, which looked way too high. I had to wait quite awhile for him to come back and explain it was for the $50 option and they redid the bill, but gave me a hard time about it. It eventually came down to the correct amount but it was tiring to get there. I felt they were trying to cheat me out of my Groupon. Overall, food was delicious but the portions were tiny and the service was slow and inattentive. I'm constantly seeing Groupons listed for this place and honestly I'm not surprised. I have no desire to go back. There are plenty of better Indian restaurants.

I've finally found a food destination near O'Hare!! Traffic was bad going back to the city after landing at O'Hare (which it often is), so stopped by for dinner. Glad we did! Solid Indian food, with several Chinese-Indian options. Which is an interesting blend of the two culinary traditions. Good service.
(4)Tenny D.
Good service. Used groupon without any problem. Food took some time to come but it was worth the wait. Would recommend this restaurant if anyone is craving for good North Indian food.
(3)Taylor M.
I love Indian food, so I decided to try out this restaurant when I was in the area. As Ericka A mentions, the service was lacking. The interior of the restaurant had all of the blinds down so it was dark and dreary. We were also seated in a different section of the restaurant from everyone else which was a bit awkward. I did enjoy the complementary naan and sauces. But I was not as impressed with my entrée. It was not worth the drive for me!
(3)Prabha R.
I truly do not want to give any stars if there is a possibility. I had the worst experience ever. This restaurant tops all the bad ones I have been to. The servers were rude and lacked manners. The food was horrible and the buffet items had no choice. I do not even want to waste my time over get into the details of it. Please do not go to this restaurant. I really doubt if this restaurant is run and owned by the so called 'famous chef'
(1)Mike M.
Not one to order buffets but the offerings at this restaurant were fantastic. The Eggplant dish was especially good. Nice business casual atmosphere only a stones-throw from O'Hare airport.
(5)Carrie Z.
Being a HUGE foodie, I know a good meal when I have one. Our dinner here was on my top 5 fave meals ever! We had the chicken tikka masala & the chicken madras with roomali roti bread. We couldn't get enough. We were skeptical when we arrived bc of the location and when we walked in, it seemed empty... But it was a wonderful surprise. You won't be disappointed!!!
(5)G P.
Unfortunately, over the years the quality has dropped. The place has managed to stay clean and serves average food in taste and quality. It is however not a bad option if you are in the area and are looking for indian food. Not much if a repeat value. After all, everything is relative and for me this is better than the crap that gets served in the restaurants on Devon.
(3)Simone C.
The lunch buffet is amazing! Great value and the food is always wonderful. It's a Rosemont gem!
(5)Mike W.
Another very good meal from Maharaja. We ordered carry out and it didn't disappoint. Lost one star for not Being spicy enough after requesting the food to be spicy. In all fairness though, "spicy" can definitely be a subjective thing. Curry chicken was excellent, so was the 1/2 order of Tandoori chicken.
(4)Abdul Y.
It was a decent place to have desi food. Taste wise - I really liked the butter chicken with naan, the chilli chicken was decent, takka noodles were ok, but the garlic chicken kebab was comparable to frozen chicken that's grilled and there wasn't much of it. Prices were higher than other desi restaurants but they had a groupon that made it worth it. I usually don't care so much about the service and am mainly just concerned with how the food is but the people there didn't seem too happy serving my friends and I for some reason as if we were making their lives dreadful. So yea, if you get that groupon -- it's probably worth it because otherwise I think everything on their menu is about $5+ higher than other desi restaurants like Serena or Usmania.
(3)Amit M.
Excellent food. Nice ambience. We liked Bhuna Ghosht and Non-Veg Platter (qty seems less compared to price) Breads were great. We took the bread basket. Servers were nice and courteous. No major options for the kids - but we asked for some paper and pen and our kid was busy for sometime!
(4)Richard H.
The food was outstanding. I had butter chicken, which is in a creamy red curry sauce, and the spinach, the garlic nan, and the fried vegetable appetizer sampler. Decor was a little tired, but the bathrooms looked recently renovated. Service was fine.
(4)Jacob J.
Solid Indian and Indo Chinese buffet items. Buffet is offered during lunch. Calling ahead (during weekdays) is wise since this is a hot spot for corporate lunches. The one type of restaurant that never gets good feedback is usually a buffet but they do it big here. Everyone is treated like royalty, hence the name. There's a guy that makes sure you have bread on the table, another one comes running to take your used plate and refill drinks. You would never walk in here finding filthy table tops or a dining room of tables with dishes left from customers that previously dined hours ago. The place is maintained, their buffet lines restocked timely and the flavors are very good. All reasons why they get solid stars and manage to be busy day after day. Is it ever bad? There are off days sure. The first time I tried them for lunch the tandoori chicken was too dry. A week or so later I tried them again and the tandoori chicken was perfect. When hitting a buffet realize that timing can be an issue. Of course, you could always order off their menu. Is it really that good? You know on some occasions I've bumped into all kinds of Indian folk in here. At one table I remember hearing Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Some Indian people are traveling from as far as Motorola in Schaumburg or from companies in Oakbrook. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Yes, I am updating my review for Maharaja, again. Mostly, this is because somebody drove their car through the storefront recently, and now it is boarded up--the place looks closed, but they are not! The mess is all cleaned up, they are open for business, and there should be a new pane of glass in there any time now. I wanted to write an update to remind people that this is really the best Indian restaurant in the area. It is by far my favorite. I'd hate to see my fellow diners miss out on the great service, generous portions, huge menu, and amazing flavors because some moron happened to be parking in front of this place when he forgot how to drive. Honestly, this place is like Cheers, but not in Boston, not a bar (though they do have a bar), and not with a fat postal worker spouting trivia. Okay, so it's not really like Cheers, except that when I come here, it feels like everybody knows my name. The waiters remember my husband's favorite dish. The manager asks about my baby. Everyone knows I am going to go through about a gallon of water and stays on it like white on rice. Some of the other regular customers even recognize us and give a little wave when we pass them in the dining room. If I could cook food like this at home (ha!), I probably would still come here, just because I like to be here. It really is that kind of place. (Also, my bathroom is never as clean as the bathroom here, no matter what I do. Yeah, I'm a little obsessed.) Edited to add: They fixed the window!
(5)LENA D.
I've been here twice so far, would definitely go again. I would probably give it 5 stars, except the second time that I went with my boyfriend (who is Pakistani) our waiter only spoke with him, and completely ignored me except to take my drink order. I think he might have actually been a manager...? Not sure. Other than that, the food has been great both times.
