Went in for the first time today. It's now "Salt & Peppe's"-ownership/management change about three months ago. As I come from a family very familiar with trains-I'm sorry that I missed the train decorations; I wish that I had come in before...(side note to goofy guy from 2008 review-trains are NEVER lame.) Anyway, great service, really good food. Very clean. I had the Beef Sandwich-it was very good. They are open M-F 6AM-7PM and Weekends 8AM-5PM. Next on my list is breakfast... Here's hoping for more business for them. I'll be back ;)

I definitely had initial reservations about this place. It's in an unassuming strip mall that looks like it was built in the late 80s. I also wouldn't see that many people eating there when I passed by. Nobody must want to eat here, I thought. But in the end, GG's showed me what's up; it's the real deal. GG's is now a go-to spot for lunch. The Gyros on Pita and the Philly Steak are damn good. They're both straightforward sandwiches packed with flavorful meat. And at $5.10 and $5.95 respectively, they're both easy on the wallet. For a dollar and fifty more, you can get fries and a drink with the Gyros on Pita (or any of the eleven other sandwiches that are featured on the "GG's Best Value" menu). The fries aren't impressing anyone, but it's a good deal with that drink, and you can always jazz up the fries on your own. On Mondays and Tuesdays, pick up a cup of GG's split pea with ham soup. It doesn't look appetizing at all (Really, what kind of split pea soup looks good?), but boy does it taste good. It comes with either oyster crackers or croutons. Get the croutons and get them on the side. Don't make the same mistake I did by hesitating to come to GG's. Sure the inside looks like they haven't renovated or decorated in decades, but in the end it's all about the food, which is delicious. And the reason I wouldn't see that many people there was because I passed by during the slow hours for any restaurant (around 3-5 PM). GG's closes early on weekdays so make it a lunch or early dinner destination. I haven't come here for breakfast, but other reviewers have commented on how good breakfast is here. I don't doubt that it is. GG's is a family-owned restaurant that serves up good food. The food comes out fast, the staff is nice, and the prices won't break the bank. Support this excellent local business by getting your grub on at GG's!

I've been here twice so far. The first time we noticed this little 'fast food' place near our apartment, we stopped in on a quest to find some good spots near home. It was kind of easy to miss -- there are no signs advertising this place and it's on the end of a half-abandoned strip mall. The place had apparently been under different management before; the new owners were talking with us about their remodels, menu changes, hours, things like that. This is a primarily family-run business and they focus on having breakfast and lunch foods for people on the go as they close early on weekdays. I cannot remember what we ate that time, but we both loved our food and wanted to come back (especially after seeing the train sets inside the tables!). We came back again yesterday on our way back from the train station. The train sets in the tables were gone. (Sad panda face.) Three lonely-looking elderly people were dining by themselves. We felt a little bit out of place but stayed anyway. I had a veggie wrap and cheese sticks. My husband had an Italian Beef. The veggie wrap was mostly wrap with little veggies. I hate the wrap themselves so it was really hard to eat this. Plus, it was dripping grease. I'm not getting this again if I come back. The cheese sticks were good, though. And my husband loved his meal (as always). The employees were very friendly and checked on us often, even though they didn't need to. I appreciated their attention. While this isn't the kind of place I would normally dine at (I'm just not a fan of fast food in general), it's a good spot. If you're driving by, or live in the area and haven't been here yet, give the place a try. Friendly employees + family-run + the food is what it's supposed to be = A-OK!

In driving down Irving Park Road in Roselle a friend of mine noticed a place with a hot dog sign in the window. A decision was made to abandon our previous plans for lunch and changed course and headed there. After looking over the restaurant I noticed it was called GG's Grill and quickly typed it into my smart phone. Alas, there was no listing for it on Yelp. I went in, ordered, sat down and created a listing for this eatery as I waited for my hot dog. Inside is a long counter where the menu is listed above and the food is prepared. There's a small corner with the restrooms then the tables are set up on the other side of the counter. There's quite a few chairs and a TV easily visible in the corner for staff and customers to watch. The hot dog here came on a regular non-poppy seed bun. The bun was mostly dry on the outside, but the inside was rather soft due to the excessive relish applied to this dog. There appeared to be celery salt applied here, but it was rather haphazardly put on the bottom of the hot dog only on one side. There was a large pickle spear here, fortunately it wasn't particularly sour, the tomato used here was one large slice that was a bit too thick and too short. The sausage in question was a skinless frank and it was well heated. The mustard was applied pretty well. Overall though, this was a pretty lousy hot dog. The saving grace of this trip (saving it from one stars) was some fairly competent chilli fries my friend ordered. It was a big plate of them and he and I had quite a few. The fries were thin style fries similar to McDonalds fries with cheese and chilli on top. Overall, this was much, much better than the hot dog. In visiting here, I had no expectations and overall I was disappointed. I'll summarize my opinion with this quick limerick. If you go to GG's grill, remember this warning still The hot dogs here are not to be eaten. From Roselle all the way to Wheaton. Other things here might be better, like fries with chilli and some cheddar. Perhaps visit if you're not far, but I'm only giving this place two stars.
