Stopped in here for lunch today. The chips and salsa were great! I had the chimichanga and it was good food at a decent price. The place was clean and nicely decorated. Our server was friendly and helpful and the food came quickly. I would like to return.

Respectable Mexican food. Very fresh ingredients. Clean atmosphere, good service and reasonable prices. Lunch and dinner are different experiences. At lunch you order at the counter and they bring your good. Dinner is more traditional service. They have a small bar but.. Eh. No bartender, servers make their own drinks. Mexican beer on tap... Wonder how old it is? Drinks are nothing special but the food is very good.

Server was attentive and all around excellent but food was terrible. There are certainly better Mexican restaurants in the area. However if you are more into good service, possibly going for drinks this would be a decent place

Went recently with two friends to catch up recently being this last tuesday taco tuesday inside is very well decorated wait staff was a little above average but the food was terrible i ordered nachos they came soggy and with very little of the toppings i asked for my friends had tacos and chimi both were said to be average by my meal was the ruiner i ordered with my nachos 3 enchiladas but i couldnt decide between the hot sauce or mild so i asked for half half the hot sauce had barely any kick at all and tasted as if someone had dumped something in the sauce accidently because it tasted like burnt meat and dish detergent all the members of my group tried it and agreed that that is what it tasted like the other sauce a green one had almost no flavor what so ever except this sickly sweet taste and the tortilla was hard as a rock and the chicken was dry and unpalatable. Maybe i will return but i seriously doubt it

I have been eating at Sabrosa (old and new locations) about once a month for 7 years. The owners, R. and B., do a great job cooking and serving AUTHENTIC Tex-Mex. Having had nearly every item on their menu multiple times over the years, I have never been disappointed. Both dine in, carry out and, weather permitting, outdoor seating were equally good. Sometimes newer servers seem to struggle a bit, but we never have had a problem that wasn't immediately remedied. New location is clean, bright, appropriately decorated and spacious. Food is uniformly quite tasty, however, the refried beans taste like they are "fresh out of the can." - Ask the server or order taker to substitute something else, like a taquito or black beans. All other items are well prepared and generous in portions. Especially noteworthy are the fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tostadas, tamales, tacos, taquitos, chimichangas and the nachos and cheese! Their authentic salsa is appropriate and mildly spicy and smooth in texture. If you want chunky style, have the pico de gallo ("the rooster's beak" - meaning it is understood that it has a little spicy bite to it), which has onions, green peppers, mild jalapeño peppers, cilantro and crushed tomato. The freshly made tortilla chips, pico and guacamole are far superior to other restaurants in the area. For all items they will adjust spiciness, either amp it up or tone it down, if you request when ordering and you have a choice of hot or mild salsa like sauce or salsa verde (green sauce) as part of your order. The Taco Tuesday special is a crowd pleaser. Margaritas straight up, on the rocks or slushy are excellent. Best of all, it is family friendly and they are affordably priced - good value for superior food and service!

I haven't been here many times, but I'll be damned if they don't have the best tacos I've ever had. They bring you chips and salsa at the table while you wait which is a pretty rad practice that I think all Mexican restaurants should get into. They have a pretty stocked bar and the waitstaff is awesome. They have carryout too. I love carryout, man.

Very friendly staff. Nice looking place. I got take out and have just moved from a Chicago suburb where I know has good mexican food! I was disappointed that you have to pay extra to have steak or chicken. I tried a hot and mild sauce. It was okay, but there was no flavor difference, only heat. Got it home and saw that I literally had bigger portions from Taco Bell. I got a small burrito and a taco and paid $8, AND it is Taco Tuesday. I was hungry still when I was done when I thought I would have leftovers. Very disappointing. Furthermore, I asked for steak and I could only taste rice and beans. I will not be back anytime soon.

By reading all the other reviews for Sabrosa, I think I'm the odd man out. We did not have a good meal or dining experience at Sabrosa. The salsa may have been the worst I have ever eaten. It tasted like it was just chunks of tomato. No onion, no cilantro...nothing. And it it tasted sort of old, it had that old tomato whang to it. Anyway, I ordered enchiladas, which are probably my favorite Mexican dish. They were so flat that when I first got the plate, I cut into one to make sure there was filling. There was, but it was very sparse. The sauce on the enchiladas was not good, the enchiladas themselves really didn't have a flavor other than dough and the sauce. The rice and beans were okay, but the portions were really small. Sorry Sabrosa, I really did want to like you, but you let me down. Oh yeah, there was also some confusion about where to pay. My server just left the check and didn't say whether I was to pay her or at the cash register by the door. Most places that have a register, you pay there, especially Mexican places. So, I go up to the register, the woman asksif she can help me and I tell her I'd like to pay. She looks puzzled and says "for what?" Hmmm, this is a restaurant, I wonder what I could possibly be trying to pay for. I had the ticket right in my hand trying to give it to her. My server then pops up and says she'll take care of it and that's the "to go" area only. How in the world was I to know that? She never said to pay at the table and they don't have a sign at the counter that it's "to go" only I really don't think that in the history of this restaurant that I am the only person that has tried to pay at that counter, and that lady looked at me like I was the biggest enigma she'd ever seen. Places should make it clear whether you pay at the table or the register, not everyone is a regular and knows the drill.

I went here last night with a friend to catch up over dinner. I had gone a very, very long time ago when they were in their old location, but wasn't impressed. This location is beautiful on the inside, and the service seemed much improved, as well. They have both a "to-go" counter that you can order from when you walk in, or if you're eating in, you sit down and order from the waitstaff. They also have a small outdoor seating area. We ordered some chips and guacamole, which were delicious: chips were freshly made and warm, and the guacamole was thick and chunky -- delicious! I was a little disappointed that they didn't offer chips and salsa for free. There was a charge for chips in addition to the guacamole. We also got margaritas, which are $2 on Mondays. They were deliciously tangy, and decently strong. I ordered the tex-mex pizza, and my friend ordered the chimichangas. My tex-mex pizza came out on a crispy tortilla. It was a little unusual for a Mexican restaurant, but I really enjoyed it. The chimichanga was awesome, too (not surprising... they usually are!) One disappointment was that the beans that came with the chimi seemed to be out of a can. Price-wise, it seemed pretty average. Overall, I really liked it and would return! The margaritas and the warm, freshly made chips really made it stand out.

I used to live in Texas - and this is the closest I've been since. The food, friendly staff and design of the building so clearly remind me of Texas that I can't help but laugh. First, the food is excellent and cheap. I am so frequently disappointed in the stateline area for assuming that tamales must taste like cardboard. The tamales at Sabrosa are have the right masa texture and slightly spicy flavor and are served in the husk (which is, for some reason, really hard to find 'round here). My other big disappointment is also what passes for queso up here - it's usually just Velveeta or some sort of Kraft reject melted down. Even if that's what they do at Sabrosa, I just can't tell - there's enough spice to give it something special and enjoyable. Second, the staff is awesome. It's rare that you find a waitress anywhere that is willing to help play a practical joke on your spouse (I asked the waitress if she'd tell my wife her ID was invalid). To my great surprise, she played along. Even between laughing about the jokes, she checked up on us and made sure we were doing all right. Finally, there's what we all came for - drinks. These margaritas, while not heavy enough on tequila for me, were still delicious. They come in at least five varieties and came out pretty quickly. If you've ever wondered what it's like to live down in Texas, this is the place. Great food and great people.

Stopped by to get carry out burrito (which was nice and fat, steak was shredded and was good but most of the thickness of the burrito is some pasty tasting rice, not enough meat for me) and had a pretty long wait just to place my order. Apparently, there was an order mix up and the patron before me was missing something. Athough I had to wait quite awhile to get serviced, it was refreshing to see that not only did the staff here apologize profusely, but completely refunded the ENTIRE purchase amount for the inconvenience. I think the guy got back nearly $30! He walked out of there with a smile. That, in my opinion, is the way a business should be run. I will definitely be back here. Thought my burrito was fairly priced for what I got. The atmosphere doesn't feel authentic to me, maybe because its in a strip mall and all the people working there are white. This is definitely not Pilsen quality mexican food but will have to do in this small town.

This restaurant serves the best steak fajitas I have ever eaten. The people who work there are very nice, too. And the prices are very reasonable.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
