There was no train. No problem - there was good sushi. We had a collective taste for some sushi, and we wanted to try someplace new. We found Sushi Train on Yelp, and decided to give it a try. When you pull up, it's in a strip mall (not very impressive). However, once you get past the front door, the place is pretty nice inside. It has tables, booths, and a sushi bar, where three sushi masters were very busy. It took a few minutes (at least 15) for someone to come by for our drink orders. By the time the waitress got there, we were ready to order. This was a Sunday visit, so the place has their Sunday Special - you order a specialty sushi, and you get a regular order for no cost. We ordered a Rainbow Roll, Bears Roll, Crunchy 2 in 1, and Volcano Rolls, and picked up a Shrimp Tempura roll, spicy Tuna roll, Shrimp Asparagus Roll, and Philladelphia Roll. They were all very tasty. The ginger was fresh (not pink!) and the wasabi was very good. The beverages (two types of tea, and a beer) were very good. Downsides: The food took a while to arrive. On the plus side, I never saw the guys behind the sushi bar who were prepping the food slow down or take a break - they were doing a good job making the sushi, and moved with speed and precision. With that said, it was around a 30 to 40 minute wait for the food. There was wifi available from several sources in the strip mall. We liked it - we'll be back.

They have good sushi and good deals on Wednesday and I think Sunday too! I would recommend it to everyone, great for lunch too!

It hit the spot for my sushi craving & was near I55 since I was coming up from Springfield back to Chicago, but I prefer my faves in the city.

Customer service is horrible. Stay away!. Me and my friends came in on Sunday and the waitress which is an old lady gave us dirty look and the way she talks is really bad.

A little disclaimer.. They no longer have Friday drink specials. Their website must be ancient, because when we asked they said that they got rid of that a long time ago. I ended up getting water just out of the principal of it. The sushi was SO good, although I think that a re-branding should be in the works. Calling a place "Sushi Train" after removing the conveyer belt seems silly to me, but what do I know? Don't judge the place by the misidentified name because we all really enjoyed our food. My husband wasn't in a sushi mood (*gasp* as if that's EVER possible) and went for the Pork Katsu. I tried to keep stealing more and more of it. It was good enough to be willing to give up a few bites of my sushi. Our friends we were with ordered 4 or 5 rolls and I got to try a few of theirs and really enjoyed everything, even ones that I wouldn't normally order myself. We were one of the few couples in here on a Friday night, but it was fine because our server was really attentive. I'll make the trip out to Romeoville more often just for a stop at Sushi Train... toot toot.

I was a little worried as I first approached the restaurant since it is inside a nondescript kind of dumpy looking strip mall. Once the door opened into the restaurant I was very presently surprised. I thought the decor was great. I got a sake flight which was very good. For something different I ordered a mango roll and it was very fresh and tasty. They had a nice selection of specialty rolls. I also got a spicy salmon roll. I always worry if spicy food will be too spicy for me but this was no problem. Really needed to be more spicy. Wait staff was very professional and attentive. For sure go when they have specials like on Wed.

I don't get to go to Romeoville a lot, but when I do I stop by at sushi train. This place has phenomenal rolls and I come in on Saturdays for the half off rolls. I get the teriyaki chicken entree as well which is great. They have a lot more desert options then regular sushi places. Super yummy!

Good sushi, poor service, I've been here twice and the food is good, better out there but still good, both times same waitress, no smile just rushes you to get out of there. I thought I'd give them a final try and yes most definitely it was my final try.

The staff always seems unhappy when a customer walks in. Very curt with few words exchanged and were upset that my party was using a Groupon which we told them about before the meal started. They honored it so I guess that's cool. They have good lunch specials and the sushi is decent. Miso is bad. I'm not a fan of fancy rolls in general but of what I've had they were good. I really only come here for lunch. Otherwise, it's too expensive for the amount and quality.

I typically know better than to trust the Chicago suburbs to serve me delicious - or even adequate, sushi. But I went against my better judgement when it came to Sushi Train, due to a recommendation from a co-worker to give them a whirl. I had disposable income and an appetite for fresh fish; to phrase it differently, the day had all the fixings of one noteworthy for it's historically bad decision making. Okay, so maybe that's a little bit of hyperbole. Sushi Train is not a historically bad restaurant. Just an average restaurant masquerading as a great one. The decor is quite stunning when you first walk in, very clean, new, and modern. The wait staff and chef's all look professional, to their credit, although the service was what I would consider less than attentive, and far from welcoming. I came in to order one of their lunch specials, which I figured would give me a preview of what they had to offer while not breaking the bank. I chose the special that came with salad, miso soup, and my choice of three maki rolls from a pre-selected list of maybe around a dozen of their normal maki rolls. I chose only one that had mayo, despite it being a guilty pleasure of mine, one with salmon, and one with spicy crab meat. The salmon was the only one I didn't find utterly disappointing. The spicy crab roll was not spicy in the slightest, and honestly, tasted like it had been cooked in some sort of odd mayo that made it more sweet than spicy. It wasn't necessarily a bad taste, just not what I had expected. The mayo, cucumber, and avocado was completely dominated by the avocado, which likely would not disappoint most people, but I was hoping for a better balance with the ingredients, and believe it would have done well with less avocado. I assume the blame for this order, because I knew this was one possible outcome, but it was disappointing all the same. Otherwise, I thought the salmon was quite delicious. I don't think I would come back to this joint due to the less than impressive state of the crab, the steep prices for food not included in the lunch special, and the substandard level of service. I place a high value on good service, and I feel it is appropriate to dock a full star when it is notably bad; which it most certainly was at Sushi Train. I'd gladly drive to Naperville if it meant good crab and better service. I think next time I will.

This place is great. I love sushi!!! We should all love sushi, and I mean the real sushi not this americanized version of sushi with California and Sweet potato rolls. Those are okay, but if you only go to a sushi place and only eat those rolls then you aren't a sushi lover..... okay sorry about my rant there. This place has some great specialty rolls but the sashimi is the best. I know people say that what is the big deal it is raw fish. But it is the quality of the fish and the knife skill of the chef, and this place gets an A+ for both. The specials could be better and the waitstaff was the greatest, they weren't bad just wasn't as friendly as they could be on a Sunday afternoon. That is why the 4 stars

I give this restuarant 3.5 stars. Went there last night. Got: 2 hamachi sashimi 2 ika sashimi 2 ikura nigiri with quail eggs on top 2 saba sashimi 2 other rolls and a terriyaki salmon for my 2 yr old son. Finished with a green tea ice cream for my son but I ended up eating the entire thing. Pro: Chefs were extremely generous and added 2 extra pieces of hamachi sashimi which were quite fresh as well as an extra ika sashimi. Thank you! Con: Salmon terriyaki was not very tender. It was so thin that when they grilled it, it became crunchy and dry. My son wasn't a big fan which was crap because I ended eating it--- forced myself to eat that while it was drowned with terriyaki sauce. (not a big fan of terriyaki sauce) Ok, so I always order ikura with quail eggs on top whenever I go to any sushi resturant. I've never had a place charge me $1.50 per quail egg for each nigiri. It's usually an extra .50 or so. So I'm a little bummed by that. Everything else was pretty good. No complaints. My son, as usual, loves LOVES the unagi and avocado roll so as soon as that came out he gave me that gesture of "get that salmon crap away from me". Overall, it's not the best I've eaten but it was alright. I honestly would prefer Aodoake Hibachi and Grill over this place. They are wayyy more accommodating.

Went there after Groupon coupon acquired. The food was good, with a rainbow roll and chraschi don. Well presented, but not at the same time. My wife waited an additional 10 minutes. But since e food is not served hot, I didn't mind waiting. What WAS disconcerting, was the male server standing over us, with arms crossed and expressionless, the whole time. I mean like 3 feet away from the table! He pounced when ever there was a need of some sort. I mean, I like attentive service but this was just too much!

I came expecting the same conveyor belt type meal I enjoyed in Tokyo years ago. They shut that down two years ago... too bad. Rolls: Godzilla - 3.5 Decent as expected. Dragon on Fire - 5 This roll takes 20 or so minutes because they first make the tempura shrimp then bake the roll. It comes on tin foil nice and hot. Eel on the outside with a rainbow of mayonnaise spicy sauces. This was a delight to eat. Drinks: They have a $4 martini cocktail special every day. Don't be confused though, ALL they're cocktails are $4 everyday not just the one on special. Our favorite was the mango. These come loaded with alcohol, expect a buzz. Service: They definitely don't come around to see how you're doing very often however they serve the sushi you order as soon as it's done which I like. Our godizlla roll came in 5 minutes, FAST! and the dragon on fire 15 minutes later. Get some miso or two quick to make rolls to bide your time. Overall I thought the place was preety average but had some standouts. I will come back to get the dragon on fire roll for carry out guaranteed.

We went to visit this location because we received a $20 off $60 meal. The visit was on a Thursday night at 6:30 PM. The place was empty when we got in, the hostess was not overly friendly and seated our party of two adults, 1 child, and 1 toddler at a booth. We were provided with a high chair. The restaurant is clean. The decor was standard and very little ambiance. The table had 3 sets of plates, soy sauce dishes, chop sticks, and paper napkins. Our server brought over 1 additional set, 2 glasses of ice water, and asked if we were ready to order. My 8 year old asked for a glass of water. I asked for extra napkins, and told her we were not ready to order. Reviewing the menu, it does not have a wide variety of rolls selections. We were given ample time to decide, and we had asked what the specials were. We were told the specials were on specific days, and that they did not have any on a Thursday. 1 Chirashi Don - $20.00 ( 11 pieces of sashimi+4 pieces of egg, Miso soup & salad) 1 Tekka Don - $20.00 (12 pieces of tuna, Miso soup & salad) 1 Spicy tuna roll- $7.00 4 pieces ofsSalmon roe - $12.00 4 pieces of salmon - $10.00 1 edamame - $3.50 1 miso soup - $2.00 Grand total of $74.50 with tax, $81.58 + $20 coupon = $61.58 with out tip. Overall, the food was expensive service was average. The fish was decent. Miso soup was little thin and lackluster. The salad dressing was terrible, but the lettuce, slice of cucumber, and tomato was fresh. the spicy tuna roll actually tasted more like a spicy salmon roll.

We tried this place thinking it was similar to the Sushi Rotary where the sushi is on a conveyor belt. I guess we assumed that because of the name. I was a bit disappointed at first but so glad we stayed and tried it out. We went today (Saturday) and was given a Happy Hour menu good from noon until 4 p.m. The rolls on the Happy Hour menu were $7.50, half price of the regular menu. There were also a variety of appetizers presumably at half price as well. We ordered two of the Happy Hour menu rolls and a variety of sushi. The sushi was beautifully presented and my husband said they were good. (I prefer the rolls.) The rolls came shortly after and were not "half portions" to match the price as one might expect. They were full rolls and delicious. You can order a dragon roll just about anywhere but no two are alike. That is what I like about trying new places. We ordered the Fiery Dragon Roll and the DJ 77. These were wonderful. Service was attentive.....maybe a little too attentive as our server seemed to stand there and watch us eat about 3 feet away. I'm sure he was just making sure we had everything we needed and even though odd it was better than being ignored. We will return here. Very good food.

Tonight was my last time visiting Sushi Train!!!!!!! What the hell is going on with this people? I was there by my self not in a good mood, and when I paid for the sushi, this guy is coming to me and asks, "why you didn't leave a Tip for me" ? I was terrified when I heard that question, but the coolest part was when the manager is coming and is trying to talk for the guy like she wanted me to feel guilty for not leaving him a tip. Will never go there and also stop all the people I will be able from going there. They are the worst restaurant I've ever been to.

Love this place! Too bad I am now pretty far away from it. Rolls are always fresh and they have some really playful combinations. Service can be hit or miss here. This place is a must when I am in Romeoville! A must try is their JB 77 roll especially if you like it a little spicy!

Of all the sushi places we've tried in the area, this is our favorite. I love the rolls with herbs in them. Nothing like cilantro or basil next to a fresh piece of fish. There is one male server that needs some service skills, but the rest of the staff is great. (Note that there is no fruit juice options for children, but they will give you chopstick helpers if you ask)

Awesome lunch specials! Fish is fresh, California maki is better than most, gyoza cooked perfectly. Try the Bento box. Great bang for your money!

I have had better sushi at other places, but I have never had better service. Here, you are not a customer, you are a person. They genuinely care about you and your experience. Also, the chefs care about you also. If you're not sure what you want or are new to sushi, they will ask you questions about what you like and get an idea about you so they can make reccomendations or surprise rolls for you. Though sushi elsewhere is better, I would definitely choose this place for the service. P.S. I am basing sushi being better elsewhere from only 6 types of rolls, so I could still be wrong about that one.

This place is a bit silly. It's a nice, welcoming place with a few oddities that I feel like they should take care of. We specifically came to this location for the "train" experience because sushi automatically tastes 10x better coming to you via a conveyor belt, right? We were informed that they got rid of it TWO YEARS AGO. I think it's time to update your website. It's not even a minor thing, it was the identity of your business! But THEN, I checked out their website afterward, and yeah, nowhere on the website does it talk about the train experience, but still, I think I was thrown off with their slideshow of photos because it's similar to what a sushi train would be like. Enough of the train and on to the menu. Ton of daily specials and drink specials. This needs to updated. The martini special is every day for $4 and applies to every flavor they have, not just the one or two they have listed for a particular day. I'd suggest getting the mango (fresh, potent) over the pomegranate (cough-drop like after taste took a bit of getting used to), but it was also potent. But either way, they're strong. I wish I had been more hungry to get their speciality rolls, but I settled for the Alaskan, with salmon, avocado and cucumber. I was satisfied with the size, big chunk of salmon and bright green avocado. This was not a big deal, but I wish we would've gotten some advance notice of how long my friends' baked roll would take. It was nice we had the drinks to hold us over.

A bit confusing ... yet still fun dinner for unexpected reasons: No. 1: Remodeled restaurant? - This place no longer does the train / conveyor belt experience, even though it's still called "Sushi Train." My friends and I were a bit disappointed but tried to make the best of the experience since we were starving. Our server said it transformed into a more traditional sushi restaurant two years ago. No. 2: Menu mix-up? - The drink specials section of the menu notes that a different flavored martini (normally priced at $8) was $5 each day of the week. However, our server informed us that the special is actually $4 for a martini of ANY flavor. How is this still a "special" if the price is offered every day for all flavors? It doesn't really matter much since it was such a good deal for a mango martini that was out-of-this-world with the right amount of alcohol and lots of juicy mango. (FYI- Also tried the pear and pomegranate martinis, and they do not even compare!) As for food, my friend ordered the Alaskan Roll, while my husband and I shared the Godzilla and Dragon on Fire rolls. We liked the Dragon on Fire the best for the crunchy shrimp tempura and spicy sauce. However, the rolls had too much rice for my liking. In the end, the sushi quality was decent but not the reason I would return. The major motivation to come back would be for drinks.

There's no train! However, the decor is sophisticated. Nice date night atmosphere. I give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. Went for the lunch special. 11-3. Ordered the $10 macki special, 2 rolls, soup, and salad. My friend ordered the $14 bento box, chicken teriyaki, tempura, Goyza, soup and salad. Spicy salmon roll was a bit "fishy"but decent. teriyaki needed more flavor but they get points for using white meat breast when so many sushi restaurants use a thigh. Tempura was superb. Service was just okay. Waitress hovered less than 6ft over us with hands folded as she watched us eat or watch the tv which was directly above our booth. I'm not sure but it was creepy and uncomfortable. I'd give Sushi train 4 stars except for the creepy waitress vibe. I would visit Sushi train again. I recommend sticking with the lunch specials. The same order for dinner is almost 50% more. Take advantage of the specials. Some days the rolls are half price. Its a worthwhile local sushi restaurant.

It was ok sushi. The rice was above average but the rest of the roll was average. The salads were wet with water, miso was ok. Service was odd, the guy stood five feet from our table and stared at us. They spoke without moving their mouths which I found amusing. Not going back.

Took my mom here for their sunday funday special - buy one signature roll (8 pieces) and get a regular roll (6 pieces free) great deal, great food! The sushi was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The only thing was that our server was not welcoming. We felt very rushed while looking at the menu and like we were annoying him when we each ordered a lemon tini. Then when we were finished with our food he was standing there on his phone and we waited 15 minutes for our check or for him to see if we were doing okay. Just seemed very annoyed with us from the moment we walked in, but the people behind us had a woman server and she seemed to be nice. Either way, i was a little dissapointed and may only be getting To Go from there from now on.

Adequate but not special. Sashimi and sushi were not fresh on a weeknight, but the waitress could not or would not tell us when to come back in order to experience them at their freshest and best. More attention was paid to carryout diners and the tv than to those dining in. We wanted to like this place as it is in walking distance, but with the other better choices in the area we've not bothered to give it a 2nd chance. Dinner for two ran $49, and was not good value in terms of sushi or sashmi.

I went here with a groupon. They have a wide variety of sushi and everything I had was good. The thing that gives this place bad reviews is the service. The restaurant was empty during dinner time on a Saturday and the servers made it uncomfortable by glaring at us the entire time. They don't smile or hardly speak. Our server stood literally 2ft from our table with his arms crossed as we looked over the menu. So rude and awkward. We weren't even done deciding when he came up and asked if we were done. There are so many other places in the area that have good sushi and way better customer service. I won't be returning.

I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner. This was my second time trying them. I have to say walking in you will see that it is a PRETTY restaurant. I really like the atmosphere. Asked for a both (of course) and was seated right away. Great selection of sushi and some ones I have never heard of. Sushi rolls range in price and I want to say between $4.00 to $7.50 I THINK. The only thing they can work on is the service. They will come and see if you are ready and if you say a few more minutes you will end up hunting them down when you are ready. Foursquare people take this note. If and when you check in there is NO SPECIAL like the phone app says. :( This was a shame because we thought nice $10.00 off our bill. Nope! I/we showed the waitress our phone with the special and she had NO CLUE what it was and she had never heard of Foursquare. No comment there. Now I just need to check out these lunch specials sometime that I keep reading about. It will be awhile though. Saturday was a MAJOR diet cheap night!!! LOVED it though. CHEERS!

Tucked away in a strip mall, Sushi Train is a great little sushi spot. Especially if you find them on Groupon or visit on Sunday for the buy one get one free rolls. I've visited the place several times and have always enjoyed myself. I must say I didn't care for the Mango Sake I had, which tasted like they just pored mango syrup into some sake. It didn't mix well at all and it was like drinking regular sake followed by pure syrup. The food comes out fast the servers are friendly and the food is good so it's a great place to visit.

30% off on Wednesdays, BOGO specialty rolls on Sunday. Nice! I first tried DAO in Oakbrook, then decided to try this place since it's way closer to my house. I'm pleased to say there is not much difference in the sushi. We came to SuShi Train as a 2 seater on Wednesday around 6:30PM. Place was BUMPIN busy. Good vibe in there. We were seated quickly. We ordered Edamame for an appetizer. They're peas, so pretty basic. Large quantity. We can eat, so we ordered 4 rolls. Two regular, two specialty. White Sox, Mexican, American Dream, and the Angel roll. I thought all were delicious. My friend ordered a dark soda, and I had Sprite. The we had a combination of servers which was a little confusing for them obviously, because the female server came over and destroyed my Sprite by adding water. I wish she would have asked if I wanted more water first, and I could have corrected her, but she did not charge me for an additional so, it's not a big deal. What I didn't like is how much I felt rushed. I want to chill and eat, you know? We could hardly get the last piece off our plate before they removed it. So much so, that the male server destroyed the last piece of the Mexican roll because he removed the plate so fast he bumped the sushi and it broke all over the table. He didn't clean it up or apologize. They were busy so I'll let it slide, lol. We also got an Exotic Bomba for dessert. If you haven't had it yet, try it! It's delicious. Over all, we will be back. If they don't slow down with the pushiness, I'll have to say something next time.

Very basic, they load their maki up with rice; fish freshness is acceptable, they have some speciality rolls. Don't plan on coming back-- I can pay the same for fresher fish, friendlier staff, more options and better ambience in an instant. Sorry if this review is harsh, but Sushi Train looks like they stopped caring or are minimally trying...

This is a regular stop for us. We love the sashimi deluxe platter. The fish is excellent quality. The presentation is always great. They have one of the best chicken fried rice recipes in the Chicago area. The barbecue eel is fantastic. I don't mind paying for the sushi but they could work on the standard $8.00 cocktail price. I would recommend this place for anyone in the area that loves sushi.

We have been coming to this restaurant since it first opened. It is nice to be greeted by name, have our drink order brought without being asked and getting a nice complementary Kani Salad to eat while we decide what we want. Not a regular? Don't worry. After a couple visits you will become part of the family. 90% of the time we have an excellent experience. Now and then we stumble on something below par. If you are ordering sushi you have nothing to worry about. The fish is always fresh, never "Fishy" and every plate is created with a lot of care and concern. Order from the kitchen and the food is less consistent. Pricing is fair and it is a real bargain on Wednesdays when you get 30% off rolls. Even better is to sit right up at the "Train" on Sundays and choose smaller plates with all kinds of rolls. This is the restaurant that introduced me to Sushi and they still do it better than any place I have been to since.

Simply outstanding. They're in the middle of a renovation which seems to have removed the "train", but the food and service stand alone. It's wonderful to have a top notch sushi restaurant in Romeoville. 2 absolutely delicious rolls and 6 sashimi for $32. Hard to beat.

When I want to have some sushi nearby my place, I choose Sushi Train. The sushi is very good, and on Fridays, they have an amazing Mango Martini drink special...it's yummy! All the rolls are delicious and beautiful. The patrons are always having a good time an enjoying themselves.

First time there, we had a groupon. I am always leary of going to a new place for sushi (spending the night with the toilet after bad sushi is never a good time!). But we were definitely pleased with Sushi Train! The staff was very attentive, and the rolls and sushi were excellent. We will be going back!

I am not going to lie. I was very skeptical of this place when my friend suggested we go here for Sushi. I had always seen this place when going to other places in the strip mall, but I had always ignored it. Reasons for ignoring it---- #1. It looks small from outside #2. Its in Romeoville #3. Its called Sushi train I was pleasantly surprised by this place. This place has really great tasting Sushi. I went during lunch when they had their specials. You can get two rolls for $8 or three rolls for $10. Both of which come with soup and salad. Very nice deal, and this place is decorated very nicely as well.

I did not expect there sushi to be good but it actually was! My friend accidentally bought their groupon and we decided to give it a try anyway. We went there around 1pm and there was only 2 other customers in there. It was pretty empty, the only i kind of didn't like is one of there waitress seems to be a little rude, she was not smiling at all and was pretty serious but we didnt care anyway. The sushi was good. we tried the godzilla as well and it was really good!

A Sushi restaurant with a twist. Up front, there are dining tables and in the back, there is a sushi bar. On Sundays, the restaurant lives up to its name. Since we came on a Saturday, the "train effect" was not an option. Instead, they have "Happy Hour" from Noon to 4pm (on Saturdays only). They offer 10 different sushi rolls at a discounted price ($6.30 - $10.50). I like the large pictures of food that hang over every booth and the large bonzai plants on the way to restroom; the entire place is clean and inviting. A nice selection of sushi, sashimi and rolls. There is a limited but decent selection of appetizers and entrees. I ordered the Unagi-Don (BBQ eel served over rice). For $16.00, it included miso soup and house salad. While they have a good selection of desserts, there is a Cold Stone right next door! A strip mall, dance music and muted sports seem to be the common denominators of all the places I've been so far, lucky me!

There are a surprising amount of good sushi places in the area, but this one takes the title of my favorite. Spicy tuna, mexican roll, philadelphia roll, and shrimp tempura are among our regulars and favorites. Fried rice is also very good. I wish we had the extra money to be adventurous and try some of the more unique rolls, but it's just not in our budget ($12-16 for 6-8 rolls). Service has always been pleasant. Also helps that they offer groupon specials pretty frequently.

The quality of this restaurant is superb. My husband and I visited this restaurant on the 30% off Wednesdays and it was well worth the trip! We tried so many different types of sushi and still had a very reasonable bill. The service staff was very friendly and the restaurant was so clean and welcoming. Not your typical strip mall sushi restaurant. I can't wait to go again!

Sushi reviews really are so subjective, aren't they? I will just start off by saying that I have a decently high standard for sushi. And high standards for restaurants. This place, really offers you a dining experience. Not in terms of the execution and quality of their food, which is closer to mediocre, but his little plaza hole in the wall exudes warmth and clean comfort when you walk in. It's apparent that much effort was put into the presentation of their establishment and their interior, and whether he is the owner, manager/server, head server or dishwasher... the front man works his ass off. He is oh so jolly and personable, but quick and doesn't forget to go joke with a table. If you're looking for a serious and quiet dinner, don't go here. But if you want to eat smiling, head this way. I did mention, the food is mediocre. I do believe that to be the truth, as the rolls are in your standard list of Americanized oversauced, overfried, overfished sushi rolls. You know when most of the rolls just taste the same? Or when some Chinese buffets have impressive-rolls-for-a-buffet? That happens here. It didn't get as bad as tasting fish that shouldn't be served, which is usually the nightmare that goes along with these styles, but they didn't get to shine. The portions were also very unimpressive, in the fish portion and in roll size. I went here on 30% off night on rolls, and I probably wouldn't do it again. I don't think the bill with the 30% off the rolls was worth what we ate, to be frank. If I'm around the area again and I get hungry for sushi around there, I'd definitely give the Sushi Train Sunday a shot. They do seem to strive to be a great establishment, so this place is worth a go.

$9.99 for a three roll lunch? You can't beat that! Great food - great price. Their Spicy Tuna Roll is the best I've ever had.

Sushi here is great! Particularly the volcano and the crunchy 2-1 rolls. The reason Sushi Train gets 2 stars is because of my recent experience here. We signed up for their "text alerts promotions" which is advertised on a sign at the host stand. They sent me a text that said "Today! 1/2 price sushi if you come by 7pm!". Upon arrival, they wouldn't honor the text coupon and act like they dont even know anything about the text alert system they themselves advertise. Management acts confused and just say "no, that text is not from us". Not good business practices. Service in general is also mediocre.

This review is for the desserts only: they are all pre-frozen and not even bakery style. It's all cheap ice cream with freezer burn. Too bad because I really like the sushi here.

My husband and I used to go to Sushi Train all of the time but hadn't been recently. The sushi is still the best I have ever had but they have remodeled the place to look more trendy/upscale. It's very nice but I miss the old hole in the wall feel and atmosphere. I still would recommend it to anyone looking for sushi in the suburbs. The food is fantastic and good quality. However, old regulars may notice a change in the overall mood.

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. Considering we had to pull another table over because we ordered so much sushi it didn't fit and the bill was only around $150(with liquor), I bumped it to 4. Seriously. The 4 of us were having a serious eyes-bigger-than-our-stomachs moment. 30% off sushi Wednesday and so many delicious choices. They even have nightly drink specials. This night being the dangerously good Mango Martini! I could definitely drink a few dozen of those. I didn't see a train. Not sure if they have it anymore? But we definitely made our own train of sushi rolls. Freight consisting of dragons, turtles, angels, possibly a double rainbow sighting, a few stowaway Mexicans. All derailed into my mouth. Everything was fresh and prepared well. I stuffed myself proper, but had to give in and ask for a to-go box. The restaurant is set up in a circle, hence where the train comes in I'm guessing. This makes it nice seating even without the train. You don't feel boxed in because there are only other tables to your left or right. Two things that would have dropped it to three stars: The lights above the tables were like bright spotlights. I started to sweat thinking a detective was going to come in and ask me where I was on the night of a crime. That, or I was about to be beamed up and studied by little green men. Also I felt like we were being rushed out. Towards the end of our meal one guy came to our table about 4 times to ask to take stuff away. I'm making room with wine to fit another piece in, man! Settle! All in all, I'll ride this Sushi Train again.

The food was great, but the service... not so much. We sat down for at least 20 minutes, the place was not that busy, 3 other tables in the place. The waiters/waitresses walked by our table numerous times and ignored us, which btw was right next to the bar, without acknowledging us, no I'll be with you, no what can I get you to drink... Finally, the waitress came by took our drink order, I don't want to wait and gave her my dinner order as well. No one came to check up on us, we had to go get the waitress for our bill after we were done....

When your Asian friend recommends a sushi place in what you consider to be a bit of the middle of nowhere, you have a moment of "say whaaaa?" After I realized that her underlying motive was not to kill me but rather to honestly show me one of her favorite spots around, I gave in... but I'll admit I did say a few Hail Mary's just for insurance. I immediately order the largest Kirin Light they have, thinking I may need it to wash down whatever marginal sushi was in my future. My friend suggested the Kani Su to start, and I had to get my typical edamame. Gasp... both were great! The edamame was perfectly cooked with just a sprinkling of salt, and the Kani Su had a great sweet, sour, and spicy flavor mix - mighty tasty! The depth of the menu was quite impressive. I liked how many great roll choices they offer (both cooked and uncooked). I ordered a spicy salmon roll and the Train's Special. My preggo friend opted for the cooked Sweet Heart roll and some fried rice. First, this ended up being much more food than I had anticipated. I'd normally order 2-3 rolls to a. get enough to eat and b. get enough variety. I ended up leaving 3 pieces because I simply couldn't stuff anything else in! All of our food was excellent, and I will totally admit that I was wrong to judge this book by its cover. In fact, I'll go so far to say that I'd frequent this place if it was in Dallas... yep, I said it.

I have taken out more than I have dined in here. They are fast and accommodating. The rolls are good and fairly priced. Specials are great!! Calling ahead of time is preferred. Very timely with having it ready. Always fresh and delicious!!!

If you are looking for very good sushi at a reasonable price THIS is the place. Nothing fancy about the restaurant but everything we had tasted great. Best place in the south suburbs by far and you wouldn't guess from the strip mall location.
I spent the whole ride to this place racking my brain, trying to come up with what sushi and trains had to do with each other. By the time we got there, I still didn't have a frigging clue. But then when we walked in, it all made sense. But before I explain that, let's talk about the visit. We came in here on a Thursday evening, and we were the only ones there. (During the course of our meal, there were maybe four other customers.) So it was a very peaceful setting. Very dark interior, but still relaxing and inviting. We were promptly greeted and served our drinks, (Sake, beer, and wine were on the menu.) The menu included several Japanese dishes besides sushi, and I started out with some excellent miso soup. We ordered some rolls (Dragon, Godzilla, and Philly.) They were huge, and pretty tasty. The only thing I would change: Lay off the tempura. The crunchy texture and taste of the tempura pretty much eliminated a lot of the flavors I was expecting. The most expensive, I believe was $14. The service was fantastic. It was through our knowledgeable and wonderful server, that we learned what the "train" was all about. The sushi bar itself was surrounded by a square shaped conveyor belt. And on Sunday (reservations recommended) the belt is moving, and there are all different types of sushi on plates roving around. And as they pass you by, you can take a plate (smaller portions of different rolls, at smaller prices.) and enjoy. I thought that was quite a neat concept, and am looking forward to trying it myself. If that's not your style, you can always come in on a Wednesday, when they have 30% of regular price on all of their rolls. That's a deal that can't be beat. I left this place full and happy. The service outstanding, the sushi fair, and an understanding of what sushi and trains have in common. Yay!

Came here on a Friday with my niece. The White Sox Roll was amazing. We had a ton of food (10 rolls I think). Some were better than others but they were all pretty good. Their prices I think were a little high for the specialty rolls but worth it I think. I think on Wednesday you get 30% off the menu if you want to go and try different rolls. the server was really nice and suggested a few rolls since she knew this was our first time. I will be back for sure.

The best sushi around! Don't let the strip mall scare you off or that it's not in an upscale area. The sushi is amazing I have never gotten a roll I didn't like and all of them are made to perfection. Red dragon,jb 77, caterpillar, and angel fest are my go to rolls and the sashimi. Everything is always fresh they even make the soy sauce in house. I drive often out this way just to eat this sushi.

This has to be one of the coolest sushi places I have ever been to. Insides, there is literally a "sushi train". If you sit at the counter, they have a bunch of sushi on different colored plates. Each plate is a different amount, ranging from $2 (I think) to $6. The more expensive ones are the more unique and ornate rolls. Basically you eat what you want, when you want, and pay as much as you want. It's all fresh and made right in front of you. You can also request rolls that you want them to make and put on the train. You don't have to eat off of the train - they have regular meals/rolls. I just think the train is something fun and different. I have yet to see it somewhere else! Not to mention, the sushi is very good!

The food was flavorful and the service was professional and efficient. What really makes this restaurant stand out is the dessert menu. There were a good amount of choices. I had the creme brulee and was very satisfied. I used a groupon for my trip but I noticed that there are discounts for different days of the week so its worth a try especially on Wednesdays if you missed the groupon.

When you look around and see mostly Asians dining in an Asian restaurant, it's a really good sign. However, this Sushi place was just middle of the road. I went with 3 other people, 2 didn't eat sushi before we went and I don't think this experience won them over. The service was excellent, they frequently came to see if we needed anything. The restaurant is cleanly and nicely decorated. The food though, that's what the reviews are about after all, was just OK. I LOVE eel, and the Unagi sushi I had was great but the rest of the rolls were average. The special rolls were way too huge! The rolls have to bite size or else they're just a sloppy mess leaving you with bits of fish and rice falling everywhere. There were a couple of choices that featured asparagus but the flavor of asparagus over powered everything even the wasabi. *When dining with non-sushi eaters and one suggests that they could probably do the chicken tempura roll, SAY NO!! This was the worst roll I've ever had through NO FAULT of Sushi Train. Chicken does not belong in sushi, it was way too heavy and just awful.

My family and I have been going to the Sushi train in Romeoville for a few years now. I do agree the service is a little weird as another customer reviewed. But you CAN NOT get better Sushi in the suburbs. Its fresh, delicious, priced just right and beautifully adorned on each plate. We frequently order take out for the whole family and dine in regularly. We LOVE the Sushi train and we suggest everyone try it!!!

Servers are rude. Especially the male server. Sat on the bar watching TV like it was a huge inconvenience to service our table. We have been coming here for years and the service and sushi have gone downhill. Sat at the bar once and drinks were made in the back not at the bar.

Normally, the fact that a restaurant has 30% off rolls on Wednesday would be a pretty good indicator that you don't want to go to this establishment, Wednesday or otherwise. Sushi Train is a just good enough kind of place to visit without the 30% off, but only for lunch. I've given this place a few gos, hoping that something will jump out at me and make me want to come back, but that has yet to happen. The restaurant itself is not bad, and if it weren't for the Spicy Tuna roll I would've given 4 stars. I found the taste of that particular roll so offensive that I wasn't even able to finish it, despite my leave no sushi behind rule. The lunch bento I ordered on my last visit was good, just good. The peanut dressing was a little watery, but tasty and though the steamed shumai was delicious, everything else was just ok. Big plus for me here was the inclusion of Ramune on the menu. The decor is nothing special, the restaurant is clean and the staff is nice enough. Nothing here really pops to me and with other food options in the area, there really isn't anything drawing me here, which leaves me to wonder why I keep trying...

This is one of my fav spots for sushi in my area...especially on WEDNESDAYS! They have a great 30% of rolls on Wednesday's! The atmosphere is cozy and the staff always helpful. I've tried pretty much every roll and they are all unique and delicious! I love taking friends here it always is a hit. Wednesday's gets packed so I usually make a reservations even if it's just for 2. The staff is great and so is the food!

Very poor service. I came at lunchtime on a Wednesday and the multiple waiters that came by were not only slow but seemed irritated before we had ordered. When one waiter brought our food over, he dropped it down in a not so courteous manner. The sushi itself wasn't that great. I've come here several times and am now deciding I will not come back. I would even prefer Aodake up the street. Their prices are cheaper and have better quality food and service.

This is truly the best sushi place around. Very fresh fish, creative rolls, super friendly staff, great specials and a beautiful ambiance. Wednesdays are extremely busy since all rolls are 30% off. So, I always order to go on Wednesdays. Sundays are fun also when the rotating sushi bar is in service. You can chose small plates (at reduced prices) of things you may not try otherwise. I love to get there early on Sundays and grab a seat at the bar and watch the chefs create the amazing delicacies then decide as the parade of deliciousness goes past! Please don't disregard this little place since it's in a suburban strip mall. It's truly a gem - you'll be glad you stopped in!

Staff had difficulty with basic sushi terms, like "Uni" or "otoro". Once we gave her the numbers on the menu, she had difficulty with computer. Maybe I am a bit picky, but I am used to a cheerful helpful staff when I go to a restaurant. So we waited for order to complete, paid for bill, and left. When I got to my car I checked the order and noticed some of the items we ordered were not there. I looked at the bill and saw that they did not charge me, but forgot 3 items on my order. I went back in, re-ordered what was missed, paid again and left. Staff acted like it was no big deal, but it was to me. The food was OK, but I will not be back - very poor service.

Consistently excellent sushi. Great variety on the menu and it can be hard to decide what to order. The maki rolls Green Forest, White Sox and Dragon on Fire are some of my favorites but honestly, throw a dart at the menu and you will love you what end up with. Wednesday is 1/3 off the maki rolls and you can get your sushi fix, big time, for little money. I love, love, love the train and have been eating there for about 5 years without any disappointment, ever. Their sister restaurant that opened in Burr Ridge (Dao) has SOME of the same rolls as S.T. but not all (they also have Thai food and hibachi section) so even though Dao is closer to home, I will continue to go to the Train for my regular fix, on a Wednesday of course.

When a co-worker of my husband's originally encouraged us to try this place, we first attempted to wrap our minds around 3 concepts: (1) Sushi in Romeoville...and it's edible? (2) Sushi...in a strip mall in Romeoville...and it's edible? (3) Edible raw fish...in a strip mall in Romeoville...and it's called Sushi TRAIN? So glad we got over ourselves and mustered up the courage to give Sushi Train a go, because it 's easily become of our local go-to favorites. We normally call in a carry-out order (we have a 5 year old son - he and sushi don't mix), but love to take advantage of the dine-in Lunch Special when we can. The price for soup, salad and your choice of the select rolls is really reasonable. Some of our favorites are the miso soup, seaweed salad, spicy crab rolls, and tuna nigiri. Can't say we've ever ordered something we've despised, but we usually play our sushi choices pretty safe/traditional. The restaurant is clean, the decor pleasing, and the staff is always warm and friendly. If you find yourself in the area with a hankering for sushi, I would definitely recommend giving Sushi Train a shot.

This place is quite the bargin - going here for lunch again today, and I'm looking forward to it. The lunch special is crazy cheap, and it's not like the sushi is tastless, it's actually very good. I don't know how they do it, but I'm not going to complain. The settings are nice, the location is smack in the middle of a strip mall and other places to eat, but it holds it own. Now I"m off to eat!!!!

Since my last review, I have gone to the "rotating sushi" on Sunday and I would like to discuss that. I was going with a group of people, so I called ahead and they were willing to reserve a couple of spots at the bar for us which I thought was great. The way that it works is that you sit at the sushi bar and there is a conveyor belt that runs in a circle around the bar and you just take whatever you would like to try. The items of sushi are on colored plates that indicate what price the items are. The plates are advertised to be between $1.50-$5.00, but you will find very few plates for $1.50 and several for $5.00. The sushi is great and adventurous with many of the $5.00 plates containing 3-4 pieces of one of their high priced specialty rolls. It is a great way to try some of the more expensive items that you wouldn't want to order at full price without trying. All of the sushi chefs and the waitress were very helpful and suggested rolls that they thought we would like and answered our questions about the items that came out. They will also take special requests if you don't see anything that you would like to try. I really unique sushi experience - I will definitely be back.

TL;DR - Clean, attractive space, great service. Significantly above-average crab rangoons, fresh and slightly-above-average sushi with slightly-above-average prices. Surprisingly good little sushi place, especially for being a strip-mall restaurant. The crab rangoons here were especially excellent, and the most fully-stuffed I've found anywhere - very worthwhile. I had salmon, yellowtail, red snapper and mackerel sushi. The sushi pieces were generously sized and very fresh, and didn't come pre-loaded with wasabi (which I really appreciate). Like many sushi places, (if you are seated at a table, rather than the "train") you are given an order sheet to fill out yourself. Take care to inspect your sheet before ordering - mine had a little scribble on it next to a Spicy Tuna Roll, and since it wasn't really a number, I didn't worry about it. My mistake I guess, but that item did indeed come out. They offered to remove it of course, but I said I'd keep it - they suggested I give it a taste to see whether or not I liked it first, and in the end it was great so I did keep it. I don't normally like rolls, especially spicy ones, so I suppose that's really saying something. The restaurant itself is (pleasantly) dimly lit, very clean and adorably decorated, and the service was prompt and courteous. Prices were a little on the high side - even in Chicago proper it's been a while since I paid $3 for a single piece of Yellowtail sushi, but I still say the meal was worth it, and I'll definitely be back.

Best sushi I've had in the will county area. They do not just have your average rolls, they take it up a notch and provide more contemporary and exotic flavors. My two favorites are Mexican roll and Bears roll. Also half price rolls on Wednesday.

It's Wednesday! And every Wednesday, I think about Sushi Train and their 30% off rolls special. I have been coming to Sushi Train ever since they opened, and have always had great sushi here. The sushi is always fresh, and I have had not so fresh sushi at some well-known sushi buffets - BLEH! Anyway, I would have given 5 stars, but the staff is sometimes not-so-warm. But whatever, the sushi is awesome!

Very good sushi. We loved the Angel Fest and Fujiyama rolls. I would give it 5 stars, but the service was a bit lacking. They bring out rolls one at a time... And we ended up waiting forever for our last roll, after we had ate the first three rolls already. Still, we would definitely go back.

I went last week on another Wednesday for 30% off rolls and sat at the sushi bar, the restaurant was not nearly as packed so the food came in a reasonable amount of time. I had forgotten that the specialty rolls were so big, after a roll and a half i was full! And just fyi the specialty rolls run about $10-15. The waitstaff was outstanding, they have a great relationship with customers. I was sitting next to a family celebrating a birthday, and the whole time the waiter was cracking jokes with them, everyone was laughing and have a fabulous time. Don't see much of family-ish relationships between restaurants and clients anymore, so it was nice seeing it at Sushi Train.

Who would have thought? An amazing japanese restaurant...in Romeoville!?! Sushi Train is a must go. I've been here approximately 6 times and each experience was wonderful. I completely agree with the other reviewer that the staff are definitely the most friendly of any japanese restaurant that I have ever been to. Sit at the bar and enjoy - - you'll find that the sushi chefs are quite creative and love to provide their customers with free samples of roles. Good beer and sake list. Wednesdays are 30% off night - - and even on these busy nights the food never disappoints. Oh, definitely try the dragon roll and the lobster salad sushi - - amazing. And my favorite spicy tuna roll of any that I've tried before. Enjoy!!!

I came here for lunch -- the waiter was rude despite the fact there was nobody else there. I ordered the bento lunch special -- the price was okay, but the watery salad and tasteless food in it could have been way better. At least dry off the salad before dressing it. I won't be back.

I really do think that Sushi Train has the most freshest fish among the Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Crest Hill area. I don't use the soy sauce with their rolls because the fish is so fresh and tasty by itself. They usually have specials two evenings out of the week. I had the "Tiger Monkey" roll once and it was delicious. It was an eggplant wrapped sushi with a spicy tuna. Their sushi is great, but I wouldn't recommend them for hot food. Their teriyaki and yakotori is so-so. But you should definitely go for the sushi rolls and sashimi.

I had heard about this place through a friend of mine. I would say a great sushi place in an unlikely spot. I went on a Sunday afternoon and the "train" conveyer belt was running. Endless small plates of 3-4 pieces of sushi go continuously around the sushi bar. You pick what you want, and they charge you anywhere from $1.50 to $6.00 for the plate, depending on the color. Of course, the more expensive items are on the orange ($6) plate. It was surprisingly delicious, a fresh. I especially liked the spicy tuna rolls and Chicago roll. The place is really clean and tastefully decorated as well. I'm looking forward to going back to try other things off the menu.

We come here on Wednesdays for 30%. It's very busy on Wednesday. The sushi is pretty good, but not the greatest. It's not good enough for me to go there on a day it's not discounted. They have a tendency to not let you know what they are putting in front of you.

I love this place specially on wed. For its 30% off rolls. Sushi can be expensive, but the prices are good and the food is great! I always get the spider roll no matter what else I order. Never sat in and ate but the take out is good and well handled.

I've been to this sushi place a number of times now and I have always left satisfied. I'm glad that they have their Wednesday special of 30% off all sushi rolls! Both my kids love to come here as often as possible. The service is pretty good - one of the waiters is always very friendly and chatty with us. My son always orders the Dragon on Fire and I always get the Crunchy Two in One roll. But I've liked pretty much everything else on the menu, including the green tea ice cream tempura dessert that my daughter got the last time we were here. We devoured it!
(4)
Nicole C.
Excellent Sushi, always fresh. However, I feel like the only time you get good service is if you dine in. If you go in for carryout, they act as if they are being "put out". Also, other places include soup and salad with sushi. Everything is ala carte at Sushi Train unless you buy their combination meals.

Visiting Joliet for the weekend and my sister-in-law took us here after raving about it. It was a great place - great service, good sushi, good prices. The servers gave us lots of suggestions and the rolls came out beautifully (points for presentation!). The rolls are large too. I was really impressed with the service - they were all very attentive to us throughout the meal. Definitely a place to check out if you're a sushi fan.

I'm torn on this review. About a year ago, we ate here every week. It started off really well, but it seemed like the more we went, the worse the service got. The last few times we've gone we've had to wait over an hour for our sushi rolls. There was a time we waited 10-15 minutes before anyone greeted us and took our drink orders. And something is majorly wrong w/ the water. I know it's well water, but the water is not even drinkable. I've also noticed that they have raised the prices of their rolls over a dollar in the last year. Their prices compare to the chi chi sushi bars in downtown Chicago. WTH? $7.50 for a Philadelphia roll?

Sushi Train is a good strip mall sushi place. They have really great rolls and their kitchen options were enjoyed by my sushi-phobic parents. You can either eat-in (fun conveyor going around the restaurant!) or carry out. It's not the absolute best I've had, but it's excellent for suburban sushi.

For my first time ever eating sushi, I have to say that this place is awesome! We went on a Saturday night, the wait was very short and the staff super friendly and helpful. Very beautiful food!! We will be repeating customers.

Excellent Sushi, always fresh. However, I feel like the only time you get good service is if you dine in. If you go in for carryout, they act as if they are being "put out". Also, other places include soup and salad with sushi. Everything is ala carte at Sushi Train unless you buy their combination meals.

Great suburban sushi place. Beats most of the ones in Naperville. Big menu, lots of choices and fresh fish.

Amazing!! If I could afford it, I would eat here every day! The chefs/waitstaff are great and very friendly! Everything is incredibly fresh!! They have great specialty rolls and very creative/colorful presentation. Definitely a hidden gem.... oops, I've said too much ;)

A nice place to do a hit and run of sushi. Usually it's during their happy hour special on Saturdays. Place is clean and staff are very attentive. Will visit again and again.

This place is good. I only ever go here for the train....... The waitstaff is always friendly. If I'm looking for something to WOW me... I go a couple blocks further to Edo!

Simply outstanding. They're in the middle of a renovation which seems to have removed the "train", but the food and service stand alone. It's wonderful to have a top notch sushi restaurant in Romeoville. 2 absolutely delicious rolls and 6 sashimi for $32. Hard to beat.

I'll make the trip out to Romeoville more often just for a stop at Sushi Train... toot toot.
(4)Chris C.
(4)Verena P.
(4)Edin D.
Good sushi, poor service, I've been here twice and the food is good, better out there but still good, both times same waitress, no smile just rushes you to get out of there. I thought I'd give them a final try and yes most definitely it was my final try.
(2)Lauren F.

(4)Audrey S.
Got a groupon for $15 for $30 worth of food. The volcano roll was soooooo good. I will be returning soon!

(1)Kate S.
Love this place! Too bad I am now pretty far away from it. Rolls are always fresh and they have some really playful combinations. Service can be hit or miss here. This place is a must when I am in Romeoville! A must try is their JB 77 roll especially if you like it a little spicy!
(4)Sara W.
(5)Zaza P.
Awesome lunch specials! Fish is fresh, California maki is better than most, gyoza cooked perfectly. Try the Bento box. Great bang for your money!
(5)James M.
(4)Esther G.

I love this place especially now that it has been renovated. It looks so inviting now. Also the sushi it die for! Definitely a place to go try out!

(3)Mike M.
It was ok sushi. The rice was above average but the rest of the roll was average. The salads were wet with water, miso was ok. Service was odd, the guy stood five feet from our table and stared at us. They spoke without moving their mouths which I found amusing. Not going back.
(2)Rachael R.
(3)Stephen P.
(3)Mark J.
Rolls were great, drinks were great. The people who worked there just weren't all there. A bit of an attitude problem.
(4)Mickey M.
Cons: - Needs brown rice as an option! - Nice atmosphere, except for annoying music. - Typical mediocre service Pros: - Good sushi and variety - Decent prices and specials - Good green tea - Sake specials
(3)Lucy H.
(2)Natalie F.
CHEERS!
(4)Zorin D.
(4)Emma A.
(4)Victrix V.
(3)Ryan M.
Tried sushi for the first time here and I loved it. Will definitely be going back.
(5)John S.
A nice place to do a hit and run of sushi. Usually it's during their happy hour special on Saturdays. Place is clean and staff are very attentive. Will visit again and again.
(4)Gordon B.
(4)Michael D.
(4)Twylla S.
This place is good. I only ever go here for the train....... The waitstaff is always friendly. If I'm looking for something to WOW me... I go a couple blocks further to Edo!
(3)Adam J.
Simply outstanding. They're in the middle of a renovation which seems to have removed the "train", but the food and service stand alone. It's wonderful to have a top notch sushi restaurant in Romeoville. 2 absolutely delicious rolls and 6 sashimi for $32. Hard to beat.
(5)Crystal B.
When I want to have some sushi nearby my place, I choose Sushi Train. The sushi is very good, and on Fridays, they have an amazing Mango Martini drink special...it's yummy! All the rolls are delicious and beautiful. The patrons are always having a good time an enjoying themselves.
(4)Tiffany K.
First time there, we had a groupon. I am always leary of going to a new place for sushi (spending the night with the toilet after bad sushi is never a good time!). But we were definitely pleased with Sushi Train! The staff was very attentive, and the rolls and sushi were excellent. We will be going back!
(4)Yvonne I.
(5)Crista D.
(4)Jennifer M.

Sunday Funday special.
(4)Mike R.
(5)Darlene D.
(5)Jiah C.
(3)George G.
$9.99 for a three roll lunch? You can't beat that! Great food - great price. Their Spicy Tuna Roll is the best I've ever had.
(5)Jennifer M.
(2)Angelica G.
This review is for the desserts only: they are all pre-frozen and not even bakery style. It's all cheap ice cream with freezer burn. Too bad because I really like the sushi here.
(2)Suzi M.
(3)Dana G.
(4)K C.

(4)Ryan B.
If you are looking for very good sushi at a reasonable price THIS is the place. Nothing fancy about the restaurant but everything we had tasted great. Best place in the south suburbs by far and you wouldn't guess from the strip mall location.

The food is great, but the service completely ruins the experience. My fiancé and I came in at 9:20 on a Saturday. They close at 10:00. The waitress welcomed us with a horrible attitude, and even hurried us to make our decision on what we were going to eat. It was extremely uncomforting. They need to get their priorities straight, and work on making their service how it should be. Customers always need to be first.

(5)Danielle S.
(5)Takia W.

(3)Janet M.
(5)Jeff L.
Dragon on fire is da best & only found here!
(4)Michele D.
Very good sushi, and great lunch specials! Just wish I wasnt rushed all the time during lunch hour by the waiters, besides that I enjoy it
(4)maureen r.
Servers are rude. Especially the male server. Sat on the bar watching TV like it was a huge inconvenience to service our table. We have been coming here for years and the service and sushi have gone downhill. Sat at the bar once and drinks were made in the back not at the bar.
(2)Lauren T.
(3)Alexis M.
Went here today for lunch with a friend. I got the Maki Lunch Special. It was really delicious and I plan on going back A.S.A.P. I wish I could give it 10 stars.
(5)Diana D.
(4)Raphael C.
(2)Tina M.
(5)Mark S.
(2)Shannon C.

(4)Miguel R.

(4)Casey H.
Best sushi I've had in the will county area. They do not just have your average rolls, they take it up a notch and provide more contemporary and exotic flavors. My two favorites are Mexican roll and Bears roll. Also half price rolls on Wednesday.
(4)Kat R.
(4)Chris B.
A+ lunch specials
(5)Dianna X.
(4)Tracy B.
For my first time ever eating sushi, I have to say that this place is awesome! We went on a Saturday night, the wait was very short and the staff super friendly and helpful. Very beautiful food!! We will be repeating customers.
(5)Jeremy M.
Overall great sushi restaurant. Nice selection. Clean location. Friendly staff.
(4)J C.
(5)Jonathan V.
Never disappoints! Great service, fresh food. Try a sea urchin shooter if you dare.
(5)Ryan K.
Enjoy!!!
(5)Michael Z.
It was ALL I read about! Plus my two daughters loved the marble in the Japanese sodas and the helper chopsticks! Excellent.
(5)Manda A.
I came here for lunch -- the waiter was rude despite the fact there was nobody else there. I ordered the bento lunch special -- the price was okay, but the watery salad and tasteless food in it could have been way better. At least dry off the salad before dressing it. I won't be back.
(1)Ruth H.
(4)R Y.
(4)Stephanie G.
We come here on Wednesdays for 30%. It's very busy on Wednesday. The sushi is pretty good, but not the greatest. It's not good enough for me to go there on a day it's not discounted. They have a tendency to not let you know what they are putting in front of you.
(3)Ted A.
Small place but food is great. My fav rolls are "Dragon on fire" and "Godzilla". Very friendly service.
(4)Christina R.
I love this place specially on wed. For its 30% off rolls. Sushi can be expensive, but the prices are good and the food is great! I always get the spider roll no matter what else I order. Never sat in and ate but the take out is good and well handled.
(5)Cecille A.
(4)Nicole C.
Excellent Sushi, always fresh. However, I feel like the only time you get good service is if you dine in. If you go in for carryout, they act as if they are being "put out". Also, other places include soup and salad with sushi. Everything is ala carte at Sushi Train unless you buy their combination meals.
(4)BIREN P.
Great suburban sushi place. Beats most of the ones in Naperville. Big menu, lots of choices and fresh fish.
(3)J D.
Amazing!! If I could afford it, I would eat here every day! The chefs/waitstaff are great and very friendly! Everything is incredibly fresh!! They have great specialty rolls and very creative/colorful presentation. Definitely a hidden gem.... oops, I've said too much ;)
(5)T B.
(4)Julie B.
(2)Kelly C.
(4)George W.
(4)Ashley L.
They have good sushi and good deals on Wednesday and I think Sunday too! I would recommend it to everyone, great for lunch too!

It hit the spot for my sushi craving & was near I55 since I was coming up from Springfield back to Chicago, but I prefer my faves in the city.

Best sushi I've had in the will county area. They do not just have your average rolls, they take it up a notch and provide more contemporary and exotic flavors. My two favorites are Mexican roll and Bears roll. Also half price rolls on Wednesday.
(4)Kat R.
(4)Chris B.
A+ lunch specials
(5)Dianna X.
(4)J C.
(5)Jonathan V.
Never disappoints! Great service, fresh food. Try a sea urchin shooter if you dare.
(5)Ryan K.

(4)R Y.
Definitely a hidden gem.... oops, I've said too much ;)
(5)T B.
(4)Julie B.
(2)Kelly C.
(4)Kevin T.
Customer service is horrible. Stay away!. Me and my friends came in on Sunday and the waitress which is an old lady gave us dirty look and the way she talks is really bad.
(1)Kate S.
Love this place! Too bad I am now pretty far away from it. Rolls are always fresh and they have some really playful combinations. Service can be hit or miss here. This place is a must when I am in Romeoville! A must try is their JB 77 roll especially if you like it a little spicy!
(4)Sara W.
(5)Zaza P.
Awesome lunch specials! Fish is fresh, California maki is better than most, gyoza cooked perfectly. Try the Bento box. Great bang for your money!
(5)Courtney C.
I'll make the trip out to Romeoville more often just for a stop at Sushi Train... toot toot.
(4)Chris C.
(4)Verena P.
(4)Edin D.
Good sushi, poor service, I've been here twice and the food is good, better out there but still good, both times same waitress, no smile just rushes you to get out of there. I thought I'd give them a final try and yes most definitely it was my final try.
(2)Lauren F.
(2)Kevin B.

(4)Rich R.
(4)Michal F.

(4)Audrey S.
Got a groupon for $15 for $30 worth of food. The volcano roll was soooooo good. I will be returning soon!

(1)James M.
(4)Esther G.
(3)Noelle V.
I love this place especially now that it has been renovated. It looks so inviting now. Also the sushi it die for! Definitely a place to go try out!
(5)Stephen P.
(3)Agnes L.
(3)Chan C.
(3)Mike M.
It was ok sushi. The rice was above average but the rest of the roll was average. The salads were wet with water, miso was ok. Service was odd, the guy stood five feet from our table and stared at us. They spoke without moving their mouths which I found amusing. Not going back.
(2)Rachael R.
(3)Lucy H.
(2)Natalie F.
CHEERS!
(4)Zorin D.
(4)Crista D.
(4)Crystal B.
(4)Emma A.

Tried sushi for the first time here and I loved it. Will definitely be going back.

A nice place to do a hit and run of sushi. Usually it's during their happy hour special on Saturdays. Place is clean and staff are very attentive. Will visit again and again.

Sunday Funday special.

(5)Jennifer M.

(4)Ryan B.
If you are looking for very good sushi at a reasonable price THIS is the place. Nothing fancy about the restaurant but everything we had tasted great. Best place in the south suburbs by far and you wouldn't guess from the strip mall location.
(4)Haley J.

(5)Claira S.
(5)Danielle S.
(5)Takia W.

(3)Janet M.

(3)Alexis M.
Went here today for lunch with a friend. I got the Maki Lunch Special. It was really delicious and I plan on going back A.S.A.P. I wish I could give it 10 stars.
(5)Diana D.
(4)Raphael C.
(2)Tina M.
