Shame on me for not knowing this place even existed. I recently received their Clipper magazine promo in the mail which sparked my interest. Apparently they have been open for 5 years with a second location in Oaklawn. I was greeted by the owner (Niko) immediately upon entering. He is sort of a funny guy calling everyone "maestro". My server was a friendly gal quick on the coffee refills and also had a humorous side to her which was much appreciated. I ordered the Black & Bleu Burger served with mushrooms, bacon and bleu cheese on a toasted bun. It was cooked just the way I requested (medium) served with a side of skin on fries. The side garnish was lettuce, tomato and onions as well as fruit. To be honest it was plentiful and includes your choice of soup or salad. All this for only $7.99. Don't let their location in a strip mall fool you. They have quite the extensive menu ranging from fresh squeezed Strawberry-Orange Juice...YEAH I SAID IT...strawberry orange juice. As I glanced around the room I noticed omelettes, frittatas, scramblers, crepes, waffles, quesadillas, chopped salads and wraps. Lots going on here. I will definitely be back to give their breakfast a try since that is what they are known for. OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK 6AM-3PM.

Nikos is our favorite place to go for breakfast & lunch we go almost every weekend. Sometimes twice lol The service is superb, the portions are wonderful, they dont skimp on any of the ingredients and the owner always comes up to greet you as you were family! Always always delicious!!!!!

This yelp is so long overdue. This place is the business!!! Couple of friends and I were on our way to Chicago and I decided to search Urbanspoon for a nice but different spot. They got a pretty high rating on there so we decided to give it a try. It's a very unassuming place but the service and food are excellent. We ordered a few dishes to start such as the skillet, hash, and pancakes and somehow our appetites expanded. We couldve been rolled out by the time we were done. Unfortunately I dont live close by but you can count on a visit EVERY time I'm headed to Chicago.

Been coming here for a few years. Good service, quick seating and Niko is always greeting people personally.
(5)Josh S.
They had a really extensive menu, I would recommend going there if you were looking to try something new. I wouldn't recommend the creamy crabby omelette though.
(4)Jim J.
Great food and unbelievably fast. Great service with the personal touch from Niko himself! Last time I had the low carb omelet, mmmm! Nikos is the best for breakfast or lunch!
(5)Ashley L.
Always has friendly staff and the owner is very genuine! The food always comes out fast and hot even when the restaurant is packed!
(5)Mikey L.
Hands down my favorite breakfast place in the area! Staff is great, food is good, what more can I say!? Highly recommended checking them out if your in the area.
(5)Mary S.
This place is pretty good for quick service and nice menu selection. They have a lot of creative choices where some other breakfast restaurants are lacking. Will definitely be back. One of the better breakfast spots in the area.

Niko's is a small diner with lots of potential. By potential, I'd like to point out that hanging PAPER PLATES from the light fixtures, even if they are 4th of July themed, is grossly tacky. Not to mention, it's early May. But hey, if the food is fantastic, you go ahead and dangle whatever you want from the ceiling! The best thing about Niko's is that they serve an inexpensive breakfast & lunch menu. I think all of the entrees were less than $10, and the portions are huge. Don't be disillusioned - large portions don't make up for the fact that the food isn't great. It's mediocre in many ways and not at all the 4.5 star rating that is reflected on Yelp. I had the Monte Cristo, which was good, but could have been better if the French toast wasn't soggy. I regretted not ordering the strawberry crepes, but if I had ordered those, would I have regretted not ordering the sandwich? The sandwich was served with a mound of fries and a bowl of chicken noodle soup. The soup was VERY salty. My husband said his breakfast was good though. Niko's could be better if they focused more on the quality of the food and less on the delivery of portion size. SIGH. 'MERICA. The service was terrible. So many reviews mention the owner, presumably Niko, walking around and greeting people. Our SERVER didn't stop to say hello or take a proper drink order. She stood at the next table and hollered, "coffee?" over her shoulder. She served my husband a cup of coffee but didn't stop to ask what I wanted to drink. They didn't stop to drop off water at the table either - which she later blamed on the bus boy but never acknowledged her own errors. When she returned with my husband's coffee, she quickly walked away. When she came back to take our food order, I also asked for an iced tea. She forgot my drink again when she delivered our food. There wasn't even a quick "sorry!" to acknowledge us. Not surprisingly, she dragged her feet with refills and didn't bother adding any ice to my ICED tea. It wasn't busy when we arrived, we were seated immediately when we walked in, so this server appeared to buckle under no pressure at all. The food and the price is the selling point here, so an A-OK 3 stars it is. The service really needs improvement though. I might go back to try those strawberry crepes or bananas foster waffles, but you're more likely to spot me and my pocketbook at a place I haven't tried yet before duplicating efforts at Niko's again.

Irish plate, eggs over medium, wheat toast with a side of hollandaise sauce. That's my order and everything about it is perfect. Do this and you essentially end up with a corned beef hash breakfast. The strawberry OJ is great as well. I go to this place all the time for breakfast, so why might you ask does it only get four stars? The owner can be rather intense if it's crowded. It's just common sense to express your anger out of the view of the public but come in here for breakfast on a weekend and he's bound to erupt on some poor waitress. There are plenty of options on the menu and everything is of pretty good quality for breakfast. Part of me wishes this was a 24 hour denny's type of diner so I can enjoy some higher quality late night eats that this neighborhood needs.
(4)Krystle R.
The food is delicious, and affordable. Plus the service is good. I don't see how anyone can write a bad review about this place.
(5)Leo G.
A regular breakfast spot for us. Omlets are consistently good. Good service and Niko is a great host.
(5)Nicole K.
Food was good, just kind of an average breakfast place! Will return to try some other things!
(3)Jose R.
The best breakfast restaurant I've ever been to. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is amazing! Also I love the large portions!!!
(5)Kornelia C.
This was my first time going here and the experience was fantastic. Very clear the owner loves what he does and really wants his customers to have a memorable experience. The food is rather inexpensive and not a long wait at all. Very tasty too! I will definitely be back.
(5)Alex H.
I love this place. It's very good food, it's awesome on Sunday mornings if you can be there 9-9:15 you'll beat the after church rush. The owner is always greeting meeting and thanking the customers. Their servers, hostess, & busboys have always been on top performance, and it's always a great experience. It's a great Sunday breakfast routine spot. :) I love it. Clean, good mood setter for the day.

Niko's is the best place in the area for breakfast - good food great service & low prices what mor could you want.
(5)Bronx T.
PROS....Decent customer service. i was greeted by 2 employees as a stood by the door....smiles...not overly friendly and annoying...just enough to make you feel welcomed. Contrary to the pics posted online, this place is not as spacious as it seems. Everything about this place is BARE BONES and BLAND..the interior is bland and bare. The food is generic and bland. Tastes like grocery store pre-made food thrown together. Something is up with their eggs or their oil...This time, i ordered the meat lovers omelette called the "Hungarian" and it tasted ok....you would think that the flavors from the pieces of meat will enhance the omelette but that wasn't the case...i honestly could have made an omelette like that with MY EYES CLOSED in the comfort of my home....The pancakes were bare and far from enriched....tastes exactly like generic store brand pancake mix..no enhancements by the chef....they could have at least added some cinnamon, vanilla extract, or nutmeg to add some dimension to the pancakes...that wasnt the case either....if you have functional taste buds then this place will not WOW you....this is a small town mom and pop joint....you are better off going to ihop, dennys, or even tasty waffle which is 5 mins away....THAT skinny brunette cougar at the cash register needs to humble herself....

My boyfriend and I go here almost every Sunday. Great place for breakfast. The food is delicious and they don't just have your typical breakfast food. They have recipes you won't find anywhere else! The food portions are generous and the atmosphere here is very friendly. The owner is an awesome guy too. Always makes sure he connects with his customers.
(5)Mohamed B.
Besides the best breakfest. The Best thing about this place is the experience you get. The setting feels like your in your grandmas kitchen. The waitresses and waiters are so so nice and BEST of all the owner Niko is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Once you walk in he will welcome you like it's his home and he checks on you to see how your doing. The man really cares and is very kinda hearted. What more can you ask for in a breakfast place.
(5)James S.
went for brunch and was super satisfying. portions were huge, food was delicious, and wait staff was very attentive. I recommend to anyone that likes a good breakfast.
(5)Chuck D.
Great breakfast diner. Good is good, reasonably priced but the service is the best. The place is warm and inviting and the staff is awesome.
(5)Zach J.
O why not five stars it is, because they are fantastic and treat you right, they are a breakfast diner, can't expect award winning food.
(5)Tom Y.
Absolute best breakfast in a 45 minute radius. Well worth the price, which is moderately low. Great service and such a knowledgeable staff. They save me money every time I go in by suggesting alternatives instead of me spending all the money on side orders. You receive your food so fast, you always see the owner walking around greeting people. It's very homey, delicious, and all around great.

Came to eat brunch with my girlfriends before leaving my wonderful girls weekend in Chicago and got the Santa Fe frittata. It was filled with avocado, cheese, and bacon while the sides consisted of american diced potatoes and their 3 layer stack famous pancakes. The great thing was that it was all under $8.99 for all that food along with a cup of joe! It was quite delicious! I will most definitely be back when I visit Chicago! :)
(5)Adam J.
I went last year and left disappointed after my Crab Benedict turned out to be a "K"rab Benedict. However I returned today and was unbelievably happy with the menu, food and service. Everything was done perfectly and the portions are huge. I'll certainly be back for more

We've been either ordering food from here or actually going in to eat breakfast, and we've never had a bad meal! I always go for the corned beef hash and eggs or the MBA skillet. Both are delicious, and the toasts always come out buttery. Their servers are always friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a breakfast place around the area, you can't go wrong with this one!

I have to confess to a dirty little breakfast secret, I am a closet lover of potato pancakes. Not just any potato pancakes either - they have to be the authentic made from grated till your knuckles bleed potatoes and then fried just right and serve them with applesauce and sour cream. In my youth, I ate them at Al's Deli in Homewood, rip, and have been on a Grail like search for a new source ever since. Imagine my delight when I happened upon a new spot for breakfast and my eyes fell upon The German Breakfast with, you guessed it, potato pancakes. Ach du lieber, I was hoping for some liederhosen level of lip-smacking potato pancakes. They arrived and the surface looked smooth, not a good sign. It usually means they're made a mix or mashed potatoes. I closed my eyes and tasted them and no yodels of delight, these were your disappointing, easy to find mediocre potato pancakes. Sigh. The eggs were fine, the English muffin was pre-buttered, which I hate when they assume that, but the bacon and orange juice were really good. The man bussing the tables was a delight, super polite with a twinkle in his eye who seemed to genuinely like his job and his life. As I left the waitress who took my check was complaining that she had to perform cashiering duties plus her own job. Not a great way to end my first visit there. One day, one day I shall find my potato pancakes in the south suburbs and I'll never go hungry again!

Great coffee and a great breakfast, no complaints from me or my wife. Service was quick and price was reasonable.
(5)Julia V.
Delicious!! Service is really quick and kind. Definitely recommend :)
(4)Robert G.
Price is little high and used to be worth it. Portions have gotten small and quality is poor. I can get better elsewhere. I wish they would get back to the way they used to be a few years ago.
(1)Jon T.
This is your place if you like weak coffee and runny eggs. Service is excellent.
(3)Joanna B.
Best breakfast place ever! Friendly service and niko, the owner, is usually there to greet you and chat. He recognizes his customers and makes everyone feel welcomed and special. Affordable and generous portions, too. :)
(5)Carolina C.
Delicious food!! Fast and very friendly service. Boyfriend recommends getting there before 10am to beat the crowds. Número uno omelette was delish! Will definitely be back :)
(5)Monica B.
After seeing all the glowing reviews of this place, we decided to try it. If this place is really as good as people say it is, then I just don't see it or was there on an off day. The omlette my husband got was small, the hash browns were cold & greasy, and the pancakes were gummy. I got a crepe filled with eggs, avocado, mushroom and cheese topped with hollandaise sauce which sounds great, but it had no flavor, I even tried putting pepper on it to flavor it up, but that just overpowered it. Service was fine, except the server forgot our request for the special creamer for our coffee and we had to get the hostess who was walking by to get it for us. Atmosphere is cute inside, but definetly won't be going back again.
(2)Terrie M.
Excellent menu. Go early for best service. Younger waitresses not very attentive to guests, more interested in their phones or talking to each other.
(4)Chris B.
On 2 seperate locations found hair in one persons food in our party, ordered chicken salad and got tuna salad
(2)Anna M.
Awesome food, friendly and good portions.
(5)Michael D.
Good breakfast food, great staff. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is definitely coffee shop like but very warm and comforting. The portions are huge. Especially love the corned beef hash with eggs over and rye toast. Outstanding!
(4)Brandon D.
Great food, great coffee, a fun atmosphere, and no complaints. If I could afford it I would eat breakfast here everyday! They have a menu that offers a wide selection, the food gets delivered hot and fresh, and all the workers are very friendly. Just make sure to get here relatively early because it's usually a packed house!
(5)Maria S.
Great service! Good food!
(4)Lynn E.
Very good omelets and breakfast food. Good hash browns, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice atmosphere, and good service.
