This place is GREAT!!!! Cindy K hit the nail on the head with this one.

It's an average frozen yogurt place, aside from the fact that every time I go in there, I feel VERY UNCOMFORTABLE because the people who go there are the kids from rich families who spend their parents' money to eat there, and they're all preppy and snooty. The stuck-up type. They go there because it's trendy or something, not because they really like the food. I always get it to go... The frozen yogurt is good, and there's a bunch of toppings to choose from (candies, fruits, etc.). The price is determined by weight, and is a bit expensive... It's an okay place, I guess.

They are the dirtiest yogurt place around. Floors, booths, chairs, bathrooms....everything is super dirty. Yuck. Yogurt is ok.

This place is always busy. That's how you know its good!! I like the classic flavors because they don't really taste tangy. My favorite is the milk chocolate and peanut butter. Ask for some sample cups at the counter so you can test some flavors.

Loved the yogurt and the dark chocolate raspberry truffle toppings... Didn't care for the cramped layout of the shop as it was very crowded with people pushing to get their yogurt. It was also pretty pricey but very tasty... But not to die for.

This place is amazing! It is perfect for dessert lovers watching what they eat. Rockford seriously lacks in the local ice cream stand department. The city in general lacks a good local resturaunt presence. This is the first chain that I've given 5 stars. It's always packed and a bit startling whats going on at first. But if your just slightly clever you'll figure it out. Sampling the yogurt is such a great feature. Esp for picky ppl. I really hope this place survives....oh wait its a chain so the ppl of rockford think its gourmet. This is chain city

Over the past couple of weeks I've been seeing ads for this place. Today it was rather warm and I decided I wanted something cool to snack on. My wife and I stopped in and this place was PACKED. This doesn't surprise me, someplace new that serves food in Rockford... of course half the population is going to show up! BTW, when I say packed, I mean there where people sitting in parking spaces in front of the building so cars couldn't park packed. We walked in and we barely had room to move. This is where life gets a little confusing. The layout of the building really isn't conducive to any type of crowd at all. People where trying to maneuver around each other to get where they needed to be. As this was my first time there, I didn't know what to do. My wife wanted a smoothie and I wanted some frozen yogurt. As we tried to figure out what we needed to do we had multiple people push past us. Finally another patron explained that if you want yogurt, you have to get a cup and then you fill it with the frozen yogurt you want, go up to the toppings bar, put them on they weigh it and you go. If you want a smoothie you need just order at the register when it's your turn. As I was trying to figure out the yogurt I wanted, I noticed that each flavor had a calorie count per ounce on it. So for those people that are watching what they eat, this can help you to make a smart decision! The topping bar has a multitude of options. There was cereal, nuts, dried fruits, fresh fruits, ground up candy, etc. They don't have all of the options on the topping bar labeled. Some of the spoons said what they where, others did not. I just asked if I wasn't sure. After you put your toppings on you take it to the register and they weigh it. Then you pay and go. I had the Winter's Carmel yogurt with pineapple, granola and almond slivers. My wife had the Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Both were very good. You may not agree with my yogurt/toppings combo, but that's okay it's build your own you don't have to get the same ones. My wife loved her smoothie. Overall, I liked the product. The confusion on the flow and poor layout doesn't please me. That's not going to stop me from going back, especially since I know what I'm doing now.

I'm never satisfied! I've been to many frozen yogurt places that are SO MUCH better than them that it upsets me that they peddle their stuff as "good." They've had their last try.

Fantastic smoothies!

Well, I scoffed at yet another chain opening in our Forest City. But with a Saturday full of errands, a cranky six year old, and a need for the afternoon pick-me-up, Red Mango was in the route for the day. This is a very new business- it didn't show up on the YELP check-in! Very helpful owners, it is an interesting "serve yourself" yogurt bar. Taylor freezers line a wall, with 12 flavors of all natural, gluten free, stevia sweetened yogurt. Flavors like melon, pineapple, Ghiradelli chocolate, espresso, pomegranate, and more. Grab a cup, and serve as little or as much as you like. Mix flavors- the choice is yours! Next, there is the topping bar. I disliked that there were unhealthy, chemical filled options (like cookie crumbles, etc), but there were also a multitude of diced fresh fruits, bobas, seeds and nuts. Finally, place your completed cup on the scale to be weighed and payed. Enjoy! They have a menu of smoothies and teas that they will mix for you. If you have any questions, the friendly staff is ready to help. I HIGHLY recommend that you stop and try a cup of your favorite flavor- you will thank me.

Short Version: As one of the few places in Rockford to get froyo, I'm glad it's Red Mango. They sell more than just froyo, have decent seating, are a pretty modern and nice location, and have decent flavor options. Long Version: I've been to a lot of frozen yogurt places in lots of different areas and states, and this particular Red Mango was actually pretty great. If customer service and flavor selection had been a bit more to my liking, this would easily have gone in my "Top 5" froyo locations. As it stands, I'd go out of my way when coming into Rockford in order to go here. It's a good location. UNLIKE most froyo places, Red Mango doesn't just sell self-serve froyo. They also have smoothies and a ton of other options. A lot of the options looked pretty healthy. However, this does make a slight confusion at check-out. If you walk into the store, do you get to go straight up to the counter and order a smoothie or do you need to wait behind people getting froyo? For froyo buyers, it means you might end up waiting in a longer line to check-out. It all evens out in the end though. Cute little location. Bathrooms were clean too. Decent amount of seating, but they don't have a lot. There are a couple of chairs, some booths, and a couple tables. Not a ton of room inside here, but there's enough to sit and have your frozen yogurt without feeling too crowded. Decent flavor selection too! Each flavor tells you information you need to know like the fat content and how many calories are in it as well as whether it's sweet or tart. Great stuff that I'd want to know. Flavors were "meh". Some great ones, some not-great ones. Decent variety though - their "Oreo" flavor was super delicious, and I very much recommend you try it! A couple of their flavors are made with sorbitol (which can cause upset tummies in some people), but the flavors are CLEARLY labeled and with a warning too. (Froyos with sorbitol can use less sugar and thus have less calories) Good toppings. All of the toppings were fresh and yummy. Wasn't so fond of the GIGANTIC sprinkle container, but it was pretty easy to add all of the toppings I wanted. The price is a bit higher than most places I'm used to. I think it was 50-something cents an ounce. Most places I've gone to are around 45 cents an ounce. Neat little location. The nutrition info being readily available, good flavors, more than just froyo, and the neat little location makes me like this place.

I remember when this location first opened summers ago and it was the biggest hit in town. So much fun to go in and make your own "sundae" with healthy, mouth watering frozen yogurt! Kids think they're getting ice cream while parents get the healthier option they wanted, and no sugar crash. Well, that's before the toppings. All the red mango locations in Rockford are amazing, but this original has a soft spot in my heart!

I like this place, however, I feel like sometimes the yogurt is too icey. It definitely is not consistent. That's a little weird to me. Being a chain I would think they would not vary so much between stores or even the same store. A tad pricey in my opinion. I'll go back back but, not as my first choice.

Not a bad place. Smoothies were very good. My wife got dark chocolate. Didn't care for the dark chocolate, too bitter and sweet, but then again I don't really like chocolate.

My wife and I went to Red Mango tonight after enjoying dinner together nearby. After getting our ice cream, I noticed that the takeout box I brought in from our dinner was gone. Upon speaking with the cashier, I discovered that she had discarded it. "Dang it," I thought to myself. "Now I have no lunch for tomorrow, I'm angry and I'm not even in the mood for ice cream anymore." I thanked the cashier for her apology, while indicating that, due to my sudden (and seemingly understandable) change in mood, I no longer wanted my ice cream. I asked if I could just pay for my wife's and leave. The cashier was fine with that, but the shift manager, Chelsea (who was very young and clearly unable to make customer-oriented decisions), berated me, accusing me of trying to "get back at the store" for throwing my food away. Twice during the conversation, she even threatened to "call the authorities." After spending about 5 minutes creating a thoroughly disturbing scene/verbal assault (all 10-12 people in the store were watching at this point), she apparently realized that I had, indeed, simply lost my appetite. After this realization, her mood drastically changed, she apologized and we left. I sincerely hope this review raises awareness about the attitude you may receive from management at this store. Should the store manager happen to read the aforementioned review, I want to make it clear that, while the act of the original employee discarding my food did upset me, the subsequent actions taken by the shift manager, Chelsea, were far more offensive.

Okay maybe I had a bad experience??? But this place has by far the worst tasting yogurt I have ever experienced. Since when is vanilla suppose to have a fruity flavor to it? Even their standard flavor, which looks like vanilla has a sour taste to it that will make you cringe. I sampled almost every single flavor and was not impressed. I miss the good old TCBY and Cocoa's yogurt days in Rockford. That was the way vanilla yogurt is suppose to be! I don't understand the rave reviews whatsoever...

Absolutely amazing frozen yogurt, and all the fruit you want on top.
