If your best friend's dad had gotten divorced and won the lottery the next day, this would be his basement. Incredible and adventurous beer on tap, cheap, amidst a garage sale decor (a great garage sale, at that.). Don't be too afraid to order some food: they don't mind. And what goes better with a night of drinking than some Uncle Nick's fries and spinach pie? It feels like a secret, and you should consider yourself lucky to be in on it.

Great selection of micro brews and great atmosphere, you don't find any Bud, Coors or Miller here.
(5)Jon W.
Hands down, the best "beer bar" in Rockford at the moment (with locally-owned "The Olympic," locally-owned brewpub "Carlyle," and the franchised "Old Chicago" not far behind). Pints of craft beer for $3-4 are frequently available here, as are rare beers (all on tap). I was able to try the rare/obscure (and well-loved) Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout ("CBS") here, for example, and The Oasis is one of three local places to have had Bell's Hopslam available to drink on tap (the other two places were listed above). They were once a "wine bar" and still have their fancy "wine-nitrogen" system installed for the few wines still served. My only complaint is the food-I wish they had more than merely Uncle Nick's food (from across the street) available to eat there--this does a huge disservice to the INCREDIBLE beers served here.
(5)Mathew K.
The Oasis Micro Pub is a full bar with 26 beers on tap and also offers free delivery of food from across the street (Uncle Nick's). You will enjoy beers from Founders, Dark Horse, Great Lakes, Rogue, and many others. The beers change regularly and will not let you down. If you love beer you have to check out the Oasis.
(5)Shawn L.
If you are in the area.. you must stop in at Oasis Micro Pub. The beer selection is amazing and the Prices are cheap.
(5)Bryan W.
Probably my favorite bar in town. Really laid back with a great personal feel. So many daft beers of different styles to choose from all at a great price for pints and 5 oz samples. Highly recommend for any micro/unique beer enthusiast.
(5)Evan C.
Best bar in Rockford by a long shot. Really the only one I even consider going to when I'm there. Small, cozy atmosphere, but it never really seems crowded (at least when I've been there). The beer beats anything else that Rockford comes close to offering. All at a good price, and rotating. I heard about this place when the owner literally brought gallons of the beers he had there to a beer tasting I was at (pretty awesome). Best kept secret in Rockford, I'm guessing it will stay that way since craft beer doesn't seem wildly popular here.

The day after I turned 21 this year, my relationship with hard liquor ended. Being a little girly girl and prone to ordering tequila sunrises and cranberry vodkas, beer was not something I'd be caught enjoying. Thanks to Oasis, my palate has changed, and I've gotten a new found liking to beer... real beer. Patron who? Miller what? You can't beat $1 samples, ~$4 pints and Uncle Nick's fries at your request.
(5)Todd S.
By far my favorite bar in Rockford. Awesome selection of craft beer. Especially the stouts! Love those stouts!!!!! A totally no frills pub. Come as you are type of place. Never encountered a rude bartender there either. If I had to complain about anything it would be Uncle Nick's food. But then again i don't/won't eat there anyways. All in all Oasis rocks & is my go to place when in Rockford!!!!
(5)Pedro A.
Nice coozy craft beer pub located in downtown with a large selection. The clientele can definitely answer and question you have about Brian Wilson, the album Pet Sounds and photography. Man Buns - Yes Ironic Mustaches paired with thick black frame glasses -Yes the phrase "I only drink craft beer or PBR" utter immensely - Yes Delcicious Brews to offset the amount of hipsters - YES
(4)Ben-jamin D.
I only gave you 4 star's because the place is so small it can be hard to find a place to sit. It would be lower too. But that cute short brunette bartender. Was cute and awsome.
(4)Larry W.
Best kept secret!! Really nice beers on tap...well priced!
(5)Daniella D.
Have you ever wanted to travel back in time to the late 70s or early 80s & have a craft beer from the future? If so, then this is the place for you. You'll understand when you see the decor. All joking aside , I really love what they've done here. Awesome & unique craft beers that you can't get anywhere else in town & for an affordable price. I only wonder why I don't come here more often.
(4)William C.
Just moved to Rockford and stumbled upon this bar. Great prices and great microbrews. Great prices as well!
(5)Mike S.
All about the beer. Paper printed beer menu is cheap as hell but beer selection is pretty good. Decor in the bar is awful, but who gives a shit!!
(3)R H.
Peace be upon Oasis micro pub. Take advantage of their interesting selection of ridiculous beers at great prices while you can for who knows when Uncle Nick's patronage will cease, this place will vanish and next thing you know you're paying ten large for a beer cause there is a gargoyle on the bottle or clown shoes or some other nonsense. Other reviews seem to complain of a hipster infestation but I didn't spot anything out of the ordinary, just a couple of beardos and the sullen women who love em.
(5)Matthew J.
Oasis has the most diverse selection of craft brews in Rockford! The prices are very inexpensive as well. Old Chicago is close because it has a huge selection, but their prices are a little higher and the choices at Oasis are more unique and rare. Being able to order food from Uncle Nick's across the street is an added bonus!
(5)Hillary L.
Great beer but crawling with hipsters. Which is great, if you like hipsters. The bartenders are super sweet and know their regulars.
(3)Erik S.
Staff is nice and attentive. Beer selection awesome and rotating non stop. Small, quiet, comfortable craft bar. And you cant go wrong with uncle nicks food. I'm never let down by this place
(5)Shane J.
Great craft beer selection at fantastic prices. The staff is always super friendly. What keeps the Oasis from being a five star beer bar is the decor. It is in desperate need of a remodel, get rid of the tacky paintings on the walls and the tube TV in the corner, put a nice flat screen up and get a basic cable package.
(4)Lindsey R.
It was very cosy the bartender was very sweet and the selection was very nice. Next time I'm in rockford il I will definitely stop by.
(4)James R.
This is a great little secret in Rockford. It's a good bar with a wide selection and great prices. On draft they have a lot of the local and/or popular craft beers. Their selection rotates, but usually only to other local/popular craft beers. You hardly ever see one that isn't a staple in any of the local liqour stores. (Bell's, Founders, Dark horse, Avery, Flying Dog, Rogue, Two Brothers, etc) They also have some imports. Service is hit and miss. Sometimes I'm served quickly, other's it's a slow long wait. This place is a night ender. With the average beer having a higher ABV than what most people are used to, you don't hit this place early unless you want to get thrashed. Prices are amazingly cheap for what you are ordering.
(4)Geoff L.
What an odd little place. Great beer selection, great prices, just awesome all around. Comfy bar stools too, if I was local this place would be trouble. Third Coast for $3? Yeesh, hard to top.
(5)Nessa R.
I love this bar! I come in usually 2-3 times a week and they always have a huge selection of beers on tap that change weekly, so there is always something new to try. The prices are fantastic. You can also get some beers TO GO! It's small inside, but not unconfortable. The bathrooms are a bit small for my liking, but they are clean! I wouldn't suggest starting your night off here, they tend to have some high ABV beers on tap.

One quick superficial gripe: The exterior is less than beautiful. In fact the ugliness may be deceptively deterrent, but if it doesn't stop you than you've earned the reward of The Oasis for exhibiting a lack of vanity. I'm from Milwaukee, a great town fraught with beer elitists.. a sentiment I am guilty of. My fiancee and I both have family in Rockford and visit pretty regularly. I gave my cousin a ring to see what he was up to and we met up at the Oasis. I was completely in shock at the selection of beers and moreover the price that they were being offered up for. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and capable of making suggestions based on the drinkers preferences. The ambiance has a warm and welcoming lounge feel too it, which on the right night could border on romantic. That being said, if a date is what you're going for I wouldn't recommend making your stop at Oasis late at night or on a weekend, the decibels jump up quite a bit. I don't think I'm being insulting to any native Rockfordians here, but places like Oasis that offer a degree of refinement and culture are as welcome as they are rare. It's great to see the potential of a frequently written off city carry it's pulse through establishments like this. If you're in Rockford, stop here for a drink, it'll be worth it.
(5)Benjamin H.
Awesome brew selection. Food from uncle nicks. Like drinking in 1975. Love it.
(5)Rebecca C.
My very favorite place to go for good beers! The inside is small but comfortable and the women's bathroom is always clean. Great tap beers with an ever-changing menu so you'll always find something different to try. They will bring you food from Uncle Nick's across the street which is not only tasty, but affordable!
(5)D. N.
Very good bar. When I hit downtown Rockford this bar is on the top of my list. It is a smaller bar, but the beer is unlike anywhere else. The staff is super friendly and tentative. The decor is by far interesting.
(4)Chris T.
Awesome beer. Arriving outside at night, we were unsure whether or not we should go in. Yeah, it is a little shady. Once you get inside, though, it's rather nice. A very small bar, there are maybe 7 tables and ~8 seats at the bar. The food is delivered from across the street (a fast food place, Uncle Nick's I think). We liked the food. Not expecting anything fancy, we were very impressed with the place. This is a great place for some awesome beer, which is exactly what we wanted. No TV's, so no watching the game, just some amazing drinks and quiet talking atmosphere. We loved it; 5/5. Expectations were exceeded. Glad we found this bar. Oh, the bartender was very cool, too. The beer is cheap, too, for what you get. $4 for specialty draft imports is incredible.
(5)Jvontai H.
Great unique and rare beers on tap at Oasis. Don't come here if you want a Miller or Bud. The beers change on a regular basis an in some instances they get exclusive access to great beer. I would not call his small venue mainstream. It's a small bar with locals who prefer to drink good beer. They even have cask beer as a special some of the weeks I am in there. I ordered a breakfast stout tonight while having a great conversation with some folks at the bar. I like the fact I can order from the restaurant Uncle Nicks when I am hungry and get things from mozzarella sticks to Gyros which they are knows for. I highly recommend this place to get away from the major bars in Rockford and have a great beer and a conversation with some locals.
(5)T B.
I love beer & I travel a great deal, so I was looking for a spot to try some local brews. They carry an excellent selection at a good price & the atmosphere at this bar is great. The neighborhood is a little off, but don't let that deter you.
(5)John B.
Love this place. Looks kind of...well...sketchy - at least from the outside. Not too bad inside. Actually wonderful, long bar with a ton of beers on tap. Good character. Best thing about it is the constantly changing inventory and super reasonable prices. Second best thing is the ability to order onion rings from Uncle Nick's. Wonderful place. Friendly down to earth servers too.
(4)Dan E.
Like a cozy, beer time machine to the late 70's..
(4)Michael H.
Went there for the first time this weekend with some friends from out of town. I have to admit that the inside and outside of the place isn't the nicest looking, however if you can get past that then you are really in for a treat. The beer was fantastic and a couple of my friends ordered some food as well which wasn't too bad either. Highly recommended for anyone interested in microbrews.
(5)Noah E.
An eyesore from the outside (that doesn't stop there), it is reviews like this one that may get people inside. A huge selection of craft domestics and imports on tap and in bottles--all of which are available for carry-out--Oasis lays claim to the largest beer selection in Rockford. The prices are almost laughably cheap (literally laughably cheap if you've had a few), and if you're hungry the food is driven over from Uncle Nick's. The staff is nice, and the patrons are drunk and friendly. As many reviews have stated, this is where you go for a nightcap (or a bender). Do yourself a favor, brave the ugly sign and make your way inside (using the side door in the alley. See what I mean?).
(4)Becky D.
Avoided this place because of appearance from outside. Decided to finally try it because we only drink craft beer and they have the reputation for great craft beers. We had a great time and the inside was very comfortable. Had a real fireplace with fire burning. Very cozy. The beer selection was outstanding!! Prices were very reasonable as well. We've been there 3 times and its been exceptional every time.
(5)Dayna R.
Great little BEER bar. Imagine where the all the Grad School kids from your college hang out this is THE place. Cozy and comfortable.
(3)Jason B.
I'm pretty sure they have one of the best beer selections in town. I love this place during the winter when I would get a spot right next to the fire place. You can also get Uncle Nick's food from across the street delivered. The beers are changed often so catch them when you can! UPDATE 10-23-20 I took my fiancee there a couple of weeks ago and she LOVED the place. Awesome beer on tap and GREAT prices!
(5)Cory N.
Always a great selection of brews and prices. A tad cramped, but that's part of the atmospheric charm.
(4)Amelia W.
It might actually be cheaper to drive from Chicago to Rockford to drink amazing beer at Oasis than to just stay and drink in Chicago. Oak-Aged Yeti Imperial Stout: $4 for 12 oz. mug Founders Double Trouble IPA: $3 for 12 oz. mug AMAZING! It's not the biggest beer list I've seen, but everything is quality. And not a thing was over $4 when I was there. The food, delivered from their parent company across the street, is actually quite reasonable and quite tasty. This debuts awfully high on my best beer bar list.
(5)Tiffany L.
We love this place! It's quaint, cozy, and the beer selection is awesome. If you can appreciate a nice craft beer, this is the place, and they have something for just about any palate. They rotate their kegs after a couple of months, so their selections are as fresh as possible. The chairs are comfy, and the overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. The best feature in the winter is the fireplace. We've been in there when a bartender didn't know how to make a martini, but I guess it's OK, because if you have to tell someone how to make a drink at least you know it's going to taste good. We've also been in there when a bartender could whip up just about anything we wanted, and it doesn't get much better than that. You don't have to worry about trying to talk over loud music, which can also be a plus if you're in the mood for a quiet evening out.
