I've had sushi throughout the Milwaukee and Chicago-land area, and this ranks up there with one of the best. To top it off, the prices are super reasonable. Rob has always been in there when I've visited, and has pointed us in the correct direction each time we were looking for something new. I love that they have Sapporo on tap. All of their sushi is prepared fresh, and we've been happy each time.

So worth the drive from Chicago! Friends of ours followed Tony San from his former restaurant in Mt Prospect, to his new location in Rochelle. The portions are large, the prices are very, very reasonable especially because the quality is phenomenal. We ordered a bit too much because we wanted to try as many things as we could on our first visit. We now realize the key is to come with friends so that we can share smaller bites of many more things! Rob, our waiter, kindly explained the "tapas" board options (of which there were at least 30!) We ordered, asked for a few recommendations, then enjoyed every bite. How lucky Rochelle residents are to have this amazing restaurant! We'll definitely be back with friends, we've got at least 25 more items to try!

As good as it gets in the middle of the Midwest. My husband and his friends introduced me to Tony's food back when he owned Torishin in Mount Prospect. This is straight up authentic Japanese. Here you will not see maki named, "Flaming Volcano Spider Monster" or "A Hundred Years Of Samurai Solitude" slathered in some spicy mayo based sauce to disguise days old fish. No my friends, these maki are authentic with fresh meat that melts in you mouth, which is impressive considering the location. The Sashimi platter we had with Toro, Hamachi, Sake and Ikura, again, it all melts in your mouth! Should you be a fan of yellowtail, try the Hamachi Kama. I had never tried this until eating at Torishin, and I was sold. Rochelle is lucky to have have such a gem!

This is a gem of a Japanese restaurant in Rochelle, IL. The waitress tells you it is an authentic Japanese restaurant and gives you a hot towel to wash with before eating. The tv plays Japanese shows in Japanese with no English subtitles. The menu has a photo of each dish and our ordered meals looked just like the pics. My Udon noodles with beef was excellent as was my spicy tuna roll. My wife's chicken dish was the best teriyaki she has ever had! We will be back again this week to try more. As we were leaving, Japanese workers from the local Nippon Sharyo plant were arriving in their uniforms, so I think even real Japanese like it!

This is the best restaurant in Rochelle. It only opens for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, so I don't eat on Sundays and Mondays. OK. I'm lying, but I can assure you that, to me, 5pm is also known as the "time in which Yoshino opens." Frankly, I like finding flaws everywhere, but this place has won me over. Not only do they have the best service, but their food is consistently good. If you're not familiar with the dishes, try several until you find the flavors that you like best. The reason I say this is because the dishes here aren't boring. They don't all taste the same. On my first visit, I thought their miso soup wasn't seasoned right, but the rest of my meal was so good that I forgot to go on a miso soup rant when we were asked how our meal was. However, in order to find out if the soup deal had been a fluke or if it was the weakest dish on their menu, I ordered the miso soup on my second visit and that time, it had the right amount of salt, and this made me conclude this place is unusually good because most other places repeatedly make the same mistakes. Yoshino doesn't. If you'd rather eat Japanese food at home while watching Battle Royale, try their dinner boxes. You've got to believe me that Japanese take-out beats pizza. If you don't agree, may Sadako's fury find you. Oh, and if you're Japanese, it may be reassuring for you to know that this restaurant ended up in Rochelle because Nippon Sharyo wanted it to be here, and there's a Japanese menu available, so, uh, meet you there?

You wouldn't give this place a second glance if you passed it on the road but, oh my, what a gem this is! And in Rochelle??? Just the idea of Japanese food in this town makes you really wonder what place/time warp you have entered. There is, in fact, a Japanese factory called US Nippon Sharyo in Rochelle with employees who evidently appreciate the delicate flavors and artistic presentations that characterize food from their island nation. Service was prompt and exceptionally friendly. There were pictures on the menu to assist the wary. Everything we ordered was well presented and served: Goma-Ae (Spinach with Sesame dressing), Katsu Curry (Curry over Pork Cutlet) Eel Don and Spider Roll. The real winner was the Grilled Eel served in a bowl over rice with a sweet savory glaze accompanied by Avocado, Pickled Ginger and other pretty veggies. We will make a point of revisiting this place on a regular basis.

We were visiting fam and friends in Rochelle and made a stop at Yoshinos and wow were we surprised. This is absolutely the best restaurant in Rochelle! Honestly, its better food than most of the places we ate in Rockford as well. Very authentic Japanese food. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and chef and they were wonderful people! We cannot recommend this highly enough if you are looking for a good meal in Rochelle!

The waitstaff was very friendly and did their best to answer questions. The food was alright, not the best I've had, but adequate. Be prepared to make an alternate choice or two - somethings on the menu were not available. Those with gluten or soy issues should look elsewhere - the kitchen is either unable or unwilling to make modifications.

What a surprise find and in Rochelle of all places. The food is great, service is prompt and friendly, prices are good. What more can you expect? I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Japanese food.

Amazing food and staff!! Better than Rockford. Always helpful with selections. What a fabulous place for a small town! I hope everyone takes advantage of this gem! We haven't had anything we do not like and go there frequently. It's our favorite restaurant, and kids love it! They both LOVE the seaweed salad, which shocks me! Their dinner boxes are out of this world! LOVE IT!!!
