Easy to miss, and easy to dismiss, but excellent standard Bohemian food. Roast pork and dumplings were both tender and moist, and excellent bathed in gravy. Sauerkraut was balanced between tangy and bitter. Kolacky made for a great finish to the meal. Standard but very clean diner decor. Would have liked to have seen more than two Czech beers (Pilsner Urquell and Brouczech), and fewer American macros, but you can't win them all.

Good food, nice people. It is a very small restaurant. The people were nice. Serving size was average and the food was not hot. It was nice to eat in a local Riverside restaurant.

I've had take-out here several times and I would compare this place to the likes of Westchester Restaurant, Bohemian Crystal, and Bohemian Gardens Restaurants. Portions are generous, delicious, and VERY reasonably priced. I have always looked forward ordering from this place, and would happily refer it to all audiences.

My husband doesn't like pork, and even he loves their breaded pork tenderloin. I rarely eat gravy, but their pork gravy is delicious! Someone told us that Westchester Inn had better food, but their pork gravy was tasteless. The customer service here is great. Although most of the customers are older adults, the staff are great about taking care of people with families. When our children were little, we'd order a bowl of soup and give them some bread and samples of our meals. If you want a full meal, though, get coffee or hot tea, since cold drinks aren't included in the meal special, and you'll end up paying more than you expect. Our go-to meal is the breaded pork tenderloin, beef noodle soup, cabbage (mildly sweet-and-sour cabbage with caraway seeds), bread dumplings, and a light, fluffy turnover. The portions are large, so we save some for leftovers. I preferred when the beef noodle soup had the tiny noodles, but now it has large curly noodles. My kids are finicky eaters, and they enjoy their food from Little Bohemia.

Having grown up on knedliky & zeli with the roast pork or duck on Sundays, I can honestly tell you I have eaten my fair share of Czech food and that it's NEVER my first choice for a great dining experience. However, I do like my breaded pork tenderloin and Little Bohemia's is the BEST in Chicagoland: Huge portions, pounded fairly thin with just the right consistency of breading. My 82-year-old-Bohemian Mom loves their liver dumpling soup and on occasion, I'll even stray and have the meat pierogi. Tiny little storefront with tacky pictures of Czechoslovakia remind you of home too, LOL!

Stumbled on this place after a visit to Brookfield zoo. Was amazed by the great food and friendly service. Definitely a hidden gem! My parents were also with me and loved it. Very down to earth.

Just moved to town in November and finally tried this place last week. We will certainly be going again. The service was outstanding and the food was great. And you get a lot of it. When the bill came , I was pleasantly surprised for once. Can't wait to go again.

When I was a little girl, my parents used to feed me liver dumpling soup and I still love it to this day. When I get out to the suburbs, I make a point to visit here on Sundays, since they seem to always have it then. I usually get the breaded pork tenderloin dinner with dumplings which comes with soup/salad, and dessert. The portions are extremely generous, wholesome and reasonably priced. It's a small place, but even going there with my whole family, they were able to accommodate us.

I want to preface this review with an "FYI" that my family is absolutely nuts about this place. My mom, in fact, loves this food so much that we have ordered food from there every year for her birthday for as long as I can remember. We usually don't eat from there otherwise just to make sure it maintains its novelty and "special treat" status. That being said, this place is just average for me. I can hardly remember eating the meat here, even though I ate meat up until eighth grade. For the following eighth years, I just ate the sides with everyone's meals. Finally, now that I have slowly started introducing fish into my diet, I ordered the breaded white fish here. You really get a lot of bang for your buck. With a complete meal, I was able to get my fish, an ice cream-scoop of mashed potatoes, a helping of beets, liver dumpling soup, rye bread on the side, coffee, and a pastry. You get all of that for just a little over $7! That, in and of itself, is pretty spectacular. When you come here, you know you're going to have a complete meal and probably have leftovers. My complaint lies in the fish. Even though I haven't been eating fish for long, I do know what "good" fish tastes like. If it's breaded, then it should be a little crispy and there should be some flavor action going on in the taste buds. But this "Bohemian" fish really left something to be desired. Even though we picked up our food as soon as it was ready and ate right after, my fish was just lukewarm. It was a bit rubbery and spongy, as well, and there was no real flavor. I could only finish one of the fish patties (it came with two). The coffee was watered down (which was fine with me because I don't drink coffee usually) and the mashed potatoes were fine with some salt and pepper. The beets were fine, too, but they're hard to mess up. Overall, I will say that I will almost certainly return because my mom loves this place so much. I've never dined in, so I can't speak for their service, so I will update my review if that ever does happen. Otherwise, my concluding statement about Little Bohemia is that you get a lot of food for a little money, although quality is sacrificed, at least when it comes to the fish.

Still one of the best home cooked Bohemian meals ANYWHERE in the Chicago area. Had roast pork without gravy and extra Saerkraut with Egg drop soup...MMMMMMMMMMMM So good and such wonderful people! And why would anyone order Spaghetti and meatballs at Chech restaurant? Jus sayin'

I'll say it is quaint? Went there for lunch. Different kind of menu. Daily specials. OK. But spaghetti with meatballs? A bit inconsistent menu items if you claim Bohemian food. Good service. Great Rye bread. Short, I thought, on Czech, Bohemian food. I had the breaded pork cutlet. 2 huge fried cutlets came out. I am sorry to say, mostly breading and not much pork. The soup was fatty and lumpy! Split pea soup too! I bet they used corn starch for thickener. I've made split pea and never needed a thickener! Good Kolacky! It is a 1 and out. Johnny Chitown

No reviews on Little Bohemia? Such a shame, because Little Bohemia is the near-west suburban area's best-kept secret. Chicago's neighboring suburbs of Riverside, Berwyn, and Cicero still have a signifcant number of Czech immigrants, and this little restaurant still serves wholesome, home-style Czechoslovakian cuisine at very low prices. It's small, but it's a place to come and eat dinners that you'd swear your grandmother was making in the back. Large dishes of dumplings, duck, pork (the breaded schnitzel-style is my favorite here), potato pancakes, sausage and other Old World European favorites. The prices are low, and you're almost guaranteed you'll be taking some of your dinner to go; portions are that large. I've been coming here literally since I was in diapers. Although the items on Little Bohemia's menu may not be very fancy, it's very hearty and delicious. Parking, especially in the evening, is a breeze. During the day Little Bohemia is a quaint anchor to the small shops, bakeries, and cafes in Riverside's commercial center. It also backs up to the Riverside Metra platform and is within walking distance from the Brookfield Zoo.

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. Aside from the chef and waitresses, I was the only one in the place...which was a bit surprising at 11:30am. Had the breaded pork tenderloin. It was good. I'd say it probably holds second or third place for me - I haven't been to Moldau in a while - will have to do that to compare and they can have a cage match to see who's 2nd and who's third :) My favorite is Czech Plaza. It's close, but Czech Plaza's breaded pork tenderloin is on a completely different level on a pedestal by itself. Price was extremely affordable, especially considering the size. The two huge pieces set next to each other would have been larger than the plate by a LOT. I will be back because it's close and the service was better than at Czech Plaza (then again this is a MUCH smaller place, which helps).

Nothing special, my husband had the duck and said it was rubbery and not tender like it is supposed to be. My breaded pork tenderloin was kind of soggy and overbreaded. The only thing that was good was the sauerkraut, but we won't be going back for just that. Atmosphere is very cheaply decorated and they charge extra for a refill on your soda, which is so tacky. The service was just fine, nothing out of the ordinary. If you want this kind of Czech food then go to Bohemian Crystal in Westmont, the food is much better there.

Now I like some solid hearty rustic European Food & Little Bohemia has it! When I first moved to the Berwyn/Stickney/Forest View Area I found myself lost in downtown Riverside, decided to park the car and ask how the heck to get out of the neighborhood...and came upon Little Bohemia. I had a schnitzel style lunch with breaded pork cutlet, tons of brown gravy, potato dumplings, & salad (I think it was cucumber salad). It was awesome; that lunch was exactly as my Oma would have made it herself. I've been back one other time with my sister - we both had some kind of combination plates with dumplings, Something akin to Sauer Braten, the Schnitzel, & dessert and again - great food/great price! The dining room as small and plain - almost tiny & you do get the feeling that you are eating in someone's home. So add cozy + comfort food = get out to the burbs and have a delicious meal already. Your Oma would be proud. Plus Little Bohemia is located on one of the non-windy roads of Riverside so you can find your way to/from the restaurant w/o any trouble at all - or take the Metra!

I grew up in Chicago in Gage Park (on the southwest side) and I remember when there used to be great European restuarants on almost every block in nearby Brighton Park, Garfield Ridge, etc. Little Bohemia takes me back to those days. The food is authentic and excellent - they even have a real Bohemian cook so you know the recipes and the cooking are legit! Do not expect anything fancy, just good old fashion cooking like grandma's and the price cannot be beat. My boyfriend and I a read more " te there a few weeks ago and received complete meals (entree, soup, coffee and dessert) for about $18 total! I also really enjoy going during the week when there are a lot of locals hanging out there talking about "the old days" - it makes me feel like a kid and very happy and proud that there are still great european restuarants in the Chicagoland area.
