Elders is our favorite place in Quincy for good American comfort food. The ribs and kraut daily special is one of my favorites. My spouse loves the fried chicken. It's a friendly place.

Wow, grease central, and dirty tables. Seems to be very popular locally, but I'm missing something. The place even smells like old grease.

Been there twice and did not like anything about it.

Elder's has been a favorite of my family for quite some time. We make a trip every time I come in town. Our favorite is the fried chicken, which is honestly the best I've ever had. The previous poster was spot on when he described it as Midwestern river food, you're not likely to find anything extremely health-conscious on the menu, but that's not why you go to Elder's in the first place. The nightly specials are also very good, and are consistent in their rotation so that if you have one you really enjoy, you're able to come back the same day next week and enjoy it all over again.

My son goes to school in Quincy and we like to try what seem to be "local favorites" when we come down to visit. We were looking for a lunch spot yesterday and Elders looked good, in a "blast from the past" kind of way. The interior is kind of fun, with lots of old signage etc, but it is also very worn out and dirty, with the booths and tables oddly arranged. We ordered a hamburger, catfish, a BBQ beef sandwich and chicken tenders. My son said the chicken tasted like it had been in the freezer for too long and my daughter in law thought her BBQ beef had come from a can. The catfish was ok and my husband liked his burger. I asked for cream for my coffee and was handed packets of powder...seriously? All in all, kind of a gross experience that we won't be repeating.

Elders Is great for what it is. Come in only for grease packed food! They have good ranch dressing and a variety of sides. My favorite dish is the fried chicken and catfish. I tried the elders steak recently and it's my new favorite! I ordered it medium rare (my normal temp) and it wasn't as good as my boyfriends (medium). I think because the steak is thin it needs to be on the grill longer to seer the outside although I prefer MR I will order medium for that reason next time. Very flavorful!

This has got to be one of the filthiest restaurants I have ever eaten in. I asked for decaf coffee and the coffee cup the waitress brought out was stained badly. I told her she didnt have to make a pot of coffee just for me and she replied " oh thats ok, I 'm sure somebody will drink it between now and 9pm". 9PM? Its only 6 oclock now! You'd keep coffee sitting around that long?. Coffee cream is powdered. Soup came out in a coffee cup complete with handle. Looked horrific. Burger was very greasy. Wont be back.....

If you somehow find yourself in Quincy, IL, you must eat here. Actually, if you're within a 60 mile radius, go to Elder's. It's Midwestern river food to a T. Whole fried catfish, fried chicken, hot roast beef sandwich covered in brown gravy, baskets of sliced bread on each table. YUM As a kid, we called this restaurant the "smoky old grandmas' place."
