My all time favorite restaurant. The food is out of this world. You are going to love the Blue Belle. It's mouth watering. My favorite is the Ahi Tuna. I've tried that dish in several mid western restaurants and there is No comparison!

I went here with several people in a party of 6. It was great! Servers were friendly, the owner walked around talking to people, very friendly. My filet was one of the best! All the food was phenomenal! It is quite expensive, but when it's done right, it's fine by me! The chairs were a nice touch, so comfortable. I really enjoyed it. We will be back! Must try the escargot and filet. It's delicious!! I also had a citrus vinegars the on my salad, I'm not sure if it was house made, but it was great too!

Beautiful place and the ambiance is immaculate. Mike the owner was very hands on and pleasant, made me feel like I was apart of the community (here on business) & I am so glad I took a chance coming in and trying this place out. right off the Mississippi River, the views are break taking and worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood. Nick our waiter did not disappoint either, very friendly & attentive...Thanks Nick!

The food is amazing. The ambiance is beautiful and the service perfect. A really nice surprise in Quincy. The ribeye was perfect, the veggie stir fry spectacular and their kids meal with filet awesome. The owner, lovely gentleman stops at your table and checks that everything is alright. I'll be back every time I'm in town.

While visiting Quincy, my husband and I ate at BoodaLu. What an enjoyable evening! It is housed in a redone l870's warehouse, almost on the Mississippi. The views from the dining room are stunning, with the river and bridge framed in the windows. The history just oozes out of the walls-beautiful wood and brick. The bar is an ancient wood and it feels like you are in another era when sitting there drinking a perfectly made martini or other cocktail. I especially liked the wedge salad. How can you make a distinctive wedge salad? With crisp, cold iceberg lettuce, the best blue cheese dressing I've ever had, bacon and lovely little tomatoes! I had the small filet and it was perfect. My husband had coconut shrimp and loved it. The shrimp were large and cooked just the right amount. I think this elegant, yet comfortable restaurant is a great addition to the area. It is a nice stop for anyone driving through the area, and worth the drive if you live nearby.

The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The owners, Cathy and Mike, came to our table several times to visit. We have recommended Boodalu to several friends. Look forward to another meal at Boodalu soon!

My husband and I dined here for our anniversary and we will definitely be back for all our special occasions and celebrations. Our waiter, Nick, was absolutely fantastic and took great care of us the entire night. The onion brick is massive and was a fine start to the fabulous food that followed. I tried the Apple Pork Tenderloin and my husband had their Cajun Blackened Catfish--both were delish. We were too stuffed for dessert, but I've tried their sweet offerings on other visits and they are amazing too. To our surprise, Nick caught up to us as we were leaving and sent us home with chocolate chip cookies tied with a heart ribbon. Outstanding service, relaxed atmosphere, and delectable food on the river that rivals any fine dining establishment in St. Louis or Chicago. Highly recommended!

Quincy Illinois is not the first place I think of when I want a steak. BoodaLu was a great surprise and I hope to visit Quincy again just to dine at this fabulous restaurant. On a Wednesday night this place was packed. The locals are clearly well aware of the amazing food this place dishes out. The entrees run from $30-50 but it seems on the cheaper side for the quality of food that you get. BoodaLu has many beers available but they are all in a bottle. I wish they had a few local draft beers or at least some options on tap. There is a full bar, why no draft beer? This was really the only (minor) complaint I would have about this place. The food was phenomenal. We got an onion brick as an appetizer and it was very flavorful and didn't need any sauce. The house salad, asparagus, and rice were my side dishes and those were all great as well. The home run here was the blue bell steak. Easily one of the top 3 steaks I've ever had. Prepared medium rare this steak melted in my mouth like butter and bursted with flavor from the sauce, onions, and mushrooms that accompanied it. I highly recommend this steak to anyone and I will order it again when I return because I refuse to believe there could be something better on the menu. Service was okay but our server was not very personable. The owner came by to make sure we enjoyed our meal which was a very nice touch. This is MUST STOP if you are in Quincy IL. I can't wait to return.

Food is always fantastic. A little pricey for Quincy but worth every penny. I decided to yelp because this weekend I attended a dinner rehearsal upstairs and they had amazing appetizer and great, friendly service at the bar and attending to different groups around the party. You must try it out once! Guarantee you'll want to go back!

This post is a little late, my husband and I ate at this restaurant on Valentine's Day and we were very impressed! It's a small town restaurant with a big city feel. Beautiful atmosphere, great service and the food was amazing! Steaks cooked to perfection! Nice views of the river from the second floor bar. Kudos to the owner for building something so remarkable!

We were in Quincy on business from Seattle, WA. Since we travel a fair amount, we typically use Yelp as a guide for restaurant choices. Out of several high star restaurant choices in Quincy, we went with BoodaLu. We were greeted by the owner Michael who was very welcoming and warm. The atmosphere was inviting and open. We were impressed how lovely a restored 144 year building could look and with an elevator at that. We ordered the recommended dish. I ordered a filet and my husband ordered the Blue Bell, also steak. Our meals were absolutely wonderful. We both ordered medium rare and they were cooked to perfection. The sides, which can be overlooked and an after thought, were fresh, seasoned well and appropriate portions. The wine options by the glass were limited, but I enjoyed what I was served. The Roth is a very nice wine!! And my husband who is a microbrew aficionado was impressed by the abundant beer choices. The service was good and Michael, the owner checked in several times. We highly recommend BoodaLu and we will be back on our next business trip. Thank you BoodaLu

In spite of our first experience we decided to give BoodaLu another try, and we are glad we did. The ambiance was a compliment to a great dinning experience with a balance of the old warehouse structure and modern fixtures. The menu provided a great selection of items that is sure to resonate with any palate. I ordered a N.Y. strip, prepared medium, and was not disappointed. My wife ordered the pork loin which was equally delicious and worth the deviation from the steak she would normally order. The house made dessert selection was too hard to pass up. Both the lemon cake and the Oreo chocolate cheesecake were fantastic additions to our dinner. As I originally suspected, this is a great restaurant which can provide a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back again.

Great service and great food. When the waiter heard we were on a date night with Grandma and Grandpa watching the girls, they gave 3 cooks with our check to bring home. My wife and I had the filets and they were among the best we have ever had. The exact first impression wasn't the best as they gave us a scowl when we said we didn't have reservations. Everything was 5 stars after that stumble.

I would almost move to Quincy if I could eat at the Boodalu every night. Had the best steak ever watching a blood red sunset behind the Quincy bridge. I know some people might think 30 dollars is expensive for a steak, salad and side, but I would so much rather spend 30 dollars for a perfect steak, grilled exactly how I ordered, than 25 dollars for beef jerky and a la carte extras. Plus, I am greeted at the door and waited on hand and foot. My kind of place.

This place is definitely a must if you're looking for a good quality steakhouse in Quincy. Overall, based on the quality of the meat, the entrees are decently priced and the portions are generous. I ordered the (smaller) ribeye and it comes with a soup, and two sides. I asked for my steak medium rare- was probably cooked a little more than I prefer, but it was still delicious. As for the sides- the snap peas and my baked potato were fine. I got the gumbo instead of the soup and it was also okay- maybe a tad salty but at $30 for the meal, the whole combination was perfect. My boyfriend ordered the Blue Bell- a portabello mushroom placed atop a steak (not sure what kind) with blue cheese as the filler. It was very tasty- and very very rich. Think a massive clump of blue cheese with each steak bite. He got the peas, baked potato as well but opted for the seafood chowder instead. Nothing amazing about the sides, but again, at less than $40 a meal, it really is a steal. Overall, check this place out if you're planning a steak night. *My 4 star review is based on the available alternatives within Quincy, IL

As far as steak goes, this is the best there is in Quincy. The restaurant is in an old building & they have added a lounge/bar upstairs that can rented for private functions. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I look forward to hearing about any specials they may have every time I eat there.

When you are going to hold yourself out as the premier restaurant in a city, you havto do more than have an expensive menu and serve very good entrees. The wait staff was overpressed and service was terrible. The signature soup was out, 2 hours after the restaurant opened, and the soup dujour was a terrible substitute. If you serve baked potatoes, they should be hot enough to melt butter. The noise level is oppressive. On the plus side the ambiance is great. My fish was excellent. Overall was it a 30.00 meal? Not so much.

Wanted to tell you ate at Boodalu last night. Had the best surf and turf of my life. Great service, great wine. Very happy to have you in Quincy. Make sue you order the seafood salad dressing and extra butter on the steak. Surf and turf priced at $45.00. Excellent size

We have been to Boodalu 4 times and every time has been perfect. The owners, Michael and his wife greet you at the door. The building is this amazing old warehouse with exposed beams and ductwork. Looking out over the Mississippi River. The wait staff is great. Knowledgable and polite. Steaks are the best anywhere. I have had the small filet cooked perfectly and the veal oscar. All meals come with salad, vegetable and potatoes. A lot of food for the price. Certainly the best Quincy has to offer.

Nice restaurant, great ambience with a river view if you prefer. Excellent service, nice wine selection, steaks were excellent, sides were great. I had the ten ounce blue Bell filet which was delicious. I took off one star because the desserts here are terrible and not at par with the rest of the offering. I ordered the strawberry shortcake and sent it back because the cake was extremely dry, then they brought out the cheesecake which again tasted like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for days and then they brought out a carrot cake cheesecake which was ok. I am not a very picky eater but this was crazy to me. I would absolutely recommend this place for everything else.
