Well, first I should say that Pontiac is the cutest little town and the current mayor is sooo nice! The owner of Lydia's Cup is also an extremely nice man and he was very welcoming to boot. (5 stars!) I wish I could say the same for the waitress we has. She was a bit surly and aggressive even though we had come at an off-peak hour. That's no big deal though. What was bothersome is that I ordered a vanilla iced coffee (I expected this to be black since I didn't ask for milk), but received a coffee with whipped cream and whole milk. :-( I asked the waitress about this, and was just met with a bit of hostility and curt answers. Apparently, that's how they make the iced coffees (mind you, iced lattes are also on the menu), they feel that is quite obvious, and to get a simple black coffee I'd have to buy a new one, since it was my misunderstanding. It wasn't really worth it, so I just left an pretty full coffee unconsumed. Booo. So if you order an iced coffee just be careful! But then you'll be fine!

Pontiac wasn't as exciting as the name portrays! So we weren't sure about the Yelp reviews written by locals. I took a chance on Lydia's because they had outdoor seating. Not a big place, but when I saw the sign for $1.00 slices of pie. I was in! The Lydia's special was pulled pork with slaw on top of a Kaiser roll. Not a lot of bbq sauce, but it was juicy and flavorful. The thick homemade chips were crunchy without being greasy. My lemonade was sweet and almost tasted homemade. Not sure though. The pie's were a slash and burn price because they were closing for a week and needed to git'um out the door. The pecan was right on the money and was a generous slice. Now about the service. Our food was brought out and we were asked if we needed anything else? How about napkins! And we didn't get silverwear until we got the pies. Another customer got up to get his own pies because they were taking so long. I went with him to pay my tab as I figured it would be easier on our server. The place was full and some people even walked away. So this must have been a mad rush in a town were the most exciting this to do on a Saturday is watch your nail polish flake off!

Draw in by the yelp reviews and the sign for $1 pie. Sat outside and enjoyed the nice day. Ordered up a burger and chips. Both were very good and hit the spot. Then I had some coconut cream pie it was good I liked but should have gone for the pecan. The place is not to big but had plenty of seating inside which was full. Cool place to stop by and get some decent grub.

Average at best. The owners need to visit summer cafes in other "tourist" towns. Carmel, IN Lake Geneva, WI Galena, IL etc... At LEAST put a quiche on the menu!!!!! No different than any of the other restaurants in town that serve breakfast food. And the menu is very limited. Don't make a special trip because I promise you'll be disappointed. And as the previous review stated, there is one waitress who has been there for a long time, that is always unpleasant. She acts as though she is being inconvenienced by doing her job. Very unfriendly.

I love this place! The hash browns are amazing, the coffee and hot chocolate are great and their lunch is worth the trip if you aren't from the area. Great location, cute interior and very nice workers. I recommend the blueberry muffins when available, and the ice cream is super rich... perfect on a hot day.
