Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I did take out on a Saturday evening at 6 PM. It's hard to do a review on takeout but I will attempt to do my best. My food was ready when they said it would be ready for pick up. In fact, they were pulling it out of the oven when I arrived. I ordered a small Chicago style sausage and mushroom. The sausage was a patty style sausage with the sauce and mushrooms on top. The pizza was very good. Chicago style crust can be difficult to get just right. This was very good. Since this was a patty style of sausage, there was sausage in every bite. The mushrooms were just the opposite. I used the yelp coupon and received an order of garlic bread. There were four slices and it was excellent as well. They had a separate door for take out which I really appreciated. This is not a huge building. In fact, the restaurant is located in a strip mall. The parking lot was not very big. Service of the pick up counter was prompt. I will say that the small pizza could easily feed two people. I would come here again.

Great Pizza!!! This place reminds me of My Pi in Chicago. The dough is perfectly cooked with a bed of cheese & sauce ontop. Then the place all the ingredients ontop of that. It adds flavor, in my opinion & is a break from the norm. Highly recommended...

Went here for my husband's birthday expecting some amazing pizza. I was disappointed to find it average at best. The service was good and attentive, but the quality of the food was not impressive. I love a good pizza, but I would almost choose Pizza Hut over this place. We had the thin crust and it just didn't have the texture I look for- crisp, yet slightly chewy. It wasn't a horrible place, but with all the rave reviews I felt pretty let down.

If I could give this place no stars I would. Do not bother with this one. I went in with a coupon from the Entertainment book and they refused to use it! The rude manager came by my table and told me that she could not honor it. I asked if this was their restaurant on the coupon and she said yes....why not honor? The pizza too was very over-rated. If you want great pizza, go to Traverso's in Napervile. You will even get great service there with no attitude!!!!!

This was a great little local pizzeria. The atmosphere was quiet with Christmas tunes in the background to go along with the decorations. I started with their hot wings appetizer, very spicy, but their coating was crisp and crunchy with a tender inside. The house salad had very fresh crisp lettuce and a tasty vinaigrette served on the side. The entree was a small deep dish pizza that could of easily served two. I ordered pepperoni and sausage that was excellent but way too much for one. I would definitely return here when I'm back in Joliet.

Been living in Plainfield for 2 years now and just found this pizza place. Ordered the deep dish pizza.. wow this is good stuff. New favorite pizza joint in Plainfield for me..
(5)Moon D.
I'm going 4 stars after just one thing crust pizza carry out. I'm betting I'll change this to 5 stars after trying the deep dish and pasta dishes. Pizza was excellent, great sauce and crust. You can really tell the difference when a pizzeria makes the dough and sauce from scratch, not from supply houses in cans. A great place and my new go to pizzeria. And a real pizzeria with dining as well as carry out and delivery. Try this place. You seriously will not be disappointed.

Mind and my husband's new favorite pizza place! Yum. And the absolute BEST fried ravioli. It tastes handmade, and always piping hot! Our only complaint is that we wish the thin crust was crispier. Yummo!
(4)Steve J.
Their Deep dish pizza is amazing. Have got the deep dish sausage twice and both it was great! Much better than the large Chicago Pizza Chains' deep dishes. Will be back... quite often.
(5)Manuel R.
Ordered pizza take-out. 1 small mushroom deep dish and 1 large pepperoni thin crust. Restaurant has a convenient, separate pick up order entrance. Pizza texture was good on both pizzas. Pizza sauce was excellent. Our only complaint was that the large thin crust pepperoni was VERY salty.
(3)Kevin B.
Wow. The food here is amazing. A friend gave us a coupon so we went to use it. I never knew this place existed, but we will be back! The pasta was fresh made and very good sized portions.

This place is fantastic! We found them because they were listed on Chicago's top 10 pizza places. We had their thin crust with sausage and mushroom. Altho the pizza could have used more sausage, the sauce crust and cheese were perfection!! Absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was adorable and the restaurant is super clean. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back! Looking forward to my leftovers for dinner!!

Ordered carry out from Luigi's many times. The last time we ordered a carry out pizza it was so salty we could not eat it. I didn't call and complain. Maybe I should have just to see if they would bring me another that was not salty.
(1)Tim M.
Amazing food, but the signature Mama Mia wings seemed to be microwaved, as they were not crunchy one bit. Also, no offer of boneless wings - purely traditional choices. The breaded mushrooms were fantastic as always. The Italian beef was a little dry and did not offer much flavor at all. I ate here twice in one week during a business trip. I have no review of the pizza or pastas!
(4)Monica B.
My husband and I both got sick from the sausage deep dish pizza the last time we went here so I doubt that we will be back.
(1)Sunita S.
Chicago's Best got it right! The Pizza is out of this world! The decor takes me back to old world ! The staff is good even though they have one person serving so many people
(5)Mandi K.
Ordered carryout because we had a Groupon... yuck! We found a moth in our salad, so we immediately stopped eating it. Ordered the thin crust and Digornio frozen pizza is better! Crust was soggy and the sauce was really sweet. Glad we didn't have to pay full price because of the Groupon. Now we know...
(1)Alison V.
Had the garlic bread with cheese as an appetizer (nothing special) and thin crust cheese pizza. The sauce was a strange shade of orange and a bit bland. The place was clean, but I didn't like the set-up in the restroom. I like to be able to use my paper towel from drying my hands to open the (dirty) door and then I throw away the towel. The garbage was too far away from the door to conveniently do that. Overall, just an average pizza place.

Service: Sunday at 5:30, there was a wait. Come on, it was listed as Chicago's Best, so due to the publicity you will just have to deal with this. Seems they haven't gotten into the groove of being this busy - several patrons waiting asked "how long is the wait?" and the waitress had some trouble gauging how long it would take. Once we were seated, our waitress was polite and attentive. Another waitress who refilled out drinks gave my husband a dirty look when he asked for an "arnold palmer" to drink. She didn't know what it was and seemed irritated that she had to figure out this concoction. Food: I recommend the fried ravioli, best I've had. The deep dish pizza is good, but I expected more cheese being deep dish and all. Price is worth it. Other: It's quiet, it's relaxing, the decorations are modern and clean. Someone said something about an "odor" which I only noticed when we first walked in, seemed to come from an A/C vent. But it wasn't repulsive. Good spot for pizza in Plainfield. Worth the drive from immediate surrounding area (Plainfield, Shorewood, Joliet, Romeoville and south Naperville) but I wouldn't trek out from the city or anywhere more than 20 mins away. It's on-par with Lou Malnati's, with more of an intimate feel.

God there are a lot of complainers about groupons & pricing.! If its too much go down Rt 30 & go to Pizza Hut!! Luigis got its press from Chicagos Best on CH-9. It does have good pizza & pasta there is no arguing that. They are also very pricey. Having said that I feel they could improve there menu a bit in regards to specialty pizza selections. They are a bit full of themselves and could also improve on their customer service & turn down the snobbery. I feel for the money go to Armand's on Rt 59 which is 5 min drive (W) of here. Good God whats come over me?? 2 reviews in one day?? Thats hasnt happened in 2 yrs!!!!
(3)Michael L.
Went here with a Groupon! Very good meal. I had the tortellini Alfredo.. i would definately eat here again! We got there at the right time... we were able to get a table... but as we left there were quite a few people waiting for tables! This was first visit here, so not sure when they get busy.
(4)Rosann F.
Awesome as always! It's pretty cool that the young lady in carry out remembers my name. Always great customer service and the pizza is fabulous. Very consistent product!
(5)Rhonda P.
They have the best pizza around! It's definitely worth a drive to get here. Both the deep dish and the extra thin pizzas are a hit with everyone we bring in. The egg plant parm is good too. I didn't think the lasagna was as good. It seemed like it was nuked instead of baked. If you want great pizza this is your place!
(5)Chris B.
Really wonderful staff. Comfortable inside. Deep dish pizza (supposed to be their speciality) just ok.
(3)Ramone B.
The pizza is F-a-b-u-l-o-u-s! The boy was craving pizza tonight, and he remembered that we said we were going to check this place out. We ordered take out, a large pizza with sausage, mushrooms, onions, & green pepper all on thin crust. Let me just say that when we got home we commenced to chowing down on that pizza! It was great! The Ingriedients were very fresh. I will definitely be back because Luigi's also boasts a full italian menu, and we all know I am crazy about my pasta!! Til next yelp xoxoxoxoxox
(5)Joy B.
Pasta is delicious. Service is great.
(5)Johnny T.
Ordered a deep dish to go. It seemed more like pizza bread than anything there was practically no cheese, a thin amount of sauce on top, and all dough, which had a nice crispy texture to it. Not a fan of their pricing structure by only offering a small or large size and a $7 difference between the sizes, which seems as if they want you to spend more, which made the smaller size the better deal. The service was pretty good as everyone I encountered were very nice.
(3)Stephane C.
My family and I have visited a couple of times. The pizza is okay, but perhaps that's because I am a pizza snob and have very high expectations. The main thing that I didn't appreciate is that, either they consider frozen spinach to be fresh spinach, or the server just took a stab at answering the question. I asked if the spinach was fresh (because it makes a HUGE difference) and was told yes. She really should have responded with, "our spinach is fresh frozen." At least, then, I'd appreciate her honesty and have made a different choice. Amazing how such a small detail can make a huge difference, eh?
(3)Brad C.
Great wings, great service, hawks game. I like to stop here after going to Megasports gun range down the street. The service is friendly, the food is enjoyable and since the dining room is normally slow we pick what is on TV (read PUT THE HAWKS GAME ON!). We normally do appetizers & beers (again AFTER Megasports) here so I can't talk to the other stuff.
(4)Jazmin S.
combo appetizer was super good! Pizza was a little salty but very good also. We were the only ones dining in at the restaurant on sunday afternoon, felt a little weird.
(3)Kay B.
First off I have to say that I'm starting to distrust Chicago's Best...because I would say many of the places they feature on their show might be good or okay, but not the best, and unfortunately Luigi's is one of them. The fact that this television show based out of Chicago, the home of famous deep dish like Uno's or Giordano's, would deem Luigi's as having some of the best deep dish is absurd! I agree with another reviewer that it's not deep dish but more like pizza bread. Luigi's "deep dish" has way too thick crust, not enough cheese, and very little sauce and toppings. Let's put it this way...real Chicago deep dish MUST be eaten with a knife and fork! That's the only way to cut through all the cheese and toppings and get it into your mouth. We were able to eat Luigi's "deep dish" like a regular slice of pizza...picking up a slice and taking a bite. You could never do that with authentic Chicago deep dish. With that being said, it still tasted good, we just felt a little mislead. We've had other items here...their thin crust pizza is pretty good and the few pastas we have tried are good as well. The staff is very friendly and I'm sure we will continue to come here for everything besides the "deep dish."

WOW great staff, very attentive and friendly. We had every pizza, great fresh ingredients the crust is great seems to melt in your mouth. The garlic bread and fries awesome. We will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this place YUM....
(5)Steve K.
wow ! we got lost the other nite and ate here, the pizza is really, and i mean really good !!!! not to salty , not greasy , i will be back again, staff was good too !!!!! thanks for the pizza, A ++++++ all the way.....steve k....
(5)Lisa B.
This place is great. We ordered two larger pizzas and the prices were reasonable for a non-chain style pizzeria (you know like Pizza Hut.) I'll definitely be going there again in the future! Nothing like the taste of fresh made pizza :]
(5)Jackie S.
While we were on our way to a different restaurant, we noticed a large, inflatable pizza chef outside a Plaza advertising Luigi's, We decided to change our plans and give Luigi's a try, and we were glad we did!!! Their interior is clean, cozy, and comfortable. They have a large menu, and their prices are reasonable. The service was prompt and our server was polite and friendly. I have several food allergies, and it's been my experience at other restaurants that many food servers don't know about the ingredients or won't take the time to find out IF they don't know. But, that was not the case at Luigi's. Our server answered our questions and even double checked with the Chef about the ingredients. We ordered the thin crust pizza, and it was delicious. We're planning to go there again this weekend with some family members.
(4)Sandy W.
Awesome pizza, great sauce. Friendly staff. Worth the drive as the don't deliver where I live.
(5)John P.
Both the thick crust and thin crust pizza are awesome. The sauce is smooth and a little spicy..... Perfect. The garlic bread and fried ravioli are also very good. We go here often.
(5)Mike D.
I made it to Luigi's last night I was really hoping this place would knock my socks off but it didn't happen, unfortunately. After reading positive reviews online and seeing it on Chicago's best my hopes were high. My brother and I ordered a large thin crust with sausage pepperoni and hamburger. When the pizza made it to the table my brother commented that it looked a lot like Aurelio's. After eating it we both agreed it looked and tasted like Aurelio's. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it's just not what I expected. I would give Luigi's 3 1/2 stars. If I was in Plainfield I'd go back but I wouldn't travel the 30 mins that I did for this trip.
(3)Erik H.
A fun local place, very no frills and down to earth. Our group ordered four pizzas and they all came out exceptionally well with the best being the bacon & pineapple and the bacon & ranch. The owner came out and chatted with us as well, laughing that pizza was an art and every topping had to be carefully placed. You can definitely taste it in the pizza.
(4)P C.
My family and I decided to try Luigi's after seeing it featured on Chicago's Best TV show. We got a carry-out pizza, and I just wasn't thrilled. It was ok, nothing special. We had the thin crust; maybe we'll try their deep dish next time.
(2)Christine P.
We live in the area and try to patronize local businesses. We have been here several times since they opened and sadly, after our experience there on New Year's Eve, we will never be going back. From the time we entered the door until the time we left was exactly TWO HOURS-no one greeted us at the door for at least 5 minutes and then it was the ONLY waitress working that night. People who came in after us stood there so long that they just seated themselves because they got tired of waiting. Then, it took our waitress another 10 minutes to get the menus to us, another 10 minutes to get us drinks (the straws took another 10 minutes) and then almost 1/2 hour before she came to take our order-that was after the owner stopped by to pick up our menus (first time we saw her) and we informed her we hadn't even ordered yet. The food is good, but not worth that long of a wait. It definitely is not someplace to take hungry children, which is why we stopped going there with our grandchildren. If this was the first time we had this problem, I would give them another chance, but this goes on every time we go there.
(2)Mary C.
Smaller place with a great family owned feel. The seating set up was a little odd felt very open, probably because we were right by the door! But the food more than made up for it. The pasta was wonderful and the pizza was great! Garlic cheese bread was my favorite which usually isn't. We definty recommend giving this place a try!! We'll be going back soon!
(5)Allison D.
Delicious pasta, pizza and sandwiches! Nice family owned Italian restaurant. My husband and I have been to Luigi's 5 times and have never been disappointed. The service is good and the food is so flavorful and fresh. I definitely recommend luigi's! Yum!
(5)Mark C.
Very good Pizza, try the fried Ravoli...yum. Friendly service. good prices.
(4)Jeremy M.
We stopped here for a casual dinner and because we'd driven by the place so many times and never tried it. The atmosphere was very casual (red and white vinyl checkered table clothes, TVs playing COPS on the walls) and family friendly, not fancy at all. The pricing was pretty moderate to cheap, and I think that's a big reason why I barely gave it 4 stars over 3. I don't think they are trying to be a fancy Italian place, they are trying to be a family, casual Italian place, so they pretty much succeed. We decided to get a small pizza and some chicken parm to split, so we could both try both items. The pizza was good, as was the pasta and chicken. Nothing to go crazy over, but very solid, and again, very reasonably priced. The servers were friendly and did a nice job. If you want a casual dinner, or a place you won't be afraid to take your kids or softball team, this is probably a good choice.
(4)Jennifer B.
We saw this place on Chicago's Best and left right after to give it a try. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! The pizza, in fairness was really good. Got the sausage and pepperoni they made on the show. Sauce and crust tasty. The service, however, was AWFUL!! Chicago's Best gave them publicity they clearly are not equipped to handle. There are only a handful of tables which would make you think the staff would hustle to turn over tables. Not this staff. They were not friendly and disappeared unless you sought them out. In the 60 minutes we sat waiting for our pizza, the waitress checked on us ONCE. We finally got our pizza after we saw others who were seated well after us getting thier pizzas and we asked the waitress to check on ours. The service was not much better for the other guests. We watched others sit through very long waits and be ignored the whole time, too. When we finally got our pizza, we were told it was because we ordered a large but we saw many other large pan pizzas be delivered to tables who ordered after us. There was no attempt to appease us when we were clearly annoyed. If this place is going to keep you waiting for well over an hour then they should at least throw you some bread or saltines and not blame the poor service on your order of their signature dish. Sadly, the terrible service left us in such a bad mood that even the good pizza couldn't make up for it. I ALWAYS over tip and for the first time EVER I short tipped. It was that bad. We will not go back to Luigi's. If you live nearby, try to carry out. Eating in is not worth it!!!
