Looking for an early breakfast option that wasn't a chain, we decided to go to the 50s Diner. On the breakfast menu they offer breakfast combos, omelets, skillets, pancakes, waffles and a la carte items. I ordered the #1 with my two eggs over medium, three slices of bacon as my meat, rye toast and added a side of grits. One of my eggs ended up being over hard rather than over medium, but the bacon, while not thick cut had good flavor and the grits were thick and had BIG corn flavor. I also tried a bite of a sausage link and it was tasty too. Service was good, water and coffee refills were plentiful but not overwhelming and the combo prices started at $4.99. A side of grits added $2.39. We arrived around 8:15 on a Sunday, and by the time we were leaving an hour later, there was a wait for tables.

Food quality was average. I had the walleye which had a nice light and somewhat flaky batter but the walleye itself was very average. My fiance had the chicken strips. They definitely give you your money's worth with a huge portion of large strips. Fries are good. Honey mustard was relatively tasteless. I'll be back but not frequently. Atmosphere is fun and kid friendly.

Formerly going under the business name "MaidRite," most of the menu is the same as it was before the name change. What was previously known as a MaidRite sandwich is now called the "Loosey" loose meat sandwich. Great diner atmosphere, oldies playing all the time, great diner food, and delightfully sassy and playful attitude from the waitresses. Breakfast served all the time, of course. I recommend any milkshake, but my favorites are the Dr. Pepper and the Green River.

It had been quite a while since we stopped in at the 50's Diner so we stopped for lunch one day while we were waiting to go to our Grandson's Football game. It was very good. I love their "Maid Rite" type sandwiches. Good food at a reasonable price. Our waitress stopped several times to see if we needed anything else.

Unless the staff knows your name and your a regular don't bother going there. The 2 of us walked in, sat down and waited 8 minutes for menus. Another 10 minutes for drinks. The drinks came and we had a very long wait before anyone returned to out table to take our order. There had been 3 waitresses to our table by now, each one acting as if we were a burdon. Our food took very long, our drinks sat empty the entire time. My plate had grease dripped all over it. the food was cold and not close to tasting good. My husband's bacon was raw. We couldn't get anyone to fix our food or even acknowledge us. We watched as every other employee greeted guests by first name, join them at the tables and chit chat and walk past us over and over again. We were given the check when our food was deoivered. We still have no clue who our waitress is. As we left we complained to the manager. We were told that 90% of their business are regulars. We paid full price for absolutely no service, cold, low quality food we couldn't eat and were invited back. We are in town a few times a month. When we find good places to eat we become regulars. 50s Diner doesn't want anyone that isn't already a regular. They make that very clear through the way they choose to treat us, ignore us and charged us full price after thus disgusting experience. I posted a review on their Faceboon page. It was deleted.

I went here tonight hoping to have the luscious, delicious fried chicken. Well, first the blonde Barbie threw the menu on the table and told me Mary would be right with me. 15 to 20 minutes later, no Mary -- so a very pleasant, personable, and outstanding waitress took my order and apologized for the wait. After my food is delivered, Mary shows up. I told her she could take the chicken breast back to the cook -- it was fried so hard there was no juicy, delicious chicken on it to eat. I had it laying on a napkin thinking she would take it. I said I am not going to eat this with it fried this hard so you can just take it. She snapped that she could not walk through the restaurant holding a piece of chicken in her hand. So she comes back with a plate. Ok, so be a bit more rude about it so the customers at surrounding tables can hear you. Pretty professional don't you think! I boycotted this restaurant about four months ago for the same reason on the chicken, but tonight was much worse. And besides Corey, I get to enjoy the very unpleasant attitude of the waitresses -- blonde Barbie and in particular Mary. So, if you are looking for some enjoyable atmosphere and some good fried chicken, go to TNT's. That is where I will be going from now on. I thought I would give 50's Diner another chance. If I come in again, I do hope for the sake of the owners the waitresses will realize all customers are important, not just the ones they know by name -- and I tip better than what I saw left on some of the tables. Oh, and not that it was important, but no suggestion or offer from Mary to do anything about the bill. She did offer to get another piece of chicken cooked for me, but the three pieces I kept were fried so hard, the meat under the skin was like leather, so no thank you, no other pieces for me. My tip went to Corey who actually acts like she knows the customers are important to the restaurant. Koo-does Corey!!!!!

Amazing! Loved it every time I and the family have gone. It is a breath of fresh air to have someone wait on you and then receive food that is the way my mother cooked.

Yes, I am a fan ... the Rte 66 is the bomb ... 2 eggs how I want them ... 2 bacon ... 2 link sausage ... 2 pancakes ... coffee flowing till I pop ... Every once in a while it gets so busy that our server lets our coffee get warm or below half full ... sometimes they're so on top of it that I hardly get a sip before they're trying to top it off. It's good for solo trips or with groups ... enjoy

AMAZING DINER AND ATMOSPHERE! I took a weekend trip to Peoria from st Louis to Christmas shop and take in a hockey game. I looked up the diner on line and decided to stop by Saturday for lunch. I had the homemade tenderloin and biscuits on the side! It was absolutely to die for! Service was amazing, both the owners came out and spent about 20 minutes talking to me about hockey and St. Louis! They know all the regulars by name. If you are in or will be close to Peoria STOP BY!

I was in Peoria for a week and we ate here twice! Cinnamon roll french toast and taco omelettes were AMAZING. I loved the way they cooked their sausage. Only thing was service was pretty slow, but I think that was mostly the cook's doing. But reeeeeally good food!
