Their tikka masala was divine. The naan was perfect. I didn't love the samosas, but everything else we had was fabulous. I am always nervous about these kind of strip mall restaurants, but this one definitely exceeded expectations. I am an Indian food connoisseur and I am very hard to please. I recommend this restaurant without reservation.

The Lhassis were really good here as were the apps. The entrees didn't blow me away and we shared about 5 different ones family style. The best one was the spiced lamb. It may have been the night, but there were only two other customers the entire time we were there. Also, don't be shocked when you realize the restaurant is in the corner of the strip mall.

Lunch buffet, thought it was really good w/ various selections. Maybe a touch pricey fit a buffet but enjoyed the meal.

Let me preface this review with the fact I made the mistake of coming here on Valentine's Day. I didn't realize that it was a buffet night. I was happy with the amount of selections. I was able to find many new dishes I had yet tried elsewhere. I am a firm believer that quantity effects the quality. With that in mind I was not disappointed. I do want to try the menu on another day. The atmosphere was a strange mix of cafeteria with A live DJ. There was a very eclectic mix of music. It was a surreal experience to eat tikka masala and listen to Sir Mix-Alot. I will definitely give it another shot to try eating off the menu.

Food quality and customer service is constantly dropping. You would be served cold Indian breads if you would go for their buffet and don't think about complaining because they won't take it in positive manner and you may yourself feel frustrated. Few south Indian dishes are really tasty like dosa, idlis but Nirth Indian dishes are not upto the mark.
(2)Jason P.
The best Indian food in town, which isn't saying much. The food and portions are really good, the staff is a little creepy. They have people kind of foaming up and down the aisles to refill water and bus plates. While always having water is good when I eat spicy food, I feel like we are in some sort of prison system! It's OK but kind of weird.
(4)Subramaniyam C.
The lunch buffet contains around 25-30 items. Many of their items are good. But, the lunch buffet is costly. They can reduce the number of items and reduce the price as well. Initially, we had been there in 2013 and the quality was good. It's getting worse nowadays.. Food is not at all hot and fresh. Over priced..
(2)Jack P.
Delicious Indian food. The Sunday lunch buffet had a lot of variety, with many dishes that I have not seen in other Indian buffets before. They were very flavorful and each was very different from the others. They even had a whole table of chutneys, and they served naan and masala dosa in addition to the buffet. There were about five or six different desserts as wall and most were very tasty.

best indian lunch buffet i have experienced. I have been to indian restaurants in chicago, new york, peoria, paris, los angeles.
(5)Senthil S.
Tried this place twice and I would recommend this more for non vegetarian. Good service, quiet place and not over crowded. Have tried rack of lamb and it was great. They offer three versions of it and you can choose per your preference.
(5)Sara J.
Great food and great service! We had dinner with friends and were greeted with warm smiles and genuine welcoming attitude. They will make it as hot or mild as you would like. Lamb Josh Rogan was great!
(5)Alan T.
Food is pricey and the attitude of the owner is out of this world. He is ready to pick up a fight and shows no respect for customers. Once we did not our ordered for 40 mins and we complained to the owner saying "we're leaving". "please leave" is what he said!!!! Once we did a take out of the veggie items - it was atrociously bad. And once I had chicken chettinad, which was good!

One of the worst experience I had so far!! First time I went to this restaurant, they served me with a curry which had a long hair in it. After I complained about it, the waiter went inside with the plate and replaced that with a coconut fiber. Not only this, they charged me for an additional naan that I did not buy. I would recommend not to go to this restaurant. Try some other place. I understand there are only three Indian restaurants and may be thats why these folks really dont care about their customers. But I would strongly recommend not to go to this place, else try Haldi or Masala. One of my friends went for a carry out and they simply refused to give a carry out while the restaurant was open. The reason they gave was; they close the carry outs by 2:30 while the sign outside said they are open till 3:00. I dont know how to report these guys, but if someone knows, please share and I would like to report these people to the correct authorities.

The food here is extremely fragrant and flavorful. In fact, the smell of the Tandoori Chicken at the buffet bar was infused deeply in my hair and clothing well after I left. If you don't mind smelling like the food you just ate, eat here. I recommend going during weekday lunch hours for their standard Indian Buffet Lunch Special. For $11, you have access to the buffet bar stocked with aromatic curries, long grain rice, fried goodies, fresh vegetables, and a few exotic Indian Desserts. In addition endless baskets of Naan Bread awaits your enjoyment at your table. While this place does have vegetarian options, it caters more to carnivores' dining habits. If you have a sensitive stomach, you may not want to make this place the first meal of the day. Don't make the same mistake as I did. I had a hard time getting rid of the food from my system. My burps for the day came only in the flavor of Chicken Masala.
(3)Brian J.
I ordered the phaal with lamb as my entree. Had some appetizers that were run of the mill. I've had experiences at Indian restaurants where I would request a dish to be spicy and have been disappointed at what I received. This was not the case at Rasoi. The phaal was every bit as spicy as it should be. I was impressed.
(4)Todd R.
Food is not bad, but not great. Many Indian restaurants in Canada, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and yes, USA, serve far superior food. But in the small Peoria market where you can't count the number of Indian restaurants with one hand, there's not a lot to choose from or compare with. The atmosphere is dark, dull and dreary. During Sunday buffet, staff tell you to reuse your utensils. Service is good from friendly attentive staff.
(3)Andrew R.
This place is awesome. I went here with my Indian friend to help me navigate the menu. I was impressed with the food. It's REALLY GOOD. Traditional Indian food. Lots of flavor. Good quality.
(5)Ray O.
Please DO not go here , i work at Olive Garden so I will tell u that this is the worst Indian restaurant ever ..from the service till the food . Looks like servers don't wanna be there. Lack of communication and waiting on their guest is what they need to learn
(1)Carl B.
After the demise of Sizzling India and Pasand, I've been on the look-out for a place to get decent Indian when I come back to Peoria. I'd been to Rasoi a long time ago and found it awful, but was told that a change of hands or some other intervention had much improved it. Was very pleased with the service and the atmosphere was calm, clean, and pleasant. The food was notably not greasy. My palak paneer, though not the most flavorful I'd ever had, was more than passable. My fellow diner enjoyed his lamb saag. The menu seems to innovate a little (in comparison with the generic offerings at Peoria-area Indian joints past and present) but unfortunately doesn't offer a thali option, so if you go with just one other person, you won't be able to get a good mix of different dishes without paying a lot for several mains. All in all, I was pleased with the experience and look forward to returning next time I'm craving Indian in P-town.
(4)Jen B.
Wow, either I finally ordered the right dishes this time or this place has gotten much better! Some friends and I were really craving Indian so we decided to go all out on some take out to watch Boardwalk Empire. It took a little longer than they said, 20 minutes and it was more like 35 but I was really hoping that meant they were cooking things fresh and I was right! The veggies were nice and firm and my rice tender and flavorful. Here were our choices: Tamarind Eggplant Starter: A+, thin crispy friend slices of eggplant with a seasoned chickpea and onion medley. There were also 3 containers of chutneys/sauces in the bag that might have been meant to go with this. A coriander (cilantro) one that was amazing, a reddish one that looked like pieces of mango and was really good, a pinkish finely chopped crunchy paste that was very sweet and no one could identify. Lamb Madras(medium): B, was the spiciest of the bunch. It was a brownish creamy sauce with nice sized chuncks of lamb and potatoes & carrots. There was a reddish oil drizzled on the top that was probably adding the extra heat. MIght order this again as mild. Chicken Tikka Masala (mild): A++, site says all time favorite and they are correct! Very delicious and rich creamy tomato sauce with lots of large chunks of tandoori chicken. You can see where they were cooked on skewers in the tandoori oven. Very tender for white meat too. Kundapur Vegetables (medium): A, good selection of veggies (cauliflower, peas, carrots, zucchini, squash, potatoes, tomatoes in a yellowish curry based sauce. Was not very spicy at all but had a nice rich flavor and the veggies were all so fresh tasting and not the least mushy! Raita: the biggest container of yogurt sauce I've ever gotten as a side from an Indian restaurant for only $3. The description says it contains tomato, onion, cucumber and carrot but I'm fairly sure it was only cucumber and carrot in there. Which was fine and it went perfectly with the spice of the lamb curry. Total for all these along with 2 large containers of basmati was $54. Under $20 each for 3 people AND I had leftovers! They had a sign on the door about an Express version of this place opening on Main Street, for take-out only I would imagine. After this delicious meal, that is going to be a problem for me as I'm a downtown working girl! Can't wait to order from here again!

Surprisingly Decent Indian food . I like their vegetarian and indo Chinese dishes. Their weekend buffet has a lot of variety
(4)Enoch S.
I went there for lunch. The food was awful, super greasy and worst Indian food. Even tandoori chicken was greasy. I felt like they deep fired tandoori instead of cooking in a clay over. The naan was undercooked- I may overlook this for the crowd sake. Chilli chicken was drunk in oil. Channa masala... How the heck did the chef mess this? One of the basic Indian dish. And the price was ridiculous- $14.00 for one buffet. There were some good things as well- ambience was descent compared to other Indian restaurant in the area. One of the few Indian restaurant I walked in and walked out not smell like curry :-).the rice puddin was good... Cooked with real condensed milk. I hope they continue to keep that quality. I am not sure if I will go back... May be if I feel adventurous someday and wanna drink greasy....
(1)Regev N.
I'm not sure where all of the negativity is coming from, as I've been three times (twice for dinner, once for lunch). At no point was anything I ate here bland or greasy. The food was admittedly better during dinner, and only one dish was too spicy for my taste, but the tandoori chicken was moist and delicious, and the chicken tikka masala was fantastically flavoured. The service isn't a high point, but it isn't as low a point as people stated here. We never waited terribly long (especially during dinner) but sometimes communication seemed to be a bit of a stumbling block. All in all, a great meal here.
(4)Erin P.
Best Indian food in Peoria. We're from the Chicagoland area & Rasoi is definitely comparable to Chicago's best! The food is tastes very fresh, service is great, restaurant is clean... no complaints! Highly recommend it.
(5)Sundareswar J.
We went for a Dinner and we really liked the place, the service was very good and some dishes were good and others were ok. We initially thought the cost was a bit high for the Dosa but when we saw the size of the Dosa it was not really costly. Overall we had a good experience and would definitely recommend.

LOVE this place! If you haven't been here since May 2012, you need to try it again. New management, new chef since then. MUCH better than the original. My husband & I are big fans of the weekend lunch buffet. There is a HUGE chaat bar then, in addition to the wonderful appetizers, entrees and desserts. The offerings are different each time, but our favorites include the saag with paneer (or better yet, with mushrooms), chicken tikka masala, vegetable noodles, and anything made with eggplant! Everything is always very fresh and well-spiced. Friendly staff, too. My favorite restaurant in Peoria!
(5)Mark L.
We went for dinner and the food was excellent. We had 5 different dishes and 2 desserts and each was very flavorful. Our group really enjoyed the atmosphere, the dinning area is quite large and very quiet. The decor was nice and the chairs were large and comfortable. I don't understand one of the other reviewers comment about plastic table coverings. The tables had cloth table clothes with a soft vinyl cover on the surface of the table it looked very nice, after that review I was expecting a cheap party table coverings but they were fine... plus I was there for the food. I will definitely go again.
(5)Mirnzy A.
Went there for the buffet. It was pretty awful, folks. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. Some dishes were unrecognizable. Everything was drenched in grease and either overly spicy or way too bland. The rice looked old and was hard and dry. The papadums were dripping with oil. The naan was under baked & gummy. The aloo chole was the worst I've ever had (how can someone mess this up?) I also noticed they didn't have the standards that an Indian buffet usually entails; chicken curry, dal makhani, palak paneer, etc. It was $26 for 2 people for the worst Indian food I ever paid for. The only redeeming thing was that the kheer (rice pudding) was tasty. The server was pretty nice too, but he kept interrupting our lunch to talk politics (huh??). The ambience was ok for Peoria standards (but plastic table covers?? They'd be tolerable if the food was good). I won't be back unless there are some major changes in the quality of the food & a price cut.

We went to Rasoi for lunch. Based on the yelp reviews we were hesitant to go but our friend really wanted to try it out. The bottom line - BELIEVE THE REVIEWS, DON'T GO! We all had the buffet lunch because that was the only option - no ordering off the menu. The soup was too hot (spicy) for two of us to eat - seemed like all hot and no flavor. The rice wasn't fully cooked and was hard. The tandoori chicken was all bones - I finished off five pieces and barely had one bite. The kheer (rice pudding) was ok but the kesari was bizzare - we couldn't figure out exactly what it was! The only dish worth eating was a certain shredded carrot dish. Needless to say, it was not worth the $12 / person charge. Finally, I saw one woman taking her used plate back to the buffet and getting more food. That was the final straw for this place
(1)Lin S.
This was my second time visiting this restaurant, recently under new management. The first time was for the lunch buffet, which was very good. Lots of variety on the buffet table, although they seemed to be out of the tandoori chicken for most of the time. The basket of naan waiting at the table was a nice touch. Tonight my husband and I stopped there for dinner. He ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and I ordered a lamb dish. This time, the naan had to be ordered seperately for a $3 charge. One order of garlic naan was plenty for the two of us. It was delicious. My husbands chicken was excellent. My lamb dish was also very good, but lacked the carrots that were listed in the description on the menu. It had lots of fresh curry leaves in the sauce, something I've never seen before and lent to the authenticity of the dish. We will certainly visit again. Probably for the lunch buffet, where we can sample new dishes and enjoy the accompanying naan, too!
(4)Lars G.
The chicken tika masala is just delicious. I also love the goat curry. But my favorite is... The spicy chicken phaal. Order it hot, not "American" hot, and it will be incredible. Even with the extreme heat the flavor comes through. Simply delicious! The staff has always been friendly and the place is pretty clean. I highly recommend this place.
(4)Mani G.
Don't deserve even a single star. Worst owner/manager ever I seen. Worst food ever seen. They are thinking like monopoly over in Peoria.
(1)c e.
The food is good. The atmosphere is terrible. Do you feel like you've been waiting for twenty minutes for a server? Yes, welcome to Rasoi. If you're new to Indian cuisine, don't expect the staff here to help you. But the food is excellent. Hey Rasoi: develop your staff into promoters! Give them the words to explain the cuisine.
(3)Ian L.
Kicking myself for not coming here sooner. Not only the best Indian in Peoria, but among the best Indian I've ever had.
(5)Chris K.
I have been here several times over the last six months and have never been disappointed. We usually get an appetizer and two entrees to share, as well as the garlic naan. We always leave very full and with leftovers for lunch the next day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others.
(5)Liceysiddharth N.
We have been Rasoi's customers for good 2 years. This is the best place to get indian food in Peoria. They can match the level of spice per customer request and have variety of South Indian ( Kerala ) specialities that we crave for. We aren't fond of the buffet because it is set to match the general public's taste buds. What we recommend is trying items from the menu- fish in banana leaf, malabar addu curry, chettinadu lamb chops are absolute delicacies. Goat biryani is one of our favorites too. We didn't give four stars because we have experienced that their food flavor varies at times. For the most part we have had the best items but sometimes it is just average or below. We wish the quality was more consistent especially for goat items - meat being cooked thoroughly , level of spice, flavor and service itself. We still consider Rasoi to be the best indian restaurant in Peoria. Also, try items during the Onam buffet - it's the best time to try out authentic Kerala food -appam, stew, payasam etc. You want to visit this place for its authencity, food, options (menu items) and large portions.
(4)Tad P.
Wow, unexpectedly good Indian food. We had the chicken tikka, khandahar (?) chicken, gobi aloo, and and eggplant dish: the species were subtle and well balanced. Our only complaint might be that the naan seemed a small portion for the cost
(5)Anirudh A.
This restaurant is really bad. I mean not ambience or serving or anything like that. Just the food. Today I ordered chole batoora and it is the worst I have ever eaten. The only people who will like this restaurant is who don't have any idea of Indian food. Not only that it is really pricey. The lack of competitors in this area is why this restaurant is thriving.
(1)Frank C.
We have been eating here for a couple years and generally the food is really great. Ate here tonight and the food was terrible...all of it. Did they switch chefs? Saag Paneer didn't taste right. Chicken Korma did not taste like the normal recipe they use. Aloo Gobi was unbelievably bland. The samosa was covered in some salty seasoning like a Dorrito. The paneer stuffed naan had paneer cheese that was like rubber. What's happened here? We will give Rasoi another try in a month or so and if things are still this bad they will have lost a customer permanently.
(1)Jade B.
Excellent Indian food! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but the best part is the food. I had lamb curry and an appetizer called ragara and it was just as good as Indian food I've had in bigger cities. I will definitely go back here and recommend it to everyone.
(5)Jacqui M.
As someone who loves Indian food, I have to give this a great rating. I've eaten Indian, a lot, in Chicago as well as San Francisco and other parts of the country. This is among the best. Has a nice mix of South Indian too, they even give you Masala Dosa on the wknd with the buffet. It's not perfect, but it's among the best.
(4)Jennifer S.
Hands down the best Indian food in town. Great vegetarian selection. My family orders from this restaurant several times each month.
(5)Raj K.
Lunch buffet is decent. Pretty good vegetarian choices. Fresh and tasty! I went there for a buffet on a week day afternoon. Good combination of south indian and north indian choices. Loved vegetable cutlets, Guttu Vanakaya (Bhaingan Masala).
(5)Chicago M.
Under $50 for our party of 4 weekend lunch buffet. We were all pleasantly satisfied with the food. I honestly didn't know mostly what I was eating, but it tasted pretty good, and none of us were sick afterwards...win, win! The buffet area is a bit cramped, and awkwardly designed for a smooth flow of people. The platters were quickly emptied, and took a bit too long to be re-filled, but not too bad, just worth mentioning.
(3)Geoff M.
Rasoi is one if my fam's faves. We love the paneer masala, palak paneer, and chana masala with chapati bread. Our usual dessert is gulab jamun (or "sweet balls" as our boys call them) and rice pudding. They also have a plentiful Sunday buffet with enjoyable variety. The wait staff are pleasant and welcoming. We will continue to be regulars at our favorite Indian restraunt in Peoria.
(5)Saalai S.
I have been here quite and few times. Dinner - a la carte - Taste 8 out of 10. Good presentation. One thing spoils the taste is they add cheeper vegetables in everything like zucchini. Nan is fresh as well. Weekend Lunch buffet- tasty but bland, good variety, but cold Good- Masala dosai- made in front of you, yum. Appam. Pow bajji, biriyani, all the curries. Man. Pickles. Fruit salad is nice Bad. Idly - very cold Panni puri- soggy Poori - too thick. Desert items- gulab jammun - burnt Jangly soggy and oily. They must change the frying oil more often I think. This place is much better that couple other places I tried. One plus is they have a bar, good for entertaining friends.
(3)Anne S.
We had dinner here last night, and everything was perfect! I will definitely return if I'm in the area again. First of all, the staff was so wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very pretty inside. It feels likes you're going out for a nice dinner. I like that the bar is in a separate room. I was amazed at how many tables they had for large groups. They easily accommodated our group of 10! The food was delicious! My favorite was the vegan okra dish, and I don't normally like okra! The tandoori chicken was also outstanding. Everything else I tried was great too!
(5)Barbara D.
I love Indian food, mainly because of this place, and often have a hard time picking ONE thing off a menu, so the solution to my conundrum is their weekend Buffet! Fantastic! Great selection and TASTY with not only all the traditional standard options but some fun things in between. Their spices hit the spot; nothing seems overly spiced or obnoxiously hot, yet their food has just the right amount of fire blazing flavor. Delicious lamb and goat no matter how it is spiced, be it curry or bhuna. Love their tandoori chicken and their tomato onion chutney is to die for! Ok exaggerating, but omg it is freakin' good! Not five stars cuz their atmosphere could use a little help. Very dim cafeteria feel to it. Also since they get so packed on the weekend (although never a wait), their wait staff sometimes seem overwhelmed and can't get your water to you fast enough. Which is a big no-no in Indian restaurants. Need WATER or will die!
(4)Anna G.
The garlic naan bread is heavenly. Service is good. I had chai, was good. Friend had salt lassi, and it tastes like traditional yogurt. We had the lamb kheesa samosa for a starter and it came with a sauce that tastes like hawthorn berry sauce. It is sooo good. Our main course was good too. I would say one dish is just enough for 2 college girls.. For your reference of the serving size.
(5)Axe D.
Worst service. Don't even know can give 1 star. Took long to get food. Then waiter won't even ask whether you need water or anything. Waited long for bill to notice they even charged for coffee they didn't have
(1)Vinod Y.
Worst food I ever had. Went there and ordered goat biryani. It was very awful. They did not even cook it with basmati rice and meat is not properly cooked. We felt like as if they just heated it in a microwave couple of times before bringing to us. Absolutely waste of money folks. I'm not going there again.
(1)Arjun S.
If you are looking for dog food made for humans this is the place to go. If you are looking for food that is only barely edible and tastes like socks this is the place to go. Ready to eat microwave indian food tastes better than this place.
